Abstract
The application of lithium metal batteries is limited by the drawbacks of safety problems and Li dendrite formation. Quasi-solid-state electrolytes (QSSEs) are the most promising alternatives to commercial liquid electrolytes due to their high safety and great compatibility with electrodes. However, Li dendrite formation and the slow Li+ diffusion in QSSEs severely hinder uniform Li deposition, thus leading to Li dendrite growth and short circuits. Herein, an eco-friendly and low-cost sodium lignosulfonate (LSS)-assisted PVDF-based QSSE is proposed to induce uniform Li deposition and inhibit Li dendrite growth. Li symmetric cells with 5%-LSS QSSE possess a high Li+ transfer number of 0.79, and they exhibit a long cycle life of 1000 h at a current density/areal capacity of 1 mA cm-2/5 mAh cm-2. Moreover, due to the fast electrochemical dynamics endowed by the improved compatibility of the electrodes and fast Li+ diffusion, the LFP/5%-LSS/Li full cells still maintain a high capacity of 110 mAh g-1 after 250 cycles at 6C. This work provides a novel and promising choice that uses eco-friendly LSS as an additive to PVDF-based QSSE in Li metal batteries.

Abstract
Solid lithium batteries (SLBs) have received much attention due to their potential to achieve secondary batteries with high energy density and high safety. The solid electrolyte (SE) is believed to be the essential material for SLBs. Among the recent SEs, composite electrolytes have good interfacial compatibility and customizability, which have been broadly investigated as promising contenders for commercial SLBs. The high Li+ transference number (t Li + ${{_{{\rm Li}{^{+}}}}}$ ) of composite electrolytes is critically important concerning the power/energy density and cycling life of SLBs, however, which is often overlooked. This Review presents a current opinion on the key factors in high t Li + ${{_{{\rm Li}{^{+}}}}}$ composite electrolytes, including polymers, Li-salts, inorganic fillers, and additives. Various strategies concerning providing a continuous pathway for Li-ions and immobilizing anions via component interaction are discussed. This Review highlights the major obstacles hindering the development of high t Li + ${{_{{\rm Li}{^{+}}}}}$ composite electrolytes and proposes future research directions for developing composite electrolytes with high t Li + ${{_{{\rm Li}{^{+}}}}}$ .

Abstract
The polymer electrolytes are considered to be an alternative to liquid electrolytes for lithium-ion batteries because of their high thermal stability, flexibility, and wide applications. However, the polymer electrolytes have low ionic conductivity at room temperature due to the interfacial contact issue and the growing of lithium dendrites between the electrolytes/electrodes. In this study, we prepared gel polymer electrolytes (GPEs) through an in situ thermal-induced cationic ring-opening strategy, using LiFSI as an initiator. As-synthesized GPEs were characterized with a series of technologies. The as-synthesized PNDGE 1.5 presented good thermal stability (up to 150 °C), low glass transition temperature (Tg < −40 °C), high ionic conductivity (>10−4 S/cm), and good interfacial contact with the cell components and comparable anodic oxidation voltage (4.0 V). In addition, PNGDE 1.5 exhibited a discharge capacity of 131 mAh/g after 50 cycles at 0.2 C and had a 92% level of coulombic efficiency. Herein, these results can contribute to developing of new polymer electrolytes and offer the possibility of good compatibility through the in situ technique for Li-ion batteries.

Abstract
Medical apparatus and instruments, such as vascular grafts, are first exposed to blood when they are implanted. Therefore, blood compatibility is considered to be the critical issue when constructing a vascular graft. In this regard, the coating method is verified to be an effective and simple approach to improve the blood compatibility as well as prevent the grafts from blood leakage. In this study, polyester fabric is chosen as the substrate to provide excellent mechanical properties while a coating layer of polyurethane is introduced to prevent the blood leakage. Furthermore, gelatin is coated on the substrate to mimic the native extracellular matrix together with the improvement of biocompatibility. XPS and FTIR analysis are performed for elemental and group analysis to determine the successful coating of polyurethane and gelatin on the polyester fabrics. In terms of blood compatibility, hemolysis and platelet adhesion are measured to investigate the anticoagulation performance. In vitro cell experiments also indicate that endothelial cells show good proliferation and morphology on the polyester fabric modified with such coating layers. Taken together, such polyester fabric coated with polyurethane and gelatin layers would have a promising potential in constructing vascular grafts with expected blood compatibility and biocompatibility without destroying the basic mechanical requirements for vascular applications.
