Do IT freelancers increase their entrepreneurial behavior and performance by using IT self-efficacy and social capital? Evidence from Bangladesh

A COVID-19 disruption: The great acceleration of digitally planned and transformed behaviors in Thailand

The Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has reshaped human behaviors and switched communication systems from face-to-face to digital communication technologies. This study aimed to examine how digital transformation practices affect human behavioral change digitally, and how perceived COVID-19 severity affects digital transformation practices and behavioral decisions. We use the traditional theory of planned behavior (TPB) to determine new behavioral roles in the digital era, namely digitally planned and transformed behavior. The quantitative survey method was designed to collect cross-sectional data from 550 Thai citizens to provide the conceptual evidence of key proximal measures of digital attitude, digital social norms, digital behavioral control perception, and the digital behavioral decision to predict digitally planned and transformed behavior. The results show that people are more likely to digitalize than before, which predicts the decision to behave digitally at 93.9% of the variability, more than 75% of the predictive power of the total variance suggested by Hair, Ringle, and Sarstedt [1]. However, the higher the COVID-19 severity, the more likely digital transformation is impactful (β = 0.481). This study provides interesting evidence that people struggle to transform their digital behavior during the pandemic. We demonstrate that digital transformation can offer the desired consequences by cultivating digital attitudes, promoting digital social norms, increasing digital behavioral control perception, and enhancing digital behavioral decisions.

The Emerging Liquid IT Workforce: Theorizing Their Personal Competitive Advantage

In this paper we aim to contribute to a better understanding of an emerging phenomenon of 'liquid workforce', which according to industry press, is rapidly growing. Our specific focus is on the broad research questions: How do liquid IT workers remain competitive? What are suitable strategies for their management and engagement? Using the research insights from the interviews with independent liquid IT professionals working on the same mission-critical compliance program in a large financial institution, we propose a new conceptual model of their 'personal competitive advantage' (PCA). Drawing from the theories of human capital and social capital, we theorize PCA as a complex, mutually enhancing (a triple-helix-like) interplay of three highly-intertwined components of 'Doing', 'Relating' and 'Becoming'. Based on the proposed model, we then articulate an initial set of strategies for management and engagement of the liquid workforce. In doing so, we expand and challenge the current IS research on IT workforce that remains focused on its retention and prevention of turnover. Instead, we propose to focus on specific management strategies for building and maintaining social capital within and beyond organizational boundaries.

The Influence Factors of Psychological Understanding and Behavior Choice for Legal Industry Entrepreneurs Based on Artificial Intelligence Technology

This study is aimed to promote China's support for innovation and entrepreneurship in the context of the rapid development of the artificial intelligence industry. Considering the advance law-based governance implemented in this country, the relationship between the psychological understanding and behavior choice of entrepreneurs in the law industry and artificial intelligence industry was explored. The investigation was conducted in the form of questionnaire survey, and the data were collected by sending emails. In addition, the model was established to make the investigation direction clearer. The reliability analysis of the questionnaire was carried out by means of Cronbach α reliability coefficient. The validity analysis of the questionnaire was carried out by Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO) coefficient. The statistical software was used to analyze the correlation between the factors in the investigation. The results show that there is a positive correlation between behavior speed in the psychological understanding of entrepreneurs in the legal industry as well as the entrepreneurial experience and entrepreneur behavior. The concentration of entrepreneurs' behavior is negatively correlated with the entrepreneur's industrial experience. The behavior speed and concentration of entrepreneurs in the artificial intelligence industry are negatively correlated with the age of entrepreneurs, but their entrepreneurial behavior and psychological understanding do not show correlation. The behavior speed and concentration of entrepreneurs in the artificial intelligence industry are positively correlated with product innovation, technological innovation, and market innovation. Therefore, the behavior choice of entrepreneurs in the legal industry are highly correlated with psychological understanding. The entrepreneurs' psychological understanding and behavior choice in the field of artificial intelligence do not show a direct correlation but indirect correlation through indirect factor innovation opportunities. The investigation on entrepreneurs' psychological understanding and behavior choice can provide important theoretical support for entrepreneurs in China's legal industry and artificial intelligence industry.
