Abstract
In this study, a facile approach for simultaneous determination of dopamine (DA) and tryptophan (TRP) using a 3D goethite-spongin-modified carbon paste electrode is reported. The prepared electrode exhibited excellent electrochemical catalytic activity towards DA and TRP oxidation. The electrochemical sensing of the modified electrode was investigated using cyclic voltammetry, differential pulse voltammetry, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Through differential pulse voltammetry analysis, two well-separated oxidation peaks were observed at 28 and 77 mV, corresponding to the oxidation of DA and TRP at the working electrode, with a large peak separation of up to 490 mV. DA and TRP were determined both individually and simultaneously in their dualistic mixture. As a result, the anodic peak currents and the concentrations of DA and TRP were found to exhibit linearity within the ranges of 4-246 μM for DA and 2 to 150 μM for TRP. The detection limits (S/N = 3) as low as 1.9 μM and 0.37 μM were achieved for DA and TRP, respectively. The proposed sensor was successfully applied to the simultaneous determination of DA and TRP in human urine samples with satisfactory recoveries (101% to 116%).

Abstract
The main objective of this research work is to develop a low-cost sensor to detect l-tryptophan (L-tryp) in real sample medium based on a modified glassy carbon electrode. For this, copper oxide nanoflowers (CuONFs) and poly-l-glutamic acid (PGA) were used to modify GCE. The prepared NFs and PGA coated electrode was characterized using field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM) with energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) and attenuated total reflectance Fourier transform infrared (ATR-FTIR) spectroscopy. Furthermore, the electrochemical activity was performed by cyclic voltammetry (CV), differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The modified electrode showed excellent electro-catalytic activity towards L-tryp detection in PBS solution at neutral pH 7.0. Based on the physiological pH condition, the proposed electrochemical sensor can detect L-tryp concentration with a linear range of 1.0 × 10-4-8.0 × 10-8 molL-1 with having a detection limit of 5.0 × 10-8 molL-1 and sensitivity of 0.6μA/μMcm2. The selectivity of L-tryp was tested with a mixture of salt and uric acid solution at the above conditions. Finally, this strategy demonstrated excellent recovery value in real sample analysis like milk and urine.

Abstract
The rapid growth of research in electrochemistry in the last decade has resulted in a significant advancement in exploiting electrochemical strategies for assessing biological substances. Among these, amino acids are of utmost interest due to their key role in human health. Indeed, an unbalanced amino acid level is the origin of several metabolic and genetic diseases, which has led to a great need for effective and reliable evaluation methods. This review is an effort to summarize and present both challenges and achievements in electrochemical amino acid sensing from the last decade (from 2010 onwards) to show where limitations and advantages stem from. In this review, we place special emphasis on five well-known electroactive amino acids, namely cysteine, tyrosine, tryptophan, methionine and histidine. The recent research and achievements in this area and significant performance metrics of the proposed electrochemical sensors, including the limit of detection, sensitivity, stability, linear dynamic range(s) and applicability in real sample analysis, are summarized and presented in separate sections. More than 400 recent scientific studies were included in this review to portray a rich set of ideas and exemplify the capabilities of the electrochemical strategies to detect these essential biomolecules at trace and even ultra-trace levels. Finally, we discuss, in the last section, the remaining issues and the opportunities to push the boundaries of our knowledge in amino acid electrochemistry even further.

Abstract
To develop an electrochemical sensor for electroactive molecules, the choice and prediction of redox reactive sites of the modifier play a critical role in establishing the sensing mediating mechanism. Therefore, to understand the mediating mechanism of the modifier, we used advanced density functional theory (DFT)-based quantum chemical modeling. A carbon paste electrode (CPE) was modified with electropolymerization of brilliant blue, later employed for the detection of paracetamol (PA) and folic acid (FA). PA is an analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic prescription commonly used in medical fields, and overdose or prolonged use may harm the liver and kidney. The deficiency of FA associated with neural tube defects (NTDs) and therefore the quantification of FA are very essential to prevent the problems associated with congenital deformities of the spinal column, skull and brain of the fetus in pregnant women. Hence, an electrochemical sensor based on a polymerized brilliant blue-modified carbon paste working electrode (BRB/CPE) was fabricated for the quantification of PA and FA in physiological pH. The real analytical applicability of the proposed sensor was judged by employing it in analysis of a pharmaceutical sample, and good recovery results were obtained. The potential excipients do not have a significant contribution to the electro-oxidation of PA at BRB/CPE, which makes it a promising electrochemical sensing platform. The real analytical applicability of the proposed method is valid for pharmaceutical analysis in the presence of possible excipients. The prediction of redox reactive sites of the modifier by advanced quantum chemical modeling-based DFT may lay a new foundation for researchers to establish the modifier–analyte interaction mechanisms.

Abstract
In this paper, a tryptophan (Trp) molecularly imprinted chitosan film was prepared on the surface of an acetylene black paste electrode using chitosan as the functional polymer, Trp as the template molecule and sulfuric acid as the crosslinking agent. The surface morphologies of non-imprinted and imprinted electrodes were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The formation of hydrogen bonds between the functional polymer and the template molecule was confirmed by infrared spectroscopy. Some factors affecting the performance of the imprinted electrode such as the concentration of chitosan, the mass ratio of chitosan to Trp, the dropping amount of the chitosan-Trp mixture, the solution pH, and the accumulation potential and time were discussed. The experimental results show that the imprinted electrode exhibit good affinity and selectivity for Trp. The dynamic linear ranges of 0.01–4 μM, 4–20 μM and 20–100 μM were obtained by second derivative linear sweep voltammetry, and the detection limit was calculated to be 8.0 nM. The use of the imprinted electrode provides an effective method for eliminating the interference of potentially interfering substances. In addition, the sensor has high sensitivity, reproducibility and stability, and can be used for the determination of Trp in pharmaceutical preparations and human serum samples.

Abstract
Treatment of healthcare associated Pneumonia (HCAP) caused by Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) requires therapeutic protocols formed of linezolid (LIN) either alone or in combination with meropenem (MERO) and theophylline (THEO). The inter-individual pharmacokinetic variations require the development of reliable therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) tools especially in immunocompromised patients. A sensitive square wave voltammetric sensor using multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) modified carbon paste electrode in Britton-Robinson buffer was developed and validated. Experimental parameters such as pH, percentage of MWCNTs, and pre-concentration time were optimized. The sensor was employed at pH 11.0 for the determination of LIN in plasma within a concentration range of 2.5 × 10-8 - 8.0 × 10-6 mol L-1without interference from co-administered medications. On the other hand, simultaneous monitoring of LIN, MERO and THEO in plasma was feasible at pH 3.0 over concentration ranges of 4.0 × 10-7- 9.0 × 10-5, 8.0 × 10-7- 9.0 × 10-5 and 8.0 × 10-7 - 9.0 × 10-5 mol L-1, respectively. The performance of the proposed sensor was validated and the applicability for TDM has been demonstrated in plasma of healthy volunteers.

Abstract
In the present study, the fabrication of a new modified electrode for electrocatalytic oxidation of noradrenalin, based on the delphinidin immobilized on silver nanoparticles modified glassy carbon electrode. Cyclic voltammetry was used to investigate the redox properties of this modified electrode. The surface charge transfer rate constant (ks) and the charge transfer coefficient (α) for the electron transfer between the glassy carbon electrode and the immobilized delphinidin were calculated. The differential pulse voltammetry exhibited two linear dynamic ranges and a detection limit of 0.40μM for noradrenalin determination. Moreover, the present electrode could separate the oxidation peak potentials of ascorbic acid, noradrenalin, uric acid, and tryptophan in a mixture. The usefulness of this nanosensor was also investigated for the determination of ascorbic acid, noradrenalin, and uric acid in pharmaceutical and biological fluid samples with satisfactory results.

Abstract
This paper presents a novel and versatile method for the fabrication of half nanotubes (HNTs) using a flexible template-based nanofabrication method denoted as electrochemical imprinting. With use of this method, polycrystalline nickel and nickel(II) oxide (Ni-NiO) HNTs were synthesized using pulsed electrodeposition to transfer Ni, deposited by radio frequency magnetron sputtering on a porous polytetrafluoroethylene template, onto a boron-doped diamond (BDD) film. The Ni-NiO HNTs exhibited semicircular profiles along their entire lengths, with outer diameters of 50-120 nm and inner diameters of 20-50 nm. The HNT walls were formed of Ni and NiO nanoparticles. A biosensor for the detection of L-serine was fabricated using a BDD electrode modified with Ni-NiO HNTs, and the device demonstrated satisfactory analytical performance with high sensitivity (0.33 μA μM(-1)) and a low limit of detection (0.1 μM). The biosensor also exhibited very good reproducibility and stability, as well as a high anti-interference ability against amino acids such as L-leucine, L-tryptophan, L-cysteine, L-phenylalanine, L-arginine, and L-lysine.
