Abstract
The atmospheric degradation of chlorotrifluoroethylene (CTFE) by OH˙ was investigated using density functional theory (DFT). The potential energy surfaces were also defined in terms of single-point energies derived from the linked cluster CCSD(T) theory. With an energy barrier of -2.62 to -0.99 kcal mol-1 using the M06-2x method, the negative temperature dependence was determined. The OH˙ attack on Cα and Cβ atoms (labeled pathways R1 and R2, respectively) shows that reaction R2 is 4.22 and 4.42 kcal mol-1, respectively, more exothermic and exergonic than reaction R1. The main pathway should be the addition of OH˙ to the β-carbon, resulting in ˙CClF-CF2OH species. At 298 K, the calculated rate constant was 9.87 × 10-13 cm3 molecule-1 s-1. The TST and RRKM calculations of rate constants and branching ratios were performed at P = 1 bar and in the fall-off pressure regime over the temperature range of 250-400 K. The formation of HF and ˙CClF-CFO species via the 1,2-HF loss process is the most predominant pathway both kinetically and thermodynamically. With increasing temperature and decreasing pressure, the regioselectivity of unimolecular processes of energized adducts [CTFE-OH]˙ gradually decreases. Pressures greater than 10-4 bar are often adequate for assuring saturation of the estimated unimolecular rates when compared to the RRKM rates (in high-pressure limit). Subsequent reactions involve the addition of O2 to the [CTFE-OH]˙ adducts at the α-position of the OH group. The [CTFE-OH-O2]˙ peroxy radical primarily reacts with NO and then directly decomposes into NO2 and oxy radicals. "Carbonic chloride fluoride", "carbonyl fluoride", and "2,2-difluoro-2-hydroxyacetyl fluoride" are predicted to be stable products in an oxidative atmosphere.

Abstract
The reactions of γ-dehydronitration of furaxanenitrolic acids have been studied within the density functional theory using molecular electron density theory scheme at the MPWB1K(PCM)/6-311G(d,p) level of theory. The alteration of bonding along the course of the reaction is studied in the topology of the electron density functional within the bonding evolution theory perspective. The characteristics of electron density changes indicate that we can distinguish six different phases in the nitrous acid extrusion from furaxanenitrolic acid 1a. These different phases related to the intrinsic reaction coordinate path of the analyzed reaction denote the non-concerted nature of the molecular mechanism.

Abstract
The present paper is a continuation of comprehensive study regarding to synthesis and properties of pyrazoles and their derivatives. In its framework an experimental and theoretical studies of thermal decomposition of the 3,3-diphenyl-4-(trichloromethyl)-5-nitropyrazoline were performed. It was found, that the decompositions of the mentioned pyrazoline system in the solution and at the melted state proceed via completely different molecular mechanisms. These mechanisms have been explained in the framework of the Molecular Electron Density Theory (MEDT) with the computational level of B3LYP/6-31G(d). A Bonding Evolution Theory (BET) examination of dehydrochlorination of the 3,3-diphenyl-4-(trichloromethyl)-5-nitropyrazoline permits elucidation of the molecular mechanism. It was found, that on the contrary for most known HCl extrusion processes in solution, this reaction is realised via single-step mechanism.

Abstract
A homogenous series of β-EWG functionalyzed β-nitrostyrenes was synthesized and characterized by IR, UV, 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectra. The obtained compounds were screened in vitro against a panel of the reference strains of bacteria and fungi - five of them exhibited significant antimicrobial activity against all tested reference bacteria and fungi belonging to yeasts. Cytotoxicity of the compounds towards cultured human HepG2 and HaCaT cells was established – five of them displayed similar low pattern of activity in both cells lines.
The process of searching for new antibacterial agents is more and more challenging due to the increasing drug resistance which has become a major concern in the field of infection management. Our study presents a synthesis and characterization by IR, UV, 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectra of a homogenous series of 1-EWG functionalized 2-aryl-1-nitroethenes which could prove good candidates for the replacement of traditional antibacterial drugs In vitro screening against a panel of the reference strains of bacteria and fungi and their cytotoxicity towards cultured human HepG2 and HaCaT cells was performed. Antimicrobial results indicated that four of the synthesized compounds exhibited a significant antimicrobial activity against all tested reference bacteria and fungi belonging to yeasts with a specific and strong activity towards B. subtilis ATCC 6633. Two of these compounds had no detectable cytotoxicity towards the cultured human cell lines, making them promising candidates for new antibacterial drugs.

Abstract
The molecular mechanism of the phenylsulfenic acid elimination from nitroalkyl systems has been explored using M06-2X/6-31++G(d,p) theoretical level. It was found that independently of environment polarity as well as degree of screening of nitroalkyl moiety, these types of reactions proceed via one-step, polar mechanism with asynchronous transition state. According to actual state of knowledge this type of the mechanism should not be treated as "pericyclic". Simultaneously, all attempts for localization of stationary structures which can be related to the hypothetical, stepwise mechanism were not successful.

Abstract
A simple, highly efficient synthesis of a series of novel chiral non-racemic rigid tetracyclic phosphorus ligands, applicable in important chemical asymmetric transformations, was performed. In a tandem cross-coupling/C-H bond activation reaction, a well-recognised and readily available ligand (R,R)-NORPHOS was used as the starting material. The palladium complexes of new ligands were obtained and characterised on the example of a crystalline dichloropalladium complex of [(1R,2R,9S,10S,11R,12R)-4-phenyltetracyclo[8.2.1.02,9.03,8]trideca-3,5,7-triene-11,12-diyl]bis(diphenylphosphane). A notably high activity and stereoselectivity of the palladium catalysts based on the new ligands were confirmed in a model asymmetric allylic substitution reaction. Herein, we discuss the geometry of the palladium complexes formed and its impact on the efficiency of the catalysts. A comparison of their geometric features with other bis(phosphane) ligand complexes found in the Cambridge Structural Database and built density functional theory (DFT) commutated models is also presented and rationalised.

Abstract
ABSTRACT 5-(Nitromethyl)-3-phenyl-4,5-dihydroisoxazole was obtained as a product of a high-yielding [3 + 2] cycloaddition reaction of in situ-generated benzonitrile N-oxide and 3-nitroprop-1-ene. For the first time, the regiochemistry of this reaction was unambiguously proven by X-ray structural analysis. The quantum-chemical calculation performed at the M06-2X/6-31G(d) (PCM) theoretical level affords a basis for explaining the course of reaction as well as the nature of transition states. Next, further DFT calculations together with spectral data shed light on structural aspects of the product. GRAPHICAL ABSTRACT

Abstract
The DFT calculations of the simplified model of the asymmetric Suzuki–Miyaura coupling reaction were performed at the M062x/LANL2DZ theory level at first. It was found that enantioselective reactions mediated by the palladium complexes of chiral C,P-ligands follow a four-stage mechanism similar to that proposed previously as one of the most credible mechanisms. It should be underlined that the presence of substituents in the substrates and the chiral ligand at ortho positions determines the energies of possible diastereoisomeric transition states and intermediates in initial reaction steps. This suggests that, in practice, a sharp selection of theoretically possible paths of chirality transfer from the catalyst to the product should have a place and, therefore, the absolute configuration of the formed atropisomeric product is defined and can be predicted.

Using DFT calculations at various theory levels, quantum-chemical simulations of decomposition paths were performed for a series of nitroalkyl benzoates. It was discovered, that these reactions proceed via polar, but one-step mechanism. It turned out that depending on the nature of the substituent in the ester molecule and on medium polarity, the studied reactions may take place via transition states with varied synchronicity—from E1-like structures, to E1cb-like structures. A purely ionic, two-stage mechanism was not identified in any of the cases.

Abstract
DFT calculations at various theory levels unequivocally show that conversion of 5-nitroisoxazolidines into β-lactams does not take place via a ring opening step (as hitherto suggested), but takes place according to a three-step, domino-type reaction.
