Abstract
Levels of CA125 are strongly associated with cervical, pancreatic, bowel and breast cancer. However, the common CA125 detection method has the disadvantages of poor repeatability, high cost, easy to be disturbed and poor stability. In this work, a COF based electrochemical immunosensor was developed for the rapid, sensitive and stable detection of CA125. The COFDha-Tab synthesized by 2,5-dihydroxyp-phenyldiformaldehyde (Dha) and 1,3,5-tris(4-aminophenyl)benzene (Tab) can better absorb primary antibody (Ab1) of CA125 after epoxidation, and the COFDAAQ-TFP synthesized by 2,6-diaminoanthraquinone (DAAQ) and 2,4,6-triformylphloroglucinol (TFP) was modified with AuNPs, which can not only improve the electrochemical performance but also provide a platform for loading secondary antibody (Ab2). CA125 can be specifically recognized and captured by EP-COFDha-Tab adsorbed to Ab1, which can further bind the signal probe AuNPs@COFDAAQ-TFP/Ab2. The signal response of the electroactive molecule COFDAAQ-TFP is positively correlated with the concentration of CA125 to achieve the quantitative detection of CA125.The sensor exhibited a low detection limit of 0.0067 U/mL and a linear range from 0.01 to 100 U/mL. This work presents a novel approach utilizing electroactive COFs as signal probes for the sensitive and quantitative detection of carbohydrate antigens.

Abstract
The high surface area, open pore-structure and atomic-level organization inherent in many covalent organic frameworks (COFs) make them an attractive polymer platform for developing functional materials. Herein, a chemically robust 2D COF (TpOMe-DAPQ COF) containing phenanthraquinone moieties was prepared by condensing 2,4,6-trimethoxy-1,3,5-benzenetricarbaldehyde (TpOMe) and 2,7-diamino-9,10-phenanthraquinone (DAPQ) using the convenient mechanochemical method. The poor charge-storage capacity of the pristine TpOMe-DAPQ COF was substantially improved by first investigating its redox-site accessibility (RSA) using different conductivity-enhancement methods, and then optimizing the amount of EDOT needed to perform an in-situ polymerization. The resulting composite (0.4EDOT@TpOMe-DAPQ) was characterized and its enhanced charge-storage capabilities enabled it to be used as an anode material in an aqueous Mn beaker-cell battery capable of delivering 0.76 V. This work outlines the rational design approach used to develop a functional charge-storage material utilizing a COF-based polymerization platform.

Abstract
Extensive utilization of pesticides and herbicides to boost agricultural production increased the environmental health risks, which can be mitigate with the aid of highly sensitive detection systems. In this study, an electrochemical sensor for monitoring the carcinogenic pesticides in the environmental samples has been developed based on sulfur-doped graphitic-carbon nitride-gold nanoparticles (SCN-AuNPs) nanohybrid. Thermal polycondensation of melamine with thiourea followed by solvent exfoliation via ultrasonication leads to SCN formation and electroless deposition of AuNPs on SCN leads to SCN-AuNPs nanohybrid synthesis. The chemical composition, S-doping, and the morphology of the nanohybrid were confirmed by various microscopic and spectroscopic tools. The as-synthesized nanohybrid was fabricated with glassy carbon (GC) electrode for determining the carcinogenic hydrazine (HZ) and atrazine (ATZ) in field water samples. The present sensor exhibited superior electrocatalytic activity than GC/SCN and GC/AuNPs electrodes due to the synergism between SCN and AuNPs and the amperometric studies showed the good linear range of detection of 20 nM-0.5 mM and 500 nM-0.5 mM with the limit of detection of 0.22 and 69 nM (S/N = 3) and excellent sensitivity of 1173.5 and 13.96 μA mM-1 cm-2 towards HZ and ATZ, respectively. Ultimately, the present sensor is exploited in environmental samples for monitoring HZ and ATZ and the obtained results are validated with high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) technique. The excellent recovery percentage and close agreement with the results of HPLC analysis proved the practicability of the present sensor. In addition, the as-prepared materials were utilized for the photocatalytic degradation of ATZ and the SCN-AuNPs nanohybrid exhibited higher photocatalytic activity with the removal efficiency of 93.6% at 90 min. Finally, the degradation mechanism was investigated and discussed.

Abstract
Given the extensive need for the detection of hydrazine (N2H4) in the biomedical and chemical-pharmaceutical sectors, there is a necessity to devise a fast, sensitive, specific, and portable technique for precisely quantifying hydrazine at environmental levels. In our work, an "OFF-ON" type fluorescent probe namely 2-(4-(10-(naphthalen-2-yl)anthracen-9-yl)phenyl)isoindole-1,3-dione (NAP), which was inspired by the "Gabriel" reaction, was synthesized. The NAP fluorescent cellulose film successfully achieved the detection of hydrazine vapor with a LOD = 0.658 ppm. Compared to previous qualitative methods for detecting hydrazine, this study successfully achieved quantitative identification of hydrazine at low concentrations. In addition, a portable sensor device based on NAP cellulose film was successfully integrated, enabling ultra-sensitive, wireless, remote, and real-time detection of N2H4 vapor. It was determined that the probe (NAP) exhibited excellent detection performance when applied to various environmental samples including distilled water, tap water, creek water, soil and plants. This study introduces a potentially effective approach for detecting hydrazine in real-world settings.

Abstract
Most of the existing electrochemical systems failed to achieve satisfactory results in early diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease (AD) owing to a deficiency of effective signal transduction. A new method for the electrochemical detection of AD biomarkers (amyloid-beta oligomers, Aβ1-42 oligomers) was developed based on a double amplification strategy. Titanium carbide (Ti3C2) MXene decorated by gold nanoparticles (Au-MXene) as the electrode substrate not only gave rise to the electrochemical response due to its paradoxical surface area and conspicuous charge mobility, but also provided vast numbers of binding sites for aptamers (Apt) of Aβ1-42 oligomers. Meanwhile, AuNPs were incorporated into covalent organic frameworks (COFs), which were further modified by Apt and electron mediator (toluidine blue, TB). The Apt/TB-Au@COFs composite was utilized as a label because of their improvement of the electron-hole separation efficiency and optimization of the charge-carrier utilization. The proposed electrochemical assay established highly efficient platform for the detection of Aβ1-42 oligomers with a linear range from 0.01 pg mL-1 to 180 pg mL-1 and an ultralow detection limit of 4.27 fg mL-1 (S/N = 3). This biosensing platform had potential applications in molecular diagnostics of AD serum samples.

Abstract
A solid-contact ion-selective electrode (SC-ISE) based on a covalent organic framework@reduced graphene oxide (rGO) composite is proposed. The composite can be synthesized through the polycondensation of 1,3,5-triformylphloroglucinol (TFP) and 2,6-diaminoanthraquinone (DAAQ) on the rGO nanosheets, which shows high capacitance and good redox-active properties. By applying Cd2+-ISE as a model, the electrode exhibits a Nernstian slope of 29.7 ± 0.4 mV/decade in the activity range of 1.0 × 10-7 - 7.9 × 10-4 M and the limit of detection is 6.8 × 10-8 M. Particularly, the electrode based on DAAQ-TFP@rGO exhibits a low potential drift of 1.2 ± 0.2 μV/h over 70 h due to the large capacitance of 2.0 mF. Moreover, the DAAQ-TFP@rGO-based Cd2+-ISE shows good reproducibility and the standard deviations of the standard potentials for single batch and batch-to-batch are 0.28 (n = 4) and 0.30 mV (n = 4), respectively. The developed SC-Cd2+-ISE is not disturbed by light or gas and no aqueous layer occurs between the sensing membrane and DAAQ-TFP@rGO layer. The DAAQ-TFP@rGO composite is highly promising for construction of calibration-free SC-ISEs.

Abstract
In this study, a 3D surface-folded composite was prepared in situ as a hydrazine sensor by loading a hybrid film of CoNi-layered double hydroxides (LDHs) with nitrogen-doped carbon dots on self-assembled ZnO microspheres. The nanocomposite was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and the electrochemical behavior of the sensors was investigated by cyclic voltammetry (CV), amperometry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The results showed that ZnO microspheres with nitrogen-doped carbon dots strongly coupled with LDHs can significantly reduce the charge transfer resistance, accelerate the oxidation kinetics of hydrazine, and effectively increase the electrochemically active surface area (ECSA). The sensor achieved ultra-sensitive (13 040 μA mM-1 cm-2 (S/N = 3)) detection of hydrazine in the concentration range of 0.7 μM to 4 mM, exhibited excellent selectivity, reproducibility and high stability, and was successfully applied to the determination of hydrazine in actual environmental water samples and landfill leachate samples.

Abstract
Improving the luminescence properties of covalent organic frameworks (COFs) has always been an important issue. Here, a series of COFs (([OMe]x -TzDa (TzDa is composed only by monomerics Tz and Da, OMe represents the incorporation of monomeric Dm)) with different ratios of OMe and OH were designed and synthesized. The photochemical behavior of [OMe]x -TzDa changed significantly due to the synergistic effect of aggregation induced emission (AIE), intramolecular charge transfer (ICT), and excited-state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) effects. [OMe]2 -TzDa, which contained a ratio of 2/1 of OMe/OH, showed the strongest fluorescence emission in water and the best linear relationship for the detection of pH. Furthermore, [OMe]2 -TzDa was used to monitor HCl and NH3 gases and showed a color change, visible to the naked eye. Therefore, a "confidential pigment" was successfully made. Moreover, [OMe]2 -TzDa was also applied to detect N2 H4 . The work indicates the [OMe]2 -TzDa can serve as the first fluorescence sensor to detect pH, HCl and NH3 gases, which also shows a good response to N2 H4 .

Abstract
Bisulfite and hydrazine are harmful to the environment safety and human health. Therefore, it is of great value to develop a smart fluorescent probe with high selectivity for detection of bisulfite and hydrazine. In our report, a dual-response fluorescent probe EDBI with high selectivity, rapid response, and low detection limit for discriminative determination HSO3- and N2H4 was exploited. The probe EDBI is capable of distinctive sensing HSO3- and N2H4 based on nucleophilic addition reactions by taking advantage of ratiometric fluorescence and fluorescence "on-off" mode, respectively. The dual-responses behaviors of probe EDBI toward HSO3- and N2H4 were attribute to different reaction sites, which it has been confirmed by HRMS. More importantly, cytotoxicity experiment authenticated that probe possesses low toxicity and good penetration. The probe EDBI with excellent performance, it was successfully employed to distinguishable sense HSO3- and N2H4 in living cells by diverse channel patterns. Therefore, this simple dual-response fluorescence probe is expected to be used for real-time monitoring bisulfite and hydrazine in biological samples.

Abstract
Detecting and analyzing of the trace organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) in the real water has become a big challenge. In this work, a novel functional electrospun nanofiber membrane (PAN@COFs) was synthesized through the in situ growth of covalent organic frameworks (COFs) on a polyacrylonitrile electrospun nanofiber membranes under room temperature and used in the solid-phase micro-extraction (SPME) to enrich trace organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) in water. The resulted PAN@COFs composite consisted of numerous nanofibers coated ample porous COFs spheres (~ 500 nm) and owned stable crystal structure, abundant functional groups, good stability. In addition, the enrichment experiments clearly revealed that PAN@COFs exhibited rather outstanding performance on adsorbing the trace OCPs (as low as 10 ng L-1) with the enrichment of 482-2686 times. Besides, PAN@COFs displayed good reusability and could be reused 100 times. Notably, in the real water samples (sea water and river water), the high enrichment factors and recovery rates strongly confirmed the feasibility of PAN@COFs for detecting the trace OCPs. Furthermore, due to the synergy of π-π stacking interaction and hydrophobic interaction between the OCPs molecules and PAN@COFs, the OCPs could be efficiently adsorbed on PAN@COFs, even under the extremely low driving force.

Abstract
The sensitivity and selectivity of electrochemical analysis are challenging due to the materials used for electrode modification as well as electrical conductivity, catalytic activity and recognition ability of the working electrode. In this work, a portable 3D-printed electrochemical electrode clamp was designed and applied in combination with the developed covalent organic framework (COF DQTP)-modified pencil graphite electrode (DQTP/PGE). The β-ketoenamine-linked COF DQTP synthesized by 1,3,5-triformylphloroglucinol (TP) and 2,6-diaminoanthraquinone (DQ) through solvothermal method is a porous crystalline with excellent conductivity and large periodic π-arrays, coupled with commercial available pencil graphite electrode to fabricate a disposable sensor for simultaneous determination of environmental endocrine disruptors bisphenol A and bisphenol S. The DQTP/PGE sensor exhibited high electrical conductivity and catalytic activity, and a good linearity was obtained in a range of 0.5-30 μM for two bisphenols with a detection limit of 0.15 μM (S/N = 3). Moreover, the sensor showed a reproducible and stable response over one month with negligible interference, and an accepted recovery with real food packaging samples.

Abstract
Today, one of the main leading global problems is the presence of different pollutants in the environment. These pollutants not only affect human health but also overshadow the life of other creatures. Thus, pollutant treatment has become a challenging issue among the researchers and the scientific community. Different adsorbents and catalysts have been applied to the removal of pollutants. However, the associated limitations like poor chemical and physical stability, low surface area and low binding capacity revived researchers' attention to exploring alternative materials. Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) are versatile materials created based on the strong covalent interactions between blocked monomers. Unique features, including high specific surface area, high chemical-physical stability and crystallinity render COFs an intriguing sorbent and catalyst in treating pollutants. This review spotlights the applications of COFs as distinguished adsorbents to remove hazardous pollutants from the environment. At first, COFs and their properties as alternative materials were introduced. Then, different synthesis approaches of COFs and their advantages and disadvantages were discussed. Furthermore, the applications of COFs outlined to remove a wide variety of pollutants based on adsorption and degradation. Finally, the prospects of COFs for the treatment of pollutants were evaluated.

Abstract
Covalent Organic Frameworks (COFs) are an exciting new class of microporous polymers with unprecedented properties in organic material chemistry. They are generally built from rigid, geometrically defined organic building blocks resulting in robust, covalently bonded crystalline networks that extend in two or three dimensions. By strategically combining monomers with specific structures and properties, synthesized COF materials can be fine-tuned and controlled at the atomic level, with unparalleled precision on intrapore chemical environment; moreover, the unusually high pore accessibility allows for easy post-synthetic pore wall modification after the COF is synthesized. Overall, COFs combine high, permanent porosity and surface area with high thermal and chemical stability, crystallinity and customizability, making them ideal candidates for a myriad of promising new solutions in a vast number of scientific fields, with widely varying applications such as gas adsorption and storage, pollutant removal, degradation and separation, advanced filtration, heterogeneous catalysis, chemical sensing, biomedical applications, energy storage and production and a vast array of optoelectronic solutions. This review attempts to give a brief insight on COF history, the overall strategies and techniques for rational COF synthesis and post-synthetic functionalization, as well as a glance at the exponentially growing field of COF research, summarizing their main properties and introducing the numerous technological and industrial state of the art applications, with noteworthy examples found in the literature.

Abstract
Heterostructures have potential to blend the advantages of each material, even exhibiting the evolutionary performance due to synergistic effects. Herein, covalent organic polymers (NUF) are integrated with a TiO2/Ti3C2Tx nanocomposite (TiO2/TiCT) to form TiO2/TiCT-NUF heterojunctions as an enlarged nonenzymatic biosensor for dopamine (DA) and uric acid (UA). Detection is performed by differential pulse voltammetry (DPV). The TiO2/TiCT/NUF exhibits high sensing activity with low detection limits of 0.2 and 0.18 nM (S/N = 3) in the concentration ranges from 0.002 to 100 μM and 0.001 to 60 μM for simultaneous determination of DA and UA, respectively. In addition, the TiO2/TiCT/NUF provides good selectivity and reproducibility for DA and UA detection in urine and serum samples with recoveries of 98.4 to 100.9%. The proposed heterojunctions manifest an intriguing potential as a candidate of an electrochemical sensor for sole and simultaneous detection of DA and UA.

Abstract
A dense zeolitic imidazolate framework (ZIF) nanosheet is for the first time molded by reduced graphite oxide (RGO) and graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) to fabricate an original 2D/2D/2D heterojunction (ZIF/g-C3N4/RGO nanohybrid), which is pipetted onto carbon cloth electrode (CCE) (ZIF/g-C3N4/RGO/CCE) as an electrochemical sensor. Profiting from the renowned synergistic and coupling effects, the resulting nanohybrid endows excellent electrocatalytic activity towards hydrazine. Amperometric detection reveals that the hybrid sensor possesses a low detection limit of 32 nM (S/N = 3) in a monitoring range of 0.0001 to 1.0386 mM, along with a high sensitivity 93.71 μA mM-1 cm-2. Importantly, the minimum detection concentration of hydrazine in the actual sample is lower than the maximum allowable limit of the World Health Organization (WHO) and has high reproducibility (RSD = 4.82%). As expected, the high sensing capability of ZIF/g-C3N4/RGO combines the advantages of abundant surface-active sites and high conductivity along with 2D interfaces between ZIF, g-C3N4, and RGO nanosheets. This study provides a promising to expand 2D-based ternary nanojunction as a bridge for promoting sensing performance.Graphical abstract.

Abstract
In this work, electro-enhanced solid-phase microextraction (EE-SPME) and covalent organic framework (COF) were adopted to improve the extraction efficiency. A conductive COF synthesized of 2,6-diaminoanthraquinone (DQ) and 1,3,5-triformylphloroglucinol (TP) was in situ bonded to the stainless steel wire via facile solution-phase approach and used as the EE-SPME fiber coating to preconcentrate a typical endocrine disruptor bisphenol A (BPA). Compared with conventional SPME, the DQTP bonded fiber coupled with EE-SPME device exhibited higher extraction efficiency and achieved extraction equilibrium within 10 min. The proposed approach based on EE-SPME and gas chromatography coupled with flame ionization detector gave a linear range of 0.05-10 μg mL-1 and detection limit of 3 μg L-1 (S/N = 3) with good precision (<6.7%) and reproducibility (<7.1%) spiked with 0.1, 0.5, 1.0 μg mL-1 BPA. Quantitative determination of BPA in extracts of food packagings (mineral water bottles, milk boxes and milk tea cups) was achieved with recoveries from 88.6 to 118.0%.

Abstract
Covalent organic frameworks are a class of extended crystalline organic materials that possess unique architectures with high surface areas and tuneable pore sizes. Since the first discovery of the topological frameworks in 2005, COFs have been applied as promising materials in diverse areas such as separation and purification, sensing or catalysis. Considering the need for renewable and clean energy production, many research efforts have recently focused on the application of porous materials for electrochemical energy storage and conversion. In this respect, considerable efforts have been devoted to the design and synthesis of COF-based materials for electrochemical applications, including electrodes and membranes for fuel cells, supercapacitors and batteries. This review article highlights the design principles and strategies for the synthesis of COFs with a special focus on their potential for electrochemical applications. Recently suggested hybrid COF materials or COFs with hierarchical porosity will be discussed, which can alleviate the most challenging drawback of COFs for these applications. Finally, the major challenges and future trends of COF materials in electrochemical applications are outlined.

Abstract
The metal-free cousins of metal-organic frameworks, covalent organic frameworks (COFs), are a class of pre-designable crystalline polymers composed of light elements and connected by strong covalent bonds. COFs are being given more and more attention in the electrochemical sensor field due to their fascinating properties, such as highly tunable porosity, intrinsic chemical and thermal stability, structural diversity, large specific surface area, and unique adsorption characteristics. However, there are still some key issues regarding COFs that need to be urgently resolved before they can be effectively applied in electrochemical sensing. In this review, we summarized recent achievements in developing novel electrochemical sensors based on COFs, and discussed the key fundamental and challenging issues that need to be addressed, including the mechanisms underlying charge transport, methods to improve electrical conductivity, immobilization methods on different substrates, synthesis strategies for nanoscale COFs, and the application of COFs in different fields. Finally, the challenges and outlooks in this promising field are tentatively proposed.

Abstract
An electrocatalytic sensor for hydrazine using copper sulfide-ordered mesoporous carbon (CuS-OMC) is described. A facile solvothermal synthetic strategy was adopted for CuS-OMC and the ordered mesoporous carbon was obtained through nanocasting method. The synthesized CuS-OMC was characterized using microscopic and spectrochemical techniques. CuS-OMC was immobilized on GCE and evaluated for its electrochemical sensing of hydrazine using cyclic voltammetry and amperometry. CuS-OMC modified GCE exhibited better hydrazine sensing at an optimized pH 7.4 in terms of oxidation potential and current compared with that of GCE, CuS, and OMC. The observed sensing performance of CuS-OMC was attributed to the presence of Cu (I/II) in CuS dispersed in OMC which acts as an electrocatalytic center for the sensing of hydrazine. Amperometry under optimized experimental condition with an applied potential of 270 mV was employed to obtain a linear calibration plot in the range 0.25 to 40 μM (R2 = 0.9908) with a detection limit of 0.10 μM with a sensitivity of 0.915 (± 0.02) μA cm-2 μM-1. Real sample analyses were carried out by spiking of hydrazine in different water samples and the recoveries were in the range of 97 ± 2.1% (n = 3). Graphical abstract.
