Abstract
A rational design of heterojunctions with high-quality contacts is essential for efficiently separating photogenerated charge carries and boosting the solar-driven harvesting capability. Herein, we fabricated a novel heterojunction of SnO2 quantum dots-anchored CdS-CdCO3 with g-C3N4 nanosheets as a superior photocatalyst. SnO2 quantum dots (SQDs) with positively charged surfaces were tightly anchored on the negatively charged surface of CdS nanosheets (NSs). The resulting CdS@SnO2 was finally decorated with g-C3N4 NSs, and a new crystalline phase of CdS-CdCO3 was formed during the hydrothermal decoration process, g-C3N4 decorated CdS-CdCO3@SnO2 (CdS-CdCO3@SnO2@g-C3N4). The as-synthesized photocatalysts were evaluated for the degradation of methyl orange dye under solar light conditions. The CdS-CdCO3@SnO2@g-C3N4 exhibited 7.7-fold and 2.3-fold enhancements in photocatalytic activities in comparison to those of the bare CdS and CdS@SnO2 NSs, respectively. The optimal performance of CdS-CdCO3@SnO2@g-C3N4 is primarily attributed to the cascade-type conduction band alignments between 2D/0D/2D heterojunctions, which can harvest maximum solar light and effectively separate photoexcited charge carriers. This work provides a new inspiration for the rational design of 2D/0D/2D heterojunction photocatalyst for green energy generation and environmental remediation applications.

Abstract
The luminescence properties and excellent carrier transfer ability of carbon quantum dots (CQDs) have attracted much attention in the field of photocatalysis. In this work, we loaded the CQDs on the surface of Cu2O to enhance the visible-light property of Cu2O. Furthermore, the composite was used for selective oxidation of benzyl alcohol to benzaldehyde. The composite catalyst achieved high selectivity (90%) for benzaldehyde at room temperature, leveraging its visible-light-induced electron transfer properties and its photocatalytic activity for hydrogen peroxide decomposition. ·OH was shown to be the main reactive oxygen species in the selective oxidation reaction of benzyl alcohol. The formation of heterostructures of CQDs/Cu2O promoted charge carrier separation and provided a fast channel for photoinduced electron transfer. This novel material exhibited enhanced levels of activity and stability for selective oxidation of benzyl alcohol. Potential applications of carbon quantum dot composites in conventional alcohol oxidation reactions are shown.

Remarkably enhanced catalytic performance in CoO x/Bi 4Ti 3O 12 heterostructures for methyl orange degradation via piezocatalysis and piezo-photocatalysis. ULTRASONICS SONOCHEMISTRY 2023; 100:106616. Abstract
A novel heterojunction composite of CoOx/Bi4Ti3O12 was synthesized through a combination of molten salt and photodeposition methods. The optimal sample exhibited superior performance in the piezocatalytic degradation of methyl orange (MO) dye with a degradation rate of 1.09 h-1, which was 2.4 times higher than that of pristine Bi4Ti3O12. Various characterizations were conducted to reveal the fundamental nature accountable for the outstanding piezocatalytic performance of CoOx/Bi4Ti3O12. The investigation of the band structure indicated that the CoOx/Bi4Ti3O12 composite formed a type-I p-n heterojunction structure, with CoOx acting as a hole trapper to effectively separate and transfer piezogenerated carriers. Significantly, the MO degradation rate of the best CoOx/Bi4Ti3O12 sample further increased to 2.96 h-1 under combined ultrasonic vibration and simulated sunlight. The synergy between piezocatalysis and photocatalysis can be ascribed to the following factors. The photoexcitation process ensures the sufficient generation of charge carriers in the CoOx/Bi4Ti3O12, while the piezoelectric field within Bi4Ti3O12 promotes the separation of electron-hole pairs in the bulk phase. Furthermore, the heterojunction structure between Bi4Ti3O12 and CoOx significantly facilitates the surface separation of charge carriers. This increased involvement of free electrons and holes in the reaction leads to a remarkable enhancement in catalytic MO degradation. This work contributes to the understanding of the coupling mechanism between the piezoelectric effect and photocatalysis, and also provides a promising strategy for the development of efficient catalysts for wastewater treatment.

Abstract
The use of natural solar radiation is a low-cost significant technology for water pollution remediation and production of clean energy. In this work, S-scheme Ag2CO3/g-C3N4 heterojunctions were engineered for carefully eradicating Rhodamine B dye under natural sunlight irradiation. Solid thermal decomposition reactions generate g-C3N4 sheets by annealing urea at 520 °C. Ag2CO3 nanoparticles are directed and localized sonochemically to the active centers of g-C3N4 sheets. The physicochemical properties of the solid specimen were determined by PL, DRS, XRD, HRTEM, mapping, EDX, N2-adsorption-desorption isotherm and XPS analyses. As elucidated by HRTEM, PL and DRS analyses, 5 wt% of spherical Ag2CO3 nanoparticles deposited on the g-C3N4 sheet surface and nearly equidistant from each other elevate the electron-hole separation efficiency and broaden the absorption capacity of photocatalysts. Rhodamine B dye was degraded at a rate of 0.0141 min-1 by heterojunctions containing 5 wt% Ag2CO3 and 95 wt% g-C3N4, which is three-fold higher than that on pristine g-C3N4 nanosheets. Free radical scrubber experiments revealed the contribution of charge carriers and reactive oxygen species to the decomposition of RhB dye with a preferential role of positive holes and superoxide species. PL measurements of terephthalic acid and scrubber trapping experiments provide confirmatory evidence for charge diffusion via the S-scheme mechanism that accounts for the production of electron-hole pairs with strong redox power. This novel research work is contributory to manipulate the S-scheme heterojunction for efficient and low-cost wastewater treatment under natural solar irradiation.

Abstract
In this study, hollow CeO2 nanospheres were grown on UIO-66-NH2 nanosheets to form a novel CeO2/UiO-66-NH2 (abbreviation, CUx) Z-scheme heterojunction photocatalyst by calcination and hydrothermal method for hydrogen production and photocatalytic degradation of organic pollutants. Under visible light, the H2 generation rate of the CU0.50 composite was 5662.1 μmol g-1 h-1, which was 22 and 7 fold than that of pure CeO2 and pure UiO-66-NH2, respectively. In addition, compared with CeO2 and UiO-66-NH2, the as-prepared CUx composites exhibited enhanced photo-degradation efficiencies for tetracycline (TC) and 2,4-dichlorophenol (DCP) under simulated solar light irradiation. Among them, the CU0.50 composite demonstrated the highest photocatalytic performance and reached 91.5% for TC, and 94.3% for DCP. In addition, a logical solid-state Z-type electron transfer mechanism is presented with the results of radical scavenging and ESR experiments to illustrate the intensive decomposed ability of the photocatalytic system. The enhanced photocatalytic performance of CUx heterostructures can be attributed to the formation of a band-position-matched hollow structure heterojunction between CeO2 and UIO-66-NH2, which can effectively inhibit the recombination of carriers and increase the specific surface area as well as the light absorption. Moreover, the oxidation and reduction ability of the charge carriers was also increased. This work resulted in a feasible idea for removing organic pollutants and hydrogen production by traditional inorganic semiconductor/MOF-based heterostructured photocatalysts.

Abstract
Visible-light-driven amines oxidation coupled with hydrogen peroxide (H2 O2 ) generation is a promising way to convert solar energy to chemical energy. Herein, a series of hyper-cross-linked polymers (HCPs) photocatalysts with different arenes monomers, including benzene (BE), diphenyl (DP), p-terphenyl (TP), or p-quaterphenyl (QP), were synthesized by simple Friedel-Crafts alkylation reaction. Owing to the maximum monomer's conjunction degree and excellent oxygen (O2 ) adsorption capacity, QP-HCPs exhibited highest photocatalytic activity for benzylamine oxidation coupled with H2 O2 generation under the irradiation of 455 nm Blue LED lamp. More than 99 % of benzylamine could be converted to N-benzylidenebenzylamine within 60 min. In addition, nearly stoichiometric H2 O2 was synchronously obtained with a high production rate of 9.3 mmol gcat -1 h-1 . Our work not only demonstrated that the photocatalytic activity of HCPs photocatalysts significantly depends on monomer's conjunction degree, but also provided a new strategy for converting solar energy to chemical energy.

Abstract
The present work described a unique approach for CO2 reduction to methanol along with the oxidation of various amines to the corresponding imines and photocatalytic H2O2 production from H2O and molecular O2 using a heterojunction photocatalyst made up of ZnIn2S4/Ni12P5/g-C3N4(NCZ) under visible light irradiation. The photocatalysts were synthesized via a high-temperature treatment of nickel and phosphorous precursors with g-C3N4 followed by decoration of ZnIn2S4. The synthesized photocatalysts were characterized using various spectroscopic and microscopic techniques. The density functional theory (DFT) studies suggested the participation of the valence band maximum (VBM) from Ni12P5 and the conduction band maximum (CBM) from ZnIn2S4 in the ternary NCZ heterojunction. The ternary composite exhibited superior photocatalytic activity compared to that of its individual components due to the formation of a heterojunction, thereby enhancing the transfer efficiency of electrons from the conduction band of g-C3N4 to that of ZnIn2S4 using Ni12P5 as an electron bridge. Moreover, the reduced band gap of the ternary heterojunction played a key role in its higher efficiency.

This work designed and prepared a novel heterojunction composite NiO/BaTiO3 through a method of photodeposition and used it in piezocatalytic dye removal for the first time. Results of the piezocatalytic test indicated that the NiO/BaTiO3 composite presented superior efficiency and stability in the RhB degradation under the vibration of ultrasonic waves. The best NiO/BaTiO3 sample synthesized under light irradiation for 2 h displayed an RhB degradation rate of 2.41 h-1, which was 6.3 times faster than that of pure BaTiO3. By optimizing the piezocatalytic reaction conditions, the degradation rate constant of NiO/BaTiO3 can further reach 4.14 h-1 A variety of systematic characterizations were executed to determine the reason for the excellent piezocatalytic performance of NiO/BaTiO3. The band potentials of NiO and BaTiO3 are found to coincide, and at their contact interface, they may create a type-II p-n heterojunction structure. Driven by the potential difference and the built-in electric field, piezoelectrically enriched charge carriers can migrate between NiO and BaTiO3, resulting in improved efficiency in charge separation and an increase in the piezoelectric catalytic performance. This study may provide a potential composite catalyst and a promising idea for the design of highly efficient catalysts in the field of piezoelectric catalysis.

Abstract
Low activity of photocatalysts is a serious bottleneck to the practical application of photocatalytic technology. In this paper, a series of BiOCl composite photocatalysts containing carbon quantum dots (CQDs) were successfully prepared by adding Panax notoginseng powder (PNP) to the solvothermal synthesis system of BiOCl as a template agent and a raw material for 0D CQDs. CQDs/BiOCl exhibit 2D flake structures and 3D flower-like microspheres self-assembled from thin flakes, holding rich oxygen vacancies (OVs). After detailed characterization, it was found that the amount of OVs on BiOCl could be regulated according to the amount of PNP added. The CQDs/OVs-BiOCl photocatalysts exhibit higher photogenerated charge separation efficiency and photocatalytic activity than the bare BiOCl. When the mass ratio of PNP/BiOCl is 1.0%, the photocatalyst demonstrates the maximum degradation activity for rhodamine B (RhB) and perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA). In view of the solid observations, a photocatalytic enhancement mechanism of CQDs/BiOCl was elucidated.
