Abstract
Background Persistent HR-HPV causes cervical cancer, exhibiting geographic variance. Europe/Americas have higher HPV16/18 rates, while Asia/Africa predominantly have non-16/18 HR-HPV. This study in Fujian, Asia, explores non-16/18 HR-HPV infections, assessing their epidemiology and cervical lesion association for targeted prevention. Methods A total of 101,621 women undergoing HPV screening at a hospital in Fujian Province from 2013 to 2019 were included. HPV genotyping was performed. A subset of 11,666 HPV-positive women with available histopathology results were analyzed to characterize HPV genotype distribution across cervical diagnoses. Results In 101,621 samples, 24.5% tested positive for HPV. Among these samples, 17.3% exhibited single infections, while 7.2% showed evidence of multiple infections. The predominant non-16/18 high-risk HPV types identified were HPV 52, 58, 53, 51, and 81. Single HPV infections accounted for 64.1% of all HPV-positive cases, with 71.4% of these being non-16/18 high-risk HPV infections. Age-related variations were observed in 11,666 HPV-positive patients with pathological results. Cancer patients were older. In the cancer group, HPV52 (21.8%) and HPV58 (18.6%) were the predominant types, followed by HPV33, HPV31, and HPV53. Compared to single HPV16/18 infection, non-16/18 HPV predominated in LSIL. Adjusted odds ratios (OR) for LSIL were elevated: multiple HPV16/18 (OR 2.18), multiple non-16/18 HR-HPV (OR 2.53), and multiple LR-HPV (OR 2.38). Notably, solitary HPV16/18 conferred higher odds for HSIL and cancer. Conclusion Our large-scale analysis in Fujian Province highlights HPV 52, 58, 53, 51, and 81 as predominant non-16/18 HR-HPV types. Multiple HPV poses increased LSIL risks, while solitary HPV16/18 elevates HSIL and cancer odds. These findings stress tailored cervical cancer prevention, highlighting specific HPV impacts on lesion severity and guiding region-specific strategies for optimal screening in Asia, emphasizing ongoing surveillance in the vaccination era.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Multiple human papillomavirus (HPV)-associated diseases have put a significant disease burden on the world. Therefore, we conducted a study to explore the epidemiological characteristics of HPV and the transmissibility of its genotypes. METHODS HPV testing data was collected from Hospital. A transmission dynamics model of HPV was constructed to simulate and compare the transmissibility of different HPV genotypes, which was quantitatively described by the basic reproduction number (R0). RESULTS The collected HPV subjects were mainly from Xiamen City, Zhangzhou City and Quanzhou City, together, they are known as the Hokkien golden triangle. There were variations in the distribution of HPV infections by age groups. Among all HPV genotypes, 13 of them had R0 > 1, with 10 of them being high-risk types. The top five were HPV56, 18, 58, 52 and 53, among which, HPV56, 18, 58 and 42 were of high risk, whereas HPV53 was not, and the R0 values for the five were 3.35 (CI: 0.00-9.99), 3.20 (CI: 0.00-6.46), 3.19 (CI: 1.27-6.94), 3.19 (CI: 1.01-8.42) and 2.99 (CI: 0.00-9.39), respectively. In addition, HPV52 had R0 > 1 for about 51 months, which had the longest duration. CONCLUSION Most high-risk HPV types in the Hokkien golden triangle could transmit among the population. Therefore, there is a need of further optimization for developing HPV vaccines and better detection methods in the region.

Abstract
Background HPV vaccine can block the infection of high-risk human papillomavirus and is an important measure to effectively reduce the incidence of cervical cancer and precancerous lesions. However, the HPV vaccination rate is still low in China. There are many factors. Therefore, it is important to study the influencing factors to provide basis for promoting the formulation of vaccination strategies. Methods This study used a multi-stage sampling method to conduct a face-to-face questionnaire survey on women in different regions of China. The new general self-efficacy scale was used to measure the self-efficacy of the respondents. The short form of family health scale measured their family health. The t-test and binary Logistic regression analysis were used to screen the influencing factors of HPV vaccination. Restricted cubic spline model was used to analyze the influence trend of self-efficacy and family health on HPV vaccination rate. Results (1) The HPV vaccination rate was low, especially in the ≤18 group. The place of residence, capita household income/month, individual self-efficacy and family health had a significant impact on HPV vaccination. (2) The restricted cubic spline model showed that self-efficacy positively promoted HPV vaccination, the correlation strength was statistically significant (χ2 =27.64, P<0.001) and non-linear (χ2 = 12.49, P = 0.0004); The poor family health hindered HPV vaccination, and the association strength was statistically significant (χ2 = 47.81, P < 0.001) and non-linear (χ2 = 9.96, P = 0.0016). Conclusion It is necessary to strengthen the health education of HPV vaccination knowledge in the population to eliminate the hesitancy of vaccination. Free HPV vaccination strategies should be developed and encourage people of appropriate age to receive as early as possible. Self-efficacy and family health should be enhanced to increase HPV vaccination rate, so as to achieve the goal of reducing the incidence of cervical cancer and protecting women's health.

Abstract
Introduction Atrophy of the reproductive tract mucosa caused by the decrease of estrogen may increase the detection rate of ASC-US in cervical cytology of post-menopausal women. In addition, other pathogenic infections and inflammation can change the cellular morphology and increase the detection rate of ASC-US. However, further studies are needed to elucidate whether the high detection rate of ASC-US in post-menopausal women leads to the high referral rate of colposcopy. Methods This retrospective study was conducted to document ASC-US in cervical cytology reports at the Department of Cytology at Gynecology and Obstetrics, Tianjin Medical University General Hospital between January 2006 and February 2021. We then analyzed 2,462 reports of women with ASC-US at the Cervical Lesions Department. A total of 499 patients with ASC-US and 151 cytology with NILM participants underwent vaginal microecology tests. Results The average reporting rate of ASC-US in cytology was 5.7%. The detection rate of ASC-US in women aged > 50 years (7.0%) was significantly higher than that in women aged ≤50 years (5.0%) (P<0.05). The CIN2+ detection rate was significantly lower in the post- (12.6%) than in pre-menopausal (20.5%) patients with ASC-US (P <0.05). The prevalence of abnormal reporting rate of vaginal microecology was significantly lower in the pre-menopausal group (56.2%) than that in the post-menopausal group (82.9%) (P<0.05). The prevalence of bacterial vaginosis (BV) (19.60%) was relatively high in the pre-menopausal group, but the abundance of bacteria-inhibiting flora (40.79%) was mainly an abnormality in the post-menopausal group. The vaginal microecological abnormality rate of the women with HR-HPV (-) of ASC-US was 66.22%, which was significantly higher than that of the HR-HPV (-) and the NILM group (52.32%; P<0.05). Discussion The detection rate of ASC-US in women aged > 50 years was higher than that ≤50 years, but the detection rate of CIN2+ was lower in the post-menopausal women with ASC-US. However, vaginal microecological abnormalities may increase the false-positive diagnosis rate of ASC-US. The vaginal microecological abnormalities of the menopausal women with ASC-US are mainly attributed to infectious diseases such as BV, and it mainly occurs in the post-menopausal women was bacteria-inhibiting flora. Therefore, to avoid the high referral rate for colposcopy, more attention should be paid to the detection of vaginal microecology.

Abstract
Background Human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination is a form of primary prevention for cervical cancer. The HPV vaccination rate of female university students is not high in Korea and China. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to identify and compare the factors associated with intention to receive HPV vaccination between Korean and Chinese female university students. Methods The participants were 273 Korean and 317 Chinese female university students who had not been vaccinated for HPV, and data were collected using a self-reported questionnaire about attitudes toward HPV vaccination, HPV knowledge, perceptions of HPV infection, and intention to receive HPV vaccine. Results There were no significant differences between the Korean and Chinese female university students in HPV knowledge, attitudes, perceptions, and vaccination intention. The factors influencing the intention of HPV vaccination in Korean students were a positive attitude toward the HPV vaccine and a high HPV knowledge score. For Chinese students, sexual experience, awareness of genital warts, a positive attitude toward the HPV vaccine, a high HPV knowledge scores, a perception of the seriousness of HPV infection, and negative emotions regarding HPV infection were significant factors. Conclusions It is important to improve attitudes and knowledge about HPV and the HPV vaccine in order to enhance HPV vaccination both in Korea and China. Perceived seriousness and negative emotions regarding HPV infection should be used as a framework to develop subject-tailored interventions in China.

Abstract
This study aimed to investigate nursing students' perspectives regarding the role of nurses as HPV vaccine advocates and their perception of barriers to advocacy. A cross-sectional study using a Web-based survey was sent out to all undergraduate nursing students enrolled at the Fujian Medical University, Fuzhou, China. A total of 1,041 students responded to the survey. In total, 58.0% of students expressed an intent to advocate HPV vaccines as a counselor and 56.4% as an HPV information provider in their future practice. However, 33.4% stated that they do not intend to be HPV vaccine advocates. Grade 1 students, students from homes with higher annual household incomes and those with a higher level of knowledge about HPV and HPV vaccination expressed higher intentions to advocate for HPV vaccines as a counselor. Students who have a higher level of knowledge about HPV and HPV vaccination and have received HPV vaccines reported a higher advocacy intent in the provision of HPV information. The main perceived barriers in HPV vaccine advocacy include inadequate training (87.1%) and insufficient HPV-related knowledge (84.8%); also, anxious patients may not feel comfortable with nurses discussing HPV vaccination (52.8%). Nurses are uniquely positioned to nurture patient HPV vaccine acceptance and maybe the key strategy to increase HPV vaccination coverage in China. Institutional support is needed to train nurses as HPV vaccine advocates and should focus on enhancing HPV-related knowledge while destigmatising the embarrassment around discussing HPV-related issues with patients.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Little is known about human papillomavirus (HPV) information sources and communication among Chinese students attending U.S. colleges. We assessed information sources and communication about HPV and HPV vaccines among this population. METHODOLOGY A cross-sectional design with 449 participants was conducted by using a questionnaire and snowball sampling. Summary statistics and multiple logistic regression were used. RESULTS The most common sources of HPV information included the internet and friends. Communication about HPV occurred most frequently among friends, family, and health professionals. Those who had better HPV knowledge and attitudes and were vaccinated against HPV were more likely to use internet, friends, family, and health professionals as their information sources. DISCUSSION Because the internet, friends, and families are likely sources for HPV information and communication, future internet-based culturally appropriate education should offer information not only to Chinese students but also to their social circles. Cultural beliefs may affect HPV prevention and should be examined.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection can cause cervical and other cancers, including vulva, vagina, penis, anus, or oropharynx. However, in China's northern Henan Province, data on the prevalence and genotype distribution of HPV among women attending gynecology clinics is limited. This study aimed to investigate the current prevalence and genotype distribution of HPV among women attending gynecology clinics in northern Henan Province. METHODS This study included 15,616 women aged 16-81 years old who visited the Xinxiang central hospital's gynecology department between January 2018 and December 2019. HPV DNA was detected by a conventional PCR method followed by HPV type-specific hybridization, which was designed to detect 17 high-risk HPV (HR-HPV) genotypes and 20 low-risk HPV (LR-HPV) genotypes. HPV prevalence and corresponding 95% confidence intervals (95% CI) were calculated using SPSS 18.0. RESULTS The overall HPV prevalence was 19.7% among women in northern Henan Province. Single, double, and multiple HPV infections accounted for 13.7%, 4.3%, and 1.8% of the total cases. Most infections were caused by HR-HPV (71.8%), and single genotype HPV infection (13.7%) was the most common pattern. The most common HR-HPV genotype was HPV16 (4.3%), followed by HPV52 (3.5%) and HPV58 (2.0%). The most common LR-HPV genotype was HPV6 (1.4%), followed by HPV61 (1.1%) and HPV81 (1.1%). CONCLUSIONS HPV infection is high among women attending gynecology clinics in northern Henan Province. The highest prevalence was found in women less than 20 years old. In northern Henan Province, the 9-valent HPV vaccine is strongly recommended for regular immunization.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This study aimed to assess the awareness and attitudes toward human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination among female college freshmen and explore their willingness and associated factors to receive the HPV vaccine based on the information-motivation-behavior skills (IMB) model. METHODS From February 21 to April 30, 2020, a cross-sectional survey was conducted among female freshmen in seven colleges in mainland China. Socio-demographic characteristics, health-related awareness, knowledge of HPV, motivation, and behavioral skills toward HPV vaccination were assessed using questionnaires. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed to identify the influencing factors of willingness to receive the HPV vaccine in the next 6 months. RESULTS Among the 3867 students invited to participate in this study, 102 (2.64%) reported having taken the HPV vaccine. Among the unvaccinated participants, 59.89% had previously heard of HPV, and 32.08% were willing to take the HPV vaccine in the next 6 months. Willingness to get the HPV vaccine was associated with sexual experience(s) (AOR = 1.96, 95% CI: 1.25-3.08), family or friends with cancer (AOR = 1.24, 95% CI: 1.04-1.48), having heard of HPV (AOR = 1.23, 95% CI: 1.03-1.47), and having actively searched for or having consulted on issues concerning HPV vaccine (AOR = 1.22, 95% CI: 1.02-1.45). In the dimensions of the IMB model, "perceived susceptibility" (AOR = 1.20, 95% CI: 1.09-1.31), "perceived severity" (AOR = 1.24, 95% CI: 1.11-1.39), "subjective norms" (AOR = 2.09, 95% CI: 1.75-2.49), and "self-efficacy" (AOR: 2.95, 95% CI: 2.44-3.58) were positively associated with HPV vaccination acceptance, while "perceived barriers" (AOR = .60, 95% CI: .52-.69) negatively affected intention to get HPV vaccination. CONCLUSION HPV vaccination rates and willingness to receive the HPV vaccine in the next 6 months were found to be poor among female college freshmen in mainland China. Having a positive attitude toward HPV vaccination, creating vaccine-friendly social norms, and removing related barriers are important measures to promote HPV immunization.

Abstract
Introduction: HPV vaccines were administered in mainland China from July 2017 at a gradual rate. We aimed to assess the vaccination rate and vaccination influencing factors among college students in mainland China.Methods: From October to December 2018, we conducted face-to-face questionnaires including 5 sections and 22 questions to collect demographic information, HPV infection and transmission knowledge, HPV vaccine knowledge and attitudes among college students in Guangzhou, China. HPV vaccine vaccination status and cervical screening behaviors were self-reported. Knowledge and attitudes differences between the vaccinate and non-vaccinate groups were analyzed using univariable logistic regression. Vaccination-related influencing factors were estimated using multivariable logistic regression.Results: 5307 of 5414 valid questionnaires were collected. The self-reported cervical screening rate and HPV vaccine coverage were 11.82% (9.03%-14.61%) and 3.09% (2.62%-3.56%). In total, 55.57% of the participants were hesitant about vaccination. Urban residence (OR = 2.1, 95%CI: 1.4-3.3), high monthly consumption (OR = 2.6, 95%CI: 1.9-3.6), awareness of vaccination adaptive population (OR = 3.1, 95%CI: 1.9-5.0), awareness of infection-related risk factors (OR = 2.5, 95%CI: 1.1-5.7), and awareness of HPV vaccine effectiveness (OR = 3.2, 95%CI: 2.0-5.2) were significant in multivariable logistic regression.Conclusion: HPV vaccine coverage is quite low among college students in China Guangzhou. Economic affordability, awareness of HPV infection, and belief in the effectiveness of HPV vaccine are influencing factors for vaccination. In the future, establishing a national financial subsidy and strengthening health education is needed to increase the vaccination rate in China.

Abstract
Objective To investigate the epidemiological characteristics of high-risk human papillomavirus(HR-HPV) infection based on vaginal self-collected samples. Study Design and Setting The pooled data of 3045 self-collected samples used for the analysis derived from four previous studies on cervical cancer screening(The Chinese Multi-Center Screening Trial, CHIMUST; The Shenzhen Cervical Cancer Screening Trial-2, SHENCCAST-2; The Chinese Cervical Cancer Prevention Study, CHIPCAPS; Pingshan trial, PINGSHAN)conducted across China by our team since 2011. These cases were evaluated for HR-HPV type prevalence relative to lesion grade and age. The occurrence of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia(CIN) with specific HPV types and the influence of co-infection is explored. Results The top three most common genotypes among the HR-HPV positives were HPV-52(23.4%), HPV-16(18.0%), and HPV-58(15.50%). For women with CIN2+, the most frequent genotypes were HPV-16, 58, 52, and 18 in sequence. HPV-16 accounted for the majority of CIN2/CIN3/Ca with attribution rate of 23.86%, 44.78% and 50.00% respectively. HPV-58 accounted for 19.48%, 16.79% and 13.46% respectively. CIN2+ was found in the following types most frequently: HPV-16(31.23%), HPV-33(24.03%), HPV-58(18.41%), HPV-31(11.76%), HPV-18(7.75%), and HPV-52(7.30%). HPV-16 showed preference for co-infection with HPV-52 and HPV-58. Conclusion The prevalence of HR-HPV infection based on self-sampling among women in China exhibited some unique epidemiologic features.

Abstract
Background Diarrhea remains the leading cause of childhood illness in China. Better understanding of burden and etiology of diarrheal diseases is important for development of effective prevention measures. Methods Population-based diarrhea surveillance was conducted in Sanjiang (southern China) year-round and Zhengding (northern China) in autumn/winter. Stool specimens were collected from children < 5 years of age experiencing diarrhea. The TaqMan Array Card (TAC), based on multiplex real-time PCR, was applied to detect multiple enteric microbial agents simultaneously. Results using these methods were compared to those derived from conventional PCR assays. Results During the study period, 6,380 children in Zhengding and 3,581 children in Sanjiang < 5 years of age participated. Three hundred and forty (31.2%) and 279 (22.9%) diarrhea episodes were identified as moderate-to-severe in the two counties, with incidence of 60.4 and 88.3 cases per 1,000 child-years in Zhengding and Sanjiang, respectively. The five most frequently detected bacterial and viral agents in Sanjiang were adenovirus, enterovirus, enteroaggregative Escherichia coli (EAEC), rotavirus, and sapovirus all the year round, while the most common viral agents in Zhengding were rotavirus, followed by astrovirus and adenovirus during the cool season. Compared to conventional PCR assay, the average incremental detection via the TAC method was twofold. Conclusion Our study demonstrated high diversity and prevalence of multiple major bacterial and viral agents, including rotavirus and calicivirus, among children in China. Further studies are needed to define the public health significance of neglected but frequently detected pathogens such as EAEC, enterotoxigenic E. coli, Campylobacter, adenovirus, and enterovirus. Currently bacterial and viral agents in the gastrointestinal tract are under-detected and poorly defined in developing countries. A new sensitive TAC assay provided comprehensive identification of microorganisms, including neglected pathogens, in Chinese children with moderate and severe diarrhea.

Abstract
We aimed to study the infection status and distribution of human papillomavirus (HPV) in Yangzhou City to provide precise guidance for the prevention and treatment of cervical cancer in this area. Reproductive tract secretions were collected from patients admitted at Subei People's Hospital over the past 3 years. Fifteen high-risk HPV (HR-HPV) genotypes were analyzed by fluorescent polymerase chain reaction. The positive rate of HR-HPV in 34 420 subjects was 23.56%. There was no significant difference in the rate of overall infection between males and females (χ 2 = 0.04; p = 0.952 > 0.05). The five genotypes with high infection rates in the population were HPV52, HPV58, HPV16, HPV51, and HPV39. Single infection was found to be dominant, primarily with the HPV52 genotype. The infection rate was higher in patients less than 20 years old and more than 60 years old. Most patients with cervical intraepithelial neoplasms 2/3 and cervical cancer were infected by HPV16, followed by those infected by HPV52 and HPV58. There was a significant difference in the infection rate of HPV16 among patients with different cervical lesions (χ 2 = 31.660; p < 0.01), and the infection rate of HPV16 was higher in patients with cervical cancer than in healthy individuals. Single infection was dominant among the study patients with HPV infection in Yangzhou city. There was no significant difference in infection rate and genotype distribution between males and females. The infection rate in young and old women was higher, and the rate increased with age (>20 years).

Abstract
Objective: In this prospective, population-based study, we evaluated the utility of high-risk human papillomavirus (HR-HPV) genotyping for triaging women with atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance (ASC-US) in the Chinese rural area. Methods: A total of 40,000 women were recruited from rural areas of Shanxi Province, China, between June 2014 and December 2014. Women with Pap results of ASC-US underwent HPV genotyping, colposcopy and histopathological examination. For those with normal cervixes or cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) 1 on the initial evaluation, a 2-year follow-up study was performed. Results: The reporting rate of ASC-US was 5.76% (2,304/40,000) in the study population. The detection rates of CIN 2 or above (CIN2+) and CIN 3 or above (CIN3+) in women with ASC-US were 7.28% and 1.75%, respectively. HPV 16 (39.53%), HPV 58 (17.83%), and HPV 52 (15.50%) were the three most prevalent HR-HPV genotypes among all women with ASC-US cytology. The five most common HR-HPV genotypes in CIN3+ lesions were HPV16, HPV58, HPV33, HPV31 and HPV18. Compared with the 15 HR-HPV testing, genotyping for a combination of HPV16/18/31/33/58 increased specificity significantly with virtually no loss of sensitivity for detecting CIN2+ and CIN3+ lesions, as well as significantly reduced colposcopy referral rate (23.15% vs 33.70%, p<0.01). In addition, in the 2-year follow-up period, women with infection of HPV16, 18, 31, 33 or 58 genotypes were the most likely population (92%, 23/25) to develop CIN2 lesion. Conclusion: Our results demonstrate that genotyping for a combination of HPV16/18/31/33/58 provides a more efficient and cost-effective model to risk-stratify women with ASC-US in the Chinese rural population.

Abstract
Objective The aim of the study was to understand the experience of negative emotions and coping styles of patients with cervical cancer during the rehabilitation period. Methods A descriptive qualitative research method was used. Purposive sampling was used to recruit participants. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 18 cervical cancer patients and the data were analysed using content analysis. Results The analysis identified three relevant themes. Theme 1: Negative emotions in convalescent cervical cancer patients mainly comprised fear of recurrence, worries about sex and feelings of inferiority. Theme 2: Patients used positive and negative coping styles to manage negative emotions. Theme 3: Patients expressed a strong need for rehabilitation information. Conclusions Patients with cervical cancer exhibited negative emotions during the rehabilitation period. To help these patients, medical staff should develop an understanding of their needs by communicating more with patients and providing them with targeted care to help them return to society more quickly.

Abstract
Background New screening techniques may affect the optimal approaches
for the prevention of cervical cancer. We evaluated the cost-effectiveness and accuracy of alternative screening strategies to provide evidence for cervical cancer screening guidelines in China. Methods In total, 32,306 women were enrolled. The current screening with Cervista® high-risk human papillomavirus (HR-HPV) nongenotyping and cytology cotesting (Cervista® cotesting) was compared with PCR-reverse dot blot HR-HPV genotyping and cytology cotesting (PCR-RDB cotesting). All eligible participants were divided into Arm 1, in which both HR-HPV assays were performed, and Arms 2 and 3, in which the PCR-RDB HPV or Cervista® HR-HPV assay, respectively, was performed. Outcome indicators included the cases, sensitivity, negative predictive value (NPV), colposcopy referral rate and cost of identifying cervical intraepithelial neoplasia of grade 2/3 or worse (CIN2+/CIN3+). Results Among the eligible participants, 18.4% were PCR-RDB HR-HPV-positive, while 16.9% were Cervista® HR-HPV-positive, which reflects good agreement (k = 0.73). PCR-RDB cotesting identified more CIN3+ cases than Cervista® cotesting in the first round of screening in Arm 1 (37 vs 32) and Arms 2/3 (252 vs 165). The sensitivity and NPV of PCR-RDB cotesting for identifying CIN3+ in Arm 1 (sensitivity: 94.9% vs 86.5%; NPV: 99.9% vs 99.7%) and Arms 2/3 (sensitivity: 95.1% vs 80.9%; NPV: 99.9% vs 99.6%) were higher than those of Cervista® cotesting, but the cost was similar. Conclusions The PCR-RDB HR-HPV genotyping and Cervista® HR-HPV assay results were consistent. PCR-RDB cotesting possesses optimal cost-effectiveness for cervical cancer screening in China, which has the highest number of cases globally but low screening coverage.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The US American Society of Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology guidelines for cervical cancer screening have been largely adopted worldwide. Pooled high-risk human papillomavirus (hrHPV) testing has been routinely used to risk-stratify women who have atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance (ASC-US) cytology. However, it has been reported that there are distinguished differences in the distribution of hrHPV genotypes between the Chinese and American populations. METHODS The objective of this study was to analyze the age-stratified reporting rates, hrHPV-positive rates, and genotyping by different cytology preparation methods and hrHPV testing assays, along with the immediate histopathologic correlation of ASC-US cytology, in the Chinese population. RESULTS The ASC-US reporting rate of 1,597,136 Papanicolaou (Pap) tests was 4.2%, and the overall hrHPV-positive rate was 48.7% in the ASC-US cases. In total, 25,338 women with ASC-US Pap tests had immediate histologic follow-up, and the detection rate for cervical intraepithelial neoplasia 2 and higher lesions (CIN2+) was 7.1%, including 0.6% carcinomas. Among the women who underwent hrHPV testing, CIN2+ lesions were identified in 657 of 6154 (10.7%) who had hrHPV-positive results and in only 1.5% those who had hrHPV-negative results. Further genotyping analysis revealed that HPV types 16 and/or 18 were commonly identified genotypes among the Chinese women who had ASC-US cytology. CONCLUSIONS This large-scale study demonstrated that the hrHPV-positive rate, the CIN2+ detection rate, and the distribution of hrHPV genotypes in Chinese women with ASC-US cytology were essentially consistent with those from the American population, further supporting that the current and newly released 2019 American Society of Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology guidelines should be applicable to the Chinese population.

Abstract
Background Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is the leading cause of genital diseases. It can cause a series of cervical lesions. The distribution of HPV genotypes indicates that the increased prevalence of high-risk HPV (HR-HPV) is positively correlated with the severity of cervical lesions. In addition, persistent HR-HPV infection is associated with the risk of cervical cancer. Considering the latest approval of homemade HPV vaccine in China and the prevalence of HPV distribution, this is of great significance for guiding HPV vaccination work. Objective Our study’s purpose was to examine trends of cervical HPV infection rate in each 5-year age group from 2011 to 2019. Methods Retrospective analysis of human papillomavirus prevalence rate of 59,541 women from 2011 to 2019 in the District Zhoupu of Shanghai City in China. HPV genotype testing is performed using a commercial kit designed to detect 15 high-risk HPV genotypes and 6 low-risk HPV genotypes. Trends were examined for each 5-year age group. Results In the District Zhoupu of Shanghai City in China, the prevalence rate of cervical HPV increased significantly among women aged 15–34 years. The most prevalent HR-HPV genotypes were 52, 16, 58, 53, 39, and 51. Conclusion Cervical HPV prevalence rate is very high in younger women in suburb Shanghai. Due to significant differences in infection rates between specific age groups and HPV subtypes, timely intervention is required for these vulnerable populations.

Abstract

METHODS This cross-sectional study was conducted in 2018 with a sample of women aged 20 to 45 from rural areas of Hunan Province in China. Anonymous self-administered questionnaires were used to collect sociodemographic information and characteristics related to reproductive health of participants, and intentions of and barriers to HPV vaccination. All statistical analysis methods were performed with SPSS 18.0. RESULTS A total of 2101 women participated in the study, with 58.55% intended to vaccinate against HPV. Increased intention of HPV vaccination was associated with higher age (adjusted odds ratio [AOR] = 1.35 and 1.50, respectively) and education level (AOR = 1.13 and 1.47, respectively). Women who have heard of HPV vaccine (AOR = 2.67, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.20-5.98) and have been aware of that cervical cancer could be prevented (AOR = 2.01, 95%CI: 1.44-2.82) were more willing to vaccinate. Having never heard of HPV vaccine and worry about efficacy and safety of vaccines were the most commonly cited reasons to refuse vaccination. The preferred source to get the knowledge was medical personnel (58.45%), followed by WeChat or Microblog, TV programs, and Internet. CONCLUSION We found the intention of HPV vaccination among women aged 20 to 45 in rural China is low. Findings highlighted the importance of knowledge and trust in HPV vaccine, and suggested strengthening educational interventions on HPV vaccine and vaccination through multiple sources, including HPV vaccine coverage in health insurance to increase access.

Abstract
Background Human papilloma virus (HPV) infection is one of the most common sexually transmitted infections among women worldwide. The current study’s main objective is to report the prevalence and distribution of HPV types in an urban population in Beijing, China. Methods All the eligible female participants aged ≥18 years were recruited from the Aerospace Center Hospital in Beijing, China between 2014 and 2018. A total of 21 HPV types were detected by the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) reverse dot blot method and fluorescence quantitative PCR method. Results In total, 12 high risk HPV types and nine low risk HPV types were detected. The HPV-positive rates were 8.85% in 2014, 7.16% in 2015, 7.60% in 2016, 8.31% in 2017, and 7.72% in 2018, respectively, in an urban population in Beijing, China. Overall, no significant differences in the HPV-positive rates were found over the five years. The peak prevalence of HPV infection in all types was observed in age group of 20–24 in all types. HPV52 was the dominant HPV type across the five years . Among all 21 HPV types, HPV66, HPV26, and HPV59 were ranked the top three in coinfection occurrence. Conclusions Our findings are very helpful for HPV screening and vaccination. The associations between gynaecological diseases and the HPV types with high prevalence, particularly HPV52, warrant further investigation.

Abstract
No study examined the frequency of human papillomavirus (HPV) genotypes by surface plasmon resonance (SPR) in Southwest China. This was a cross-sectional survey (The Second Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University, 10/2010 to 12/2011) in 150 patients who were hospitalized or volunteered for cervical cancer (CC) screening. A HPV typing kit was used to detect 24 types of HPV by the SPR technique. The HPV-positive rate was 34.8% in women with normal cytology and 92.9% in women with CC. The frequency of HPV16 increased from 9.4% for women with normal cytology to 28.9% for cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN)1, 41.4% for CIN2, 54.1% for CIN3, and 71.4% for CC (p < 0.001). The frequency of HPV18 increased from 0% for women with normal cytology to 2.6% for CIN1, 3.4% for CIN2, 5.4% for CIN3, and 21.4% for CC (p = 0.03). HPV40 was only found in one patient with CC (p = 0.04). There was no relation between HPV genotype and women’s age. In Kunming (Southwest China), the frequency of HPV infection was 74.0% among women who underwent CC screening. HPV16 and HPV18 were the two most frequent genotypes. SPR could be of value for the screening of HPV infection.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The Roche Cobas (Cobas) and BD Onclarity (Onclarity) human papillomavirus (HPV) assays are convenient, PCR-based, HPV DNA tests; currently, data on performance of Onclarity in Chinese women is limited. We aimed to evaluate the clinical performance of Onclarity for detecting cervical lesions in Chinese women. METHODS In total, 1122 women were enrolled into this study. Exfoliated cervical cells were collected in PreservCyt medium and were tested using Cobas and Onclarity. Cytology and histology were interpreted by senior cytologists and a panel of pathologists, respectively, at Cancer Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences. RESULTS The assays showed excellent concordance for HPV16 (kappa = 0.91, 95% CI: 0.85-0.97) and for 12 other high-risk types (HPV31/33/35/39/45/51/52/56/58/59/66/68, kappa = 0.84, 95% CI: 0.78-0.90), and very good concordance for HPV18 (kappa = 0.75, 95% CI: 0.69-0.81). No difference for ≥CIN2 sensitivity was observed between Onclarity and Cobas (both 90.5%); and the <CIN2 specificity for detection was similar between Onclarity (84.2%, 95% CI: 81.6-86.4) and Cobas (80.4%, 95% CI: 77.6-82.8). When combined with cytology triage, the colposcopy referral rate point estimate was slightly lower for Onclarity (9.0%) than for Cobas (11.0%), with the same ≥CIN2 sensitivity of 75.0% (95% CI: 53.1-88.8) for Onclarity and Cobas. CONCLUSIONS Onclarity exhibited comparable screening performance and triage efficiency compared to Cobas in detection of cervical lesions in Chinese women.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This study aimed to determine human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine uptake and willingness to receive HPV vaccination among female college students, in China, and its associated factors. METHODS An online cross-sectional survey of female college students across the eastern, central, and western regions of China was undertaken between April and September 2019. Partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) was used to examine factors associated with the HPV vaccine uptake and willingness to receive the HPV vaccine. RESULTS Among the total 4220 students who participated in this study, 11.0% reported having been vaccinated against HPV. There are direct effects of indicators of higher socioeconomic status, older age (β = 0.084 and p = 0.006), and geographical region (residing in Eastern China, β = 0.033, and p = 0.024) on HPV vaccine uptake. Higher knowledge (β = 0.062 and p < 0.000) and perceived susceptibility (β = 0.043 and p = 0.002) were also predictors of HPV vaccine uptake. Of those who had not received the HPV vaccine, 53.5% expressed a willingness to do so. Likewise, social economic status indicators were associated with the willingness to receive the HPV vaccine. Total knowledge score (β = 0.138 and p < 0.001), both perceived susceptibility (β = 0.092 and p < 0.001) and perceived benefit (β = 0.088 and p < 0.001), and sexual experience (β = 0.041 and p = 0.007) had a positive and significant direct effect on the willingness to receive the HPV vaccine, while perceived barriers (β = -0.071 and p < 0.001) had a negative effect on the willingness to receive the HPV vaccine. CONCLUSIONS Geographical region and socioeconomic disparities in the HPV vaccination uptake rate and willingness to receive the HPV vaccine provide valuable information for public health planning that aims to improve vaccination rates in underserved areas in China. The influence of knowledge and perceptions of HPV vaccination suggests the importance of communication for HPV immunization.

Factors influencing intention to obtain the HPV vaccine and acceptability of 2-, 4- and 9-valent HPV vaccines: A study of undergraduate female health sciences students in Fujian, China. Abstract
BACKGROUND Little research has been conducted on the intention to obtain HPV vaccine now that the vaccine is approved for use in China. Acceptance of the three HPV vaccines, which differ in valency and price, has never been investigated. METHODS An online cross-sectional survey assessing female undergraduate students' intention to obtain the HPV vaccine and their acceptability of 2-, 4- and 9-valent HPV vaccines (2vHPV, 4vHPV, and 9vHPV, respectively). RESULTS Of a total of 997 complete responses, 55.2% reported intent to obtain the HPV vaccine. Some of the significant factors exerting influence on intent to obtain HPV vaccination were high knowledge score (OR = 1.469, 95% CI:1.087-1.987), perceived high risk of HPV infection (OR = 1.466, 95%CI:1.017-2.114), perception of no serious side effects (OR = 1.562, 95%CI:1.150-2.121), and mass media exposure to HPV vaccination information (OR = 2.196, 95%CI: 1.625-2.966). Socioeconomic status indicators did not significantly influence intent to obtain the HPV vaccine. A higher proportion of respondents were willing to pay for 2vHPV (78.6%) and 4vHPV (68.0%) compared with 9vHPV (49.3%). Socioeconomic status indicators were the strongest correlates of acceptability for all the three vaccines. Exposure to mass media reporting about HPV vaccination is the factor which exerts the most influence on acceptance of 9vHPV after socioeconomic status indicators. CONCLUSIONS It is important to improve knowledge and health beliefs, and to establish a mass media marketing strategy to promote HPV vaccination in order to enhance HPV vaccine uptake. Undergraduate female students should be provided with detailed information about the different valency vaccine choices to help them make informed decisions about immunization.

Abstract
Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection which continues to be the most common sexually transmitted disease, has been identified as a major risk factor for cervical cancer. Therefore, it is very important to understand and grasp the distribution of HPV in Chinese population, and make the foundation for the development of cervical cancer vaccine in China. An extensive search strategy was conducted in multiple literature databases. All retrieved studies were screened by October 31, 2018. The prevalence of HPV infection was analyzed using random effects model. A total of 68 studies satisfied the inclusion criteria for our study. The national overall prevalence of HPV infection was 15.54% (95% CI: 13.83%-17.24%). we also performed subgroup analysis by age, geographic location, level of economic development, HPV assay method, and type of HPV infection. The top 5 common HPV types detected in general population, were HPV 16 (3.52%, 95% CI: 3.18%-3.86%), 52 (2.20%, 95% CI: 1.93%-2.46%), 58 (2.10%, 95% CI: 1.88%-2.32%), 18 (1.20%, 95% CI: 1.05%-1.35%), and 33 (1.02%, 95% CI: 0.89%-1.14%). Except for the higher prevalence of HPV infection in 2009 and 2010, the prevalence of HPV infection in other years changed little, ranged from 13.2% to 17.4%. HPV type in Chinese women was quite distinctive. HPV infection played a critical role in the occurrence of cervical cancer, understanding the distribution of HPV type and performing the HPV type testing had important clinical value for colposcopy referral and increasing the detection rate. Therefore, our findings could provide evidence for cervical cancer screening and vaccine, in order to reduce the burden of cervical cancer.

Abstract
The development of highly sensitive HPV-genotyping tests has opened the possibility of treating HPV-infected women before high-grade lesions appear. The lack of efficient intervention for persistent high-risk HPV infection necessitates the need for development of novel therapeutic strategy. Here we demonstrate that REBACIN®, a proprietary antiviral biologics, has shown potent efficacy in the clearance of persistent HPV infections. Two independent parallel clinical studies were investigated, which a total of 199 patients were enrolled and randomly divided into a REBACIN®-test group and a control group without treatment. The viral clearance rates for the REBACIN® groups were 61.5% (24/39) and 62.5% (35/56), respectively, for the two independent parallel studies. In contrast, the nontreatment groups showed self-clearance rates at 20.0% (8/40) and 12.5% (8/64). We further found that REBACIN® was able to significantly repress the expression of HPV E6 and E7 oncogenes in TC-1 and Hela cells. The two viral genes are well known for the development of high-grade premalignancy lesion and cervical cancer. In a mouse model, REBACIN® was indicated to notably suppress E6/E7-induced tumor growth, suggesting E6 and E7 oncogenes as a potential target of REBACIN®. Taken together, our studies shed light into the development of a novel noninvasive therapeutic intervention for clearance of persistent HPV infection with significant efficacy.

Abstract
Accumulating evidence indicates that persistent infection with high-risk oncogenic human papillomavirus (HPV) genotypes is the most important risk factor for cervical cancer, and that the distribution of HPV genotypes varies regionally. This study explored the prevalence and genotype distribution of HPV infection among Han, Yi, and Bai women in various regions of Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, China. This cross-sectional study included 2779 women (20-76 years old) who were referred for 21-HPV genotype array diagnostic from five regions of Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture between February 2013 and May 2016. Statistical methods used included a the χ2 test, Fisher's exact test, t test, and logistic regression. Overall HPV prevalence in the study population was 7.6%. HPV-52, HPV-58, HPV-18, HPV-81, and HPV-16 were the most prevalent genotypes in the study area, and notably, the prevalence of HPV-58 was significantly higher among women in Heqing County than that in other regions. Univariate analysis showed that husband's age, region, fertility status, and parity were potential factors associated with HPV infection. Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that Heqing County was an independent risk factor for HPV infection among women in the Dali area, moreover, Yi women showed the highest risk for HPV infections. Overall, our finding emphasizing the urgent need for an HPV screening and prevention program in Heqing County and Yi women. We also suggest that HPV-related health education should be provided not only to women, but also to men, to reduce the risk of infection in women.

Abstract
Background: Genotype distribution and prevalence of human papillomavirus (HPV) among women vary from different regions and crowds, prophylactic HPV vaccin could prevent some diseases related to HPV, which include cervical precancerous lesions and cancer. Baseline surveys prior to mass HPV vaccination are critical to determine vaccine efficacy and detect changes in HPV type after vaccination. Objective: The aim of this study is to study the HPV type-specific prevalence in 698 women with cytological abnormalities, aging from 18 to 77 years old. Additionally, the association between HPV infection and cervical disease was investigated as well. Methods: A total of 698 cervical specimens of cytological abnormalities were collected from the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University. The Thinprep liquid-based cytologic test (TCT) was performed and the cytological status was classified according to Bethesda 2001. The samples were tested HPV genotype by the PCR-based hybridization gene chip assay. Results: Overall, the HPV prevalence was 54.87%, and it was shown to be age dependent, and with the decreasing and zigzag prevalence until the age of 55 years. 204 patients (53.26%) were infected with pure high-risk HPV, 139 (36.30%) with pure low-risk HPV, and 40 (10.44%) with mixed HPV types. HPV16 was the most common type (35.36%), followed by HPV58 (13.62%) and HPV52 (9.15%). In this study, 386 (55.30%) were affected by ASCUS, 11 (1.58%) by ASC-H, 137 (19.63%) by L-SIL and 151 (21.63%) by H-SIL. Women with a cytology result of ASCUS, ASC-H, L-SIL and H-SIL had the infection of HPV 39.12%, 54.17%, 70.80% and 80.79% respectively. Conclusions: In conclusion, this study presents the first investigation about the prevalence of HPV infection and HPV genotype distribution in Xinjiang women who have abnormal cytological tests. Prior to HPV immunization in Xinjiang’s population, our results could be baseline data and validation set, which provide robust available estimates of the prevalence of type-specific HPV.

Abstract
Immunomics tools and databases play an important role in the designing of prophylactic or therapeutic vaccines against pathogenic bacteria and viruses. Therefore, we aimed to illustrate the different immunological databases and web servers used to design a chimeric vaccine candidate against human cervix papilloma. Initially, cellular immunity inducing major histocompatibility complex class I and II epitopes from L2 protein of papilloma 58 strain were predicted using the IEDB, NetMHC, and Tepi tools. Then, the overlapped segments from the above analysis were used to calculate efficiency on interferon-gamma and humoral immunity production. In addition, the allergenicity, antigenicity, cross-reactivity with human proteomes, and epitope conservancy of elite segments were determined. The chimeric vaccine candidate (SGD58) was constructed with two different overlapped peptide segments (23–36) and (29–42), adjuvants (flagellin and RS09), two Th epitopes, and amino acid linkers. The results of homology modeling demonstrated that SGD58 have 88.6% of favored regions based on Ramachandran plot. Protein–protein docking with Swarm Dock reveals SGD58 with receptor complex have −54.74 kcal/mol of binding energy with more than 20 interacting residues. Docked complex are stable in 100ns of molecular dynamic simulation. Further, coding sequences of SGD58 also show elevated gene expression in E. coli. In conclusion, SGD58 may prompt vaccine against cervix papilloma. This study provides insight of vaccine design against different pathogenic microbes as well.

Abstract
The human papillomavirus (HPV) 58 is considered to be the second most predominant genotype in cervical cancer incidents in China. HPV type-restriction, non-targeted delivery, and the highcost of existing vaccines necessitate continuing research on the HPV vaccine. We aimed to explore the papillomaviral proteome in order to identify potential candidates for a chimeric vaccine against cervix papilloma using computational immunology and structural vaccinology approaches. Two overlapped epitope segments (23⁻36) and (29⁻42) from the N-terminal region of the HPV58 minor capsid protein L2 are selected as capable of inducing both cellular and humoral immunity. In total, 318 amino acid lengths of the vaccine construct SGD58 contain adjuvants (Flagellin and RS09), two Th epitopes, and linkers. SGD58 is a stable protein that is soluble, antigenic, and non-allergenic. Homology modeling and the structural refinement of the best models of SGD58 and TLR5 found 96.8% and 93.9% favored regions in Rampage, respectively. The docking results demonstrated a HADDOCK score of -62.5 ± 7.6, the binding energy (-30 kcal/mol) and 44 interacting amino acid residues between SGD58-TLR5 complex. The docked complex are stable in 100 ns of simulation. The coding sequences of SGD58 also show elevated gene expression in Escherichia coli with 1.0 codon adaptation index and 59.92% glycine-cysteine content. We conclude that SGD58 may prompt the creation a vaccine against cervix papilloma.

Abstract
CONTEXT.— Reports for atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance (ASC-US) and histologic findings are rare in China. OBJECTIVE.— To analyze the correlation findings of ASC-US cytology with high-risk human papillomavirus (hrHPV) test and histopathologic follow-ups. DESIGN.— ASC-US cases with hrHPV test and histologic follow-ups between 2011 and 2015 were analyzed at a College of American Pathologists-certified laboratory. RESULTS.— A total of 2 206 588 Papanicolaou (Pap) tests were performed, including 1 513 265 liquid-based cytology preparations (68.58%), and 693 323 conventional Pap tests (31.42%). The overall ASC-US reporting rate was 3.77% (83 199 of 2 206 588), with the highest in women aged 40 to 49 years. Of 18 574 women with ASC-US Pap and HPV testing, the hrHPV positivity rate was 34.98% (6498 of 18 574) with the highest in women younger than 30 years. A total of 6012 women with ASC-US Pap test findings had histologic follow-ups within 6 months; the overall cervical intraepithelial neoplasia 2 and above (CIN2+) detection rate was 7.87% (473 of 6012). One thousand nine hundred nine women with ASC-US Pap and HPV testing had histologic results. CIN2+ lesion was found in 13.98% (124 of 887) of women with ASC-US Pap/HPV-positive test results, significantly higher than 2.84% (29 of 1022) for women with ASC-US Pap/HPV-negative test results. Cervical squamous cell carcinoma was found in 3.95% (35 of 887) of women with ASC-US/HPV-positive test results. CONCLUSIONS.— This is one of the largest studies to investigate HPV and histologic follow-up findings in women with ASC-US in China. The ASC-US reporting rate, HPV positivity rate, and CIN2+ detection rate were all within the currently recognized benchmark ranges. These findings may contribute to establishing a baseline for better understanding of the status of cervical screening in China.

Prevalence and Genotype Distribution of Human Papillomavirus in Invasive Cervical Cancer, Cervical Intraepithelial Neoplasia, and Asymptomatic Women in Southeast China. Abstract
Cervical cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths among women and it is caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). High variation has been reported in the attribution of specific HPV genotypes to cervical neoplasia among various geographic regions. For effective control of cervical cancer through HPV vaccination, it is essential to estimate the cost-effectiveness of vaccination, to monitor the potential transition into other HPV genotypes, and to understand the distribution of specific HPV genotypes across a specific geographic region. In this study, the distribution of HPV genotypes was investigated in southeast China, from 2011 to 2016. The 12,816 cervical swabs collected from women (age 18–78 years, median 43.6 years) outpatients were analyzed. HPV prevalence among 12,816 cervical swabs analyzed was 22.3% (2,856/12,816). Among these positive cases, 2,216 had only one HPV genotype while 640 had multiple HPV genotypes. The cases with multiple types revealed 23 different HPV genotypes with the five most prevalent being HPV18 (18.2%), HPV52 (14.1%), HPV16 (11.9%), HPV58 (10.6%), and HPV33 (5.5%). The rates of HPV infection in patients with cervical inflammation, CIN-1, CIN-2, CIN-3, squamous carcinoma, and adenocarcinoma were 38.4%, 80.5%, 82.6%, 92.3%, 97.5%, and 93.4%, respectively. Four HPV genotypes, HPV18, HPV16, HPV52, and HPV58, were more prevalent in patients with CIN-2-CIN-3 and invasive cervical cancer. A comparison of HPV genotypes attribution to cervical cancer between southeast China and global incidences revealed distinct differences. Due to this unique prevalence, it is essential to streamline the vaccination development protocol prior to administering vaccines based on global data.
