Abstract
Due to the urgent need for detecting trace amounts of 3,3',4,4'-tetrachlorobiphenyl (PCB77) in the environment, we have developed an efficient and visible-driven photoelectrochemical (PEC) sensing platform based on carbon quantum dots (CQDs) modified titanium dioxide nanorods (TiO2 NRs), coupling with exonuclease I (Exo I) assisted in target recycling for significant signal amplification. CQDs/TiO2 NRs with high visible-light absorption ability and electron-hole separation efficiency is used as photoactive substrate for anchoring anti-PCB77 aptamer and its complementary DNA (cDNA). With the addition of PCB77, the specific interaction between PCB77 and its aptamer forces aptamer to separate from the electrode surface, resulting in an increase in photocurrent density. Adding Exo I in the test system, a self-catalytic target cycle was motivated, which significantly increased the PEC signal by more than twice, achieving signal amplification. The relationship between the photocurrent density changes and the concentrations of PCB77 are utilized to achieve quantitative detection of PCB77. The designed PEC sensing platform has good analytical performance with a detection limit as low as 0.33 pg L-1, high selectivity and stability. Moreover, the PEC sensor is successfully used to evaluate the content of PBC77 in the environment samples. The established sensing platform provides a simple and efficient method for detecting trace amounts of PCB77 in the environment.

Abstract
Tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBPA) is a known endocrine disruptor employed in a range of consumer products and has been predominantly found in different environments through industrial processes and in human samples. In this review, we aimed to summarize published scientific evidence on human biomonitoring, toxic effects and mode of action of TBBPA in humans. Interestingly, an overview of various pretreatment methods, emerging detection methods, and treatment methods was elucidated. Studies on exposure routes in humans, a combination of detection methods, adsorbent-based treatments and degradation of TBBPA are in the preliminary phase and have several limitations. Therefore, in-depth studies on these subjects should be considered to enhance the accurate body load of non-invasive matrix, external exposure levels, optimal design of combined detection techniques, and degrading technology of TBBPA. Overall, this review will improve the scientific comprehension of TBBPA in humans as well as the environment, and the breakthrough for treating waste products containing TBBPA.

Abstract
Photocathodic biosensor has great capability in anti-interference from reductive substances, however, the low signal intensity of photoactive species with inferior detection sensitivity restricts its wide application. In this work, the P3HT-PbS nanocomposites were synthesized as signal tags, by integrating with target-trigger generated hemin/G-quadruplex nanotail as bi-enhancer to significantly apmplify the photocurrent, an ultrasensitive photocathodic biosensor was proposed for detection of β2-microglobulin (β2-MG). Impressively, P3HT with cathode signal is an attractive polymer consisted of substantial thiophene groups with high absorption coefficient and mobility of photo-generated holes, which could anchor with the PbS dots as sensitizer, providing a high charge mobility and strong photosensitivity. More importantly, target-trigger generated hemin/G-quadruplexes could accept the electron from illuminated photoactive species through the conversion of Fe(III)/Fe(II) in hemin, effectively reducing charge recombination rate as well as accelerating the generation of electron acceptor O2 in the assistant of H2O2. Moreover, hemin/G-quadruplexes inherited the HRP mimicking catalytic capability that further improved the produce of plentiful O2. As a result, PEC cathode signal was significantly enhanced for sensitive analysis of β2-MG protein with a good detection range of 0.1 pg/mL to 100 ng/mL. It would provide a path for establishing PEC platform with excellent anti-interference ability and extend the application of photoelectrochemical (PEC) biosensor in bioanalysis and early disease diagnosis.

Abstract
In view of the urgent need to determine polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in the environment, we report a simple and sensitive electrochemical aptasensor to detect 3,3',4,4'-tetrachlorobiphenyl (PCB77) based on Exonuclease III-powered Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) walking machine using poly (diallyldimethylammonium chloride) (PDDA), which was functionalized hollow porous graphitic carbon nitride/ Ni-Co hollow nanoboxes/ Au-Pd-Pt nanoflowers composite material. Upon the addition of PCB77, the specific binding between PCB77 and the aptamer (Apt) could trigger the Exo III-assisted cyclic amplification process and release unlocking probes to deblock the Swing arm/Blocker duplex. Finally, the hybridized hairpin 3 (HP3), a short oligonucleotide, was left on the electrode via Exo III digestion of hybridized HP2, and thus a strong methylene blue (MB) signal was obtained. As expected, the proposed aptasensor exhibits exceptional PCB77 detection performances with a very low detection limit of 5.13 pg/L and a wide linear range of 0.01-100 ng/L based on the calibration curve. Moreover, the aptasensor presents a high level of selectivity and stability, with an acceptable degree of reproducibility. The results of this study have indicated that the proposed aptasensor has great potential application prospects, as demonstrated by its successful use in real environmental water samples.

Abstract
In this work, we demonstrated an ultrasensitive detection platform for polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) based on DNA microcapsules and a nonlinear hybridization chain reaction (NHCR). In the process, first, electrochemical signal molecules (Methylene Blue, MB) were sealed in the prepared DNA microcapsules. In the presence of PCB-72, DNA microcapsules could be dissociated with the conjugation of the aptamer and target, and meanwhile, the released DNA strand could initiate the NHCR and trigger the chain branching growth of DNA dendrimers. Because the released MBs were intercalated into the DNA dendrimer, enhanced electrochemical responses could be detected. This method exhibited ultrahigh sensitivity to PCB-72 with a detection limit of 0.001 ng mL-1. Furthermore, the present aptasensor was also capable of discriminating different PCB congeners. Therefore, the devised label-free and enzyme-free amplification electrochemical aptasensor strategy has great potential for the detection of PCB-72 in real samples, and this strategy may also become an attractive alternative for sensitive and selective small molecule, protein, nucleic acid and nuclease activity detection.

Abstract
A visible light self-powered photoelectrochemical (PEC) aptasensor based on silver chromate particles, graphitic carbon nitride nanosheets and graphene oxide sheets (Ag2CrO4/g-C3N4/GO) for the ultrasensitive detection of chloramphenicol (CAP) was reported in this work. g-C3N4 was considered to be the fundamental photoelectric material because of its great oxidation ability of photogenerated hole as well as excellent biocompatibility and low toxicity. However, the narrow light absorption range and rapid carrier recombination rate limit the application of pure g-C3N4. Herein, Ag2CrO4 and GO as photosensitizer were introduced to improve the photoelectric properties of g-C3N4. The photocurrent of the developed ternary composite was about 3 times higher than that of pristine g-C3N4, which proves it can be used as a suitable photoelectric active material. Moreover, the mechanism of Z-scheme electron transfer path was proved by density functional theory (DFT) calculation. The fabricated PEC aptasensor exhibited high sensitivity toward CAP with a wide liner response of 0.5 pM to 50 nM and a detection limit of 0.29 pM. The specific recognition mechanism and excellent sensing performance indicated this aptasensor could serve as a useful tool for selective and ultrasensitive CAP detection in practical analysis.

Abstract
In this work, 3D hierarchical Cu2SnS3@SnS2 flower assembled from nanopetals with sandwich-like Cu2SnS3-SnS2-Cu2SnS3 double interfacial heterojunction was successfully designed and synthesized on fluoride doped tin oxide (FTO) for photoelectrochemical (PEC) sensor by in situ electrodeposition p-type Cu2SnS3 nanoparticles on both inner and outer surfaces of n-type SnS2 nanopetals. The unique double interfacial heterojunction simultaneously combines 3D flower-like architectures to drastically increase the light trapping and absorption in visible-near infrared range (Vis-NIR), and dramatically inhibites the charge carrier recombination, which is crucial for boosting the PEC activity. Benefitting from the shape and compositional merits, the Cu2SnS3@SnS2 heterojunction possess dual-mode signal by controlling the electrodeposition time to manipulate the composition ratio of Cu2SnS3 and SnS2. The Cu2SnS3@SnS2/FTO electrode not only exhibits excellent photoeletro-reduction capacity for ultra-sensitive sensing trace persistent organic pollutant (nitrobenzene, NB), but also presents photoeletro-oxidization activity for high selective detection of L-cysteine (L-Cys) without any auxiliary enzyme under the light illumination. Dual mode sensor displayed superb performance for the detection of NB/L-Cys, showing a wide linear range from 100 pM to 300 μM/10 nM to 100 μM and a low detection limit (3S/N) of 68 pM/8.5 nM, respectively. Such a tunable double interfacial heterojunction design opened up new avenue for constructing multifunction PEC sensing platform.

Abstract
Photoelectrocatalytic (PEC) reduction and removal of atrazine, one typical endocrine disruptor chemical, was achieved on Pd quantum dots modified TiO2 nanotubes (PdQDs@TiO2NTs) under regulating potentials. Compared with that on TiO2NTs, the PEC reduction efficiency of atrazine on PdQDs@TiO2NTs significantly increased, mainly attributed to the reduced electron transfer resistance, longer lifetime of the photogenerated electrons and the faster electron injection from the catalyst to atrazine in the solution. Meanwhile, PdQDs could also function as cocatalyst so that the electrocatalytic activity of PdQDs@TiO2NTs was evidently improved. Moreover, the investigation indicated that the applied potential not only played important role in accelerating the separation of photogenerated electrons and holes, but also with the increment of the cathodic potential, the PEC reduction mechanism of atrazine underwent the variation of electro-assisted photocatalysis, synergetic photoelectro-catalysis, and photoassisted electro-catalysis. A highest atrazine PEC reduction efficiency was achieved as 99.5% on PdQDs@TiO2NTs in about 5 h under the potential of -1.3 V vs. SCE, whereas the highest synergetic effect of photo- and electro- catalysis was achieved at a lower potential of -0.9 V vs. SCE.

In view of the urgent need of determining polychlorinated biphenyls in the environment, we developed a highly sensitive and selective photoelectrochemical (PEC) aptasensor for determination of 3,3',4,4'-tetrachlorobiphenyl (PCB77) by immobilizing aptamer on N-doped TiO2 nanotubes (N-doped TiO2 NTs). To improve analytical performance of the PEC sensor, the complementary DNA functionalized CdS quantum dots (DNA-CdS QDs) were introduced onto N-doped TiO2 NTs by hybridization. In addition of PCB77, owing to high affinity of aptamer to PCB77, PCB77-aptamer complexes were formed by being bound of PCB77 whilst DNA-CdS QDs were released from the sensing surface. The complexes with poor conductivity hindered the interfacial electron transfer, leading to the photocurrent decrease. The more important is the release of DNA-CdS QDs enhanced the photocurrent decrease, playing the role of signal amplification. The photocurrent change was utilized to detect PCB77 quantitatively. The PEC aptasensor exhibited excellent analytical performance for detection of PCB77 with wide linear range of 0.1-100 ng/L and a low detection limit of 0.1 ng/L. It manifested outstanding selectivity for PCB77 in control experiments by employing six interferents which had similar structure or coexisted with PCB77. Besides, the PEC aptasensor was used to detect the content of PBC77 in the environment.
