Abstract
Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) samples were collected at monthly intervals between July 2018 and June 2019 from 3 sampling sites (El-Rahawy, Sabal and Tala) situated along the Rosetta branch of the Nile, Egypt, to monitor the presence of 100 pesticides and 5 antibiotics using different extraction procedures followed by GC-MS/MS and LC-MS/MS. Potential human health risks via the consumption of contaminated fish was also assessed. Of the 72 analyzed fish muscle samples; 86% and 21% were contaminated with pesticides and antibiotics, respectively. Chlorpyrifos (ranging from < LOQ to 0.08 mg/kg) was the most frequently detected pesticide followed by p,p'-DDE (ranging from < LOQ to 0.04 mg/kg) in 83 and 45% of the fish muscle samples, respectively. Nitrofurazone (ranging from 8.6 to 52 μg/kg) was the most frequently detected antibiotic, followed by nitrofurantoin (ranging from 1.1 to 2 μg/kg) and chloramphenicol (ranging from < LOQ to 0.17 μg/kg). These antibiotics were found in 12, 6 and 5% of the fish muscle samples, respectively. The spatial distribution of the detected pesticides and antibiotics in fish samples along the Rosetta branch showed that the highest mean concentrations were found in the Sabal area, followed by samples from Tala and El-Rahawy. An investigation into seasonal variations revealed that the highest mean concentrations of pesticides and antibiotics in fish samples were detected in winter and spring, respectively. According to target hazard quotient (THQ) calculations for the detected pollutants in Nile tilapia muscle, all pollutants gave THQ values lower than 1, indicating that the consumption of this fish from the study sites is unlikely to cause any detrimental effects to consumers.

Abstract
In this study, a coordination imprinted polymer (CIP) solid-phase extraction (SPE) method was developed to determine the residues of flumequine (FLU) in fish samples. Silanized graphene oxide-doped CIP (SGO-CIP) monolithic column was prepared using FLU-Zn2+ as template in the presence of SGO. The synthesis conditions of SGO-CIP column were optimized by the response surface methodology. Under the optimum conditions, this column showed high specificity to FLU, and the adsorption capacity reached 61.74 ng mg-1. The enrichment factor of the monolithic column was over 40-fold. Various factors affecting the extraction efficiency of SGO-CIP column during SPE were tested to achieve optimal enrichment and to reduce non-specific adsorption. FLU in fish was detected by using a high-performance liquid chromatography-fluorescence detection system. The detection limit was as low as 0.32 ng g-1 and the recovery was as high as 95.2%, with relative standard deviations of below 5.9%. This simple and sensitive method may be applicable to the determination of FLU residues in foods.

Abstract
In the present study, a multi-class multi-residue method for the simultaneous detection and determination of antibiotics in European sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) was developed and validated. The method based on UHPLC-MS/MS proved to be a rapid, highly selective and sensitive tool, requiring minimum sample preparation, for screening and detection of 47 compounds from eight different classes. The validation was performed according to EU regulation 2002/657/EC, proving the method's suitability for application in routine analysis. The method was applied to the analysis of 30 samples of farmed European sea bass purchased in different supermarkets in Portugal. Antibacterial residues were detected in 6 of the 30 analysed samples, namely enrofloxacin and oxytetracycline, in concentrations ranging from 0.1 to 12 µg kg-1.

Abstract
The objective of this study was to evaluate the occurrence, distribution, potential sources, and ecological risk of antibiotics in aqueous phase of Lake Guchenghu, China. Target antibiotics in surface water of Lake Guchenghu, adjacent streams, and crab ponds were detected seasonally. The results showed that erythromycin-H2O (1.60-2450 ng/L), sulfadiazine (ND-654 ng/L), and florfenicol (ND-919 ng/L) were the predominant antibiotics in Lake Guchenghu. The concentrations of antibiotics in Lake Guchenghu Basin showed obvious seasonal variation, with the highest concentration in summer. In general, the concentrations of antibiotics in crab ponds and streams were higher than those in the lake and spatial distributions of antibiotics were affected by pollution sources. The types and origins of antibiotics indicated that wastewater from ponds was the main source of antibiotics in the lake. Risk assessment suggested that as individual compound, erythromycin-H2O and clarithromycin posed a high risk to algae while other compounds might pose low or no risk. The mixture of antibiotics may pose a high risk to aquatic organisms in Lake Guchenghu. Overall, our study revealed the occurrence and spatiotemporal variation of antibiotics in Lake Guchenghu, which was related with crab culturing.

Abstract
Antibiotics are widely used in aquaculture, however, this often results in undesirable ecological effects. To evaluate the occurrence, temporal variations, and ecological risk of antibiotics in five crab ponds of Lake Guchenghu Basin, China, 44 antibiotics from nine classes were analyzed by rapid resolution liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (RRLC-MS/MS). Twelve antibiotics belonging to six classes were detected in the aqueous phase of five crab ponds, among which sulfonamides and macrolides were the predominant classes, and six compounds (sulfamonomethoxine, sulfadiazine, trimethoprim, erythromycin-H2O, monensin, and florfenicol) were frequently detected at high concentrations. In general, the antibiotic levels varied between different crab ponds, with the average concentrations ranging from 122 to 1440 ng/L. The antibiotic concentrations in crab ponds exhibited obvious seasonal variations, with the highest concentration and detection frequency detected in summer. Multivariate analysis showed that antibiotic concentrations were significantly correlated with environmental variables, such as total organic carbon, phosphate, ammonia nitrogen, and pH. Sulfadiazine, clarithromycin, erythromycin-H2O, and ciprofloxacin posed a high risk to algae, while the mixture of antibiotics could pose a high risk to aquatic organisms in the crab ponds. Overall, the usage of antibiotics in farming ponds should be comprehensively investigated and controlled to preserve a healthy aquaculture ecosystem.

Abstract
In the present research, a combined extraction method of ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE) in conjunction with solid phase extraction (SPE) was applied to isolation and enrichment of selected drugs (metoprolol, ticlopidine, propranolol, carbamazepine, naproxen, acenocumarol, diclofenac, ibuprofen) from fish tissues. The extracted analytes were separated and determined by ultra-high performance liquid chromatography with UV detection (UHPLC-UV) technique. The selectivity of the developed UHPLC-UV method was confirmed by comparison with ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC-MS/MS) analysis. The important parameters, such as composition of type and pH of extraction solvent, solid/liquid rate volume of extraction solvent and number of extraction cycles were studied. The ultrasonic parameters, such as time, power and temperature of the process were optimized by using a half-fraction factorial central composite design (CCD). The mixture of 10 mL of methanol and 7 mL of water (pH 2.2) (three times) was chosen for the extraction of selected drug from fish tissues. The results showed that the highest recoveries of analytes were obtained with an extraction temperature of 40°C, ultrasonic power of 300 W, extraction time of 30 min. Under the optimal conditions, the linearity of method was 0.12-5.00 μg/g. The determination coefficients (R(2)) were from 0.979 to 0.998. The limits of detection (LODs) and limits of quantification (LOQs) for the extracted compounds were 0.04-0.17 μg/g and 0.12-0.50 μg/g, respectively. The recoveries were between 85.5% and 115.8%.

Abstract
Albendazole is a broad-spectrum parasiticide with high effectiveness and low host toxicity. No method is currently available for measuring albendazole and its metabolites in silkworm hemolymph. This study describes a rapid, selective, sensitive, synchronous and reliable detection method for albendazole and its metabolites in silkworm hemolymph using ultrafast liquid chromatography tandem triple quadrupole mass spectrometry (UFLC-MS/MS). The method is liquid-liquid extraction followed by UFLC separation and quantification in an MS/MS system with positive electrospray ionization in multiple reaction monitoring mode. Precursor-to-product ion transitions were monitored at 266.100 to 234.100 for albendazole (ABZ), 282.200 to 208.100 for albendazole sulfoxide (ABZSO), 298.200 to 159.100 for albendazole sulfone (ABZSO2) and 240.200 to 133.100 for albendazole amino sulfone (ABZSO2-NH2). Calibration curves had good linearities with R2 of 0.9905–0.9972. Limits of quantitation (LOQs) were 1.32 ng/mL for ABZ, 16.67 ng/mL for ABZSO, 0.76 ng/mL for ABZSO2 and 5.94 ng/mL for ABZSO2-NH2. Recoveries were 93.12%–103.83% for ABZ, 66.51%–108.51% for ABZSO, 96.85%–105.6% for ABZSO2 and 96.46%–106.14% for ABZSO2-NH2, (RSDs <8%). Accuracy, precision and stability tests showed acceptable variation in quality control (QC) samples. This analytical method successfully determined albendazole and its metabolites in silkworm hemolymph in a pharmacokinetic study. The results of single-dose treatment suggested that the concentrations of ABZ, ABZSO and ABZSO2 increased and then fell, while ABZSO2-NH2 level was low without obvious change. Different trends were observed for multi-dose treatment, with concentrations of ABZSO and ABZSO2 rising over time.

Abstract
As organisms are typically exposed to chemical mixtures over long periods of time, chronic mixture toxicity is the best way to perform an environmental risk assessment (ERA). However, it is difficult to obtain the chronic mixture toxicity data due to the high expense and the complexity of the data acquisition method. Therefore, an approach was proposed in this study to predict chronic mixture toxicity. The acute (15 min exposure) and chronic (24 h exposure) toxicity of eight antibiotics and trimethoprim to Vibrio fischeri were determined in both single and binary mixtures. The results indicated that the risk quotients (RQs) of antibiotics should be based on the chronic mixture toxicity. To predict the chronic mixture toxicity, a docking-based receptor library of antibiotics and the receptor-library-based quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR) model were developed. Application of the developed QSAR model to the ERA of antibiotic mixtures demonstrated that there was a close affinity between RQs based on the observed chronic toxicity and the corresponding RQs based on the predicted data. The average coefficients of variations were 46.26 and 34.93 % and the determination coefficients (R (2)) were 0.999 and 0.998 for the low concentration group and the high concentration group, respectively. This result convinced us that the receptor library would be a promising tool for predicting the chronic mixture toxicity of antibiotics and that it can be further applied in ERA.

Abstract
RATIONALE Veterinary drug residue analysis of meat and seafood products is an important part of national regulatory agency food safety programs to ensure that consumers are not exposed to potentially dangerous substances. Complex tissue matrices often require lengthy extraction and analysis procedures to identify improper animal drug treatment. Direct and rapid analysis mass spectrometry techniques have the potential to increase regulatory sample analysis speed by eliminating liquid chromatographic separation. METHODS Flumequine, oxolinic acid, and nalidixic acid were extracted from catfish, shrimp, and salmon using acidified acetonitrile. Extracts were concentrated, dried onto metal sample wells, then rapidly desorbed (6 s) with an infrared diode laser for analysis by laser diode thermal desorption atmospheric pressure chemical ionization with tandem mass spectrometry (LDTD-MS/MS). Analysis was conducted in selected reaction monitoring mode using piromidic acid as internal standard. RESULTS Six-point calibration curves for each compound in extracted matrix were linear with r(2) correlation greater than 0.99. The method was validated by analyzing 23 negative samples and 116 fortified samples at concentrations of 10, 20, 50, 100, and 600 ng/g. Average recoveries of fortified samples were greater than 77% with method detection levels ranging from 2 to 7 /g. Three product ion transitions were acquired per analyte to identify each residue. CONCLUSIONS A rapid method for quinolone analysis in fish muscle was developed using LDTD-MS/MS. The total analysis time was less than 30 s per sample; quinolone residues were detected below 10 ng/g and in most cases residue identity was confirmed. Abstract
A simple, selective and fast multiresidue method was developed for the determination of 32 veterinary drug residues belonging to several families, in gilthead sea bream (Sparus aurata) by ultra high performance liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC-MS/MS). The extraction was based on modified QuEChERS (quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged and safe) procedure, using as extraction solution a mixture of acetonitrile and methanol (75:25, v/v), and it reduces sample handling, increasing sample throughput in relation to current methodologies. The developed method was validated and mean recovery ranged from 69% to 125% (at 10, 25, 50 and 100 μg/kg). Intra and interday precision, estimated as the same levels and expressed as relative standard deviation, RSD, were lower than 20% and 30%, respectively. Limits of detection (LODs) and quantification (LOQs) were lower than 7.5 and 25 μg/kg, respectively, except for danofloxacin, oxytetracycline and tetracycline (LOD and LOQ of 15.0 and 50 μg/kg, respectively). Decision limit (CC(α)) and detection capability (CC(β)) were also calculated and ranged from 16.7 μg/kg (levamisole) to 605.0 (flumequine) μg/kg and from 23.5 μg/kg (levamisole) to 611.5 μg/kg (flumequine), respectively. The expanded uncertainty, U, was also evaluated ant it was below 25% at 100 μg/kg level, except for tetracycline (28%). Finally, the method was applied to ten samples obtained from local supermarkets in Almería (Spain) and traces of some compounds were detected.

Abstract
A multiclass method has been optimized and validated for the simultaneous determination of 20 veterinary drug residues belonging to several classes, as quinolones, sulfonamides, macrolides, anthelmintics, avermectins and diamino derivatives, and benzathine, used as a marker of the presence of penicillin, in muscle chicken. It has been based on QuEChERS methodology (quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged and safe) and ultra high performance liquid chromatography coupled to triple quadrupole tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC-MS/MS). Several chromatographic conditions were optimized, obtaining a running time <8.5 min. The developed method was validated on the basis of international guidelines. Mean recoveries ranged from 70 to 120%, except for benzathine (65.6% at 20 μg kg(-1)) and sulfadimidine (69.0% at 100 μg kg(-1)). Repeatability was lower than 20.0% except for sulfachlorpyridazine (22.1% at 20 μg kg(-1)) and tylosin (20.5% and 20.6% at 30 and 50 μg kg(-1), respectively), whereas reproducibility was lower than 25% except for flumequine (27.4% at 20 μg kg(-1)) and benzathine (37.8% and 27% at 20 and 50 μg kg(-1), respectively). Limits of detection (LODs) and quantification (LOQs) ranged from 3.0 to 6.0 μg kg(-1) and 10.0 to 20.0 μg kg(-1), respectively, except for tylosin that showed a LOD and LOQ of 9.0 and 30.0 μg kg(-1). Decision limit (CC(α)) and detection capability (CC(β)) were calculated and CC(β) ranged from 24.1 μg kg(-1) (mebendazole) to 423.6 μg kg(-1) (flumequine). Finally, the method was applied to real samples and traces of some compounds were found in eight samples of chicken and benzathine was detected in one sample at 29.9 μg kg(-1).

Abstract
An efficient method is provided to detect simultaneously some important veterinary drugs from different classes in highly complex animal tissue matrix. This method using matrix solid-phase dispersion (MSPD) and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with diode array detection (DAD) is developed to effectively determine two fluoroquinolones (enoxacin and lomefloxacin), two sulfonamides (sulfanilamide and sulfamethoxazole) and one tetracycline (tetracycline) simultaneously in porcine tissues. In the process, MSPD methodology was used to treat samples, washed by n-hexane to remove lipid, eluted the analytes with acetonitrile–dichloromethane (1:1, v/v). Solvent acetonitrile and solvent acetic acid (0.1%) were combined in a gradient. HPLC–DAD analysis of the tissue samples was performed within 15 min at a flow rate of 1.0 mL/min. The results showed that a recovery at 0.1, 0.5 and 1.0 μg/g fortification levels ranged from 80.6% to 99.2% with satisfactory relative standard deviations (RSDs) (below 6.1%, n=3) and the limits of quantitation (LOQ) ranged from 7 μg/kg to 34 μg/kg in porcine tissues. Utilization of the method in successfully simultaneous analysis of porcine tissue incurred with veterinary drug multiresidues is described.

Abstract
This study was conducted to evaluate the depletion of residues of the antibiotics flumequine, oxytetracycline, sulfadiazine, trimethoprim, and oxolinic acid after in-feed administration to gilthead seabream. Fish were treated with the target antibiotics at doses of 30 mg/kg of body weight per day for 10 days at two seawater temperatures. Fish in each of five tanks were fed with a different medicated feed. After in-feed administration, five fish were randomly selected at different times, and antibiotic presence was analyzed in a mixture of muscle and skin. Antibiotic concentrations were determined through a validated analytical method based on liquid chromatography separation and mass spectrometry detection. Two trials were carried out with fish at different temperatures (14.0 and 19.5°C). Depletion of antibiotics occurred more rapidly at the higher temperature. Elimination rates for all antibiotics assayed were high, which indicates that the withdrawal period for these antibiotics could be reduced. The results suggest that in gilthead seabream maintained at these two temperatures no detectable concentrations of the antibiotics used in this study will remain in edible tissues 35 days after treatment. For flumequine and oxolinic acid, the elimination time is shorter (4 and 20 days, respectively).

Abstract
This study compared four extraction methods for the simultaneous determination of tetracyclines, macrolides, quinolones, sulphonamides and anthelmintics (including benzimidazoles and avermectins) in eggs by ultra-high pressure liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC-MS/MS). Solvent extraction, solid-phase extraction (SPE), matrix solid-phase dispersion (MSPD) and modified QuEChERS procedure were compared in terms of recovery and number of veterinary drugs extracted. The solvent extraction procedure with a clean-up step provided better results than the other tested procedures. The QuEChERS procedure was simpler and faster, but extracted fewer compounds than solvent extraction. MSPD did not extract tetracyclines and quinolones, whereas macrolides and tetracyclines were not extracted when SPE was applied. The solvent extraction procedure was validated, obtaining recoveries ranging from 60% (sulfaquinoxaline) to 119% (levamisole) with repeatability values (expressed as relative standard deviations, RSDs) lower than 20% at two concentration levels (10 and 100 microg kg(-1)), except for erythromycin, emamectin and ivermectin that showed RSD values close to 25% at 10 microg kg(-1). Limits of quantification (LOQs) were always equal or lower than 5 microg kg(-1). Finally the method was applied to egg samples, and erythromycin, enrofloxacin, difloxacin, thiabendazole, emamectin and fenbendazole were detected in four samples.
