Abstract
In the present work, we present the superior corrosion inhibition properties of three plant-based products, Fraxinus excelsior (FEAE), Zingiber zerumbet (ZZAE), and Isatis tinctoria (ITAE), that efficiently inhibit the corrosion of mild steel in phosphoric acid. The anti-corrosion and adsorption characteristics were assessed using a combination of experimental and computational approaches. Weight loss, potentiodynamic polarization, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy methods were used to evaluate the inhibitive performance of the inhibitors on the metal surface. Then, both DFT/DFTB calculations and molecular dynamic simulations were further adopted to investigate the interaction between organic inhibitor molecules and the metal surface. The protective layers assembled using the active constituents, such as carbonyl and hydroxyl groups, of the three plant-based products offer high electrochemical stability at high temperatures and robust protection against aggressive acidic solutions. All electrochemical measurements showed that the inhibition performance of extracts increased by increasing their concentration and improved in the following order: FEAE > ZZAE > ITAE. Further, these extracts worked as mixed-type inhibitors to block the anodic and cathodic active sites on the mild steel surface. Multi-level computational approaches revealed that FEAE is the most adsorbed inhibitor owing to its ability to provide electron lone pairs for electrophilic reactions. The experimental and theoretical results showed good agreement. These results indicate the possibility of replacing conventional compounds with natural substituted organic products in the fabrication of hybrid materials with effective anti-corrosion performance.

Abstract
This study reports the synthesis, characterization and importance of a novel diethyl 2-(2-(2-(3-methyl-2-oxoquinoxalin-1(2H)-yl)acetyl)hydrazono)malonate (MQOAHM). Two independent molecular structures of the disordered MQOAHM have been established by XRD‑single‑crystal analysis in a ratio of 0.596(3)/0.404(3), MQOAHM (a) and MQOAHM (b), respectively. MQOAHM was characterized by means of various spectroscopic tools ESI-MS, IR, 1H &13C NMR analyses. Density Functional Theory (DFT) method, B3LYP, 6-311++G(d,p) basis set was used to optimize MQOAHM molecule. The obtained theoretical structure and experimental structure were superimposed on each other, and the correlation between them was calculated. The Highest Occupied Molecular Orbital (HOMO) and Lowest Unoccupied Molecular Orbital (LUMO) were created, and the energy gap between these orbitals was calculated. For analyzing intermolecular interactions, Molecular Electrostatic Potential (MEP) and Hirshfeld Surface Analysis were studied. For a fair comparative study, the two forms of the title compound were docked together with 18 approved drugs and N3 under precisely the same conditions. The disordered molecule structure's binding scores against 7BQY were -7.0 and -6.9 kcal/mol-1 for MQOAHM (a) and MQOAHM (b), respectively. Both the forms show almost identical superimposed structures and scores indicating that the disorder of the molecule, in this study, has no obvious effect. The high binding score of the molecule was attributed to the multi-hydrogen bond and hydrophobic interactions between the ligand and the receptor's active amino acid residues. Worth pointing out here that the aim of using the free energy in Silico molecular docking approach is to rank the title molecule compared to the wide range of approved drugs and a well-established ligand N3. The binding scores of all the molecules used in this study are ranged from -9.9 to -4.5 kcal/mol-1. These results and the supporting statistical analyses suggest that this malonate-based ligand merits further research in the context of possible therapeutic agents for COVID-19. Cheap computational techniques, PASS, Way2drug and ADMET, online software tools, were used in this study to uncover the title compound's potential biological activities and cytotoxicity.

Abstract
Molecular dynamics (MD) simulation is a powerful tool to study the molecular level working mechanism of corrosion inhibitors in mitigating corrosion. In the past decades, MD simulation has emerged as an instrument to investigate the interactions at the interface between the inhibitor molecule and the metal surface. Combined with experimental measurement, theoretical examination from MD simulation delivers useful information on the adsorption ability and orientation of the molecule on the surface. It relates the microscopic characteristics to the macroscopic properties which enables researchers to develop high performance inhibitors. Although there has been vast growth in the number of studies that use molecular dynamic evaluation, there is still lack of comprehensive review specifically for corrosion inhibition of organic inhibitors on ferrous metal in acidic solution. Much uncertainty still exists on the approaches and steps in performing MD simulation for corrosion system. This paper reviews the basic principle of MD simulation along with methods, selection of parameters, expected result such as adsorption energy, binding energy and inhibitor orientation, and recent publications in corrosion inhibition studies.

Plant Extracts as Green Corrosion Inhibitors for Different Metal Surfaces and Corrosive Media: A Review. Processes (Basel) 2020. Abstract
Natural extracts have been widely used to protect metal materials from corrosion. The efficiency of these extracts as corrosion inhibitors is commonly evaluated through electrochemical tests, which include techniques such as potentiodynamic polarization, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and weight loss measurement. The inhibition efficiency of different extract concentrations is a valuable indicator to obtain a clear outlook to choose an extract for a particular purpose. A complementary vision of the effectiveness of green extracts to inhibit the corrosion of metals is obtained by means of surface characterizations; atomic force microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis are experimental techniques widely used for this purpose. Moreover, theoretical studies are usually addressed to elucidate the nature of the corrosion inhibitor—metal surface interactions. In addition, calculations have been employed to predict how other organic substances behave on metal surfaces and to provide experimental work with fresh proposals. This work reports a broad overview of the current state of the art research on the study of new extracts as corrosion inhibitors on metal surfaces in corrosive media. Most constituents obtained from plant extracts are adsorbed on the metal, following the Langmuir adsorption model. Electron-rich regions and heteroatoms have been found to be responsible for chemisorption on the metal surface, whereas physisorption is due to the polar regions of the inhibitor molecules. The plant extracts compiled in this work obtained corrosion inhibition efficiencies above 60%, most of them around 80–90%. The effect of concentration, extraction solvent, temperature, and immersion time were studied as well. Additional studies regarding plant extracts as corrosion inhibitors on metals are needed to produce solutions for industrial purposes.
