Abstract
A multifaceted approach in treating Alzheimer's disease (AD), a neurodegenerative condition that poses health risks in the aging population is explored in this investigation via encapsulating Piper betle essential oil (PBEO) in chitosan nanoparticles (ChNPs) to improve solubility and efficacy of PBEO. PBEO-ChNPs mitigated AD-like features more effectively than free PBEO by delaying paralysis progression and reducing serotonin hypersensitivity, ROS levels, Aβ deposits, and neurotoxic Aβ-oligomers in the Caenorhabditis elegans AD model. PBEO-ChNPs significantly improved lifespan, neuronal health, healthspan, cognitive function, and reversed deficits in chemotaxis and reproduction. PBEO-ChNPs also induced stress response genes daf-16, sod-3, and hsp-16.2. The participation of the DAF-16 pathway in reducing Aβ-induced toxicity was confirmed by daf-16 RNAi treatment, and upregulation of autophagy genes leg-1, unc-51, and bec-1 was noted. This study is the first to demonstrate an alternative biopolymeric nanoformulation with natural PBEO and chitosan, in mitigating AD and its associated symptoms.

Abstract
Anthriscus sylvestris (L.) Hoffm has a long history of use for anti-aging, although the anti-aging properties of its decoction ingredients have been seldom explored. This study marks the first detailed examination of the in vivo anti-aging activity of A. sylvestris roots polysaccharide (AP). Structural analyses revealed that AP is a neutral heteropolysaccharide with an average molecular weight (Mw) of 34.17 kDa, comprising glucose, xylose, galactose, mannose, and arabinose, with a backbone primarily of 1,4-α-D-Glc and minor branching at 1,4,6-α-D-Man. Its advanced structure is characterized by stable triple-helical chains and nanoscale agglomerated spherical particles. Using a D-gal-induced aging mouse model, further investigation showed that AP boosts the activity of various antioxidant enzymes via the Nrf2/HO-1/NQO1 signaling pathway. Aging-related immune decline was also mitigated by an increase in lymphocyte production in thymus. Moreover, AP reduced inflammation and downregulated aging genes p53 and p21 in hippocampus and liver tissues, enhanced the cholinergic system, and improved liver functions and lipid metabolism. The collective impact of these mechanisms underscores the robust anti-aging properties of AP. These findings highlight the anti-aging and immunomodulatory potential of A. sylvestris polysaccharide, broadening the understanding of its active components.

Abstract
Enzymatic browning and microbial contamination of food threaten food sensory and safety. With the development of green and healthy concepts, there is a greater need for efficient, low-carbon antioxidant and antimicrobial strategies. In this study, we designed a nano-enzyme with antioxidant activities and biocompatibility. By mimicking the active center of the natural SOD enzyme, copper (Cu) and ovalbumin (OVA) were self-assembled to form Cu-nano-polymerised sheet (Cu-NPS), in which OVA as a scaffold carries cofactors to create the active sites, making the nanoenzymes compatible with the antioxidant activity and antimicrobial properties of Cu, and at the same time possessing good stability and biocompatibility. These properties enable Cu-NPS to have a broader application range, for removing reactive oxygen species (ROS) and broad-spectrum sterilization. Subsequently, Cu-NPS was doped into carrageenan (Carr) to form a nanocomposite film, effectively inhibiting enzymatic browning and microbial contamination. In this work, protein-based mimetic enzymes as artificial nanoenzymes have advantages over natural enzymes, and the Cu-NPS with simple synthesis, high stability, and diverse properties, provides new ideas for the design of functional materials.

Abstract
The current investigation emphasizes the use of fucoidan and sericin as dual-role biomaterials for obtaining novel nanohybrid systems for the delivery of diclofenac sodium (DS) and the potential treatment of chronic inflammatory diseases. The innovative formulations containing 4 mg/ml of fucoidan and 3 mg/ml of sericin showed an average diameter of about 200 nm, a low polydispersity index (0.17) and a negative surface charge. The hybrid nanosystems demonstrated high stability at various pHs and temperatures, as well as in both saline and glucose solutions. The Rose Bengal assay evidenced that fucoidan is the primary modulator of relative surface hydrophobicity with a two-fold increase of this parameter when compared to sericin nanoparticles. The interaction between the drug and the nanohybrids was confirmed through FT-IR analysis. Moreover, the release profile of DS from the colloidal systems showed a prolonged and constant drug leakage over time both at pH 5 and 7. The DS-loaded nanohybrids (DIFUCOSIN) induced a significant decrease of IL-6 and IL-1β with respect to the active compound in human chondrocytes evidencing a synergistic action of the individual components of nanosystems and the drug and demonstrating the potential application of the proposed nanomedicine for the treatment of inflammation.

Abstract
Nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN) is being investigated for its ability to address the decline in NAD+ level during aging. This study aimed to construct a delivery system based on ovalbumin and fucoidan nanoparticles to ameliorate the bioaccessibility of NMN by increasing NAD+ level in aging mouse model. The NMN-loaded ovalbumin and fucoidan nanoparticles (OFNPs) were about 177 nm formed by the interplay of hydrogen bonds between ovalbumin and fucoidan. Compared with free NMN, NMN-loaded OFNPs intervention could obviously improve the antioxidant enzyme activity of senescent cell induced by D-galactose. The NMN-loaded OFNPs treatment could ameliorate the loss of weight and organ index induced by senescence, and maintain the water content for the aging mice. The Morris maze test indicated that hitting blind side frequency and escape time of NMN-loaded OFNPs group decreased by 13% and 35% compared with that of free NMN group. Furthermore, the NMN-loaded OFNPs significantly alleviated the age-related oxidative stress and increased the generation of NAD+ 1.34 times by improving the bioaccessibility of NMN. Our data in this study supplied a strategy to enhance the bioavailability of NMN in senescence treatment.

Abstract
Obesity has become a serious global public health risk threatening millions of people. In this study, the astaxanthin-anthocyanin nanoparticles (AXT-ACN NPs) were used to investigate their effects on the lipid accumulation and antioxidative capacity of the high-sugar-diet-induced high-fat Caenorhabditis elegans (C. elegans). It can be found that the lifespan, motility, and reproductive capacity of the high-fat C. elegans were significantly decreased compared to the normal nematodes in the control group. However, treatment of high-fat C. elegans with AXT-ACN NPs resulted in a prolonged lifespan of 35 days, improved motility, and a 22.06% increase in total spawn production of the nematodes. Furthermore, AXT-ACN NPs were found to effectively extend the lifespan of high-fat C. elegans under heat and oxidative stress conditions. Oil-red O staining results also demonstrated that AXT-ACN NPs have a remarkable effect on reducing the fat accumulation in nematodes, compared with pure astaxanthin and anthocyanin nanoparticles. Additionally, AXT-ACN NPs can significantly decrease the accumulation of lipofuscin and the level of reactive oxygen species (ROS). The activities of antioxidant-related enzymes in nematodes were further measured, which revealed that the AXT-ACN NPs could increase the activities of catalase (CAT), superoxidase dismutase (SOD), and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px), and decrease the malondialdehyde (MDA) content. The astaxanthin and anthocyanin in AXT-ACN NPs showed sound synergistic antioxidation and lipid-lowering effects, making them potential components in functional foods.
