Abstract
A class of electrode materials with favorable structures and compositions and powerful electrochemical (EC) properties are needed to boost the supercapacitor capacity significantly. In this study, an inventive technique was established to produce a well-aligned nickel-cobalt alloy nanoparticles-encapsulated N-doped carbon nanotubes with porous structure and good conductivity on carbon cloth (NiCo@NCNTs/CC) as a substrate. Then, nanosheets of nickel-cobalt layered double hydroxide (NiCo-LDH) were grown on NiCo@NCNTs/CC via a simple EC deposition method to construct a self-supported monolithic hierarchical nanosheets/nanotubes composite electrode of NiCo-LDH/NiCo@NCNTs/CC. In such a composite electrode, the NiCo@NCNTs can act as a good conductor and structural scaffold to grow NiCo-LDH nanosheets with a three-dimensional open and porous structure, which helps to improve the electron/ion-transfer performance, increase the number of exposed reactive sites, and inhibit the aggregation of NiCo-LDH nanosheets, thereby boosting the capacitance and stability. As a positive electrode, the NiCo-LDH/NiCo@NCNTs/CC hierarchical nanosheets/nanotubes electrode displays 1898 mF cm-2 (1262 A g-1) of high capacitance, long-term stability with a capacitance retention of around 100% after 8000 cycles, and nearly 103% Coulombic efficiency. After assembling into an asymmetric supercapacitor with a Co(OH)2/NiCo@NCNTs/CC negative electrode, 2 V of operating voltage with 73.1 μW h cm-2 (52.8 W h kg-1) of energy density was achieved. Our investigation gives a potential approach for constructing the integrated composite electrode of transition-metal compounds-carbon materials for high-performance supercapacitors.

Abstract
We designed high-volumetric-energy-density supercapacitors from monolithic composites composed of self-standing carbon foam (CF) as the conducting matrix and embedded hierarchically organized porous carbon (PICK) as the active material. Using multiprobe scanning tunneling microscopy at selected areas, we were able to disentangle morphology-dependent contributions of the heterogeneous composite to the overall conductivity. Adding PICK is found to enhance the conductivity of the monoliths by providing additional links for the CF network, enabling high and stable performance. The resulting all-carbon CF-PICK composites were used as self-standing electrodes for symmetric supercapacitors without the need for a binder, additional conducting additive, metals as a current collector, or casting/drying steps. Supercapacitors achieved a capacitance of 181 F g-1 based on the entire mass of the monolithic electrode as well as an outstanding rate capability. Our symmetrical supercapacitors also delivered a record volumetric energy density of 19.4 mW h cm-3 when using aqueous electrolytes. Excellent cycling stability with almost quantitative retention of capacitance was found after 10,000 cycles in 6.0 M KOH as the electrolyte. Furthermore, charge-discharge testing at different currents demonstrated the fast charge-discharge capability of this material system that meets the requirements for practical applications.

Abstract
Nowadays, non-typical yolk/shell structure has drawn much attentions due to the better catalytic performance than traditional counterparts (one yolk/one shell). In this study, ZIF-67 @Co2SiO4/SiO2 yolk/shell structure was prepared in one-step at room temperature, in which ZIF-67 was served as the hard-template, H2O was served as etchant and tetraethyl orthosilicat was served as the raw material for Co2SiO4/SiO2. After calcination, the non-typical CoxOy @Co2SiO4/SiO2 yolk/shell nanoreactor with Co2SiO4/SiO2 dual-shells and CoxOy multiple-cores was obtained. On the one hand, more active sites were exposed on multiple-cores surface and better protection were provided by dual-shells. On the other hand, the sheet-like Co2SiO4 inner shell not only extended the travel path and retention time of pollutants trapped in cavity, but also separated the multiple-cores from aggregation. Therefore, the nanoreactor displayed the outstanding catalytic activity and recyclability in Fenton-like reaction. Metronidazole (20 mg/L) was completely degraded after 30 min, rhodamine B (50 mg/L) and methyl orange (20 mg/L) were removed even within 5.0 min. Catalytic mechanism indicated that 1O2 greatly contributed to the pollutant degradation. This paper presented a simple, versatile, green and energy-saving method for non-typical yolk/shell nanoreactor, and it could inspire to prepare other catalysts with high activity and stability for environmental remediation.

Abstract
Herein, this report uses Co3O4 nanoneedles to decorate Mo-Co3O4 nanosheets over Ni foam, which were fabricated by the hydrothermal route, in order to create a supercapacitor material which is compared with its counterparts. The surface morphology of the developed material was investigated through scanning electron microscopy and the structural properties were evaluated using XRD. The charging storage activities of the electrode materials were evaluated mainly by cyclic voltammetry and galvanostatic charge-discharge investigations. In comparison to binary metal oxides, the specific capacities for the composite Co3O4@Mo-Co3O4 nanosheets and Co3O4 nano-needles were calculated to be 814, and 615 C g−1 at a current density of 1 A g−1, respectively. The electrode of the composite Co3O4@Mo-Co3O4 nanosheets displayed superior stability during 4000 cycles, with a capacity of around 90%. The asymmetric Co3O4@Mo-Co3O4//AC device achieved a maximum specific energy of 51.35 Wh Kg−1 and power density of 790 W kg−1. The Co3O4@Mo-Co3O4//AC device capacity decreased by only 12.1% after 4000 long GCD cycles, which is considerably higher than that of similar electrodes. All these results reveal that the Co3O4@Mo-Co3O4 nanocomposite is a very promising electrode material and a stabled supercapacitor.

Abstract
Recent studies have found that exosomes or extracellular vehicles (EVs) are associated with cancer metastasis, disease progression, diagnosis, and treatment, leading to a rapidly emerging area of exocrine vesicle research. Relying on the superior targeting function and bio-compatibility of exosomes, researchers have been able to deliver drugs to cancer stem cells deep within tumors in mouse models. Despite significant efforts made in this relatively new field of exosome research, progress has been held back by challenges such as inefficient separation methods, difficulties in characterization/tracking, and a lack of specific biomarkers. Therefore, current researches are devoted to combining nanomaterials with exosomes to improve these shortcomings. Adding inorganic/organic nanoparticles such as artificial liposomes and iron oxide can bring more drug options and various fluorescent or magnetic diagnostic possibilities to the exosome system. Moreover, the applications of exosomes need to be further evaluated under actual physiological conditions. This review article highlights the potential of exosome-biomimetic nanoparticles for their use as drug carriers to improve the efficacy of anticancer therapy.

Abstract
The use of nonrenewable fossil fuels for energy has increased in recent decades, posing a serious threat to human life. As a result, it is critical to build environmentally friendly and low-cost reliable and renewable energy storage solutions. The supercapacitor is a future energy device because of its higher power density and outstanding cyclic stability with a quick charge and discharge process. Supercapacitors, on the other hand, have a lower energy density than regular batteries. It is well known that the electrochemical characteristic of supercapacitors is strongly dependent on electrode materials. The current review highlights advance in the TMOs for supercapacitor electrodes. In addition, the newly discovered hybrid/pseudo-supercapacitors have been discussed. Metal oxides that are employed as electrode materials are the focus of this study. The discovery of nanostructured electrode materials continues to be a major focus of supercapacitor research. To create high-performance electrode materials from a morphological standpoint, various efforts have been attempted. Lastly, we analyze the supercapacitor’s evolving trend and our perspective for the future generations of supercapacitors.

Abstract
The exploitation of hybrid supercapacitors with excellent electrochemical properties is of great significance for energy storage systems. Herein, a three-dimensional hierarchical flower-like architecture of nickel phosphide (Ni2P) decorated with nitrogen-doped carbon quantum dots (N-CQDs) and cobalt oxide (Co3O4) is constructed by an effective two-step hydrothermal strategy followed by in situ phosphorization process. Introducing N-CQDs with superior electrochemical characteristics can not only induce the formation of N-CQDs deposited nickel hydroxide (Ni(OH)2) flower-like architecture but also significantly enhance the electrochemical features of Ni(OH)2 nanosheets. After combination with Co3O4 nanoparticles and phosphorization treatment, an advanced cathode of Ni2P/Co3O4/N-CQDs with enriched surface phosphate ions is obtained, which possesses an ultra-high capacity of 1044 C g-1 (2088 F g-1) at 1 A g-1 with a splendid rate capacity of 876 C g-1 (1752 F g-1) at 20 A g-1. Moreover, a device assembled by Ni2P/Co3O4/N-CQDs hierarchical flower-like architecture and p-phenylenediamine functionalized reduced graphene oxide (PPD/rGO) nanosheets depicts a commendable energy density of 53.5 Wh kg-1 at 772.9 W kg-1. This work provides a novel hierarchical multi-component electrode material with decent electrochemical capacities for hybrid supercapacitors, which has a broad prospect in energy storage devices.

Abstract
In this study, binder-free hybrid supercapacitance electrode based on N, Co co-doped porous carbon polyhedral encapsulated carbon nanofibers composites (N-Co/CNF) was prepared through pyrolyzing cobalt based zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIF-67(Co)) incorporated electrospun cellulose nanofibers. With rational combination of the conductivity provided by cellulose derived CNF, promising porosity provided by CNF and ZIF-67(Co) derived porous carbon and uniformly dispersed metallic cobalt nanoparticles, the N-Co/CNF displayed excellent electrochemical properties. Specifically, the N-Co/CNF pyrolyzed at 800 °C possessed superior electrochemical performance in 1 M H2SO4 electrolyte, including a specific capacitance of ~433 F/g and 84% of the capacitance retention after 3000 consecutive charge-discharge cycles. This significantly exceeded the performance of cellulose derived CNF based pure carbonaceous electrode. Therefore, the present study provides a new view on the construction of high performance hybrid supercapacitance electrode which introduces renewable biomass resources like cellulose as both carbonaceous material precursors and conductive binders.

Abstract
Graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4), as the one of the most promising photocatalysts, usually relies on noble metal co-catalysts in the photocatalytic water splitting H2 evolution process, which greatly increases the use cost. Here, a zeolite imidazole framework (ZIF-67) derived Co@NC/g-C3N4 composite was constructed through facile thermal condensation of ZIF-67 and melamine. The obtained Co@NC/g-C3N4 composites can drive water splitting H2 evolution without any noble metal co-catalyst under simulated sunlight. The optimal sample exhibits the highest H2 evolution rate of 161 μmol g-1·h-1, which is 6 times of pure g-C3N4. The N doped carbon in carbonized ZIF-67 can not only quickly capture separated electrons from g-C3N4, but also serve as the co-catalyst. The well dispersed cobalt intermediate on carbonized ZIF-67 also play a role in promoting electron conversion. The formation of junction between carbonized ZIF-67 and g-C3N4 could promote quick charge carrier separation and transfer. This work provides a new idea for photocatalytic H2 evolution without noble metal co-catalysis.

Abstract
Dopant engineering in nanostructured materials is an effective strategy to enhance electrochemical performances via regulating the electronic structures and achieving more active sites. In this work, a robust electrode based on Fe and Mn co-doped Co3S4 (FM-Co3S4) ultrathin nanosheet arrays (NSAs) on the Ni foam substrate is prepared through a facile hydrothermal method followed by a subsequent sulfurization reaction. It has been found that the incorporation of Fe ions is beneficial to higher specific capacity of the final electrode and Mn ions contribute to the excellent rate capability in the reversible redox processes. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations further verify that the Mn doping in the Co3S4 obviously shorten the energy gap of Co3S4, which favors the electrochemical performances. Due to the synergetic effects of different transition metal ions, the as-prepared FM-Co3S4 ultrathin NSAs exhibit a high specific capacity of 390 mAh g-1 at 5 A g-1, as well as superior rate capability and excellent cycling stability. Moreover, the corresponding quasi-solid-state hybrid supercapacitors constructed with the FM-Co3S4 ultrathin NSAs and active carbon exhibit a high energy density of 55 Wh kg-1 at the power density of 752 W kg-1. These findings demonstrate a new platform for developing high-performance electrodes for energy storage applications.

Abstract
In the past decades, the energy consumption of nonrenewable fossil fuels has been increasing, which severely threatens human life. Thus, it is very urgent to develop renewable and reliable energy storage devices with features of environmental harmlessness and low cost. High power density, excellent cycle stability, and a fast charge/discharge process make supercapacitors a promising energy device. However, the energy density of supercapacitors is still less than that of ordinary batteries. As is known to all, the electrochemical performance of supercapacitors is largely dependent on electrode materials. In this review, we firstly introduced six typical transition metal oxides (TMOs) for supercapacitor electrodes, including RuO2, Co3O4, MnO2, ZnO, XCo2O4 (X = Mn, Cu, Ni), and AMoO4 (A = Co, Mn, Ni, Zn). Secondly, the problems of these TMOs in practical application are presented and the corresponding feasible solutions are clarified. Then, we summarize the latest developments of the six TMOs for supercapacitor electrodes. Finally, we discuss the developing trend of supercapacitors and give some recommendations for the future of supercapacitors.
