Abstract
The structural changes, stability, digestion and release of Lip-7S-Pec during its formation were studied by adding different concentrations of pectin. The particle size of Lip-7S-Pec reached the peak value (282.96 ± 2.01 nm) when the pectin content was 0.4 %, and TEM showed that pectin had secondary modification on the surface of liposomes. Increased surface hydrophobicity, decreased micropolarity and increased viscosity indicated that the phospholipid membrane structure was more ordered and hydrophobic interactions and hydrogen bonds are the main forces. pH, ionic strength, and storage stability significantly improve, reducing precipitation and aggregation. The particle size of Lip-7S-Mr-Pec was increased to 295.2 ± 3.42 nm, and the encapsulation rate was 60.4 %. Pectin modification alleviated the degradation of liposomes in the stomach and delayed the early release of Morin. When the concentration of pectin was 0.4 %, the release of FFAs was at least 17.3 %, respectively. This double-layer modification provides a more stable liposome delivery system.

Abstract
Purpose Phytosome technology, an advanced lipid-based delivery system, offers a promising solution for enhancing the bioavailability and therapeutic efficacy of secondary metabolites, particularly in cancer treatment. These metabolites, such as flavonoids, terpenoids, and alkaloids, possess significant anticancer potential but are often limited by poor solubility and low absorption. This review aims to investigate how phytosome encapsulation improves the pharmacokinetic profiles and anticancer effectiveness of these bioactive compounds. Patients and Methods This comprehensive review is based on an analysis of recent literature retrieved from PubMed, Scopus, and ScienceDirect databases. It focuses on findings from preclinical and in vitro studies that examine the pharmacokinetic enhancements provided by phytosome technology when applied to secondary metabolites. Results Phytosome-encapsulated secondary metabolites exhibit significantly improved solubility, absorption, distribution, and cellular uptake compared to non-encapsulated forms. This enhanced bioavailability facilitates more effective inhibition of cancer pathways, including NF-κB and PI3K/AKT, leading to increased anticancer efficacy in preclinical models. Conclusion Phytosome technology has demonstrated its potential to overcome bioavailability challenges, resulting in safer and more effective therapeutic options for cancer treatment. This review highlights the potential of phytosome-based formulations as a novel approach to anticancer therapy, supporting further development in preclinical, in vitro, and potential clinical applications.

Abstract
Dihydromyricetin (DHM) possesses impressive antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties; however, its effectiveness is limited by poor bioavailability. Liposomes improve the solubility and stability of insoluble bioactives but encounter challenges in gastrointestinal fluids after oral administration. Consequently, DHM-loaded nanocochleates were fabricated to enhance the solubility, stability, and release behavior of DHM. The nanoliposomes exhibited an entrapment efficiency (EE) ranging from 85.64 % to 88.79 %, a particle size between 136.20 and 150.70 nm, a polydispersity index (PDI) of 0.36 to 0.43, and a zeta potential of -6.82 to -11.13 mV. In contrast, the cylindrical-shaped nanocochleates demonstrated an EE ranging from 74.94 % to 84.64 %, a particle size between 239.07 and 571.43 nm, a PDI from 0.16 to 0.61, and a zeta potential ranging from -21.97 to -27.10 mV. The nanocochleates exhibited improved water solubility (64.75 %) and retained antioxidant activity (41.38 %) compared to free DHM. Additionally, they demonstrated enhanced stability of DHM compared to nanoliposomes during 30 days of storage. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and differential scanning calorimetry confirmed that DHM was encapsulated within nanocochleate structures via ionic and chemical interactions. X-ray diffraction revealed a distinct organization of the nanocochleates in comparison to the nanoliposomes. The release of DHM from nanocochleates demonstrated a prolonged and controlled release in simulated gastrointestinal medium, unlike the burst release observed with nanoliposomes. This study hightlighted the potential of nanocochleates as novel delivery vehicles for enhancing the stability and bioavailability of DHM. It also offered a unique perspective on developing functional food formulations that utilize nanocochleates as promising nanocarriers for bioactives.

Abstract
Over the years, nanotechnology has gained popularity as a viable solution to address gene and drug delivery challenges over conventional methods. Extensive research has been conducted on nanosystems that consist of organic/inorganic materials, drugs, and its biocompatibility become the primary goal of improving drug delivery. Various surface modification methods help focus targeted and controlled drug release, further enabling multidrug delivery also. This newer technology ensures the stability of drugs that can unravel the mechanisms involved in cellular processes of disease development and its management. Tailored medication delivery provides benefits such as therapy, controlled release, and reduced adverse effects, which are especially important for controlling illnesses like cancer. However, multifunctional nanocarriers that possess high viscoelasticity, extended circulation half-life, biocompatibility, and biodegradability face some challenges and limitations too in human bodies. To produce a consistent therapeutic platform based on complex three-dimensional nanoparticles, careful design and engineering, thorough orthogonal analysis methods, and reproducible scale-up and manufacturing processes will be required in the future. Safety and effectiveness of nano-based drug delivery should be thoroughly investigated in preclinical and clinical trials, especially when considering biodistribution, targeting specific areas, and potential immunological toxicities. Overall, the current review article explores the advancements in nanotechnology, specific to nanomaterial-enabled drug delivery systems, carrier fabrication techniques and modifications, disease management, clinical research, applications, limitations, and future challenges. The work portrays how nanomedicine distribution affects healthcare with an emphasis on the developments in drug delivery techniques.

Abstract
Drug-in-cyclodextrin-in-liposome (DCL) combines advantages of cyclodextrin and liposome. Here, DCL formulation was successfully prepared to encapsulate limonene (Lim), whose characterization revealed that particle size was 147.5 ± 1.3 nm and zeta potential was -48.7 ± 0.8 mV. And the complexation mechanism of Lim/HP-β-CD inclusion complex (the intermediate of DCL) was analyzed by molecular dynamics simulation, showing that Lim was entrapped into the cavity of HP-β-CD through electrostatic and hydrophobic interaction with a molar ratio of 1:1. Notably, DCL formulation not only reduced Lim volatilization in 25℃, but also enhanced the free radical (DPPH· and ABTS·+) scavenging ability of Lim. In summary, Lim-DCL formulation improved the stability and enhanced the antioxidant activity of Lim. DCL nanocarrier system is suitable to preserve volatile and hydrophobic compounds, enlarging their application in pharmaceutics industries.

Abstract
In this paper, the effects of extrusion, ultrasound on physicochemical properties of liposomes were studied, and the liposomes were prepared by ethanol injection combined with extrusion-ultrasound. In addition, the quality of PhGs lips, pectin-coated PhGs lips (P-lips) and chitosan-coated PhGs lips (C-lips) was evaluated by the average particle size, encapsulation efficiency (EE) and other indicators, which indicated that the nanoparticles had been successfully prepared. Compared with extrusion or ultrasonic operation alone, the EEs of ethanol injection combined with extrusion-ultrasonic increased by 8 % and 18 % respectively. Subsequently, transmission electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and DSC thermal analysis showed that PhGs in PhGs lips may produce hydrogen bonding forces with phospholipids, and pectin and chitosan in P-lips and C-lips were not only coated on the surface of PhGs lips, but also might have some interaction between them. Cell experiments showed that PhGs lips, P-lips and C-lips can effectively improve the bioavailability of PhGs. In addition, the storage stability of P-lips and C-lips was not significantly improved compared to PhGs lips, but their digestive stability was significantly improved, and the final retention rate in simulated intestinal fluid was about 25 % higher than that of PhGs lips.

Abstract
Obesity stands as a pervasive global public health issue, posing a formidable threat to human well-being as its prevalence continues to surge year by year. Presently, pharmacological treatment remains the favored adjunct strategy for addressing obesity. However, conventional delivery methods suffer from low bioavailability and the potential for side effects, underscoring the pressing need for more efficient and targeted delivery approaches. Recent research has delved extensively into emerging drug delivery systems employing polymers as carriers, with numerous preclinical studies contributing to the growing body of knowledge. This review concentrates on the utilization of natural polymers as drug delivery systems for the treatment of obesity, encompassing recent advancements in both natural and synthetic polymers. The comprehensive exploration includes an analysis of the advantages and disadvantages associated with these polymer carriers. The examination of these characteristics provides valuable insights into potential future developments in the field of drug delivery for obesity treatment.

Abstract
Although post-translational lipidation is prevalent in eukaryotes, its impact on the liquid-liquid phase separation of disordered proteins is still poorly understood. Here, we examined the thermodynamic phase boundaries and kinetics of aqueous two-phase system (ATPS) formation for a library of elastin-like polypeptides modified with saturated fatty acids of different chain lengths. By systematically altering the physicochemical properties of the attached lipids, we were able to correlate the molecular properties of lipids to changes in the thermodynamic phase boundaries and the kinetic stability of droplets formed by these proteins. We discovered that increasing the chain length lowers the phase separation temperature in a sigmoidal manner due to alterations in the unfavorable interactions between protein and water and changes in the entropy of phase separation. Our kinetic studies unveiled remarkable sensitivity to lipid length, which we propose is due to the temperature-dependent interactions between lipids and the protein. Strikingly, we found that the addition of just a single methylene group is sufficient to allow tuning of these interactions as a function of temperature, with proteins modified with C7-C9 lipids exhibiting non-Arrhenius dependence in their phase separation, a behavior that is absent for both shorter and longer fatty acids. This work advances our theoretical understanding of protein-lipid interactions and opens avenues for the rational design of lipidated proteins in biomedical paradigms, where precise control over the phase separation is pivotal.

Using nano-delivery systems to encapsulate nutrients is an effective method of solving the problems associated with the application of nutrients at this stage. Polysaccharides, as natural biomaterials, have a unique chemical structure, ideal biocompatibility, biodegradability and low immunogenicity. This makes polysaccharides powerful carriers that can enhance the biological activity of nutrients. However, the true role of polysaccharide-based delivery systems requires an in-depth understanding of the structural and physicochemical characteristics of polysaccharide-based nanodelivery systems, as well as effective modulation of the intestinal delivery mechanism and the latest advances in nano-encapsulation. This review provides an overview of polysaccharide-based nano-delivery systems dependent on different carrier types, emphasizing recent advances in the application of polysaccharides, a biocomposite material designed for nutrient delivery systems. Strategies for polysaccharide-based nano-delivery systems to enhance the bioavailability of orally administered nutrients from the perspective of the intestinal absorption barrier are presented. Characterization methods for polysaccharide-based nano-delivery systems are presented as well as an explanation of the formation mechanisms behind nano-delivery systems from the perspective of molecular forces. Finally, we discussed the challenges currently facing polysaccharide-based nano-delivery systems as well as possible future directions for the future.

Abstract
Thyme essential oil (TEO) is a natural food antimicrobial agent derived of spice, but suffers from volatility and poor water solubility, which problem can be effectively solved by the encapsulation of liposomes. On this basis, a safe and common natural antibacterial protein, LYZ was used to modify the TEO liposomes (TEO-lips) for gaining better properties. 2.5 mg/mL TEO and 0.05 % LYZ/S100 mass ratio were the best formula for the preparation of LYZ-TEO-lips. After LYZ modification, the particle size and PDI increased, and the zeta potential decreased slightly. The modification of LYZ not only improves the thermal stability of TEO-Lips, weakens the influence of acid and salt ions on liposomes, but also improves the antibacterial properties of TEO-Lips. In brief, LYZ has the potential to improve the overall properties of liposomes and can provide a reference for the development of antimicrobial liposomes.

Abstract
Dispersions of core-shell nanocapsules (nanoemulsion) composed of liquid oil cores and polysaccharide-based shells were fabricated with emulsification using various mixtures of edible oils and amphiphilic hyaluronate derivatized with 12-carbon alkyl chains forming the shells. Such nanocapsules, with typical diameters in the 100-500 nm range, have been previously shown as promising carriers of lipophilic bioactive compounds. Here, the influence of some properties of the oil cores on the size and stability of the capsules were systematically investigated using oil binary mixtures. The results indicated that, in general, the lower the density, viscosity, and interfacial tension (IFT) between the oil and aqueous polymer solution phases, the smaller the size of the capsules. Importantly, an unexpected synergistic reduction of IFT of mixed oils was observed leading to the values below the measured for individual oils. Such a behavior may be used to tailor size but also other properties of the nanocapsules (e.g., stability, solubility of encapsulated compounds) that could not be achieved applying just a single oil. It is in high demand for applications in pharmaceutical or food industries and opens opportunities of using more complex combinations of oils with more components to achieve an even further reduction of IFT leading to even smaller nanocapsules.

Abstract
Bioactive compounds are highly valuable in the fields of food and medicine, but their application is limited due to easy deterioration after oral or skin administration. In recent years, the use of peptides as delivery systems for bioactive compounds has been intensively researched because of their special physicochemical characteristics. Peptides can be assembled using various preparation methods and can form several composite materials such as hydrogels, micelles, emulsions and particles. The composite material properties are determined by peptides, bioactive compounds and the construction methods employed. Herein, this paper provides a comprehensive review of the peptides used for active ingredients delivery, fabrication methods for creating delivery systems, structures, targeting characteristics, functional activities and mechanism of delivery systems, as well as their absorption and metabolism, which provided theoretical basis and reference for further research and development of functional composites.

Abstract
The detailed investigation of food-grade emulsions, which possess considerable structural and functional advantages, remains ongoing to enhance our understanding of these dispersion systems and to expand their application scope. This work reviews the applications of food-grade emulsions on the dispersed phase, interface structure, and macroscopic scales; further, it discusses the corresponding factors of influence, the selection and design of food dispersion systems, and the expansion of their application scope. Specifically, applications on the dispersed-phase scale mainly include delivery by soft matter carriers and auxiliary extraction/separation, while applications on the scale of the interface structure involve biphasic systems for enzymatic catalysis and systems that can influence substance digestion/absorption, washing, and disinfection. Future research on these scales should therefore focus on surface-active substances, real interface structure compositions, and the design of interface layers with antioxidant properties. By contrast, applications on the macroscopic scale mainly include the design of soft materials for structured food, in addition to various material applications and other emerging uses. In this case, future research should focus on the interactions between emulsion systems and food ingredients, the effects of food process engineering, safety, nutrition, and metabolism. Considering the ongoing research in this field, we believe that this review will be useful for researchers aiming to explore the applications of food-grade emulsions.

Abstract
Some diseases of uncontrolled proliferation such as cancer, as well as infectious diseases, are the main cause of death in the world, and their causative agents have rapidly developed resistance to the various existing treatments, making them even more dangerous. Thereby, the discovery of new therapeutic agents is a challenge promoted by the World Health Organization (WHO). Biomacromolecules, isolated or synthesized from a natural template, have therapeutic properties which have not yet been fully studied, and represent an unexplored potential in the search for new drugs. These substances, starting from conglomerates of proteins and other substances such as animal venoms, or from minor substances such as bioactive peptides, help fight diseases or counteract harmful effects. The high effectiveness of these biomacromolecules makes them promising substances for obtaining new drugs; however, their low bioavailability or stability in biological systems is a challenge to be overcome in the coming years with the help of nanotechnology. The objective of this review article is to describe the relationship between the structure and function of biomacromolecules of animal origin that have applications already described using nanotechnology and targeted delivery.

Abstract
The aim of this work was to establish the main relationship between the structure and functionality of supramolecular complexes formed by sodium caseinate (SC) with phosphatidylcholine (PC) liposomes filled with fish oil (FO) to an equal mass ratio of n-3 to n-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) in the absence and presence of one of the most effective plant antioxidants, namely the essential oil of clove buds (EOC). The functionality of the supramolecular complexes (SC-PC-FO and SC-PC-FO-EOC) was considered from the point of view of the possibility of their use as effective delivery systems for long-chain n-3 PUFAs (eicosapentaenoic (EPA) and docosahexaenoic (DHA) acids from FO). The laser light scattering method was used in the static, dynamic and electrophoretic modes to characterize the structure and thermodynamic parameters of the supramolecular complexes in an aqueous medium. It was found that the SC-PC-FO and SC-PC-FO-EOC complex particles had the following similar properties: nanosize; a spherical shape; 100% solubility in an aqueous medium (pH 7.0, ionic strength = 0.001 M); a high encapsulating ability of SC (up to 70%) in relation to the studied liposomes; and a high protective ability relative to lipid autooxidation (up to 96% on the 20th day of storage at room temperature in light). In addition, a sequential transformation of both the structural and thermodynamic parameters has been observed for the complex particles under in vitro simulated gastrointestinal (GI) conditions in accordance with the INFOGEST protocol. A greater release of the encapsulated lipids from the enzymatically hydrolyzed complex particles was observed at the small intestine stage compared to their release at the gastric stage. These data were in good agreement with those on the assessment of the bioavailability of the target PUFAs in in vivo experiments based on the chronic intake of aqueous solutions of the complexes (both SC-PC-FO and SC-PC-FO-EOC) by experimental mice for 92 days. Liver lipid profiles of the mice, obtained by gas-liquid chromatography, showed the following: (i) an almost twofold increase in the DHA content as compared with that of the control; (ii) an almost threefold decrease in the mass ratio of arachidonic acid (AA) (C20:4 n-6) to DHA (C22:6 n-3) compared to that of the control due to both a significant decrease in the AA content and a simultaneous pronounced increase in the DHA content; and (iii) an almost twofold decrease in the mass ratio of the total amounts of n-6 to n-3 PUFAs compared to that of the control.
