Abstract
Traumatic cerebrovascular injury (CVI) involving the cervical carotid and vertebral arteries is rare but can lead to stroke, hemodynamic compromise, and mortality in the absence of early diagnosis and treatment. The diagnosis of both blunt cerebrovascular injury (BCVI) and penetrating CVI is based on cerebrovascular imaging. The most commonly used screening criteria for BCVI include the expanded Denver criteria and the Memphis criteria, each providing varying thresholds for subsequent imaging. Neck CTA has supplanted catheter-based digital subtraction angiography as the preferred screening modality for CVI in patients with trauma. This AJR Expert Panel Narrative Review describes the current state of CTA-based cervical imaging in trauma. We review the most common screening criteria for BCVI, discuss BCVI grading scales that are based on neck CTA, describe the diagnostic performance of CTA in the context of other imaging modalities and evolving treatment strategies, and provide a practical guide for neck CTA implementation.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The optimal stenting approach for traumatic pseudoaneurysms (PSA) of the extracranial internal carotid artery (ICA) remains underinvestigated. We present a case of a traumatic pseudoaneurysm of the extracranial ICA managed with stenting and review of prior published similar cases. METHODS The systematic review followed PRISMA-S guidelines and included studies that investigated traumatic pseudoaneurysms of the extracranial ICA managed by stent placement. Statistical analysis assessed the association between the type of injury and stent type, dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) duration, and clinical presentation, and the association between stent type and DAPT duration. RESULTS Our search yielded 82 publications with 135 patients with extracranial ICA PSA treated with stenting. The odds of neck hematoma presentation was 12.2 times greater for patients with penetrating rather than blunt injuries (P = 0.000002). Covered stents had 2.02 times higher odds of use for penetrating rather than blunt injuries compared to bare metal stents. (P = 0.0029). Shorter duration DAPT was seen with bare metal stents having 1.25 higher odds of DAPT duration less than one month compared to covered (P = 0.001). CONCLUSIONS In traumatic extracranial ICA pseudoaneurysms, covered stents are used more commonly for penetrating injuries compared to blunt injuries. Penetrating injuries are more strongly associated with the presentation of a hematoma compared to blunt injuries. Stent type may influence the recommended DAPT duration. Surgeons should consider these findings when selecting stent type and DAPT duration with patients presenting with traumatic extracranial ICA pseudoaneurysm.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Non-aortic arterial injuries are common and are associated with high morbidity and mortality. Historically, open surgical repair (OSR) was the conventional method of repair. With recent advancements in minimally invasive techniques, endovascular repair (ER) has gained popularity. We sought to compare outcomes in patients undergoing endovascular and open repairs of traumatic non-aortic penetrating arterial injuries. METHODS A systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted using MEDLINE (OVID), Web of Science, Cochrane Library, and Scopus Database from January 1st, 1990, to March 20th, 2023. Titles and abstracts were screened, followed by full text review. Articles assessing clinically important outcomes between OSR and ER in penetrating arterial injuries were included. Exclusion criteria included blunt injuries, aortic injuries, pediatric populations, review articles, and non-English articles. Odds ratios (OR) and Cohen's d ratios were used to quantify differences in morbidity and mortality. RESULTS A total of 3770 articles were identified, of which 8 met inclusion criteria and were included in the review. The articles comprised a total of 8369 patients of whom 90 % were male with a median age of 28 years. 85 % of patients were treated with OSR while 15 % underwent ER. With regards to injury characteristics, those who underwent ER were less likely to present with concurrent venous injuries (OR: 0.41; 95 %CI: 0.18, 0.94; p = 0.03). Regarding hospital outcomes, patients who underwent ER had a lower likelihood of in-hospital or 30-day mortality (OR: 0.72; 95 %CI: 0.55, 0.95; p = 0.02) and compartment syndrome (OR: 0.29, 95 %CI: 0.12, 0.71; p = 0.007). The overall risk of bias was moderate. CONCLUSION Endovascular repair of non-aortic penetrating arterial injuries is increasingly common, however open repair remains the most common approach. Compared to ER, OSR was associated with higher odds of compartment syndrome and mortality. Further prospective research is warranted to determine the patient populations and injury patterns that most significantly benefit from an endovascular approach. Abstract
BACKGROUND AND IMPORTANCE Extracranial carotid artery pseudoaneurysm is a rare entity with potential etiologies including infection, blunt trauma, postsurgical atherosclerotic disease, and invasive neoplasia. Although the natural history of carotid pseudoaneurysm is difficult to determine because of its rarity, complications such as stroke, rupture, and local mass effect may occur at staggering rates. CLINICAL PRESENTATION In this case, a middle-aged man presented with a tandem carotid, middle cerebral artery occlusion that was treated with a carotid stent and mechanical thrombectomy. He returned 3 weeks later with a ruptured carotid pseudoaneurysm that was then treated with a covered stent. He made a full recovery and was neurologically intact on follow-up. CONCLUSION This case illustrates a rare potential complication of carotid occlusion and stenting with possible catastrophic consequences. The goal of this report was to educate other clinicians in remaining vigilant in awareness of this complication and provide a framework for potential treatment if and when it occurs.

Abstract
A 20-year-old male was admitted with the history of a traumatic head injury after traffic accident. The physical examination revealed blurred vision, swelling of the right face, and minor epistaxis. CT and MRI findings revealed a giant pseudoaneurysm of cavernous carotid artery. The patient was enrolled endovascular coils embolization of the internal carotid artery. After the procedure, the patient recovered well. Endovascular treatment is an effective therapy in cavernous carotid pseudoaneurysm.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To assess the efficacy and safety of carotid artery stenting for the treatment of extracranial carotid artery dissection (CAD). DATA SOURCES Systematic review using Medline, Scopus, EMBASE and Cochrane Library. REVIEW METHODS A systematic search was performed according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-analysis (PRISMA) statement. Data from the eligible studies were extracted and meta-analyzed. Primary endpoints included postoperative mortality, cerebrovascular events (CE) and modified Rankin Score for neurologic disability (mRS) at 90 days. We performed subgroup analyses between stenting of spontaneous and traumatic CAD, primary stenting versus stenting after failed medical therapy (FMT) and stenting of CAD in the presence of tandem occlusions versus stenting of isolated extracranial CAD. RESULTS Twenty-four studies with 1,224 patients were included. Pooled post-operative mortality, CE and mRS 0-2 rates were 1.71% (95%CI:0.83-2.80), 6.45% (95%CI:2.80-11.10) and 76.13% (95%CI:64.15-86.50), respectively. The pooled stroke rate was 2.16% (95%CI:0.0-6.64). Spontaneous versus traumatic CAD mortality rates were 3.20% (95%CI:1.80-4.88) and 0.00% (95%CI:0.00-1.59) while CE rates were 14.26% (95%CI:6.28-24.36) and 1.64% (95%CI:0.0-6.08). Primary stenting and stenting after FMT mortality rates were 0.63% (95%CI:0.0-5.63) and 0.0% (95%CI:0.0-2.24), while CE rates were 5.02% (95%CI:0.38-12.63) and 3.33% (95%CI:0.12-9.03). Mortality rates for tandem occlusions and isolated extracranial CAD were 5.62% (95%CI:1.76-10.83) and 0.23% (95%CI:0.0-1.88) respectively, while CE rates were 15.28% (95%CI:6.23-26.64) and 1.88% (95%CI:0.23-4.51). The methodological index for non-randomized studies (MINORS) score was 8.66 (low). CONCLUSION Both primary stenting and stenting of spontaneous CAD yielded unfavorable results regarding stent thrombosis and stroke rates. Conversely, stenting following FMT displayed acceptable mortality and complication rates corroborating the use of stenting in the setting of CAD as a second line treatment. Due to the low quality of the included studies, definite conclusions cannot be drawn necessitating further research.

The low-profile visualized intraluminal support (LVIS) device is a braided stent with a metal coverage rate between traditional laser cut stents and flow diversion devices. We report here our therapy strategy using the LVIS stent-assisted coiling for treatment of traumatic intracranial ICA pseudoaneurysms. Patients with traumatic intracranial ICA pseudoaneurysms treated by the LVIS stent-assisted coiling in our center between January 2015 and June 2021 were reviewed. The complications, radiographic, and clinical outcomes of these patients were analyzed. A total of 12 patients with 12 pseudoaneurysms were included. The mean maximum aneurysm diameter was 6.2 ± 3.1 mm. Nine patients had a subarachnoid hemorrhage; five patients with Hunt-Hess grade III and four patients with grade IV. All procedures were successfully performed without intraoperative complications. Immediate postoperative angiogram showed that six (50%) aneurysms were Raymond grade 1, four (33.3%) were grade 2, and two (16.7%) were grade 3. Postoperative multiple cerebral infarction occurred in two patients because of vasospasm. Of the ten patients with angiographic follow-up (mean, 29.9 months), two received additional coiling because of recanalization of the pseudoaneurysm, and all aneurysms were completely obliterated at the last examination of the patients. During the clinical follow-up period (mean, 26.8 months), the overall mortality and morbidity were 25% (3/12) and 8.3% (1/12), respectively. LVIS stent-assisted coiling was a feasible approach for the treatment of traumatic ICA pseudoaneurysms.

Abstract
Concurrent epistaxis, embolic stroke and a ruptured internal carotid artery are rare but life-threatening delayed complications of cured nasopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma. A timely diagnosis and effective management can be problematic. We report a case that highlights the unique diagnostic features of this presentation and contemporary endovascular treatment options available.

Abstract
Vascular injuries that occur during traffic accidents are a commonly neglected aspect that can add more detail to the framework of a case. In this study, we analysed a case series of 150 traffic accidents, 39 of which were marked by microscopically identifiable vascular lesions. The purpose was to identify the presence of carotid injuries in individuals who died due to traffic accidents and had nonpenetrating trauma of the neck. We focused on the discrepancies regarding the macroscopical aspect and the histology and demonstrated how histological analysis of the carotids in cases of trauma can reveal injuries that are attributable to the trauma itself. We conducted a histological analysis of the lesions to describe their distribution and type and investigate potential correlations. The study offers insight on how to examine road accidents that involve traumatic injury of the carotid arteries. Indeed the main task of the forensic pathologist in the case of death is to establish the existence of a causal relationship between the micro- or macroscopic alterations observed in the autopsy and the traumatic event that led to the death of the subject. Thus, further morphological elements were provided to the forensic practitioners that may reveal injuries attributable to the trauma itself and should be evaluated in cases of trauma in traffic accidents.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Patients can be at risk of carotid artery dissection and ischemic stroke after cervical chiropractic manipulation. However, such risks are rarely reported and raising awareness can increase the safety of chiropractic manipulations. CASE REPORT We present two middle-aged patients with carotid artery dissection leading to ischemic stroke after receiving chiropractic manipulation in Foshan, Guangdong Province, China. Both patients had new-onset pain in their necks after receiving chiropractic manipulations. Excess physical force during chiropractic manipulation may present a risk to patients. Patient was administered with recombinant tissue plasminogen activator after radiological diagnoses. They were prescribed 100 mg and clopidogrel 75 mg daily for 3 months as dual antiplatelet therapy. There were no complications over the follow-up period. CONCLUSION These cases suggest that dissection of the carotid artery can occur as the result of chiropractic manipulations. Patients should be diagnosed and treated early to achieve positive outcomes. The safety of chiropractic manipulations should be increased by raising awareness about the potential risks.

Abstract
Background and Purpose: As a rare lesion secondary to brain trauma, traumatic intracranial aneurysms (TICAs) lead to high mortality and morbidity, and multiple treatment modalities have been applied for TICAs. All patients diagnosed with TICAs in our institution from 2010 to 2020 were included in the report, and their clinical features, treatment, and outcomes are described in detail. The purpose of this study is to illustrate the characteristic of different therapeutic methods of TICAs, and focus on the endovascular treatment. Methods: A total of 20 patients were included in this study. The 3 patients who declined treatment all died. Five of the other 17 patients were treated surgically, including clipping, wrapping, and trapping with or without EC-IC high-flow bypass, with only 1 case of parent artery preservation. Twelve patients underwent endovascular treatment, including bare coil embolization (1 case), stent-assisted coiling (2 cases), balloon-assisted coils/Onyx glue embolization (1 case) and covered stents (8 cases), with only 1 case of parent artery sacrifice. Results: 20 patients were included in the present study with 17 males, and the mean of age on 27 years (IQR: 22, 44 years). Eight patients presented with epistaxis, followed by 5 patients with coma, 3 patients with visual defects and 2 patients with CSF leakage. There were 18 TICAs located at the internal carotid artery (ICA); The other 2 TICAs located at pericallosal artery and A1 segment anterior cerebral artery (ACA). One case of diplopia occurred due to sacrifice of the ICA. Occlusion of the ophthalmic artery occurred in 3 patients after placement of a covered stent, with 1 patient suffering an irreversible vision decrease. None of the other patients who underwent the treatment have experienced an aggravation of their symptoms since the treatment; During the imaging follow-up, 1 case of recurrence and 1 case of endoleak occurred in this case series. Conclusions: TICAs are associated with significant morbidity and mortality, and endovascular treatment has emerged as a valuable option, which may be promising to improve the clinical outcomes due to their advantages of preserving the parent artery if occlusion of the side branch artery can be avoided.

Abstract
Objective To investigate the efficacy and safety of endovascular double-layer bare stent placement for the treatment of traumatic false aneurysm (TFA). Methods This is a retrospective review of five patients with TFA undergone double-layer bare stent placement in our center between February 2011 and August 2020. There are 2 males and 3 females aged 29-65 years, with an average age of 43 years. One case suffered from common carotid artery pseudoaneurysm, and four cases suffered superficial femoral artery pseudoaneurysm. Results The endovascular interventional treatment was successful in all 5 patients, and the pseudoaneurysms disappeared after treatment. No TFA recurrence and no complications such as instent stenosis, stent migration, stent fracture, endoleak, and infection were observed during the 3-99-month follow-up period. Conclusion For the treatment of TFA, endovascular interventional therapy with double-layer bare stent was minimally invasive, safe, and effective with fewer complications. It could preserve all branches of parent artery and had the advantage of lower cost. It can be used in the treatment of TFA in selected cases. However, further clinical researches with larger cohorts are needed before its long-term efficacy can be completely clarified.

Abstract
This report aims to present a rare case of a common carotid artery (CCA) pseudoaneurysm with a concomitant internal carotid artery (ICA) stenosis that were treated with a hybrid technique. This strategy included the retrograde placement of a CCA covered stent under ICA clamping followed by standardized carotid endarterectomy. The technique will be discussed and compared with other possible treatments.

Abstract
The extracranial internal carotid artery (ICA) refers to the anatomic location that reaches from the common carotid artery proximally to the skull base distally. The extracranial ICA belongs to the C1 segment of the Bouthillier classification and is at considerable risk for injury. Currently, the understanding of endovascular treatment (EVT) for blunt injury of the extracranial ICA is limited, and a comprehensive review is therefore important. In this review, we found that extracranial ICA blunt injury should be identified in patients presenting after blunt trauma, including classical dissection, pseudoaneurysm, and stenosis/occlusion. Computed tomography angiography (CTA) is the first-line method for screening for extracranial ICA blunt injury, although digital subtraction angiography (DSA) remains the "gold standard" in imaging. Antithrombotic treatment is effective for stroke prevention. However, routine EVT in the form of stenting should be reserved for patients with prolonged neurological symptoms from arterial stenosis or considerably enlarged pseudoaneurysm. Endovascular repair is now emerging as a favored therapeutic option given its demonstrated safety and positive clinical and radiographic outcomes.

Abstract
Objective Covered stenting is an optional strategy for traumatic carotid pseudoaneurysm, especially in malignant conditions of potential rupture, but the long-term outcomes are not clear. Our aim was to determine if covered stenting is an effective option for traumatic carotid pseudoaneurysm with promising long-term outcomes.
Methods Self-expanding Viabahn and balloon-expandable Willis covered stents were separately implanted for extra- and intracranial traumatic carotid pseudoaneurysm. The covered stent was placed across the distal and proximal pseudoaneurysm leakage under roadmap guidance. Procedural success was defined as technical success (complete exclusion of the pseudoaneurysm and patency of the parent artery) without a primary end point (any stroke or death within 30 days after the procedure). Long-term outcomes were evaluated as ischemic stroke in the territory of the qualifying artery by clinical follow-up through outpatient or telephone consultation and as the exclusion of the pseudoaneurysm and patency of the parent artery by imaging follow-up through angiography.
Results Five patients with traumatic carotid pseudoaneurysm who underwent covered stenting were enrolled. The procedural success rate was 100%. No ischemic stroke in the territory of the qualifying artery was recorded in any of the five patients during a mean clinical follow-up of 44±16 months. Complete exclusion of the pseudoaneurysm and patency of the parent artery were maintained in all five patients during a mean imaging follow-up of 39±16 months.
Conclusion Satisfactory procedural and long-term outcomes were obtained, suggesting that covered stenting is an effective option for traumatic carotid pseudoaneurysm.

Abstract
BACKGROUND
There is a paucity of literature regarding treatment options for extracranial pseudoaneurysms of the internal carotid artery (ICA). To date, Pipeline Embolization Device (PED; Medtronic Inc) use for the treatment of extracranial pseudoaneurysms of the ICA has only been reported from single-center case series.
OBJECTIVE
To evaluate the safety and efficacy of PED for the treatment of extracranial ICA pseudoaneurysms.
METHODS
This is a multicenter retrospective study involving 6 high-volume tertiary academic institutions in the United States. We analyzed patients with extracranial ICA pseudoaneurysms treated with PED between January 1, 2011, and January 1, 2019. Clinical assessment was performed pre- and postintervention using the modified Rankin Scale (mRS) and National Institution of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) at a minimum of 4-mo follow-up.
RESULTS
A total of 28 pseudoaneurysms with a mean diameter of 17.7 mm (range: 4.1-52.5 mm) were treated with PED in 24 patients at 6 participating centers. The mean age was 52.1 yr (17-73) ± 14.3 with 14 females and 10 males. At a mean of 21-mo (range 4-66 mo) follow-up, complete occlusion was achieved in 89% (n = 25/28), with near-complete occlusion (>90% occlusion) in the remainder. There were no periprocedural complications. Postprocedure NIHSS was 0 in 88% (n = 21/24) and 1 in 12% (n = 3/24) of patients, and mRS was 0 in 83% (n = 20/24) and 1 in 17% (n = 4/24) of patients.
CONCLUSION
The treatment of extracranial ICA pseudoaneurysms with PED is safe and effective in selected patients. Randomized controlled trials and prospective cohort studies are needed to establish the role of flow diversion for ICA pseudoaneurysms.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Isolated dissections of the celiac artery (CA) after blunt trauma are rarely described. This retrospective analysis and systematic review analyzes epidemiology, radiologic examinations, patterns of injuries, therapeutic measures, clinical courses, and outcomes. METHODS Retrospective analysis of polytraumatized patients admitted between 1997 and 2012 to a trauma center level I. Systematic literature search was carried out on pubmed.gov, eurorad.org, and google.com. RESULTS Isolated traumatic dissections of the CA had an incidence of 0.17% in a retrospective collective (n = 9). Mean age was 31.7 years in 6 male (66.7%) and 3 female (33.3%) patients. Systematic literature search identified 12 primary sources describing 13 males (100%) with a mean age of 41.3 years. Traffic accidents and falls were the most common causes of injury. An intimal flap (77.7%) and a thrombosed false lumen (59.1%) were the most common computed tomographic findings. Twenty-two patients were analyzed, and 16 patients were treated conservatively. The CA was bypassed in 2 symptomatic patients. One patient was treated with a stent. Two patients died because of massive bleeding, and 1 patient died because of liver failure. About 19 discharged patients were asymptomatic on follow-up. Long-term follow-up with magnetic resonance angiography showed stable dissections (n = 1), medium stenosis (n = 1), resolution of the dissection (n = 2), high-grade stenosis of the CA combined with a small pseudoaneurysm (n = 1), or occlusion of the CA with sufficient collateralization (n = 3). Pharmaceutical treatment was individualized with low-molecular-weight heparin, heparin, or warfarin, and acetylicsalicylic acid. CONCLUSIONS Traumatic CA dissections are mostly caused by traffic accidents and falls. Visceral perfusion should be monitored clinically and radiologically. Beginning visceral ischemia requires early invasive treatment. Endovascular and open surgery are possible options. Benefits of specific pharmaceuticals are still up for debate. Follow-up via magnetic resonance imaging or computed tomography angiography is essential to rule out vascular complications. Abstract
Spinal cord injury is devastating to those affected due to the loss of motor and sensory function, and, in some cases, cardiovascular collapse, ventilatory failure, and bowel and bladder dysfunction. Primary trauma to the spinal cord is exacerbated by secondary insult from the inflammatory response to injury. Specialized intensive care of patients with acute spinal cord injury involves the management of multiple systems and incorporates evidence-based practices to reduce secondary injury to the spinal cord. Patients greatly benefit from early multidisciplinary rehabilitation for neurologic and functional recovery. Treatment of acute spinal cord injury may soon incorporate novel molecular agents currently undergoing clinical investigation to assist in neuroprotection and neuroregeneration.

Abstract
PURPOSE Traumatic vertebral artery injury (TVAI) can have a varied clinical presentation and appearance on imaging. In this review, we present the screening criteria, spectrum of imaging features, grading, and imaging pitfalls of TVAI. Our review focuses on the imaging of TVAI on computed tomography angiography (CTA), magnetic resonance angiography (MRA), and cases of TVAI mimics. IMAGING The imaging spectrum on CTA can range from either focal or long segment luminal stenosis (the most common findings), smooth or tapered narrowing of lumen, string of pearls appearance, concentric intramural haematoma, intimal flap (the most definite sign), and double lumen of the artery. On time-of-flight MRA, the most common findings include loss of flow void within the vessel due to slow flow, thrombosis or occlusion, and hyperintense signal within the vessel wall due to intramural haematoma on T1 fat-saturated images. CONCLUSION The reader should be aware of the screening criteria, common and uncommon findings, variant anatomy, artifacts, and mimics of TVAI when evaluating cases of craniocervical trauma, to be competent in calling in or ruling out injury.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Transseptal puncture has been widely used by cardiologists to reach the left side of the heart through a transvenous access. Rarely, it also can be used to pass into the supra-aortic arteries from the venous side when conventional transarterial access pathways (transfemoral, transradial/brachial routes, or direct carotid puncture) are likely to fail. CASE DESCRIPTION We report 2 cases of transvenous femoral access followed by transseptal access to aorta to treat dissecting carotid artery aneurysms at the level of the skull base with flow diverters. In one case, multiple cervical arterial bypass operations and in the other a rare anomaly of the aortic arch precluded endovascular treatment through conventional routes. CONCLUSIONS Transvenous-transseptal access enabled treatment of both cases easily and without complications. On follow-up computed tomography angiograms, both flow diverters were patent, there were no residual aneurysms, and no neurologic or cardiac adverse events in either patient.

Abstract
A 54-year-old Chinese woman presented with a 10-year history of repeated paroxysmal palpitations. She was diagnosed with paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia by 12-lead electrocardiogram and was advised to undergo catheter-based radiofrequency ablation. During the procedure, a rare complication occurred that was diagnosed as a right internal mammary artery penetrating injury. After appropriate emergency treatment with arterial embolization and membrane-covered stent implantation, the patient was out of immediate danger of haemorrhaging. Follow-up computed tomography angiography of the subclavian artery at 3 months after she was discharged from hospital revealed stent-graft patency with no evidence of in-stent thrombosis or stent stenosis. No problems were observed at the 6-month follow-up visit.

Abstract
Background Traumatic extracranial internal carotid artery (ICA) dissections are uncommon and can be difficult to treat. Thinning of adventitia and dilatation may occur following arterial dissection, thus resulting in a fusiform pseudoaneurysm, which can subsequently cause bleeding, expanding, or pulsatile hematoma. Currently, medical management with anticoagulation remains the first line of treatment and yields good outcomes in 75% of cases with a mortality rate of 3-4%. Endovascular intervention is indicated with failure of medical therapy, progressive enlargement of a traumatic pseudoaneurysm, acute flow-related infarcts due to vessel occlusion, or when anticoagulation is contraindicated due to risk of pseudoaneurysm rupture and hemorrhage. Recognized interventional treatments include parent artery occlusion with or without revascularization, endovascular coil embolization, and covered stenting. Summary A wide variety of endovascular stents are available that are capable of opening a stenosed vessel while obliterating the associated false lumen and providing a scaffold for embolization of the pseudoaneurysm. The use of the Pipeline Embolization Device (PED) in the management of traumatic intracranial pseudoaneurysms has been described. However, there are few reports on the usage of the PED for treating traumatic extracranial ICA dissection and/or pseudoaneurysms. However, a potential complication of the use of PED in the extracranial ICA is a hypothetical tendency to migrate in a mobile vessel. Thus, the risk of migration of the PED has encouraged practitioners to adopt strategies to limit this risk. Key Messages We describe different techniques employed to anchor the flow-diverting construct within tortuous, mobile vessels.

Abstract
According to literature data, there are no distinct guidelines regarding the proper diagnostic and therapeutic management of traumatic carotid artery dissection (TCAD). Although most of cases evaluated in research studies refer to spontaneous carotid artery dissection, traumatic cases demand special considerations as far as diagnosis and treatment are concerned. Although both types of dissection share some common characteristics, a patient with TCAD usually presents with several concomitant injuries as well as a higher bleeding risk, thus complicating decision making in such patients. Therefore, aim of this review is to present available data regarding epidemiology, clinical presentation, diagnostics and treatment strategy in cases with TCAD in order to produce useful conclusions for everyday clinical practice.
