Abstract
Histamine has been known as a momentous cause of biogenic amine poisoning. Therefore, the content of histamine in foods is strictly required to be controlled within a certain range. Here, an aptamer fluorescent sensor was developed for detection of histamine. Poly [(9, 9-di-n-octylfluorenyl-2, 7-diyl)-alt-(benzo [2,1,3] thiadia-zol-4, 8-diyl)] (PF8BT) and the styrene maleic anhydride copolymer (PSMA) were used for the preparation of PF8BT-Polymer dots (PF8BT-Pdots). PF8BT-Pdots and the cyanine3-phosphoramidite (Cy3) were linked through aptamer to achieve the ratiometric detection for histamine. PF8BT-Pdots were partly quenched by Cy3 due to the fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET), when the histamine molecule was recognized by aptamer on the surface of PF8BT-Pdots. A linear range (3-21 μmol/L) was obtained for histamine detection with a low limit of detection (LOD = 0.38 μmol/L). PF8BT aptamer Pdots (PF8BT-A) were used to detect histamine in simply treated aquaculture water and tuna. The cell imaging of HeLa cells presented a good biosecurity and outstanding fluorescent imaging capability of PF8BT-A. The aptamer fluorescent sensors provided a new platform for rapid and accurate detection of histamine in aquatic products and had great potential for the application in food safety and quality control.

Abstract
In this work, the perovskite fluorescent nanocrystals (CsPbBr3) were successfully synthesized and wrapped with SiO2 shell, utilized for the assembly of solid-state detection strip capable of conveniently and specifically detection of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1). The SiO2 coating aimed to enhance the stability of CsPbBr3 nanocrystals. The resulting CsPbBr3@SiO2 material exhibited remarkable fluorescence properties, and further self-assembled onto solid-state plate, generating AFB1-specific quenched fluorescence at a specific wavelength of 515 nm. When combined with the capture of AFB1 by magnetic nanoparticles conjugated with aptamers (MNPs-Apt), it was achieved the good separation and specific detection of AFB1 toxin in food matrices. The constructed fluorescent solid-state detection strip based on CsPbBr3@SiO2 exhibited good response to AFB1 toxin within a linear range of 0.1-100 ng mL-1 and an impressive detection limit as low as 0.053 ng mL-1. This presents a new strategy for the rapid screening and convenient detection of highly toxic AFB1.

Abstract
Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) is a virulent metabolite secreted by Aspergillus fungi, impacting crop quality and posing health risks to human. Herein, a dual-mode Raman/fluorescence aptasensor was constructed to detect AFB1. The aptasensor was assembled by gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) and magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs), while the surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) and fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) effects were both realized. AuNPs were modified with the Raman signal molecule 4-MBA and the complementary chain of AFB1 aptamer (cDNA). MNPs were modified with the fluorescence signal molecule Cy5 and the AFB1 aptamer (AFB1 apt). Through base pairing, AuNPs aggregated on the surface of MNPs, forming a satellite-like nanocomposite, boosting SERS signal via increased "hot spots" but reducing fluorescence signal due to the proximity of AuNPs to Cy5. Upon exposure to AFB1, AFB1 apt specifically bound to AFB1, causing AuNPs detachment from MNPs, weakening the SERS signal while restoring the fluorescence signal. AFB1 concentration displayed a good linear relationship with SERS/fluorescence signal in the range of 0.01 ng/mL-100 ng/mL, with a detection limit as low as 5.81 pg/mL. The use of aptamer assured the high selectivity toward AFB1. Furthermore, the spiked recovery in peanut samples ranged from 91.4 % to 95.6 %, indicating the applicability of real sample detection. Compared to single-signal sensor, this dual-signal sensor exhibited enhanced accuracy, robust anti-interference capability, and increased flexibility, promising for toxin detection in food safety applications.

Abstract
Food prone to spoilage has a huge food safety hazard, threatening people's health, so early detection of food spoilage is a continuous and urgent need. Herein, we developed a dual-mode response sensor, alizarin complexone@UiO-66-NH2, which can accurately detect pH. The sensor demonstrated significant changes in color from pale yellow to deep pink, while the fluorescence shifted from light blue to blue violet. Moreover, both UV absorption and fluorescence intensity showed a linear correlation with pH raging from 4.5 to 7.5. These results indicate that the sensor effectively responds to pH, making it suitable for detecting the freshness of perishable food. To put this into practice, we integrated the sensor with cellulose-based filter paper to determine the freshness of shrimp and beef, which was proved to be effective in assessing freshness. In the future, it can be combined with intelligent colorimetric and fluorescence instruments to achieve visual detection.

Abstract
DNA-templated silver nanoclusters (AgNCs-DNA) can be synthesized via a one-pot method bypassing the tedious process of biomolecular labeling. Appending an aptamer to DNA templates results in dual-functionalized DNA strands that can be utilized for synthesizing aptamer-modified AgNCs, thereby enabling the development of label-free fluorescence aptasensors. However, a major challenge lies in the necessity to redesign the dual-functionalized DNA strand for each specific target, thus increasing the complexity and hindering widespread application of these aptasensors. To overcome this challenge, we designed six DNA strands (DNA1-DNA6) that incorporate the templates for AgNCs synthesis and A4-linker for further aptamer coupling. Among all the synthesized AgNCs-DNA samples, it was found that both AgNCs-DNA1 and AgNCs-DNA2 stood out for their excellent long-term stability. After capturing the T4-linker that connected with aptamer1 specific for aflatoxin B1 (AFB1), however, we found that only AgNCs-DNA1/aptamer1 maintained excellent long-term stability. This finding highlighted the potential of AgNCs-DNA1 as a versatile label-free fluorescence probe for the development of on-demand fluorescence aptasensors. To emphasize its benefits in aptasensing applications, we utilized AgNCs-DNA1/aptamer1 as the fluorescence probe and MoS2 nanosheets as the quencher to develop a FRET aptasensor for AFB1 detection. This aptasensor demonstrated remarkable sensitivity, enabling the detection of AFB1 within a wide concentration range of 0.03-120 ng/mL, with a limit of detection as low as 3.6 pg/mL (S/N = 3). The versatility of the aptasensor has been validated through the recognition of diverse targets, employing aptamer2 specific for ochratoxin A and aptamer3 specific for zearalenone, thereby showcasing its extensive applicability for on-demand detection. The universal applicability of this aptasensor holds great promise for future applications in diverse fields including food safety, environmental monitoring, and clinical diagnosis.

Abstract
A fluorescence biosensor for determination of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) based on polydiacetylene (PDA) liposomes and exonuclease III (EXO III)-assisted recycling amplification was developed. The AFB1 aptamer partially hybridizes with complementary DNA (cDNA), which is released upon recognition of AFB1 by the aptamer. Subsequently, the cDNA hybridizes with hairpin H to form double-stranded DNA that undergoes digestion by EXO III, resulting in the cyclic release of cDNA and generation of capture DNA for further reaction. The capture DNA then hybridizes with probe modified on PDA liposomes, leading to aggregation of liposomes and subsequent fluorescence production. This strategy exhibited a limit of detection of 0.18 ng/mL within the linear range 1-100 ng/mL with a determination coefficient > 0.99. The recovery ranged from 92.81 to 106.45%, with relative standard deviations (RSD) between 1.73 and 4.26%, for corn, brown rice, peanut butter, and wheat samples. The stability, accuracy, and specificity of the method demonstrated the applicability for real sample analysis.

Abstract
Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have gained significant prominence as sensing materials owing to their unique properties. However, understanding the correlation between the morphology, properties, and sensing performance in these MOF-based sensors remains a challenge, limiting their applications and potential for improvement. In this study, Zr-MOF was chosen as an ideal model to explore the impact of the MOF morphology on the sensing performance, given its remarkable stability and structural variability. Three luminescent MOFs (namely rod-like Zr-LMOF, prismoid-like Zr-LMOF, and ellipsoid-like Zr-LMOF) were synthesized by adjusting the quantities of the benzoic acid and the reaction time. More importantly, the sensing performance of these Zr-LMOFs in response to aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) was thoroughly examined. Notably, the ellipsoid-like Zr-LMOF exhibited significantly higher sensitivity compared to other Zr-LMOFs, attributed to its large specific surface area and pore volume. Additionally, an in-depth investigation into the detection mechanism of AFB1 by Zr-LMOFs was conducted. Building upon these insights, a ratiometric fluorescence sensor was developed by coordinating Eu3+ with ellipsoid-like Zr-LMOF, achieving a remarkably lower detection limit of 2.82 nM for AFB1. This study contributes to an improved comprehension of the relationship between the MOF morphology and the sensing characteristics while presenting an effective approach for AFB1 detection.

Abstract
The study aimed to develop a rapid and sensitive colorimetric platform based on the Emerson reaction to visualize and determine total aflatoxins (AFs) in peanut oil. This method offers the advantage of fast screening for AFs (AFB1, AFB2, AFG1, and AFG2), eliminating the need for specific antibodies. The proposed approach combined colorimetric detection with magnetic dummy imprinted solid-phase extraction and purification, enhancing sensitivity and selectivity. The oxidizer aided the colorless AFs in reacting with 4-aminoantipyrine, producing green condensates. Thus, a dual-mode approach was developed for AFs detection, employing both UV-vis colorimetric and smartphone-based colorimetry. Both methods showed a good linear relationship with the concentration of AFs. Notably, the smartphone-based method demonstrated a detection range of 0.5-57 μg/kg, with a detection limit as low as 0.21 μg/kg. The suggested colorimetric methods present a promising potential for onsite detection and fast screening of AFs in actual samples.

Abstract
Biomolecules are essential in pharmaceuticals, biocatalysts, biomaterials, etc., but unfortunately they are extremely susceptible to extraneous conditions. When biomolecules meet porous organic frameworks, significantly improved thermal, chemical, and mechanical stabilities are not only acquired for raw biomolecules, but also molecule sieving, substrate enrichment, chirality property, and other functionalities are additionally introduced for application expansions. In addition, the intriguing synergistic effect stemming from elaborate and concerted interactions between biomolecules and frameworks can further enhance application performances. In this paper, the synthesis strategies of the so-called bio-organic frameworks (BOFs) in recent years are systematically reviewed and classified. Additionally, their broad applications in biomedicine, catalysis, separation, sensing, and imaging are introduced and discussed. Before ending, the current challenges and prospects in the future for this infancy-stage but significant research field are also provided. We hope that this review will offer a concise but comprehensive vision of designing and constructing multifunctional BOF materials as well as their full explorations in various fields.

Abstract
Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) is a typical mycotoxin that signifacntly endangers public health and economy. In this study, we systematically studied the interaction of aptamers with AFB1 using circular dichroism, molecular dynamics, molecular docking, and fluorescence analysis. The truncated sequence aptamers were screened using molecular docking. We successfully obtained the AFB1 aptamer with higher affinity and its truncated form was enhanced by 5.2-fold compared to the initial AFB1 aptamer. In addition, for rapid detection of AFB1, we designed a fluorescent nano-adaptor sensing platform using RecJf exonuclease signal amplification strategy based on the optimal aptamer. The aptasensor showed satisfactory sensitivity towards AFB1 with a linear detection range of 1-400 ng/mL and a detection limit of 0.57 ng/mL. The aptasensor was successfully applied to the determination of AFB1 in soybean oil and corn oil with recoveries of 91.02 %-106.59 % and 87.39 %-110.61 %, respectively. The successful application of the AFB1 aptasensor, developed through bioinformatics truncation of the aptamer, provides a novel approach to creating a cost-effective, eco-friendly, and rapid aptamer sensing platform.

Abstract
Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) contamination has received considerable attention for the serious harm it causes and its wide distribution. Hence, its efficient monitoring is of great importance. Herein, a space-confined electrochemical aptasensor for AFB1 detection is developed using a conductive hydrogel. Plasmonic gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) and methylene blue-embedded double-stranded DNA (MB-dsDNA) were integrated into the conductive Au-hydrogel by ultraviolet (UV) polymerization. Specific recognition of AFB1 by the aptamer released MB from MB-dsDNA in the matrix. The free DNA migrated to the outer layer due to electrostatic repulsion during the Au-hydrogel formation. The electrochemical aptasensor based on this Au-hydrogel offered a twofold enlarged oxidation current of MB (IMB) compared with that recorded in the homogeneous solution for AFB1 detection. Upon light illumination, this IMB was further enlarged by the local surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) of the AuNPs. Ultimately, the Au-hydrogel-based electrochemical aptasensor provided a detection limit of 0.0008 ng mL-1 and a linear range of 0.001-1000 ng mL-1 under illumination for AFB1 detection. The Au-hydrogel allowed for space-confined aptasensing, favorable conductivity, and LSPR enhancement for better sensitivity. It significantly enhanced the applicability of the electrochemical aptasensor by avoiding complicated electrode fabrication and signal loss in a bulk homogeneous solution.

Abstract
Trace amounts of mycotoxins in food matrices have caused a very serious problem of food safety and have attracted widespread attention. Developing accurate, sensitive, rapid mycotoxin detection and control strategies adapted to the complex matrices of food is crucial for in safeguarding public health. With the continuous development of nanotechnology and materials science, various nanoscale materials have been developed for the purification of complex food matrices or for providing response signals to achieve the accurate and rapid detection of various mycotoxins in food products. This article reviews and summarizes recent research (from 2018 to 2023) on new strategies and methods for the accurate or rapid detection of mold toxins in food samples using nanoscale materials. It places particular emphasis on outlining the characteristics of various nanoscale or nanostructural materials and their roles in the process of detecting mycotoxins. The aim of this paper is to promote the in-depth research and application of various nanoscale or structured materials and to provide guidance and reference for the development of strategies for the detection and control of mycotoxin contamination in complex matrices of food.

Abstract
Herein we report a highly specific electrochemical aptasenseor for AFB1 determination based on AFB1-controlled diffusion of redox probe (Ru(NH3)63+) through nanochannels of AFB1-specific aptamer functionalized VMSF. A high density of silanol groups on the inner surface confers VMSF with cationic permselectivity, enabling electrostatic preconcentration of Ru(NH3)63+ and producing amplified electrochemical signals. Upon the addition of AFB1, the specific interaction between the aptamer and AFB1 occurs and generates steric hindrance effect on the access of Ru(NH3)63+, finally resulting in the reduced electrochemical responses and allowing the quantitative determination of AFB1. The proposed electrochemical aptasensor shows excellent detection performance in the range of 3 pg/mL to 3 μg/mL with a low detection limit of 2.3 pg/mL for AFB1 detection. Practical analysis of AFB1 in peanut and corn samples is also accomplished with satisfactory results by our fabricated electrochemical aptasensor.

Abstract
An electrochemical sensor based on environmentally friendly eRAFT polymerization was developed for the detection of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) in food and herbal medicine. Two biological probes, aptamer (Ap) and antibody (Ab), were used to specifically recognize AFB1, and a large number of ferrocene polymers were grafted on the electrode surface by eRAFT polymerization, which greatly improved the specificity and sensitivity of the sensor. The detection limit of AFB1 was 37.34 fg/mL. In addition, the recovery rate was 95.69% to 107.65% and the RSD was 0.84% to 4.92% by detecting 9 spiked samples. The delighted reliability of this method was verified by HPLC-FL.

Abstract
Mercury ion (Hg2+), as one of the most poisonous heavy metal ions, could seriously damage mental and neurological functions thus causing severe diseases. A fluorescent ratiometric sensor based on semiconducting polymer dots (Pdots) and rhodamine spirolactam derivate was developed for the detection of Hg2+. The Pdots were prepared by Poly [(9,9-dioctylfluorenyl-2,7-diyl)-co-(1,4-diphenylene-vinylene-2-methoxy-5-{2-ethylhexyloxy}-benzene)] (PDDB) with emitting strong green fluorescence. The organic fluorescence dye N-(rhodamine-B) lactam-hydrazine (RhBH), as Hg2+-recognizing monomer, was conjugated to the surface of Pdots. Hg2+ could specifically trigger ring-opening process of RhBH and thus induce strong Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET) effect, resulting in the green fluorescence decrease of Pdots (energy donor) and red emission derived from the ring-opened RhBH (energy acceptor) increasing. PDDB@RhBH showed a sensitive and reversible response toward Hg2+ and had a great performance on resisting interferences from various biological analytes. Additionally, both fluorescent imaging in living cells and zebrafish, and systemic toxicity analysis in rats demonstrated that PDDB@RhBH was a great potential fluorescent sensor for quantitative Hg2+ imaging in living systems.
