Abstract
To evaluate the physiological responses to titanium dioxide nanoparticles exposure in pearl oysters (Pinctada fucata martensii), pearl oysters were exposed for 14 days to different levels (0.05, 0.5, and 5 mg/L) of nano-TiO2 suspensions, while a control group did not undergo any nano-TiO2 treatment. And then recovery experiments were performed for 7 days without nano-TiO2 exposure. At days 1, 3, 7, 14, 17, and 21, hepatopancreatic tissue samples were collected and used to examine the activities of protease, amylase, lipase, catalase (CAT), glutathione peroxidase (GPx), superoxide dismutase (SOD), lysozyme (LYS), alkaline phosphatase (AKP), and acid phosphatase (ACP). The microstructure of the nacreous layer in shell was also analyzed by scanning electron microscopy. Results showed that pearl oysters exposed to 5 mg/L of TiO2 nanoparticles had significantly lower protease, amylase, and lipase activities and significantly higher CAT, SOD, GPx, LYS, ACP, and AKP activities than control pearl oysters did even after 7-day recovery (P-values <0.05). Pearl oysters exposed to 0.5 mg/L or 0.05 mg/L of TiO2 nanoparticles had lower protease, amylase, and lipase activities and higher CAT, SOD, GPx, LYS, ACP, and AKP activities than control pearl oysters did during the exposure period. After 7-day recovery, no significant differences in protease, lipase, SOD, GPx, CAT, ACP, AKP, or LYS activities were observed between pearl oysters exposed to 0.05 mg/L of TiO2 nanoparticles and control pearl oysters (P-values >0.05). In the period from day 7 to day 14, indistinct and irregular nacreous layer crystal structure in shell was observed. This study demonstrates that TiO2 nanoparticles exposure influences the levels of digestion, immune function, oxidative stress, and biomineralization in pearl oysters, which can be partially and weakly alleviated by short-term recovery. These findings contribute to understanding the mechanisms of action of TiO2 nanoparticles in bivalves. However, studies should evaluate whether a longer recovery period can restore to their normal levels in the future.

Abstract
Artificial magnetic fields are unavoidable environment for offshore marine organisms. With the substantially increasing submarine cables, the impact of magnetic field generated by cables on marine organisms has gradually attracted people's attention. However, there are few studies on the effect of magnetic field on molluscs. To explore whether magnetic fields could interfere with the physiological functions of offshore molluscs, here we systematically analyzed the change of metabolism and transcriptome of Elysia leucolegnote exposed to either geomagnetic field or 1.1 T static magnetic field. The blood glucose and lipid levels, as well as the activities of antioxidant enzymes in E. leucolegnote were significantly increased upon the exposure to high static magnetic field for 10 days. Meanwhile, the activities of enzymes related to digestive performance and liver functions were decreased. Possible mechanisms were further revealed through comparative transcriptome analysis. A total of 836 differentially expressed genes were identified, 352 of which were up-regulated and 484 of which were down-regulated after exposure to the high static magnetic field. The up-regulated differential genes were mainly concentrated in lysosomal and apoptotic pathways, and down-regulated differential genes were mainly involved in digestive and immune systems including phagocytosis. This pattern was further confirmed by RT-qPCR analysis. In conclusion, prolonged exposure to a 1.1 T static magnetic field increased oxidative stress and blood glucose and lipid levels, and decreased immunity and physiological conditions in E. leucolegnote. The data we presented here provides a comprehensive view of metabolism change and gene expression pattern of E. leucolegnote exposed to static magnetic field. It may expand our knowledge on the magnetic field effects on offshore mollusc at molecular level, and contribute to clarification of the interaction between marine animals and artificial magnetic fields, which is certainly ecologically important.

Abstract
Anthropogenic noise in the marine environment has become a global environmental pollutant that affects the behavior, physiology and immunity of marine animals. However, the resistance of marine animals to pathogens while under the influence of noise is a topic that has received little attention. To assess the immune defense response of sea slugs against pathogens when exposed to low frequency noise, we performed 120 h exposure experiments on sea slugs after a Vibrio parahaemolyticus application in low frequency noise at 500 Hz and 1000 Hz. We found that after the infection with V. parahaemolyticus, the survival rate of the sea slugs decreased, the apoptosis rate and reactive oxygen species (ROS) production of hemocytes increased significantly (P < 0.05), the proliferation of hemocytes accelerated, the activities of enzymes such as superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), alkaline phosphatase (AKP), alanine transaminase (ALT) and lysozyme (LZM) in the hepatopancreas increased significantly, and the expression of TNF signaling pathway-related genes (TNF-α, FADD, Caspase 8, Caspase 3) and Hsp70 genes were generally upregulated. In addition, exposure of sea slug after infected with V. parahaemolyticus to low frequency noise resulted in a significant increase in both antioxidant and immune parameters, which were positively correlated with frequency. The results showed that noise frequency and exposure time had an interactive effect on the above indicators. In summary, low-frequency noise exposure increases the risk of pathogenic infections in sea slugs and exacerbates the negative effects on the antioxidant capacity and immune metabolism of the organism.
