Abstract
The catalytic activity of [(Ph2P-o-C6H4)2N]PdCl in aerobic aqueous Suzuki couplings is described. Though hydrophobic, this molecular catalyst is competent in cross-coupling reactions of arylboronic acids with a variety of electronically activated, unactivated, and deactivated aryl iodides, bromides, and chlorides upon heating in aqueous solutions under aerobic conditions to give biphenyl derivatives without the necessity of amphiphiles even in the presence of an excess amount of mercury.

Abstract
Nanotechnology has transformed the world with its diverse applications, ranging from industrial developments to impacting our daily lives. It has multiple applications throughout financial sectors and enables the development of facilitating scientific endeavors with extensive commercial potentials. Nanomaterials, especially the ones which have shown biomedical and other health-related properties, have added new dimensions to the field of nanotechnology. Recently, the use of bioresources in nanotechnology has gained significant attention from the scientific community due to its 100 % eco-friendly features, availability, and low costs. In this context, jute offers a considerable potential. Globally, its plant produces the second most common natural cellulose fibers and a large amount of jute sticks as a byproduct. The main chemical compositions of jute fibers and sticks, which have a trace amount of ash content, are cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin. This makes jute as an ideal source of pure nanocellulose, nano-lignin, and nanocarbon preparation. It has also been used as a source in the evolution of nanomaterials used in various applications. In addition, hemicellulose and lignin, which are extractable from jute fibers and sticks, could be utilized as a reductant/stabilizer for preparing other nanomaterials. This review highlights the status and prospects of jute in nanotechnology. Different research areas in which jute can be applied, such as in nanocellulose preparation, as scaffolds for other nanomaterials, catalysis, carbon preparation, life sciences, coatings, polymers, energy storage, drug delivery, fertilizer delivery, electrochemistry, reductant, and stabilizer for synthesizing other nanomaterials, petroleum industry, paper industry, polymeric nanocomposites, sensors, coatings, and electronics, have been summarized in detail. We hope that these prospects will serve as a precursor of jute-based nanotechnology research in the future.

Abstract
An easy access to a series of previously unreported heterodinuclear Pd-Ln compounds, Pd-bpydc-La, Pd-bpydc-Ce and Pd-bpydc-Nd (bpydc = 2,2'-bipyridine-5,5'-dicarboxylate) has been developed. The Pd-Ln hybrid networks were effectively applied as catalysts in Suzuki⁻Miyaura C-C cross-coupling reactions of 4-bromoanisole and 4-bromobenzonitrile with phenylboronic acid, under mild conditions. A systematic investigation revealed Pd-bpydc-Nd as the most active catalyst. In all cases, reaction yields varied with the base, catalyst loading and substantially augmented with temperature (from 30 to 60 °C). Substituent effects were operative when changing from 4-bromoanisole to 4-bromobenzonitrile. The key role played by the lanthanides, aromatic substrate and base, in modulating the Pd-catalytic cycle has been highlighted. Importantly, the new catalysts proved to be stable in air and vs. functionalities and are quite efficient in Suzuki⁻Miyaura carbon-carbon bond formation conducted in protic solvents.

Abstract
2-(Methylthio)aniline (L1), a bidentate (S,N) ligand synthesized by the reaction of o-aminothiophenol with methyl iodide, on reacting with Na2PdCl4 in acetone and water gives a complex [PdL1Cl2] (1). Single crystal X-ray diffraction studies have revealed that the geometry of palladium in 1 is nearly square-planar and the ligand L1 is bound to the palladium through S and N in a bidentate coordination mode forming a five membered chelate ring. This complex functions as a thermally and air stable catalyst of high efficiency for Suzuki-Miyaura CC coupling reactions in water. It catalyzes CC coupling between various aryl bromides and phenylboronic acid under mild reaction conditions in water. TON value up to 93,000 has been obtained.

Abstract
Many reports on water-compatible palladium catalysts have appeared in the recent literature. For hydrophobic substrates, mixtures with pure water are biphasic, and it is widely not regarded that the elusive locality of the catalytic process (in water, the organic layer, or at the phase boundary) has an important impact on the mechanism and efficiency of the reaction. In the present work, for the first time systematic variation of reaction parameters has been performed for Suzuki coupling experiments with chloro- and bromoarenes in pure water. The investigations are not only aimed at the factors influencing the catalytic activity, but also at the effects that may occur particularly in water/organic biphasic media, and on the question as to in which of the two liquid phases the reaction takes place. These investigations have revealed that dilution of the base (in the aqueous layer) and the Pd species (in the organic layer) are detrimental to the reaction, and that phase-transfer processes play a major role in the overall mechanism. A series of experiments with variation of parameters like precatalyst hydrophilicity, organic and water phase volume, additives, stirring rate, base concentration, and so forth, indicate that for the systems under study the reaction occurs in the organic layer. The water phase needs to be present to dissolve and provide polar reactants, and re-absorb side products. The results encourage to pay more regard to the question of phase locality of coupling reactions in water in general.
