Abstract
In this study, we present a thoughtful integration of a dispersive solid-phase sorbent and oxine for the ultrasensitive and highly selective determination of Al3+ ions. Cobalt ferrite nanoparticles (CoFe2O4 NPs) modified with oxine were employed to facilitate the pre-concentration and estimation of Al3+, forming highly fluorescent chelate. The modification process included the assistance of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) and sonication. The results indicated that the fluorescence intensity of Al3+-oxine/SDS@CoFe2O4 NPs surpassed that of Al3+-oxine alone. The confirmation of the successful functionalization of CoFe2O4 NPs with oxine was established through various techniques. Under optimal conditions, the fluorescence intensity exhibited a positive correlation with increasing concentrations of Al3+ within the range of 0.029-600 ng mL-1, achieving a detection limit of 0.0087 ng mL-1 based on signal to noise ratio 3 : 1. The developed method was effectively applied to the determination of Al3+ in drinking water samples, yielding recoveries in the range of 97.19% to 103.13%, with a relative standard deviation (RSD%) not exceeding 3.78%.

A new method for extraction and pre-concentration of the heavy metals using a microemulsion system in winsor II equilibrium and determination by HR-CS AAS. CHEMOSPHERE 2023; 338:139428. Abstract
For the very first time, a microemulsion system in the Winsor II (WII) equilibrium was applied in a sample preparation method for extraction and pre-concentration in the determination of Pb, Cd, Co, Tl, Cu and Ni, in natural waters by high resolution continuum source atomic absorption spectrometry (HR-CS AAS). The method was optimized using the graphite furnace atomization. A simplex-centroid design for determine optimum extraction condition (77.5% aqueous phase, 5% of the oil phase, and 17.5% cosurfactant/surfactant ratio - C/S = 4) was applied. The optimized time for the sample preparations was around 30 min. The analytical performance of the optimized method using HR-CS GF AAS showed that the detection limits were: 0.09, 0.01, 0.06, and 0.05 μg L-1 for determination of Pb, Cd, Tl, and Co, respectively and the enrichment factors were between 6 and 19, considered excellent for all analytes. The RSD values were lower than 5%, demonstrating the good precision of the proposed method. When the optimized method was applied using the HR-CS F AAS, the sensibility increased 9 to 12 times for Cu and Ni, respectively. The analytical method was successfully applied for the determination of analytes in Certified Reference Material and real samples for natural waters such as Brackish water (recovery between 107 and 112%), Saline water (recovery between 83 and 94%), Produced water from oil industry (recovery between 98 and 110%) and Fresh water (recovery 80 and 87% to Cu and Ni respectively). All the results confirming the accuracy of the analytical method proposed. The repeatability of the measurements has been better 5% (n = 3), for all elements.

Abstract
Fast quantitative determination of active aluminum (Ala) in natural and treated water is extremely desirable. The fluorescence method based on complexation by 8-hydroxyquinoline (8-HQ) is highly promising, but the measurement could be severely interfered by hardness ions and natural organic matter (NOM). This study was devoted to refining the 8-HQ complexation-fluorescence method for measurement of Ala by eliminating the interferences. Results showed that magnesium ions at a typical concentration in natural water could have a substantial positive interference, due to the formation of Mg-8-HQ complexes which have fluorescence regions similar to Al-8-HQ. NOM, represented by fulvic acid (FA), could not interfere the aluminum measurement considerably. It was primarily because 8-HQ has much stronger complexing ability than NOM with aluminum. Theoretical calculations showed that reducing the buffering pH (from 7.5) to 6.5 or using a masking ligand such as edetate (EDTA) could effectively alleviate the interference mainly caused by magnesium. Experimental results confirmed the theoretical predictions. Refined procedures were suggested for more accurate while fast determination of Ala in natural or treated water. The refined method has a quantification limit of ~4 μg/L, a linear range of measurement up to 700 μg/L, and a relative standard deviation of ~0.8%.

Abstract
Aluminum is very common in the natural environment and in everyday human life. We are living in the "aluminum age." Its average daily intake should not exceed a few mg/day. Unfortunately, despite the growing number of alarming data about the toxicity of this element, human exposure to aluminum is constantly increasing. The toxicity and bioavailability of aluminum depends mainly on the form in which it occurs. The main variables conditioning the form are the concentration, the type, the molar ratio of aluminum to ligand, the pH value, and the temperature. This research presents a new method for speciation analysis of both inorganic and organic aluminum complexes in model solutions by LC-ICP-MS. Different solutions with variable pH values and different Al/ligand molar ratios (fluorides and several organic ligands, e.g., citrates and oxalates ions) were used. The chromatographic separation process was carried out based on isocratic and gradient elution, using a cation exchange analytical column. All determinations have been confirmed based on chemical equilibrium modeling programs. The new developed method was successfully applied for the first time in speciation analysis of real samples: white and red wine.
