Abstract
Water pollution caused by antibiotics and synthetic dyes and imminent energy crises due to limited fossil fuel resources are issues of contemporary decades. Herein, we address them by enabling the multifunctionality in dual Z-scheme MoS2/WO3-x/AgBiS2 across photolysis, photo Fenton-like, and night catalysis. Defect, basal, and facet-engineered WO3-x is modified with MoS2 and AgBiS2, which extended its photoresponse from the UV-NIR region, inhibited carrier recombination, and reduced carrier transfer resistance. The electric field rearrangement leads to a flow of electrons from MoS2 and AgBiS2 to WO3-x and intensifies the electron population, which is crucial for night catalysis. When MoS2/WO3-x/AgBiS2 was employed against doxycycline hydrochloride (DOXH), it removed 95.65, 81.11, and 77.92 % of DOXH in 100 min during photo-Fenton (PFR), night-Fenton (NFR), and photocatalytic (PCR) reactions, respectively. It also effectively removed 91.91, 98.17, 99.01, and 98.99 % of rhodamine B (RhB), Congo red (CR), methylene blue (MB), and methylene orange (MO) in Fenton reactions, respectively. ESR analysis consolidates the ROS generation feature of MoS2/WO3-x/AgBiS2 using H2O2 with and without irradiation. This work provides a strategy to eliminate the deficiencies of WO3-x and is conducive to the evolution of applications seeking to combat environmental and energy crises.

Abstract
Iron (hydr)oxides are abundant in surface environment, and actively participate in the transformation of organic pollutants due to their large specific surface areas and redox activity. This work investigated the transformation of tetracycline (TC) in the presence of three common iron (hydr)oxides, hematite (Hem), goethite (Goe), and ferrihydrite (Fh), under simulated sunlight irradiation. These iron (hydr)oxides exhibited photoactivity and facilitated the transformation of TC with the initial phototransformation rates decreasing in the order of: Hem > Fh > Goe. The linear correlation between TC removal efficiency and the yield of HO• suggests that HO• dominated TC transformation. The HO• was produced by UV-induced decomposition of self-generated H2O2 and surface Fe2+-triggered photo-Fenton reaction. The experimental results indicate that the generation of HO• was controlled by H2O2, while surface Fe2+ was in excess. Sunlight-driven H2O2 production in the presence of the highly crystalline Hem and Goe occurred through a one-step two-electron reduction pathway, while the process was contributed by both O2-induced Fe2+ oxidation and direct reduction of O2 by electrons on the conduction band in the presence of the poorly crystalline Fh. These findings demonstrate that sunlight may significantly accelerate the degradation of organic pollutants in the presence of iron (hydr)oxides.

Abstract
Tetracycline (TC) antibiotics and dyes are the prevalent water contaminants, and their removal from the water through photocatalysis is a plausible approach. However, most semiconductors in their pristine form need to be improved to be exploited in photocatalysis owing to poor photoresponse, intense carrier recombination, and inertness without irradiation. Herein, we demonstrate the modification of defective WO3-x by rGO and AgBiS2 in the form of WO3-x/rGO/AgBiS2 (R2). It exploits the superior conductivity and synergism of rGO to inhibit carrier recombination; thereby, Z-scheme heterojunction with AgBiS2 provides high redox potential. Defects in WO3-x enable electron (e-) storage in R2, which decomposes H2O2 to generate ROS without irradiation. Owing to these essences and broad-spectrum response, it removed 93.72, 82.77, and 84.82% of TC during photo-Fenton (PFR), night-Fenton (NFR), and photocatalytic (PCR) reactions, respectively. Its removal rates reached 94.74, 81.54, and 87.50% against rhodamine B (RhB) during PFR, NFR, and PCR, respectively. It is superior to memory catalysis (MC) and conventional Fenton reactions (CFR) because it can perform without and with irradiation across a broader pH range. So, this work is conducive to designing WO3-x-based catalysts to combat environmental and energy crises.

Abstract
The singlet oxygen (1O2) oxidation process activated by metal-free catalysts has recently attracted considerable attention for organic pollutant degradation; however, the 1O2 formation remains controversial. Simultaneously, the catalytic activity of the metal-free catalyst limits the practical application. In this study, carbon nitride (HCCN) containing an intramolecular homojunction, a kind of metal-free catalyst, exhibits excellent activity compared to g-C3N4 (CN) and crystalline carbon nitride (HCN) for tetracycline hydrochloride degradation through the H2O2-based Fenton-like reaction. The rate constant for HCCN increased about 16.1 and 8.9 times than that of CN and HCN, respectively. The activity of HCCN was enhanced, and the dominant reactive oxygen species (ROS) changed from hydroxyl radicals (•OH) to 1O2 with an increase in pH from 4.5 to 11.5. A novel formation pathway of 1O2 was revealed. This result is different from the normal reference, in which •OH is always the primary ROS in the H2O2-based Fenton-like reaction. This study may provide a possible strategy for the investigation on the nonradical oxidation process in the Fenton-like reaction.

Abstract
In this study, we synthesized a high removal efficiency catalyst using biochar-supported nanoscale zero-valent iron and g-C3N4, denoted as g-C3N4/nZVI@SBC, to activate persulfate (PS) for the degradation of total petroleum hydrocarbon (TPH) in groundwater. We characterized the morphology and physiochemical properties of g-C3N4/nZVI@SBC with scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), BET surface area analysis, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). To assess the performance of the g-C3N4/nZVI@SBC catalyst, we investigated various reaction parameters, such as the mass ratio of g-C3N4 to nZVI@SBC, PS concentration, initial pH, initial TPH concentration, and the presence of coexisting ions in the system. The results from batch experiments and repeated use trials indicate that g-C3N4/nZVI@SBC exhibited both excellent catalytic activation capability and impressive durability, making it a promising choice for TPH degradation. Specifically, when the PS concentration reached 1 mM, the catalyst dosage was 0.3 g/L, and the g-C3N4 to nZVI@SBC mass ratio was 2, we achieved a remarkable TPH removal efficiency of 93.8%. Through electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) testing and quenching experiments, we identified sulfate radicals, hydroxyl radicals, and superoxide radicals as the primary active substance involved in the TPH degradation process. Moreover, the g-C3N4/nZVI@SBC composite proved highly effective for in-situ TPH removal from groundwater and displayed an 86% removal rate, making it a valuable candidate for applications in permeable reactive barriers (PRB) aimed at enhancing environmental remediation. In summary, by skillfully utilizing g-C3N4/nZVI@SBC, this study has made notable advancements in synthesis and characterization, presenting a feasible and innovative approach to addressing TPH pollution in groundwater.

Abstract
Four kinds of spinel NiAl2O4were synthesized by the polyacrylamide gel method using Al2(SO4)3·18H2O and Al(NO3)3·9H2O as aluminum salts and anhydrous NiSO4and NiSO4·6H2O as nickel salts. The effects of different aluminum salts and nickel salts on the structure, optical and photocatalytic activity of spinel NiAl2O4were confirmed by various characterizations. There is no NiO impurity in the spinel NiAl2O4synthesized with Al2(SO4)3·18H2O as aluminum salt, while NiAl2O4, NiO and C-O functional group coexist in the target product with Al(NO3)3·9H2O as aluminum salt, and C-O functional group and NiO inhibits the photocatalytic activity of the system. Based on photocatalytic experiment, response surface methodology and free radical verification experiment, the influence of experimental parameters including synthesis pathway, initial drug concentration, initialpHand catalyst content on the photocatalytic activity of spinel NiAl2O4and the main active species involved in the reaction were investigated. The degradation percentage of spinel NiAl2O4synthesized with Al2(SO4)3·18H2O as aluminum salt and NiSO4·6H2O as nickel salt was 86.3% at the initial concentration of 50 mg l-1,pH= 5.33 and catalyst content of 1 g l-1. The mechanism investigation confirmed that the C-O functional group plays the dual role of impurity level and electron transfer in the degradation of tetracycline hydrochloride by spinel NiAl2O4.

Abstract
This study addresses the formidable persistence of tetracycline (TC) in the environment and its adverse impact on soil, water, and microbial ecosystems. To combat this issue, an innovative approach by varying polythiophene ((C4H4S)n; n = 3, 5, 7, 9) units and the subsequent interaction with Ti-doped graphene/boron nitride (Ti@GP_BN) nanocomposites was applied as catalysts for investigating the molecular structure, adsorption, excitation analysis, and photodegradation mechanism of tetracycline within the framework of density functional theory (DFT) at the B3LYP-gd3bj/def2svp method. This study reveals a compelling correlation between the adsorption potential of the nanocomposites and their corresponding excitation behaviors, particularly notable in the fifth and seventh units of the polythiophene configuration. These units exhibit distinct excitation patterns, characterized by energy levels of 1.3406 and 924.81 nm wavelengths for the fifth unit and 1.3391 and 925.88 nm wavelengths for the seventh unit. Through exploring deeper, the examination of the exciton binding energy emerges as a pivotal factor, bolstering the outcomes derived from both UV-vis transition analysis and adsorption exploration. Notably, the calculated exciton binding energies of 0.120 and 0.103 eV for polythiophene units containing 5 and 7 segments, respectively, provide compelling confirmation of our findings. This convergence of data reinforces the integrity of our earlier analyses, enhancing our understanding of the intricate electronic and energetic interplay within these intricate systems. This study sheds light on the promising potential of the polythiophene/Ti-doped graphene/boron nitride nanocomposite as an efficient candidate for TC photodegradation, contributing to the advancement of sustainable environmental remediation strategies. This study was conducted theoretically; hence, experimental studies are needed to authenticate the use of the studied nanocomposites for degrading TC.

Abstract
Wastewater containing organic pollutants cause potential harm to the environment and human health. A series of zirconium-organic frameworks (UiO-66) and their composites were synthesized by solvothermal methods, including band gap adjustment, heterojunction construction, and metal ion doping. For the model pollutant tetracycline (TC), all of the prepared catalysts could achieve effective degradation of it. Therein, the degradation efficiency of tetracycline could reach 95% under the UV irradiation with the aid of the catalyst, in which the UiO-66-NDC was modified with P-C3N4. The free radical capture experiments demonstrated that the superoxide radical (•O2-) was the main oxidizing species for the photodegradation of tetracycline. Hence, the improvement strategy of the catalyst would provide some enlightenment for the development of more efficient photocatalysts for the degradation of organic dyes in wastewater.

Abstract
A series of Ti2O3@TiO2 core-shell heterojunction composite photocatalysts with different internal electric fields were synthesized using simple heat treatment methods. The synthesized Ti2O3@TiO2 core-shell heterojunction composites were characterized by means of SEM, XRD, PL, UV-Vis, BET, SPV, TEM and other related analytical techniques. Tetracycline (TC) was used as the degradation target to evaluate the photocatalytic performance of the synthesized Ti2O3@TiO2 core-shell heterojunction composites. The relevant test results show that the photocatalytic performance of the optimized materials has been significantly enhanced compared to Ti2O3, while the photocatalytic degradation rate has increased from 28% to 70.1%. After verification via several different testing and characterization techniques, the excellent catalytic performance is attributed to the efficient separation efficiency of the photogenerated charge carriers derived from the built-in electric field formed between Ti2O3 and TiO2. When the recombination of electrons and holes is occupied, more charges are generated to reach the surface of the photocatalyst, thereby improving the photocatalytic degradation efficiency. Thus, this work provides a universal strategy to enhance the photocatalytic performance of Ti2O3 by coupling it with TiO2 to build an internal electric field.

Abstract
Multiple oxidation states of first-row transition-metal cations were always doped in g-C3N4 to enhance the catalytic activity by the synergistic action between the cations in the Fenton-like reaction. It remains a challenge for the synergistic mechanism when the stable electronic centrifugation (3d10) of Zn2+ was used. In this work, Zn2+ was facilely introduced in Fe-doped g-C3N4 (named xFe/yZn-CN). Compared with Fe-CN, the rate constant of the tetracycline hydrochloride (TC) degradation increased from 0.0505 to 0.0662 min-1 for 4Fe/1Zn-CN. The catalytic performance was more outstanding than those of similar catalysts reported. The catalytic mechanism was proposed. With the introduction of Zn2+ in 4Fe/1Zn-CN, the atomic percent of Fe (Fe2+ and Fe3+) and the molar ratio of Fe2+ to Fe3+ at the catalyst's surface increased, where Fe2+ and Fe3+ were the active sites for adsorption and degradation. In addition, the band gap of 4Fe/1Zn-CN decreased, leading to enhanced electron transfer and conversion from Fe3+ to Fe2+. These changes resulted in the excellent catalytic performance of 4Fe/1Zn-CN. Radicals •OH, •O2-, and 1O2 formed in the reaction and took different actions under various pH values. 4Fe/1Zn-CN exhibited excellent stability after five cycles under the same conditions. These results may give a strategy for synthesizing Fenton-like catalysts.

Abstract
The efficient use of visible light is necessary to take advantage of photocatalytic processes in both indoor and outdoor circumstances. Precisely manipulating the in situ growth method of heterojunctions is an effective way to promote photogenerated charge separation. Herein, the SrFeO3@B-rGO catalyst was prepared by an in situ growth method. At a loading of 10 wt % B-rGO, the nanocomposites revealed an excellent morphology and thermal, optical, electrochemical, and mechanical properties. X-ray diffraction analysis revealed the cubic spinel structure and a space group of Pm̅3m for SrFeO3. High-resolution scanning electron microscopy and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy show the core-shell formation between SrFeO3 and B-rGO. Furthermore, density functional theory of SrFeO3 was performed to find its band structure and density of states. The SrFeO3@B-rGO nanocomposite shows the degradation rate of tetracycline (TC) reaching 92% in 75 min and the highest rate constant of 0.0211 min-1. To improve the catalytic removal rate of antibiotics, the efficiency of e- and h + separation must be improved, as well as the generation of additional radicals. Radical trapping tests and the electron paramagnetic resonance method indicated that the combination of Fe2+ and Fe3+ in SrFeO3 effectively separated e- and h+ while also promoting the development of the superoxide anion (•O2-) to accelerate TC degradation. The entire TC degradation pathway using high-performance liquid chromatography and its mechanism were discussed. As a whole, this study delineates that photocatalysis is a viable strategy for the treatment of environmental antibiotic wastewater.

Abstract
Simultaneously manipulating the nanostructure and band structure of semiconductors for boosting the photocatalytic performance of photocatalyts is highly desirable. Herein, a series of hierarchical sponge-like S-doped poly(heptazine imide) (HS-SPHI) assembled by ultrathin nanosheets were successfully fabricated via a facile bottom-up supramolecular preassembly approach using melamine (MA) and trithiocyanuric acid (TTCA) as precursors. Benefiting from the synergistic effect of the S-doping and their unique hierarchical porous structure coupled with quantum confinement effect, the as-obtained HS-SPHIs are endowed with extended visible-light response, improved charge separation efficiency, enlarged specific surface area, and enhanced thermodynamic driving force for water reduction. As a result, all the HS-SPHIs exhibit remarkable boosting visible-light (>420 nm) photocatalytic H2evolution (PHE). The maximum PHE rate achieved by HS-SPHI-650 can be up to 3584.2 μmol g-1h-1, with an apparent quantum efficiency (AQE) of 14.67 % at 420 nm, which is about 22.4 times than that of pristine bulk g-C3N4 (B-GCN). We believe that this work will provide a significant strategy for optimizing the band structure of PCN in order to improve its photocatalytic performance.

Abstract
This work reported on the development of CoFe2O4-BiVO4 photoanode based photoelectrocatalytic system collaborating with peroxymonosulfate activation for organic contaminants removal. CoFe2O4 layer not only provided active sites for direct peroxymonosulfate activation but also accelerated charge separation process for the enhancement of photocurrent density and photoelectrocatalytic performance. Junction of CoFe2O4 layer on BiVO4 photoanode led to the improvement of photocurrent density to 4.43 mA/cm2 at 1.23 VRHE, which was approximately 4.06 times higher than that of pure BiVO4. Subsequently, the corresponding optimal degradation efficiency toward the tetracycline model contaminant achieved to be 89.1% with total organic carbon removal value of about 43.7% within 60 min. Moreover, the degradation rate constant of CoFe2O4-BiVO4 photoanode in photoelectrocatalytic system was 0.037 min-1, which was about 1.23, 2.64 and 3.70 times higher than the values in photocatalysis, electrocatalysis and PMS only based systems, respectively. In addition, radical scavenging experiments and electron spin resonance spectra indicated a synergy of radical and nonradical coupling process where •OH and 1O2 played vital roles during tetracycline degradation. Plausible photoelectrocatalytic mechanism and degradation pathway were proposed. This work provided an effective strategy to construct peroxymonosulfate assisted photoelectrocatalytic system toward green environmental applications.

Abstract
In this work, a series of chitosan (CS)-grafted carbon oxynitride (OCN) nanoparticles (denoted as CS-OCN) were successfully synthesized for the first time by thermal polycondensation and subsequent esterification. The structure and photocatalytic performance of CS-OCN nanoparticles were investigated. The XPS spectra of CS-OCN-3 showed the presence of amino bonds. The optimal photocatalytic degradation efficiency of the synthesized CS-OCN-3 could reach 94.3% within 390 min, while the photocurrent response intensity was about 150% more than that of pure OCN. The improved photocatalytic performance may be mainly attributed to the enhanced photogenerated carrier's separation and transportation and stronger visible light response after CS grafting. In addition, the inhibition diameter of CS-OCN-3 reached 23 mm against E. coli within 24 h under visible light irradiation, exhibiting excellent photocatalytic bactericidal ability. The results of bacterial inhibition were supported by absorbance measurements (OD600) studies of E. coli. In a word, this work provided a rational design of an efficient novel metal-free photocatalyst to remove bacterial contamination and accelerate the degradation of organic dyes.

Abstract
Electrocatalytic oxidation (ECO) has attracted attention because of its high efficiency and environmental friendliness in water treatment. The preparation of anodes with high catalytic activity and long service lifetimes is a core part of electrocatalytic oxidation technology. Here, porous Ti/RuO2-IrO2@Pt, Ti/RuO2-TiO2@Pt, and Ti/Y2O3-RuO2-TiO2@Pt anodes were fabricated by means of modified micro-emulsion and vacuum impregnation methods with high porosity titanium plates as substrates. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images showed that RuO2-IrO2@Pt, RuO2-TiO2@Pt, and Y2O3-RuO2-TiO2@Pt nanoparticles were coated on the inner surface of the as-prepared anodes to form the active layer. Electrochemical analysis revealed that the high porosity substrate could result in a large electrochemically active area, and a long service life (60 h at 2 A cm-2 current density, 1 mol L-1 H2SO4 as the electrolyte, and 40 °C). The degradation experiments conducted on tetracycline hydrochloride (TC) showed that the porous Ti/Y2O3-RuO2-TiO2@Pt had the highest degradation efficiency for tetracycline, reaching 100% removal in 10 min with the lowest energy consumption of 167 kWh kg-1 TOC. The reaction was consistent with the pseudo-primary kinetics results with a k value of 0.5480 mol L-1 s-1, which was 16 times higher than that of the commercial Ti/RuO2-IrO2 electrode. The fluorospectrophotometry studies verified that the degradation and mineralization of tetracycline were mainly ascribed to the •OH generated in the electrocatalytic oxidation process. This study thus presents a series of alternative anodes for future industrial wastewater treatment.

Abstract
Propylparaben (PrP) has attracted extensive concerns due to its wide occurrence in wastewater and potential health risk. Herein, nitrogen vacancy engineered reticulate g-C3N4 (Nv-RCN) was successfully synthesized for the photodegradation of PrP. Nv-RCN exhibited larger specific surface area, greater light absorption ability, higher transfer and separation efficiency of charge carriers in comparison with bulk g-C3N4 (CN). According to the characterization results and DFT calculation, nitrogen vacancy could capture electrons and facilitate oxygen adsorption. The Nv-RCN exhibited an outstanding PrP removal efficiency of 94.3 %, and the corresponding apparent rate constant of Nv-RCN was 3.37 times higher than that of CN. High O2 concentration (8 mg/L) and low pH value (pH = 3) promoted PrP photodegradation based on Box-Behnken Design. The O2- was the major radical during PCOP of Nv-RCN, and could oxidize PrP by decarbonylation and dealkylation. This study provided new insights to the improvement of photodegradation performance of g-C3N4 for parabens removal and related environmental remediation.

Abstract
Environmental dissemination caused by widespread use of antibiotics has been regarded as a possible hazard to aquatic ecosystem and human health. The increasing misgivings make it imperative to develop a novel catalyst with remarkable visible-light-driven activity to remove antibiotics, especially for their simultaneous decontamination. Herein, C/BiOCl composites were successfully prepared by decorating BiOCl nanosheets on food wastes biochar (C) by a simple hydrolysis strategy. Not only the binary system of tetracycline antibiotics, but also the ternary mixture could be simultaneously photodegraded over 25% C/BiOCl within 15 min irradiation. The improved photocatalytic activities could be ascribed to the introduction of biochar, endowing increased surface area, enhanced separation of photo-generated charge carriers, and better light absorption. The as-prepared 25% C/BiOCl also demonstrated satisfactory stability and positive removal effect in actual water samples. The present work provides new insights into the development of biochar-based photocatalysts for simultaneous degradation of multiple antibiotics.

Abstract
Deep eutectic solvents (DES) consisting of EG-(ChCl: C2H6O2) and TU-(ChCl: CH4N2S) assisted synthesized BiOCl/BiVO4 heterostructured catalyst studied for electrochemical uric acid (UA) sensor and tetracycline photocatalytic degradation. The chemical composition of the BiOCl/BiVO4 catalyst was analyzed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). UV-vis spectroscopy reveals increased absorption of visible light till the near-infrared region, which results in a narrowing of band gap energy from 2.3 eV to 2.2 eV for BiOCl/BiVO4-TU. Morphology of catalyst analyzed using field-emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM) and Transmission electron microscope (TEM) technique. Time-Resolved photoluminescence (TRPL) confirms an increased lifetime of e-/h+ pair after heterostructure formation. The catalyst-modified glassy carbon electrode shows selectivity toward the detection of uric acid (UA). The limit of detection (LOD) is estimated to be 0.04688 μM for UA; also, interference and stability of catalyst were studied. Photocatalytic activity of the synthesized catalyst was investigated by degrading tetracycline (TC) antibiotic pollutants, and their intermediate product was analyzed by ion trap mass spectrometry (MS).

Abstract
Photocatalytic CO2 cycloaddition is a promising approach for CO2 value-added processes. However, the efficiency of plasmon-assisted CO2 cycloaddition still needs to be improved and the reaction mechanism is unclear. Herein, g-C3N4/Ag (ACN-Ag) hybrids exhibited superior activity of CO2 cycloaddition by coupling a semiconductor into the plasmonic system, in which the ACN grafting amino group by the formation of carbon vacancies can enhance CO2 chemisorption; meanwhile, photo-generated electrons from ACN transfer to Ag to form high-energy electrons, which can activate propylene oxide, accelerating the ring-opening step. Importantly, photo-generated electron injection from ACN to Ag and the interaction between Ag nanoparticles and ACN were confirmed by single-particle photoluminescence spectroscopy. The wavelength-dependent activity demonstrated that the plasmon excitation is crucial for the reaction. Moreover, in situ single-particle PL quenching caused by propylene oxide and in situ electron paramagnetic resonance verified the activation of propylene oxide by ACN-Ag. This work is conducive to an in-depth understanding of the mechanism of CO2 cycloaddition at the single-particle level and provides guidance for the organic synthesis.

Abstract
In this study, graphitic carbon nitride (CN) decorated with carbon quantum dot (CQD) and bismuth oxychlorobromide (BiOClxBr1-x) was fabricated by calcination and hydrothermal methods. The morphology characterization of the synthesized photocatalyst revealed that CQD and BiOClxBr1-x solid solution were deposited on the CN surface. CQD served as the electron reservoir, which could reduce the recombination of electron-hole pairs, thus improving the overall photocatalytic performance. The synergistic effect of 1 wt% CQDs and BiOCl0.75Br0.25 markedly improved the interfacial charge transfer efficiency and light-harvesting capacity of the composite. The degradation rate of tetracycline (TC) over CN/CQD/BiOCl0.75Br0.25 was 83.4 % after 30 min and favorable stability with near-initial capacity under visible light irradiation. Meanwhile, the reaction mechanism of the photocatalytic performance was demonstrated by the analysis of the surface adsorption sites, efficient utilization of visible light, and charge carrier transfer. The degradation by-products and potential degradation pathways were also analyzed using liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry. Finally, the toxicity estimation software tool (T.E.S.T) analysis indicated that the toxicity of most intermediates was lower than TC. This work provideed a strategy for fabricating visible light (VL) photocatalyst with excellent photocatalytic activity, furnishing a new insight for interface charge transfer.

Abstract
Carbon doped strategy has been recognized as an efficient strategy to enhance photo-Fenton degradation performance. However, the preparation of high efficiency C-doped photocatalyst has been a significant challenge. Herein, we synthesized magnetic carbon-doped ZnFe2O4 via a facile solvothermal-calcination route. The photo-Fenton activity of C-doped ZnFe2O4 under visible light (λ > 420 nm) was evaluated by degradation of tetracycline hydrochloride. C-doped sample, CZF-2 (0.5 g L-1) presented excellent removal performance for TC-HCl (20 mg L-1) in presence of H2O2 (10 mM) and could remove 90.8% of TC-HCl within 50 min. The C-doping modulates crystal defects and generates surface oxygen vacancies simultaneously, thus building a new C-doping level near valence band and a defect level under the conduction band. Meanwhile, surface oxygen vacancies bring photo-generated electrons and electrons generated from itself to surface to accelerate photo-Fenton reaction, and the holes are rapidly transferred to the surface to participate in the degradation of pollutants.

Abstract
A novel Z-scheme titania loaded on fibrous silica ceria (Ti-FSC) was triumphantly fabricated via hydrothermal followed by electrolysis method and evaluated for the visible-light degradation of ciprofloxacin (CIP). Noticeably, Ti-FSC exhibits as an efficient photocatalyst for CIP photodegradation with 95% as followed by titania loaded on fibrous silica (Ti-FS) (68%), Ti-CeO2 (35%), FSC (47%), FS (22%), and CeO2 (17%). The combination of the inherent merits of Ti loaded on FSC is able to realize the crucial role of Ce in harnessing the high dispersion of Ti, which could beneficial for improving the performance proven by XRD, FESEM, TEM and FTIR. Consequently, high dispersion of Ti on FSC has worthwhile towards the interaction of the Si-O-Ti, Ce-O-Ti, and Si-O-Ti, which could enhance the CIP photodegradation by providing more surface defects, narrowing the band gap, improving electron-hole separation and suppressing electron-hole recombination that revealed by XPS, UV-vis/DRS, Nyquist plots and PL studies, respectively. The scavenger study revealed that the controlling species in the system was hydroxyl radical and holes. A potential Z-scheme heterojunction mechanism for Ti-FSC was deduced from the band structure analysis. The possible photodegradation pathway was proposed based on GCMS analysis. Besides, the acceptable reusability, which exceeded 90% of degradation indicated the great application potential of Z-scheme Ti-FSC in wastewater treatment and others application.

Abstract
Employing perylene diimide supermolecule (PDI) as metal-free cocatalyst, a novel PDI/g-C3N4/Bi2WO6 (PCB) photocatalyst was constructed for the effective degradation of antibiotics. Both the photocatalytic activity and photostability of g-C3N4/Bi2WO6 (gCB) were further improved after loading PDI. Under simulated sunlight illumination, the apparent rate constant of tetracycline (TC) degradation by PCB reached 2.6 times that of gCB. The photocatalytic activity of PCB still kept over 80% after 4 cycle experiments, while gCB only remained around 21%. The superior activity of PCB was ascribed to the synergism between the extended visible light absorption range through the participation of PDI cocatalyst and facilitated gCB-to-PDI photoelectron transfer. TC would finally be transformed into non-toxic ring opening products and mineralized. This work demonstrated that PDI was an excellent metal-free cocatalyst and exhibited great potential to boost the activity of photocatalysts.

Abstract
Antibiotic drugs have become dominating organic pollutants in water resources, and efficient removal of antibiotic drugs is the priority task to protect the water environment. Cu3P/SnO2 photocatalysts of various Cu3P loadings (10-40 wt% Cu3P) were synthesized using a combination of hydrothermal synthesis and a partial annealing method. Their photocatalytic activity was tested for tetracycline hydrochloride (TC-HCl) degradation under visible light irradiation. Cu3P/SnO2 samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), N2-adsorption, ultraviolet-visible diffuse reflectance spectra (UV-vis DRS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The results showed that the p-n type heterostructure between Cu3P and SnO2 was successfully constructed, and addition of Cu3P to SnO2 could improve its photocatalytic activity at an optimized loading of 30 wt% Cu3P. In photocatalytic degradation studies, removal rates of around 80% were found in 30 minutes of dark reaction and 140 min of photodegradation. The removal rate was superior to that of Cu3P and SnO2 alone under the same experimental conditions. According to trapping experiments and electron spin resonance (ESR) measurements, photogenerated holes (h+) and superoxide radicals ˙O2 - were considered as the main oxidation species in the present system. Finally, the reuse experiments showed high stability of Cu3P/SnO2. This study reports Cu3P as a cocatalyst combined with semiconductor SnO2 to form a highly efficient heterogeneous photocatalyst for the degradation of tetracycline hydrochloride for the first time.

Abstract
Two-dimensional graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4, GCN) is considered as one of the promising visible light-responsive photocatalysts for energy storage and environmental remediation. However, the photocatalytic performance of pristine GCN is restricted by the inherent shortcomings of rapid charge carrier recombination and limited absorption of visible light. Vacancy engineering is widely accepted as the auspicious approach for boosting the photocatalytic activity of GCN-based photocatalysts. Herein, a magnesium thermal calcination method has been developed to reconstruct GCN, in which magnesium serves as a carbon etcher for introducing carbon vacancies and pores into GCN (Vc-GCN). The fabricated Vc-GCN demonstrates excellent photocatalytic performances of degrading hazardous 4-chlorophenol under visible light irradiation benefiting from the improved carrier separating and light absorption ability as well as rich reactive sites. The optimal Vc-GCN sample delivers 2.3-fold enhancement from the pristine GCN. The work provides a tactic to prepare GCN photocatalysts with controllable carbon vacancies and for a candidate for the degradation of organic pollutants from the environment.
