Abstract
BACKGROUND The effect of statins on CIMT progression and C-reactive protein (CRP) in T2DM patients is widely reported. However, some studies demonstrated no effect of statins on CIMT and CRP in T2DM patients, while others reported otherwise. Thus, the current study comprehensively and quantitatively analyzes data from previous studies to evaluate the overall effect of statins on CIMT and CRP in T2DM to rule out any inconsistencies observed in previous clinical evidence. Therefore, the aim of this meta-oanalysis was to evaluate the effect of statins on CIMT progression and CRP in T2DM. METHODS A comprehensive search for studies was performed using PubMed, Scopus, Web of Sciences, and the Cochrane Library, for publications from their inception to 16 July 2024. The meta-analysis was conducted using Jamovi (version 4.2.8) and Review Manager (version 5.4), with the overall effect sizes reported as standardized mean differences (SMD) and 95% confidence intervals (CI). RESULTS Evidence from eleven studies (fifteen statin dosages) that met the inclusion criteria with a sample size of 983 T2DM patients on statin treatment was analyzed. The overall effect size from the random effect model meta-analysis showed a reduction in the CIMT status amongst T2DM patients post-statin treatment compared to at baseline [SMD = -0.47, 95%CI (-0.76, -0.18), p = 0.001]. Furthermore, there was a reduction in the level of CRP in T2DM patients post-treatment [SMD = -1.80, 95% CI (-2.76, -0.84), p < 0.001]. CONCLUSIONS Evidence gathered in this study suggests that statin therapy effectively reduces CIMT and CRP levels among patients living with T2DM. Interestingly, this evidence suggests that 20 mg of atorvastatin is more effective in reducing CIMT and CRP. Therefore, we recommend conducting further trials with larger sample sizes and proper methodology for T2DM.

Abstract
AIMS To determine whether carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT), a surrogate marker of cardiovascular disease (CVD), is associated with long-term blood glucose control in individuals with type 1 diabetes (T1D). METHODS We recruited 508 individuals (43.4% men; median age 46.1, IQR 37.8-55.9 years) with T1D (median diabetes duration of 30.4, IQR 21.2-40.8 years) in a cross-sectional retrospective sub-study, part of the Finnish Diabetic Nephropathy (FinnDiane) Study. Glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) data were collected retrospectively over the course of ten years (HbA1c-meanoverall) prior to the clinical study visit that included a clinical examination, biochemical sampling, and ultrasound of the common carotid arteries. RESULTS Individuals with T1D had a median CIMT of 606 μm (IQR 538-683 μm) and HbA1c of 8.0% (7.3-8.8%) during the study visit and HbA1c-meanoverall of 8.0% (IQR 7.3-8.8%). CIMT did not correlate with HbA1c (p = 0.228) at visit or HbA1c-meanoverall (p = 0.063). After controlling for relevant factors in multivariable linear regression analysis, only age was associated with CIMT (p < 0.001). After further dividing CIMT into quartiles, no correlation between long-term glucose control and CIMT (%, 1st 8.1 [IQR 7.2-8.9] vs 4th 7.9 [7.4-8.7], p = 0.730) was found. CONCLUSIONS We observed no correlation between long-term blood glucose control and CIMT in individuals with T1D. This finding suggests that the development of early signs of macrovascular atherosclerosis is not strongly affected by the glycemic control in people with T1D.

Abstract
Introduction For the past years, the prevalence of obesity is growing in the general population of children, as well as among diabetic patients, resulting in increased risk of cardiovascular complications. Type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) is one of the most common chronic diseases in children and young adults, leading to decreased life quality and lifespan, with obesity being recognized recently as a major contributing factor to these health problems. The objective of this study was to analyze and compare the selected novel markers for metabolic complications of obesity and vascular risk factors between obese non-diabetic and obese T1DM children and young adults. Methods One hundred four subjects, aged between 10 and 24 years (31 with T1DM and excessive body weight, 41 with obesity without diabetes, and 32 with T1DM and normal weight), and 32 matched lean controls were included in the study. Clinical characteristics, blood pressure measurements, daily requirement for insulin, HbA1c%, plasma lipids, fetuin-A, E-selectin, and osteoprotegerin levels were compared with respect to body mass index (BMI), body mass index standard deviation score (BMI-SDS), and carotid intima-media thickness (cIMT) of common carotid arteries. Results Patients with T1DM and excessive body weight compared to non-diabetic obese subjects had similar values of systolic blood pressure (125.6 ± 8.2 vs. 127.3 ± 12.9 mmHg, p = 0.515), diastolic blood pressure (78.19 ± 7.03 vs. 78.02 ± 8.01 mmHg, p = 0.918), cholesterol (175.26 ± 34.1 vs. 163.51 ± 26.08 mg/dl, p = 0.102), LDL (108.03 ± 32.55 vs. 112.22 ± 26.36 mg/dl, p = 0.548), and triglyceride levels (118.19 ± 71.20 vs. 117 ± 55.80 mg/dl, p = 0.937); all values were found to be higher compared to non-obese T1DM and healthy controls. HbA1c level and insulin resistance indices were significantly worse in T1DM obese vs. T1DM non-obese patients. Fetuin-A levels were higher among obese non-diabetic patients (p = 0.01), and E-selectin and osteoprotegerin levels were similar in both groups with obesity, but higher than in the reference group. There were no statistical differences in cIMT with T1DM with normal weight, excessive weight, and non-diabetic obese children; however, the cIMT value was higher compared to the reference group. Discussion Novel markers of metabolic complications of obesity are similar between obese T1DM and non-diabetic subjects. Obesity in patients with T1DM results in worse metabolic control, insulin resistance, and increased risk for vascular complications.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1D) is a chronic disease leading to cardiovascular complications that can be diagnosed early as subclinical vascular damage. To prevent such damage, it is important to increase knowledge of the effects of the different cardiovascular risk factors in patients with T1D. The aim of our study was to assess possible associations between markers of subclinical arterial damage and traditional cardiovascular risk factors, with a special focus on peripheral blood pressure and central blood pressure (cBP), in a sample of young adults with T1D. PATIENTS AND METHODS The study included 172 T1D patients (mean age 24.7 ± 8.7 years, duration of T1D 13.5 ± 9.6 years). Pulse wave velocity (PWV), pulse wave analysis and cBP were assessed by tonometry (SphygmoCor Xcel). Carotid intima-media thickness (cIMT) and carotid distensibility coefficient (cDC) were assessed by high-resolution echo-Doppler analysis and further examined with dedicated hardware. RESULTS Seventeen patients (10.1%) were classified as hypertensive by office peripheral blood pressure, and 48 patients (27.9%) were classified as hypertensive by cBP. One hundred sixteen patients (68.8%) had cDC under the range of normality, one patient had a PWV (0.6%) above 10 m/s, and no patients had a cIMT above 0.9 mm. In multivariable analysis, central SBP, but not metabolic parameters, remained associated with all the markers of subclinical arterial damage [cIMT ( β = 0.288 ± 0.001; P < 0.001), PWV ( β = 0.374 ± 0.007; P < 0.001), cDC ( β = -0.149 ± 0.055; P = 0.029)]. CONCLUSION The independent association between cBP and markers of subclinical vascular damage underlines the importance of haemodynamic factors in the development of early signs of macrovascular disease in T1D patients. Further studies are warranted to better define the role of cBP to stratify cardiovascular risk, to individualize the need for follow-up and to tailor preventive strategies in T1D patients.

Abstract
AIMS Cardiovascular disease (CVD) represents the most frequent cause of morbidity and mortality among patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM). Our aim was to review the evidence and conduct a meta-analysis assessing measures of arterial stiffness by pulse wave velocity (PWV) and augmentation index (AIx) in children and adolescents with T1DM compared to healthy controls. METHODS PubMed and the Cochrane Library were searched for relevant studies published up to 10 May 2021. RESULTS Twenty-one studies were finally included in the meta-analysis. The T1DM group had significantly higher carotid to femoral PWV levels than that of the control group (mean difference [d]: 0.53 CI: 0.35-0.71, P < 0.00001) but with a fair heterogeneity (I 2:73%). By omitting one study with marked heterogeneity, mean difference in cfPWV remained significantly increased in the T1DM group compared to the control group (mean difference [d]: 0.37 CI: 0.27-0.48, P < 0.00001) but with improved heterogeneity (I2 = 26%). Regarding Aix, the T1DM group had a significantly higher AI@75 index than that of the control group (mean difference [d]: 0.28 CI: 0.17-0.39, P < 0.00001) and with no heterogeneity (I 2 = 8%). CONCLUSIONS Youths with T1DM show increased arterial stiffness, either as increased carotid-femoral pulse wave velocity or increased augmentation index, early in their course of life compared to healthy controls. Abstract
OBJECTIVE Despite the high incidence and mortality of cardiovascular events in hyperuricemia patients, the role of serum uric acid in cardiovascular diseases is still controversial. The aim of this meta-analysis was to explore the difference of carotid intima-media thickness in hyperuricemia and control groups. METHODS We performed this meta-analysis by searching the PubMed, Cochrane Library, Embase and Web of Science databases up to July 2020. The 95% confidence intervals and standard mean differences were calculated to analyze the differences in carotid intima-media thickness in hyperuricemia groups and control groups. Sensitivity analysis, subgroup analysis and meta-regression were used to explore the sources of heterogeneity. Publication bias was evaluated by funnel plot and Begg's regression test. We used Stata 14.0 software to complete our analyses. RESULTS A total of 8 articles were included. The results showed that there was a significant increase in carotid intima-media thickness in the hyperuricemia groups compared with the control groups [SMD = 0.264, 95% CI (0.161-0.366), P < 0.001]. Subgroup analyses showed that age, sample size, blood pressure and body mass index were not the source of heterogeneity. Meta-regression enrolled the method of CIMT measurement, location, age, smoking and diabetes mellitus as categorical variables, but none of these factors was found to be significant in the model. The Begg's test value (P = 0.174) was greater than 0.05, indicating there was no publication bias. CONCLUSION The results showed that carotid intima-media thickness was increased in hyperuricemia patients compared with controls, which indicated that hyperuricemia patients may have a higher risk of cardiovascular diseases.

Abstract
Diabetes mellitus complicated with cerebral infarction (DMCI) has a high incidence and disability rate. Therefore, identification of biomarkers for the early prediction of the development and progression of cerebral infarction (CI) is of great significance for the prevention and treatment of this disease. The roles of serum homocysteine (Hey), interleukin-1β (IL-1β), and fasting blood glucose (FBG) in DMCI and their correlations with carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT) were explored. A total of 124 patients with DMCI (DMCI group) and 103 patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) (DM group) admitted to the People's Hospital of Liuhe District of Nanjing were enrolled in this study. A further 100 healthy controls undergoing physical examinations during the same period (HC group) were also enrolled. CIMT value was detected by carotid artery ultrasound. Hey and FBG levels were determined by a fully automatic biochemical analyzer. The IL-1β level was detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The levels of Hey, IL-1β, and FBG and the CIMT value in the DMCI and DM groups were significantly higher than those in the HC group (P<0.001). The levels and the value in the DMCI group were significantly higher than those in the DM group (P<0.001). Hey, IL-1β, and FBG levels were positively correlated with CIMT value (r=0.542, P<0.001; r=0.522, P<0.001; r=0.402, P<0.001). Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves showed that the sensitivity and specificity of Hey for diagnosing DMCI were 86.29 and 80.58%; those of IL-1β were 68.55 and 86.41%; those of FBG were 69.35 and 88.35%. Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), Hey, IL-1β, FBG, and CIMT were independent risk factors for DMCI (P<0.05). In conclusion, patients with DMCI have severe atherosclerosis. Hey, IL-1β, and FBG are involved in the development and progression of DMCI, so they can be used as predictive markers for the disease. Hey, IL-1β, FBG, and CIMT are independent risk factors for patients with DMCI.

Abstract
AIMS Epidemiological data on subclinical atherosclerotic disease in type 1 diabetes mellitus (DM1) are scarce. We aimed to estimate the subclinical atherosclerosis profile of asymptomatic patients with DM1 and an abnormal ankle-brachial index (ABI). MATERIAL AND METHODS In a cross-sectional design (ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT02910271), we estimated ABI in 289 consecutive asymptomatic patients with DM1. An abnormal ABI led to measurements of toe-brachial index (TBI) and peripheral doppler ultrasound (DUS) to diagnose peripheral artery disease (PAD) and/or atherosclerotic carotid plaques (ACP). RESULTS A reduced (≤0.9) or increased (>1.2) ABI was detected in 17 (6%) and 75 (26%) patients, respectively. PAD was confirmed by TBI and DUS in 9 (53%) patients with a reduced ABI and 28 (37%) patients with an increased ABI, resulting in a 12.8% (9.4-17.2) prevalence of asymptomatic PAD. Fourteen patients with an abnormal ABI also exhibited ACP [4.8% (2.9-7.9)], with 64% of these patients showing bilateral disease. Artery stenosis was mild or moderate in 21% and 29% of patients, respectively. Thus, 46 [16% (12-21)] patients showed asymptomatic PAD, ACP, or both. According to our data, we would have to explore three asymptomatic patients with DM1 and normal pulses to unmask one case of PAD, and seven asymptomatic patients showing abnormal ABI values to detect one carotid disease. CONCLUSIONS Peripheral artery disease is often undiagnosed in asymptomatic patients with DM1. However, its presence may change medical management in a substantial percentage of cases, highlighting the potential benefit of a thorough vascular assessment on these patients.

Abstract
Cardiovascular (CV) risk in type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) is increased. In this study, we evaluated the differences in major markers of CV risk between patients with T1DM and healthy controls by a systematic review and meta-analysis. Literature from PubMed, EMBASE, and The Cochrane Library comparing CV risk markers between patients with T1DM and controls was obtained. The overall standard mean differences (SMDs) of carotid intima–media thickness (cIMT), endothelium-dependent flow-mediated dilation (FMD%), carotid-femoral pulse wave velocity (cf-PWV), and glyceryl trinitrate-mediated dilatation (GTN%) with its 95% confidence interval (CI) between patients with T1DM and control groups were calculated using fixed-effect or random-effect model. Heterogeneity was evaluated using the Cochran Q and I2 statistics. The results showed that patients with T1DM had a significantly greater cIMT (SMD: 0.89; 95% CI, 0.69-1.09; P < .001), significantly lower FMD% (SMD: −1.45%; 95% CI, −1.74 to −1.17; P < .001), significantly increased cf-PWV (SMD: 0.57; 95% CI, 0.03-1.11; P < .001), and significantly decreased GTN% (SMD: −1.11; 95% CI, −1.55 to −0.66; P < .001) than controls. Our results support the current evidence for an elevated CV burden in patients with T1DM and affirm the clinical utility of markers of subclinical atherosclerosis in the management of these patients.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION There is a 3-fold higher prevalence of cardiovascular complications in patients with type 1 diabetes. The aim was to assess the relationship between subclinical atherosclerosis and visceral fat and fatty liver in diabetic adolescents. MATERIAL AND METHODS The study was performed on 110 adolescents with type 1 diabetes (T1D) attending the Pediatric Diabetes Clinic of the University Hospital, Ismailia, Egypt. Their mean age was 14.2 ±0.7 years with a mean duration of diabetes 6 ±0.3 years. They were divided into group 1 which consisted of 55 adolescents with T1D and normal carotid intima media thickness (cIMT) and the second group which included 55 adolescents with T1D and subclinical atherosclerosis. All adolescents were normotensive, normo-albuminuric and had no retinopathy. Visceral fat thickness was measured as the distance between the anterior wall of the aorta and the posterior surface of the rectus abdominis muscle. Hepatic steatosis was diagnosed based on enlarged liver size and evidence of diffuse hyper-echogenicity of liver relative to kidneys. RESULTS The mean visceral fat was significantly higher in adolescents with increased cIMT (4.8 ±1.6) than in the normal thickness group (3.9 ±1.4). Liver size was also significantly larger in the former group (13.73 ±2.26 versus 12.63 ±2.20) (p = 0.022). After adjusting for other variables, logistic regression demonstrated that glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) and fatty liver are independent factors affecting cIMT, OR = 1.426 (p < 0.05) and OR = 4.71 (p < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS In the present study, fatty liver and HbA1c were associated with subclinical atherosclerosis in lean adolescents with T1D.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND AIMS The relationship between dietary intake and carotid intima media thickness (IMT) and pulse wave velocity (PWV) in individuals with type 1 and type 2 diabetes has not been well studied. We investigated the association between dietary intake and common carotid artery intima media thickness (CCA IMT) and PWV in a cohort with type 1 and type 2 diabetes. METHODS AND RESULTS A one-year randomised controlled trial was conducted to investigate the effect of improving dietary quality on CCA IMT. These subjects were followed up again approximately 12 months after the completion of the trial (i.e. approximately 24 month since baseline). The study cohort included 87 subjects that had dietary intake and CCA IMT measured at baseline and after a mean of 2.3 years' follow-up. PWV was measured in a subsample of this cohort. Age and baseline mean CCA IMT were strongly associated with mean CCA IMT at 24 months. After adjustment for age and baseline mean CCA IMT, baseline consumption of carbohydrate (r = -0.28; p = 0.01), sugars (r = -0.27; p = 0.01), fibre (r = -0.26; p = 0.02), magnesium (r = -0.25; p = 0.02) and the Alternate Health Eating Index (AHEI) score (r = -0.23; p = 0.03) were inversely associated with mean CCA IMT at 24 months. Mixed linear modelling showed an interaction between mean CCA IMT and AHEI at baseline (p = 0.024). Those who were in the highest AHEI tertile at baseline had greater CCA IMT regression at 24 months compared to those in the lowest tertile, after adjustment for baseline age, BMI, smoking pack years, time since diabetes diagnosis, and mean arterial pressure at baseline (mean -0.043 mm; 95% CI -0.084, -0.003; p = 0.029). CONCLUSIONS In this prospective analysis greater diet quality at baseline, as measured by the AHEI, was associated with greater CCA IMT regression after approximately two years. This suggests that greater diet quality is associated with better longer term vascular health in individuals with type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

Abstract
Background Cardiovascular (CV) disease due to atherosclerosis is a major cause of morbidity and mortality in adult patients with diabetes, either type 1 or type 2 diabetes. The aim of the study was to assess the association of the frequency and the burden of subclinical carotid atherosclerotic disease in patients with type 1 diabetes according to the presence and severity of diabetic retinopathy (DR). Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted in 340 patients with type 1 diabetes (41.5% with DR), and in 304 non-diabetic individuals. All participants were free from previous CV disease and chronic kidney disease (CKD). B-mode carotid ultrasound imaging was performed in all the study subjects. Patients with type 1 diabetes underwent a full eye examination, and DR patients were divided into two groups: mild disease and advanced disease. Results In the group of patients with type 1 diabetes, the percentage of patients with carotid plaques was higher in those with DR compared with those without DR (44.7% vs. 24.1%, p < 0.001). Patients with DR also presented a higher incidence of ≥ 2 carotid plaques (25.5% vs. 11.1%, p < 0.001). Apart from other traditional cardiovascular risk factors, the presence of advanced stages of DR was independently associated with the presence (p = 0.044) and the burden (≥ 2 carotid plaques; p = 0.009) of subclinical carotid atherosclerosis. Conclusions In patients with type 1 diabetes without previous CV disease or established CKD, the presence of advanced stages of DR is associated with a higher atherosclerotic burden in the carotid arteries. The presence of DR identifies patients at risk for carotid atherosclerotic disease. Abstract
AIMS Cardiac autonomic neuropathy (CAN) is a frequent and severe complication of type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM). CAN diagnosis is associated with increased cardiovascular morbidity and mortality, often due to progressive atherosclerosis. Carotid intima media thickness (CIMT) is a surrogate marker of the atherosclerosis. The aim of our study was to evaluate the relationship between CIMT and CAN in T1DM patients. METHODS Total of 49 T1DM patients and 45 healthy controls were examined for CAN presence and CIMT. CAN was diagnosed based on the results of Ewing test battery and spectral analysis of heart rate variability. CIMT was measured by two-dimensional ultrasound. Biochemical, anthropometric and anamnestic risk markers of atherosclerosis were evaluated. We used logistic types of generalized additive models (GAM) for statistical analysis. RESULTS CAN was detected in 22 out of 49 T1DM patients (45%). All 45 healthy controls had normal cardiovascular autonomic tests results. CIMT was significantly positively associated with T1DM diagnosis (p=0.0251), CAN diagnosis (p=0.007), age (p<0.0001), BMI (p=0.0435) and systolic blood pressure (p=0.0098). CAN effect on CIMT interacted with the effect of T1DM. The combination of both factors significantly increased CIMT more than the sum of the individual T1DM and CAN status. CONCLUSIONS CAN is significantly associated with higher CIMT in T1DM patients. CAN may play a role in pathogenesis of atherosclerosis in type 1 diabetes mellitus.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Pre-eclampsia (PE) is a pregnancy-specific hypertensive disorder that has been associated with cardiovascular risk factors and vascular changes, such as acute atherosis in placental blood vessels, similar to early-stage atherosclerosis. The objective of this study was to determine whether women with PE have increased atherosclerotic burden, as determined by the carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT), compared with women without PE. METHODS We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of studies that reported CIMT, a non-invasive, ultrasound-based measure of subclinical atherosclerosis, in women who did vs those who did not have PE. Studies were eligible if they had been conducted during pregnancy or during the first decade postpartum, and if CIMT was measured in the common carotid artery. Studies published before 7 March 2016 were identified through PubMed, EMBASE and Web of Science. Two reviewers used predefined forms and protocols to evaluate independently the eligibility of studies based on titles and abstracts and to perform full-text screening, data abstraction and quality assessment. Heterogeneity was assessed using the I2 statistic. Standardized mean difference (SMD) was used as a measure of effect size. RESULTS Fourteen studies were included in the meta-analysis. Seven studies were carried out during pregnancy complicated by PE, 10 were carried out up to 10 years postpartum and three included measurements obtained at both time periods. Women who had PE had significantly higher CIMT than did those who did not have PE, both at the time of diagnosis (SMD, 1.10 (95% CI, 0.73-1.48); P < 0.001) and in the first decade postpartum (SMD, 0.58 (95% CI, 0.36-0.79); P < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS Atherosclerotic load is present at the time of PE and may be a mechanism associated with the disease. Measurement of CIMT may offer an opportunity for the early identification of premenopausal women with atherosclerotic burden after a PE pregnancy. Copyright © 2016 ISUOG. Abstract
BACKGROUND Increased carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT), a marker of subclinical atherosclerosis, is an independent predictor of future cardiovascular events, and has been reported in children with various chronic diseases, including type 1 diabetes mellitus (DM1). OBJECTIVES Evaluate CIMT and its association with cardiovascular risk factors in Brazilian adolescents with DM1. METHODS Cross-sectional study of 118 adolescents, 57 with DM1 and no chronic complications related to the disease, and 61 healthy individuals. Clinical, biochemical, and high-resolution B-mode ultrasonographic evaluations according to the Consensus Statement of the American Society of Echocardiography CIMT Task Force were performed. RESULTS Adolescents with diabetes (66.6% female) were 14.5 ± 2.9 years old and had 9.0 ± 4.0 years of disease duration. The healthy adolescents (62.3% female) were 14.3 ± 2.6 years old. All the adolescents had blood pressure within their reference ranges. In 66% of DM1 adolescents the systolic blood pressure was >50th percentile. Increased CIMT was observed in adolescents with diabetes compared with those in the control group: 0.53 vs 0.51 mm (p < 0.004) on the right side, and 0.55 vs 0.51 mm (p < 0.001) on the left side. CIMT presented independent and positive associations with diabetes duration, total cholesterol level, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol level, and systolic blood pressure percentile in DM1 adolescents. CONCLUSIONS Increased CIMT was observed in young Brazilian adolescents with DM1, and was associated with cardiovascular risk factors. CIMT assessment may be useful for the early identification and monitoring of cardiovascular risk in this age group.
