Abstract
The title coordination polymer, [Cu(SO4)(C5H8N2)4] n , was synthesized using a one-pot reaction of copper powder, anhydrous copper(II) sulfate and 3,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrazole (Hdmpz) in aceto-nitrile under ambient conditions. The asymmetric unit can be described as a chain consisting of four [Cu(SO4)(Hdmpz)4] formula units that are connected to each other by a μ2-sulfato-bridged ligand. The octa-hedral coordination geometry (O2N4) of all copper atoms is realized by coordination of four pyrazole ligands and two sulfate ligands. Four pyridine-like N atoms of the pyrazole ligands occupy the equatorial positions, while two oxygen atoms of two sulfate ligands are in axial positions. As a result of the sulfate ligand rotation, there is a pairwise alternation of terminal O atoms (which are not involved in coordination to the copper atom) of the SO4 tetra-hedra. The Cu⋯Cu distances within one asymmetric unit are in the range 7.0842 (12)-7.1554 (12) Å. The crystal structure is built up from polymeric chains packed in a parallel manner along the b-axis direction. Hirshfeld surface analysis suggests that the most important contributions to the surface contacts are from H⋯H (74.7%), H⋯O/O⋯H (14.8%) and H⋯C/C⋯H (8.2%) inter-actions.

Abstract
Nobel metal (Au and Ag) nanoparticles are often used in semiconductor photocatalysis to enhance the photocatalytic activity, while inexpensive Cu attracts less attention due to its easy oxidization. Herein, an elaborate study was conducted using Cu-nanoparticle-dispersed amorphous BaTiO3 films as photocatalysts. Photocatalytic and photoelectrochemical measurements demonstrated that the degradation efficiency and photocurrent density of the nanocomposite films are approximately 3.5 and 10 times as high as the pristine BaTiO3 film, respectively, which can be ascribed to a synergetic effect of the surface plasmon resonance and interband excitation. In addition, a good stability was also demonstrated by cyclic tests for the degradation of rhodamine B, which may be due to the amorphous nature of the BaTiO3 matrix providing hole-trapping centers. The high photocatalytic stability suggests that Cu is a promising alternative metal to replace Au and Ag for the development of cost-effective photocatalysts. Our work demonstrates a simple and promising strategy for improving the photostability of Cu nanomaterials and may provide a useful guideline for designing Cu-based composite materials toward various photocatalytic applications such as water pollution treatment.

Abstract
This Perspective summarises the chemistry of the pyrazole ring, and reviews the metal coordination modes adopted by 1H-pyrazoles and their anions. Pyrazolide anions are probably the most versatile ligands in coordination chemistry, with 20 different terminal or bridging coordination modes having been identified so far. Metal cluster compounds supported by pyrazolido ligation are surveyed, concentrating on those reported during the past ten years. Highlights include the wide structural diversity in apparently simple main group pyrazolides; luminescence and charge-transfer complexes in coinage metal pyrazolide clusters; the use of robust metal pyrazolide clusters to construct liquid crystals, supramolecular materials and metal-organic frameworks; and supramolecular complexes formed by pyrazolide-supported metallacrowns.

Abstract
The reactions of pyrazole (Hpz) with some copper(II) carboxylates in the presence of water yield trinuclear copper derivatives characterized by the triangular core [Cu3mu3-OH)(mu-pz)3(RCOO)2] (R = H, C2H5, C3H7). Copper(II) formate gives [Cu3(mu3-OH)(mu-pz)3(HCOO)2(Hpz)2] (1), whereas copper propionate and butyrate afford [Cu3(mu3-OH)(mu-pz)3(C2H5COO)2(EtOH)] (2) and [Cu3(mu3-OH)(mu-pz)3(C3H7COO)2(MeOH)(H2O)] (3), respectively, both containing solvent molecules coordinated to copper atoms. Magnetic susceptibilities are consistent with a single unpaired electron for each trinuclear unit of 1-3, and EPR measurements indicate that higher spin states, generated by exchange coupling between copper atoms, may be populated at room temperature. Density-functional calculations provide the description of the electronic structures of 1-3, allowing, at the same time, the assignment of their UV-vis absorption spectra. X-ray molecular structure determinations show that triangular trinuclear units of 1 are connected to each other through single formate bridges, forming one-dimensional (1D) zigzag coordination polymers, whereas in 2 and 3, two oxygen atoms of two carboxylate ions doubly bridge two copper atoms of different triangles, thus generating hexanuclear units. Moreover, in 2, two other propionate ions link together two hexanuclear units yielding a 12-membered cycle and giving rise to 1D coordination polymers. The supramolecular assemblies of 1-3 are compared to that of the previously reported trinuclear triangular copper(II) derivative [Cu3(mu3-OH)(mu-pz)3(CH3COO)2(Hpz)] (A), where a two-dimensional (2D) coordination polymer is present. The reactions of 3,5-dimethylpyrazole (Hpz) with copper(II) carboxylates in the same conditions yield 1:2 Cu(RCOO)2/Hpz adducts.
