Abstract
Cosmetics, textiles, foodstuffs, and medicines frequently contain the yellow dye tartrazine. It has carcinogenic properties and can trigger allergies. In this study, a unique NH2-MIL-101(Cr)/chitosan composite (MIL/chitosan composite) was created using a hydrothermal process. The effectiveness of this composite in removing Tartrazine (TZ) from aqueous solutions was investigated. It was characterized via FT-IR, XPS, XRD, and BET analysis. The surface area of the MIL/chitosan nanoadsorbent sample was 1256.64 m2/g, where after five times recycling, it was reduced to 1068.14 m2/g. The study analyzed the impact of dye concentration, pH, temperature, and MIL/chitosan composite dosage. Experimental measurements were taken for the equilibrium isotherms of dye adsorption. The kinetic models and adsorption isotherm were used to analyze the results. The adsorption process was found to match Langmuir and pseudo-second-order kinetic models. Chemisorption was the mechanism of the adsorption process. Based on thermodynamic parameters, it was determined that the adsorption process was endothermic. The MIL/chitosan composite was recycled up to five cycles. Using the MIL/chitosan composite towards the adsorption of the tartrazine from the real sample has been checked. The interaction process between the MIL/chitosan nanoadsorbent and Tartrazine adsorbate has been investigated. The TZ electrical characteristics, reactivity, and shape were ascertained through the application of density functional theory (DFT). The placement of electrophilic and nucleophilic attack sites is in good agreement with the molecular orbitals (HOMO and LUMO) and MEP results, according to DFT. The optimization of adsorption results was accomplished using Box-Behnken design (BBD).

Biosynthesis of CoCr 2O 4/ZnO nanocomposites using Basella alba L. leaves extracts with enhanced photocatalytic degradation of malachite green in aqueous media. CHEMOSPHERE 2024; 352:141215. Abstract
The use of chemical materials to tackle environmental concerns has undergone significant evolution, particularly in the pursuit of strategies for removing pollutants from wastewater as part of environmental remediation an increasingly crucial research topic. Employing green photocatalysts stands out as an efficient and cost-effective approach, playing a key role in promoting sustainable environmental remediation. This study introduces the modification of zinc oxide with cobalt chromite (CoCr2O4/ZnO) through a green synthesis method employing Basella alba L. leaves extract (BALE). Utilizing various characterization techniques, including FT-IR, UV-Vis DRS, XRD, SEM-EDS, and TEM, key features of ZnO, CoCr2O4, and CoCr2O4/ZnO nanocomposites were identified. The optical band gaps for ZnO, CoCr2O4, and CoCr2O4/ZnO nanocomposites were determined as 3.16, 1.71, and 2.80 eV, respectively, where it was shown that the band gap of the ZnO was reduced significantly. CoCr2O4/ZnO nanocomposites displayed a cubic shape of CoCr2O4 on the surface of ZnO, with a particle size of 23.84 ± 8.08 nm. The photocatalytic activity was assessed through the degradation of malachite green under visible light irradiation, where the CoCr2O4/ZnO nanocomposites exhibited superior photodegradation efficiency at 90.91%, surpassing ZnO alone (57.09%). This improvement in photocatalytic activity is attributed to a reduced band gap energy and a high rate constant value of 9.57 × 10-3 min-1, demonstrating pseudo-first-order reaction kinetics. In summary, this research presents the development of a ZnO-based photocatalyst with exceptional performance, especially in the visible light spectrum, making it a promising candidate for applications in wastewater removal.

Abstract
One of the materials that has recently been used to remove environmental pollution from industrial effluents with photocatalytic technology is cobalt chromate (CoCr2O4) nanoparticles. An effective way to improve the photocatalytic properties of materials is to composite them with other photocatalysts to prevent recombination of electron-holes and accelerate the transfer of oxidation/reduction agents. Graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) is an excellent choice due to its unique properties. In this research, CoCr2O4 and its composite with g-C3N4 (5, 10, and 15%) were synthesized by polyacrylamide gel method and characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, FTIR, UV-Vis spectroscopy techniques. The photocatalytic behavior of synthesized nanoparticles was investigated in the degradation process of methylene blue dye. The results showed that the composite samples have higher efficiency in photocatalytic activity than the pure CoCr2O4 sample. Using CoCr2O4-15 wt%g-C3N4 nanocomposite, after 80 min, methylene blue was completely degraded. The mechanism of degradation by CoCr2O4-g-C3N4 nanocomposite was the superoxide radical produced by the reaction of electrons with oxygen absorbed on the catalyst surface, as well as optically produced holes directly.
