Abstract
The development of an advanced dye adsorbent that possesses a range of beneficial characteristics, such as high adsorption capacity, swift adsorption kinetics, selective adsorption capability, and robust reusability, remains a challenge. This study introduces a facile method for fabricating an amine-rich porous adsorbent (ARPA), which is specifically engineered for the adsorptive removal of anionic dyes from aqueous solutions. Through a comprehensive assessment, we have evaluated the adsorption performance of ARPA using two benchmark dyes: amaranth (ART) and tartrazine (TTZ). Our findings indicate that the adsorption process reaches equilibrium in a remarkably short timeframe of just 20 min, and it exhibits an excellent correlation with both the Langmuir isotherm model and the pseudo-second-order kinetic model. Furthermore, ARPA has demonstrated an exceptional maximum adsorption capacity, with values of 675.68 mg g-1 for ART and 534.76 mg g-1 for TTZ. In addition to its high adsorption capacity, ARPA has also shown remarkable selectivity, as evidenced by its ability to selectively adsorb TTZ from a mixed dye solution, a feature that is highly desirable for practical applications. Beyond its impressive adsorption capabilities, ARPA can be efficiently regenerated and recycled. It maintains a high level of original removal efficiency for both ART (76.8%) and TTZ (78.9%) even after five consecutive cycles of adsorption and desorption. Considering the simplicity of its synthesis and its outstanding adsorption performance, ARPA emerges as a highly promising material for use in dye removal applications. Consequently, this paper presents a straightforward and feasible method for the production of an effective dye adsorbent for environmental remediation.

Abstract
Controlling the supramolecular chirality of a self-assembly system by molecular structure design and external stimuli in aqueous solution is significant but challenging. Here, we design and synthesize several glutamide-azobenzene-based amphiphiles with different length alkyl chains. The amphiphiles can form self-assemblies in aqueous solution and show CD signals. As the number of the alkyl chain of amphiphiles increases, the CD signals of the assemblies can be enhanced. However, the long alkyl chains conversely restrict the isomerization of the azobenzene and the corresponding chiroptical property. Moreover, the alkyl length can determine the nanostructure of the assemblies and exert critical influence on the dye adsorption efficiency. This work exhibits some insights into the tunable chiroptical property of the self-assembly by delicate molecular design and external stimuli, and emphasizes the molecular structure can determine the corresponding application.

Abstract
The discharge of dye effluents from the textile industries has become a major environmental issue due to its potential to impart serious harm to human health and aquatic life. Mesoporous silica due to its high chemical stability, large surface area, tunable morphologies, large pore volume and pore size and cost-effectiveness is commonly used to remove such dyes before recycling of the wastewater for agricultural, domestic, and industrial applications. However, the low colloidal stability, the fast aggregation of the silica particles and the slow etching of the silica surface often results in the fast deactivation of the adsorbents and limits their long-term applications. In this study, we report the functionalization of mesoporous silica (SBA-15) with ZnO nanoparticles for the effective removal of anionic dyes. The Zn-silica exhibited highly positive surface with a dipole moment of 172 Debye and high charge transfer efficacy with an energy bandgap (ΔE) of 3.35 eV as revealed by quantum chemical DFT simulations. It achieved excellent removal of Alizarin red dye reaching a removal efficiency of 99.99 % and an adsorption capacity of 50 mg/g. In the presence of heavy metal ions commonly present in wastewater (Cd2+, Co2+, Zn2+, Ni2+, Cu2+ and Hg2+), the Zn-silica maintain excellent stability, high selectivity, and reusability within 5 cycles without a significant decline in efficiency. This study thus presents an effective way of wastewater purification on cost-effective adsorbents for meeting the water scarcity demands.

Abstract
The quest for a cheap, effective, and eco-friendly wastewater treatment technique that is free of secondary toxic byproducts, calls for the fabrication of a nature-friendly adsorbent with a robust capacity to decontaminate polluted water sources and be recycled. To this end, we report the fabrication of novel nanocomposite (KMCM) from microcline (KMC) and multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs). The adsorbents (KMC and KMCM) were characterized using XRD, BET, SEM, TGA and FTIR. The novel and low-cost nano sorbent were designed for the elimination of tartrazine (Tatz) from wastewater. The adsorption of Tatz onto KMC and KMCM was influenced by adsorbent dose, initial Tatz concentration, contact time and solution pH. Experimental data acquired from the equilibrium studies were well addressed by the Langmuir isotherm model. The maximum uptake capacity of 37.96 mg g-1 and 67.17 mg g-1 were estimated for KMC and KMCM. The kinetics for the adsorption of Tatz onto KMC and KMCM was best expressed by pseudo-second-order and Elovich models. The thermodynamic parameters revealed that the uptake of Tatz onto KMC and KMCM was an endothermic (ΔH: KMC = 35.0 kJ mol-1 and KMCM = 42.91 kJ mol-1), entropy-driven (ΔS: KMC = 177.6 J K-1 mol-1 and KMCM = 214.2 J K-1 mol-1) and spontaneous process. Meanwhile, KMCM demonstrated good reusability potential and superior adsorption efficiency when compared to other adsorbents.

Abstract
An environmental friendly hydrogel adsorbent (DEC@GEL) was successfully manufactured by a facile free-radical polymerization method. Multiple characterizations demonstrated that the adsorbent was rich in functional groups and porous structures. The batch and multisystem adsorption experiments were applied to systematically investigate the adsorption properties of methylene blue (MB), malachite green (MG), indigo sodium dimethyl sulfonate (IC) and tartrazine (TR) in wastewater. The experimental results proved that the kinetic and isotherms of four dyes were more consistent with the pseudo-second-order and Langmuir model, respectively. Notably, the maximum adsorption capacities of MB, MG, TR and IC at 318 K were 2186.85, 2302.53, 1766.13 and 2301.75 mg/g, respectively, which were higher than many adsorbents that had been reported. Recycle experiment demonstrated the high reusability of the DEC@GEL. The selectivity and adsorption column experiments proved that DEC@GEL was not only widely applicable to various dyes, but also provided a positive start for the industrial application. Moreover, the simulated adsorption experiments further demonstrate that DEC@GEL had the prospect of application in real industrial conditions. Finally, four adsorption mechanisms had been proposed. Various adsorption experiments had shown that DEC@GEL was not only efficient in processing dyes, but also had great potential for practical industrial applications.

Abstract
As an important biomass resource, agricultural waste is of great significance to improve the application value. In this study, the yellow passion fruit peel (Y-PFP) was used as a biosorbent to remove cationic dyes (methylene blue (MB) and methyl violet (MV)) by the simple treatment process. And the effects of pH, contact time, initial dye concentration, ionic strength, and temperature on the adsorption performance of Y-PFP were studied. The adsorption process was consistent with the pseudo-second-order kinetic model and Langmuir isotherm. What's more, the maximum adsorption capacity for MB and MV was 324.7 and 485.4 mg·g-1, respectively. And Y-PFP still exhibited high removal efficiency after five desorption-adsorption cycles. Thus, Y-PFP had highly valuable for the removal of cationic dyes from wastewater with a simple preparation process, low cost, excellent adsorption capacity and selectivity.

Abstract
Nano-silica particles decorated with amine groups (S-DA) were prepared via a simple, one-pot method, and under very mild conditions in an attempt to improve the affinity of the silica nanoparticles toward capturing anionic organic dye, namely, methyl orange (MO). The prepared sample was characterized by different techniques such as XRD for crystallinity, SEM for morphological structure, TGA for thermal stability, BET surface area, and FTIR for surface functional groups. The prepared sample was tested for the removal of MO under different conditions including the mass of adsorbent, pH, initial concentration, and time. Results showed that the adsorption of MO was very fast with equilibrium achieved in less than 30 min and a maximum removal efficiency of 100% for a mass to volume ratio of 10 g/3 L, a pH of 2.5, initial concentration of 10 mgL−1, and under stagnant conditions. These results were compared with a bare nano-silica, which was not able to adsorb more than 3% after 24 h, indicating the important effect of amine groups. Furthermore, recycling the adsorbent was achieved by rinsing the MO-loaded adsorbent with a dilute solution of KOH. The adsorbent maintained 50% of its initial removal efficiency after four adsorption–desorption cycles.

Abstract
In this study, porous electrospinning polyacrylonitrile nanofiber (PPAN) surface functionalization with amine groups is studied for methyl orange (MO) dye removal from aqueous solution. A series of adsorption experiments were carried out to investigate the influence of initial solution pH value, contact time, initial solution concentration, and adsorption temperature on the adsorption performance. The experimental results showed that the removal of MO on these PPAN-PEI and PPAN-TEPA nanofibrous mats was a pH-dependent process with the maximum adsorption capacity at the initial solution pH of 3, and that the PPAN-PEI and PPAN-TEPA nanofibrous mats could be regenerated successfully after 4 recycling processes. The adsorption equilibrium data were all fitted well to the Langmuir isotherm equation, with maximum adsorption capacity of 1414.52 mg g−1 and 1221.09 mg g−1 for PPAN-PEI and PPAN-TEPA, respectively. The kinetic study indicated that the adsorption of MO could be well fitted by the pseudo-second-order equation and Weber–Morris model. Thermodynamic parameters such as free energy, enthalpy, and entropy of adsorption of the MO were also evaluated, and the results showed that the adsorption was a spontaneous exothermic adsorption process. Amino functionalized porous polyacrylonitrile electrospun nanofibers were fabricated, which have good adsorption performance for MO in an acidic environment.![]()

Abstract
Activated carbon (AC) has been widely utilized for the adsorption of pollutants from water. However, it is difficult to recycle the AC after adsorption. In this paper, we report a facile one-pot approach to fabricate magnetic poly(vinyl alcohol)/AC composite gel (mPVA/AC CG) by dropwise addition of an aqueous mixture of PVA, AC and iron ions into the ammonia solution. The obtained mPVA/AC CG after freeze-drying shows porous microstructure and favorable magnetic properties. The utilization of mPVA/AC CG for adsorptive removal of methylene blue (MB) and methyl orange (MO) dyes from water was investigated. The mPVA/AC CG not only exhibited good adsorption performance for both MB and MO dyes but also could be readily recycled using a magnet after adsorption. The adsorption process was well described by the pseudo-second-order kinetic model and the Langmuir isotherm model. Considering the simple fabrication process, good adsorption performance and favorable magnetic separation capability, this work provides a viable strategy for combining the features of AC and magnetic gel for fabrication of applicable magnetic adsorbent.

Abstract
Developing applicable biosorbents for adsorptive removal of organic pollutants from water is highly demanded. However, most biosorbents suffer poor adsorption capability for anionic organic pollutants due to their negatively charged surface. Herein, we present a facile method to synthesize amine-crosslinked starch (ACS) biosorbent for removing anionic organic pollutants. The adsorption properties of ACS were thoroughly evaluated by selecting anionic brilliant blue (BB), amaranth (ART), diclofenac sodium (DS) as representatives. The results show that the ACS can selectively adsorb anionic molecules with large adsorption capacity and fast removal rate. The adsorption kinetic and isotherm behaviors can be well described by the pseudo-second-order and Langmuir models, respectively. The maximum uptake capacity of ACS for BB, ART and DS is as high as 1287.7, 724.6 and 595.2 mg g-1, respectively. Moreover, the ACS can be easily regenerated and still exhibits favorable adsorption performance even after reusing for five times.

Designed new magnetic functional three-dimensional hierarchical flowerlike micro-nano structure of N-Co@C/NiCo-layered double oxides for highly efficient co-adsorption of multiple environmental pollutants. Abstract
In order to eliminate multiple coexisting pollutants in environmental wastewater, a magnetic three-dimensional hierarchical porous flower-like N, Co-doped graphitic carbon nano-polyhedra decorated NiCo-layered double oxides (N-Co@C/NiCo-LDOs) adsorption material was synthesized, which consisted of two-dimensional LDOs nanosheets with functionalized surfaces (N, Co-doped graphitic carbon loaded on both sides of NiCo-LDOs nanosheets). The adsorption properties of N-Co@C/NiCo-LDOs for five types of typical pollutants (cationic dyes: rhodamine b, methylene blue; pesticides: ethofenprox, bifenthrin; anionic dyes: methyl orange, congo red; inorganic cations: Cr2+, Cd2+, Pb2+, Zn2+, inorganic anions: Cr2O72-, AsO33-) were investigated systematically in single and coexisting systems. Combined with the results of FTIR and zeta potential, the adsorption mechanism was discussed. By virtue of its hierarchical porous architecture and the combined effect of functionalized surfaces and LODs supporter, the as-prepared N-Co@C/NiCo-LDOs demonstrates excellent adsorption performance towards five types of typical pollutants with fast adsorption rate, high adsorption capacity and good co-adsorption performance. More importantly, the N-Co@C/NiCo-LDOs showed satisfactory removal efficiency, stability and reusability in model wastewater. The broad-spectrum, rapid, easily separable, and reusable adsorption properties make N-Co@C/NiCo-LDOs promising for highly efficient wastewater treatments. This work also provides a feasible way for the preparation of adsorption materials for the treatment of complex wastewater systems.

Abstract
The carboxylate-functionalized passion fruit peel (PFPCS) was an efficient and rapid biosorbent for wastewater treatment. The PFPCS exhibited excellent selectivity to the cationic dyes, where the maximum adsorption capacities for methylene blue (MB) and methyl violet (MV) were 1,775.76 mg g-1 and 3,756.33 mg g-1, respectively. And the adsorption process of MB and MV on PFPCS reached equilibrium within 20 min. Moreover, the adsorption conditions and mechanisms were investigated. The adsorption process was in good agreement with the pseudo-second-order and Langmuir isotherm models. The adsorption mechanism was also proposed to be electrostatic interaction and hydrogen bond. After six cycles of desorption-adsorption, the removal efficient of MB and MV could be kept above 95%. Thus, PFPCS was considered as a highly efficient absorbent for removing cationic dyes from polluted water due to excellent adsorption characteristics, low cost and environmental friendliness.

Adsorption of Malachite Green Dye onto Mesoporous Natural Inorganic Clays: Their Equilibrium Isotherm and Kinetics Studies. WATER 2021. Abstract
Contamination of water with organic dyes is a major environmental concern as it causes serious life-threatening environmental problems. The present research was designed to evaluate the potential of three different natural inorganic clays (NICs) i.e., Pakistani bentonite clay (PB), bentonite purchased from Alfa Aesar (BT), and Turkish red mud (RM) for malachite green (MG) dye removal from an aqueous solution. Various analytical techniques, namely X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (XRF), X-ray diffractometry (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), Brunauer–Emmett–Teller surface area measurement (BET), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), were used to investigate the physicochemical properties of the NICs samples. The effect of adsorption operational parameters such as contact time, aqueous phase pH, dye concentration, and amount of NICs on the adsorption behavior of MG onto NICs samples were investigated under the batch adsorption system. The equilibrium and kinetic inspection reflected the best description of MG adsorption behavior by the Langmuir isotherm model and pseudo-first-order kinetic model, respectively. The results indicated that the adsorption was favorable at higher pH. The maximum adsorption capacities calculated by Langmuir isotherm for PB, BT, and RM were found to be 243.90 mg/g, 188.68 mg/g, and 172.41 mg/g, respectively. It can be concluded that natural inorganic clays with a higher surface area can be used as an effective adsorbent material to remove the MG dye from an aqueous solution.
