Abstract
We report the formation of dinuclear complexes from, and photochemical oxidation of, (CH3)3-Pt(IV)(N^N) (N^N = 1,2-diimine derivatives) complexes of thiophenolate ligands to the analogous sulfinates (CH3)3Pt(N^N)(SO2Ph) and structural, spectroscopic, and theoretical studies of the latter revealing tunable photophysics depending upon the 1,2-diimine ligands. Electron-rich thiolate and conjugated 1,2-diimines encourage formation of thiolate-bridged dinuclear complexes; smaller 1,2-diimines or electron-poor thiolates favor mononuclear complexes. Photooxidation of the thiolate ligand yields hitherto unreported Pt(IV)-SO2R complexes, promoted by electron-deficient thiolates such as 4-nitrothiophenol, which exclusively forms the sulfinate complex. Such complexes exhibit expected absorptions due to π-π* ligand transitions of the 1,2-diimines mixed with spin-allowed singlet MLCT (d-π*) at relatively high energy (270-290 nm), as well as unexpected broad, lower energy absorptions between 360 and 490 nm. DFT data indicate that these low energy absorption bands result from excitation of Pt-S and Pt-C σ-bonding electrons to π* orbitals on sulfinate and 1,2-diimine, the latter of which gives rise to emission in the visible range.

Abstract
Described herein is the first example of glycosidation of thioglycosides in the presence of palladium(ii) bromide. While the activation with PdBr2 alone was proven feasible, higher yields and cleaner reactions were achieved when these glycosylations were performed in the presence of propargyl bromide as an additive. Preliminary mechanistic studies suggest that propargyl bromide assists the reaction by creating an ionizing complex, which accelerates the leaving group departure. A variety of thioglycoside donors in reactions with different glycosyl acceptors were investigated to determine the initial scope of this new reaction. Selective and chemoselective activation of thioglycosides over other leaving groups has also been explored.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Combination of biologically active ligand and metal in one molecule may increase the activity and reduce the toxicity. OBJECTIVES In this study synthesis and characterization of platinum(IV) complexes with bioactive hydrazide ligands is discussed. METHOD Elemental analysis, conductivity measurements and spectroscopic studies were used to elucidate the structure of complexes. RESULTS Our study suggests that hydrazide ligands coordinate with Pt(IV) in bidenate fashion. The platinum(IV) complexes have octahedral geometry with metal to ligand ratio of 1:2. Hydrazide ligands coordinated with central metal platinum(IV) by oxygen of carbonyl group and nitrogen of primary amine. Synthesized complexes exhibited variable DPPH radical scavenging and lipoxygenase inhibition activity. Furthermore, it is also found that Pt(IV)-hydrazide complexes are more potent superoxide and nitric oxide radical scavengers than their uncoordinated hydrazide ligands while in case of lipoxygenase enzyme inhibition, some of the free hydrazide ligands are more active than their respective Pt(IV) complexes. In silico docking technique explores molecular interactions of synthesized ligands in the active site of lipoxygenase enzyme. Predicted docking energies are in good agreement with experimental data suggesting that in silico studies might be useful for discovery of therapeutic candidates. CONCLUSION Structure function relationship demonstrates that the radical scavenging and enzyme inhibition activities of the Pt(IV) compounds are effected by nature of ligand, position of substituent, electronic and steric effects. However, electronic factor seem to play more important role than other factors.

Abstract
In the title compound, [Pt(CH3)3I(C12H12N2)], the PtIV atom is six-coordinated in a slightly distorted octahedral configuration with one CH3 group and the I atom forming a near perpendicular axis relative to the square plane formed by the bipyridine ligand and the two remaining CH3 groups. The CH3 group trans to the I atom has a slightly elongated bond to Pt compared to the other CH3 groups, indicating a difference in trans influence between iodine and the bipyridine ligand.

Abstract
The asymmetric unit of the title complex, [Pt(CH(3))(3)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(C(4)H(7)NS(2))]BF(4), contains two crystallographically independent mol-ecules. The Pt(IV) atom in each complex cation exhibits a distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry, built up by three methyl ligands in a facial binding fashion, a bipyridine ligand and a monodentately N-bound 2-methyl-sulfanyl-2-thia-zoline ligand (configuration index: OC-6-33). In the crystal structure, weak inter-molecular C-H⋯F hydrogen bonds are found between the complex cations and BF(4) (-) anions.

Abstract
Reactions of fac-[PtMe3(4,4'-R2bpy)(Me2CO)][BF4] (R = H, 1a; tBu, 1b) and fac-[PtMe3(OAc-kappa2O,O')(Me2CO)] (2), respectively, with thioglycosides containing thioethyl (ch-SEt) and thioimidate (ch-STaz, Taz = thiazoline-2-yl) anomeric groups led to the formation of the carbohydrate platinum(IV) complexes fac-[PtMe3(4,4-R2bpy)(ch*)][BF4] (ch* = ch-SEt, 8-14; ch-STaz, 15-23) and fac-[PtMe3(OAc-kappa2O,O')(ch*)] (ch* = ch-SEt, 24-28; ch-STaz = 29-35), respectively. NMR (1H, 13C, 195Pt) spectroscopic investigations and a single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis of 19 (ch-STaz = 2-thiazolinyl 2,3,4,6-tetra-O-benzoyl-1-thio-beta-D-galactopyranose) revealed the S coordination of the ch-SEt glycosides and the N coordination of the ch-STaz glycosides. Furthermore, X-ray structure analyses of the two decomposition products fac-[PtMe3(bpy)(STazH-kappaS)][BF4] (21a) and 1,6-anhydro-2,3,4-tri-O-benzoyl-beta-D-glucopyranose (23a), where a cleavage of the anomeric C-S bond had occurred in both cases, gave rise to the assumption that this decomposition was mediated due to coordination of the thioglycosides to the high electrophilic platinum(IV) atom, in non-strictly dried solutions. Reactions of fac-[PtMe3(Me2CO)3][BF4] (3) with ch-SEt as well as with ch-SPT and ch-Sbpy thioglycosides (PT = 4-(pyridine-2-yl)-thiazole-2-yl; bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine-6-yl), having N,S and N,N heteroaryl anomeric groups, respectively, led to the formation of platinum(IV) complexes of the type fac-[PtMe3(ch*)][BF4] (ch* = ch-SEt, 36-40, ch-SPT 42-44, ch-Sbpy 45, 46). The thioglycosides were found to be coordinated in a tridentate kappaS,kappa2O,O, kappaS,kappaN,kappaO and kappaS,kappa2N,N coordination mode, respectively. Analogous reactions with ch-STaz ligands succeeded for 2-thiazolinyl 2,3,4-tri-O-benzyl-6-O-(2,2'-bipyridine-6-yl)-1-thio-beta-D-glucopyranoside (5h) resulting in fac-[PtMe3(ch-STaz)][BF4] (41, ch-STaz = 5h), having a kappa3N,N',N''coordinated thioglycoside ligand.

Abstract
Reactions of AgI with salts of [WS(4)](2-) or [MoS(4)](2-) and with either imidazolidine-2-thione (Imt) or [1,3]diazepane-2-thione (Diap) give the complexes [WS(4)Ag(2)(Imt)(2)](n) and [MS(4)Ag(2)(Diap)(4)] [M = W or Mo]; in the case of Diap, corresponding Cu complexes can be obtained with CuCl instead of AgI. Decomposition of the Ag-Diap complexes during attempted recrystallization leads to the polymeric complex [AgI(Diap)](n). The monomeric mixed-metal Diap complexes contain edge-sharing WS(4) and AgS(4) tetrahedra, the Diap ligands being terminally bonded to Ag through sulfur. The mixed-metal W-Ag-Imt complex is a chain polymer with two different environments for the WS(4) unit and three different coordination environments for Ag, one of which is an unprecedented AgS(5) square-based pyramid; Imt ligands are terminally coordinated to Ag. [AgI(Diap)](n) has a complex polymeric chain structure with three different distorted tetrahedral environments for Ag, direct Ag-Ag bonding, both bridging and terminal I, and all Diap ligands bridging pairs of Ag atoms. All the crystal structures feature N-H[...]S or N-H[...]I hydrogen bonding. The complexes have also been characterised by infrared, UV-Vis and (1)H and (13)C NMR spectroscopy.
