Abstract
The major part of water pollutants includes of organic such as phenolic pollutant, thus there are every hazardous to environment. Present work is a comparative onto surface chemistry and adsorptive characteristics of coordinate organic polymer (Cop-150) and nanoporous carbon (NPC) prepared using solvothermal method. New NPC was successfully synthesized to remove of phenol. FT-IR, XRD, XPS, SEM, TGA, and BET techniques have been used to characterization and confirm physicochemical variation during preparing Cop-150 and NPC. Box-Behnken response surface methodology (BBRSM) was used to optimize four important factors of the pH (2-10), contact time (1-40 min), temperature (25-60 °C), and initial concentration of phenol (5-50 mg L-1). To analyze the data obtained from the adsorption of phenol by synthesized adsorbents, four linear, 2FI, quadratic and cubic models were examined, which the quadratic model was recognized as the best model. To the NPC the equal adsorption capacity 500 mg g-1 is achieved at the initial concentration of phenol = 49.252 mg L-1, contact time = 15.738 min, temperature = 28.3 °C, and pH 7.042. On the other hand, the adsorption capacity for Cop-150 in pH 4.638, the contact time = 19.695 min, the temperature = 56.8 °C, and the initial concentration of phenol = 6.902 mg L-1 was equal to 50 mg g-1. The experimental data at different conditions were investigated by some famous kinetic and isotherm models, which among them, were corresponded to the pseudo-second-order kinetic model and the Langmuir isotherm. Moreover, based to result of thermodynamics to the both Cop-150 and NPC, the adsorption process is exothermic and spontaneous. According to results the Cop-150 and NPC could be used for up to four and five cycles without significantly reducing their performance, respectively.

Abstract
In this work, a conductive hydrogel was successfully synthesized, taking advantage of the high number density of active amino and hydroxyl groups in carboxymethyl chitosan and sodium carboxymethyl cellulose. These biopolymers were effectively coupled via hydrogen bonding with the nitrogen atoms of the heterocyclic rings of conductive polypyrrole. The inclusion of another biobased polymer, sodium lignosulfonate (LS), was effective to achieve highly efficient adsorption and in-situ reduction of silver ions, leading to silver nanoparticles that were embedded in the hydrogel network and used to further improve the electro-catalytic efficiency of the system. Doping of the system in the pre-gelled state led to hydrogels that could be easily attached to the electrodes. The as-prepared silver nanoparticle-embedded conductive hydrogel electrode exhibited excellent electro-catalytic activity towards hydroquinone (HQ) present in a buffer solution. At the optimum conditions, the oxidation current density peak of HQ was linear over the 0.1-100 μM concentration range, with a detection limit as low as 0.12 μM (signal-to-noise of 3). The relative standard deviation of the anodic peak current intensity was 1.37% for eight different electrodes. After one week of storage in a 0.1 M Tris-HCl buffer solution at 4 °C, the anodic peak current intensity was 93.4% of the initial current intensity. In addition, this sensor showed no interference activity, while the addition of 30 μM CC, RS, or 1 mM of different inorganic ions does not have a significant impact on the test results, enabling HQ quantification in actual water samples.

Abstract
GO/HEC/PGDE/Fe3O4 materials were successfully fabricated using environmentally-friendly hydroxyethyl cellulose (HEC), poly(ethylene glycol) diglycidyl ether (PGDE), graphene oxide (GO) and magnetic Fe3O4. Systematic investigations were completed to explore the influences of GO content in GO/HEC/PGDE/Fe3O4 and adsorption conditions on the adsorptions of cationic dyes (methylene blue (MB), crystal violet (CV)) and anionic dye acid blue 25 (AB-25). The increase of GO content can remarkably improve the adsorption capacity of GO/HEC/PGDE/Fe3O4 for the dyes. The three kinetic, four isothermic and three thermodynamic models were investigated to reveal the adsorption behaviors of the dyes. The formation of HEC/PGDE/Fe3O4 and adsorption mechanisms of the dyes by GO/HEC/PGDE/Fe3O4 were suggested. The GO/HEC/PGDE/Fe3O4 endowed with easy-fabrication, eco-friendly feature, efficient adsorption capacity of anionic/cationic dyes, convenient separation and reusability has potential applications in wastewater purification industry.

Abstract
Water pollution is one of the most aggravated problems threatening the sustainability of human race and other life forms due to the rapid pace of civilization and industrialization. A long history exists of release of hazardous pollutants into the water bodies due to selfish human activities since the Industrial Revolution, but no effort has been completely successful in curbing the activities that result in the degradation of our environment. These pollutants are harmful, carcinogenic and have adverse health effects to all forms of life. Thus, remarkable efforts have been geared up to obtain clean water by exploiting science and technology. The application of Ionic liquids (ILs) as sustainable materials have received widespread attention since the last decade. Their interesting properties, simplicity in operation and satisfactory binding capacities in elimination of the contaminants makes them a valuable prospect to be utilized in wastewater treatment. Immobilizing and grafting the solid supports with ILs have fetched efficient results to exploit their potential in the adsorptive removal processes. This review provides an understanding of the recent developments and outlines the possible utility of IL based nano adsorbents in the removal of organic compounds, dyes and heavy metal ions from aqueous medium. Effect of several parameters such as sorbent dosage, pH and temperature on the removal efficiency has also been discussed. Moreover, the adsorption isotherms, thermodynamics and mechanism are comprehensively studied. It is envisioned that the literature gathered in this article will guide the budding scientists to put their interest in this area of research in the days to come.

Abstract
Deep eutectic solvents are a new generation of green solvents composed of hydrogen bond acceptors and donors. However, when used as extractants in liquid–liquid separation, they are difficult to recycle and easy to lose. In order to solve these problems, herein, immobilized hydrogen bond acceptor adsorbent material was prepared for the separation and enrichment of antiviral drug arbidol from seven kinds of environmental water samples by in situ formation of hydrophobic deep eutectic solvents. The structure, morphology and thermal stability of the adsorbents were characterized, the separation and enrichment conditions for the targeted analyte were optimized, and the adsorption thermodynamics and kinetics were investigated. It was found that the adsorbent material could effectively enrich trace arbidol with the recovery more than 95% at the concentration above 7.5 ng/mL, and the enrichment factor was as high as 634.7. Coexisting substances, such as NaCl, KCl, CaCl2 and MgCl2, did not interfere with the adsorption of arbidol, even if their concentration was high, up to 1.0 mol/L, and the relative recovery for real samples was in the range from 92.5% to 100.3%. Furthermore, the immobilized hydrogen bond acceptor could be recycled and reused, and the recovery of arbidol was still above 95% after 12 adsorption–desorption cycles. The mechanism study demonstrates that the synergistic effect of hydrogen bonding and π-π stacking is the primary factor for the high adsorption efficiency.

Optimized Removal of Hydroquinone and Resorcinol by Activated Carbon Based on Shea Residue (Vitellaria paradoxa): Thermodynamics, Adsorption Mechanism, Nonlinear Kinetics, and Isotherms. J CHEM-NY 2022. Abstract
The present work demonstrates the adsorption of hydroquinone (HQ) and resorcinol (R) by activated carbon based on shea residue (Vitellaria paradoxa). The adsorbent was prepared chemically by impregnation with sulfuric acid and coded by the acronym CAK-S. The central composite design (CCD) was used to optimize the main factors that influence the adsorption of HQ or R by activated carbon such as the initial concentration, the pH of the solution, the contact time, and the mass of the carbon on the expected response, which is the adsorbed quantity of the target pollutants. The optimal conditions obtained from the statistical analysis are as follows: concentration of 158 mg/L, pH 3, time of 120 min, and mass of 50 mg for the adsorption of HQ and concentration of 180 mg/L, pH 3, time of 86 min, and mass of 118 mg for the adsorption of R. The maximum quantities of HQ and R adsorbed are 45.02 mg/g and 33.65 mg/g, respectively. The analysis of variance (ANOVA) showed a good relationship between the variables involved with the coefficients of determination R2 = 98.69% for the adsorption of hydroquinone and R2 = 90.55% for that of resorcinol, which means that the model is more suitable to express the adsorbed amount according to the four optimized parameters. The experimental data obtained under these optimal conditions were simulated with two and three parameter nonlinear isotherm models as well as kinetic models. The results show that Elovich kinetic model better describes the adsorption of HQ and R, indicating chemisorption with heterogeneous active sites on the surface of CAK-S. Temkin’s two-parameter model shows that adsorption occurs on heterogeneous surfaces with a nonuniform adsorption energy distribution at the surface and Sips’s three-parameter model confirms the heterogeneity of the surface with a localized adsorption of HQ or R by CAK-S. The thermodynamics study has shown that the adsorption is endothermic (
) and spontaneous (

Abstract
The purposes of this work were to synthesize the core-shell magnetic and nonmagnetic supported bimetallic metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) on the walnut-based activated carbon by the facile preparation method to investigate the feasibility of the performance adsorption of hydroquinone in the aqueous solutions. Activated carbon as a substrate and nickel, copper, and trimesic acid were employed in the structure of the prepared MOFs. The adsorbents were characterized by XRD, FTIR, FESEM, EDX, TEM, BET, and VSM analysis. The goethite and magnetite phases were detected in the morphology of the magnetic adsorbent as confirmed by the XRD pattern. Increases in the pH value from 6 and the adsorption temperature led to a lower adsorption capacity of the samples. The maximum adsorption capacity for the well-dispersed nanoparticles of magnetic (NiCu-MOF@MAC and nonmagnetic (NiCu-MOF@AC) was calculated to be 303.03 and 454.54 mg/g by using linear Langmuir isotherm as an appropriate model, respectively. The achievements from the reusability evaluation illustrated that the magnetic bimetallic MOF nanocomposite could successfully be applied to remove hydroquinone from the wastewater on an industrial scale. The kinetic experimental data was in good agreement with the pseudo-second-order model.

Abstract
In this study, polyaniline (PANI) is prepared by means of chemical oxidization polymerization and directly loaded on the modified fiber ball (m-FB) to obtain macroscale polyaniline/modified fiber ball (PANI/m-FB) composite, and then its removal ability of Cr(VI) is investigated. The effects of different parameters such as contact time, pH value and initial concentration on Cr(VI) removal efficiency are discussed. The experimental results illustrate that the favorable pH value is 5.0 and the maximum removal capacity is measured to be 293.13 mg g-1. Besides, PANI/m-FB composites can be regenerated and reused after being treated with strong acid. The kinetic study indicates that the adsorption procedure is mainly controlled by chemical adsorption. More importantly, the macroscale of composites can avoid secondary pollution efficiently. Benefiting from the low cost, easy preparation in large scale, environmentally friendly, excellent recycling performance as well as high removal ability, PANI/m-FB composites exhibit a potential possibility to remove Cr(VI) from industrial waste water. The polyaniline (PANI) was coated on modified fiber ball (m-FB) to remove Cr(VI) in waste water, and this kind of PANI/m-FB composites can avoid secondary pollution efficiently due to its macrostructure. Furthermore, the removal capacity can reach to 291.13 mg/g and can be multiple reused.

Abstract
Water scarcity motivated the scientific researcher to develop efficient technologies for the wastewater treatment for its reuse. Ionic liquids have been applied to many industrial and analytical separation processes, but their applications in the wastewater treatment, especially in the removal of organic pollutants, are still not well explored. Potential applications of ionic liquids include solvent extraction, solvent membrane technologies and ionic liquid-modified materials that are mainly used as adsorbents. Aforementioned technologies have been examined for the abatement of phenol, chloro- and nitrophenols, toluene, bisphenol A, phthalates, pesticides, dyes, and pharmaceuticals etc. Present review enlightens the application of different ionic liquids in wastewater treatment and suggests the versatility of ionic liquids in the development of rapid, effective and selective removal processes for the variety of organic pollutants. Implementation of ionic liquid based technologies for wastewater treatment have lots of challenges including the selection of non-hazardous ionic liquids, technological applications, high testing requirements for individual uses and scaling-up of the entire pollutant removal, disposal, and ionic liquid regeneration process. Toxicity assessment of water soluble ionic liquids (ILs) is the major issue due to the widespread application of ILs and hence more exposure of environment by ILs. The development of effective technologies for the recovery/treatment of wastewater contaminated with ILs is necessary from the environmental point of view. Furthermore, the cost factor is the major challenge associated with ionic liquid-based technologies.

Abstract
In this study, we have attempted to extract cellulose fiber from newspaper waste for circular economy project. Cellulose was successfully extracted from newspaper waste with high purity. It was further developed as a composite with Fe3O4 powder. 10-30 wt% of Fe3O4 was synthesized from conventional synthetic route and it was uniformly distributed into cellulose suspension. The composite was prepared by freeze-dry technique in order to remove water and create the porosity. X-ray diffraction and thermogravimetric analysis were employed to characterize the structural and thermal properties of composite. Scanning electron microscope with energy dispersion analysis can be confirmed that uniformity of cellulose and the existence of Fe3O4 powder. Frequency dependence of dielectric properties was used to imply the polarity enhancement of composite. Preliminary adsorption of composite as adsorbent material for Congo red was investigated.

Abstract
The objective of this study was to develop three-dimensional collagen/gelatin/hydroxyethyl cellulose composites in combination with gelatin or collagen-gelatin loaded microspheres. Microspheres were prepared by an emulsification/crosslinking method. A 1-Ethyl-3-(3-dimethyl-aminopropyl)-carbodiimide (EDC) and N-hydroxysuccinimide (NHS) mixture were used as a crosslinking agent for the obtained materials. The structure of the materials was studied using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and infrared spectroscopy. Moreover, a Calendula officinalis (pot marigold) flower extract release profile of the microsphere-loaded matrices was assessed in vitro. Additionally, porosity, density, stability, swelling and mechanical properties were tested. On the basis of SEM images, the microspheres exhibited a spherical shape and were irregularly dispersed in the polymer matrix. However, it was found that the addition of microparticles to obtained materials did not significantly change their microstructure. We observed a slight decrease in the swelling properties of matrices and an increase in values of Young's modulus. Significantly, the addition of microspheres to the polymer matrices led to improved loading capacity of materials and release performance of Calendula officinalis flower extract. This makes the collagen/gelatin/hydroxyethyl cellulose composites containing microspheres a promising and suitable vehicle for biomedical, dermatological, or cosmetic applications.
