Abstract
Background and objective When evaluating repair outcomes in robotic sacrocolpopexy (RSC) for the treatment of pelvic organ prolapse (POP), it has become evident that surgeons usually focus on anatomical improvements and neglect equally important parameters of patient satisfaction and quality of life (QoL). Investigating these factors would aid in achieving a more patient-centered approach to treatment. This study aimed to examine QoL and satisfaction outcomes in women after RSC. Methods This study analyzed self-reported patient data regarding RSC for POP performed between October 2009 and February 2017 by fellowship-trained urologists in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery. These patients participated in a survey to assess overall satisfaction and QoL, as well as contributing factors, such as changes in bladder and bowel function, vaginal bulge, and vaginal pain on a 7-point Likert scale (ranging from markedly worse to markedly improved). Data were examined using multivariate regression analysis. Positive treatment response was defined as scores of 6 or 7, whereas negative response was defined as scores of 1 to 5. Results The response rate was 41% (156/380), and the median age of the participants was 70 years [interquartile range (IQR): 63, 73]. Of note, 98.7% were Caucasian, with 73% currently in a significant relationship. The median duration since RSC was 2.12 years (IQR: 1.2, 3.7). Overall, 93 (66.9%), patients (23.0%), and 123 patients (88.5%) had a positive treatment response for bladder function, bowel function, and vaginal bulge, respectively. Furthermore, 66% of women had improved QoL, 84% reported improved overall satisfaction, and 91.4% stated that they would recommend RSC to a friend. After controlling for significant covariates, results of a multivariate analysis demonstrated positive treatment response for bladder function [odds ratio (OR): 14.6; p < 0.0001], bowel function (OR: 9.72; p = 0.003), and vaginal bulge (OR: 41.7; p < 0.0001), significantly associated with increased odds of having improved QoL, whereas positive treatment response for vaginal bulge (OR: 26.9; p = 0.023) and recommending RSC to a friend (OR: 175; p = 0.0009) were associated with positive overall satisfaction. Conclusions Our findings endorse using RSC surgery for patients with POP based on both QoL improvement and overall post-procedure satisfaction perspective. This study may help encourage surgeons and clinicians to employ a surgical modality that incorporates each patient’s unique treatment desires and goals and provide patients with realistic post-procedure goals and expectations regarding treatment.

Abstract
AIM To investigate whether there is a significant difference among the patients who underwent vaginal hysterectomy with sacrospinous ligament fixation (VH + SSLF), laparoscopic hysterectomy with sacrocolpopexy (LH + SCP) and abdominal hysterectomy with sacrocolpopexy (AH + SCP) in terms of sexual function and quality of life. MATERIAL AND METHOD Sixty-five patients undergoing vaginal hysterectomy with sacrospinous ligament fixation (VH + SSLF), laparoscopic hysterectomy with sacrocolpopexy (LH + SCP) or abdominal hysterectomy with sacrocolpopexy (AH + SCP) participated in the study. The Quality of Life Scale and Sexual Function Scale Index (PISQ-12) were used to see whether there is a significant difference among the three groups (VH + SSLF, LH + SCP, AH + SCP) at least 1 year after surgery. The Pelvic Floor Distress Inventory-20 (PFDI-20) Scale consisting of Pelvic Organ Prolapse Distress Inventory (POPDI-6), Urinary Distress Inventory (UDI-6), and Colorectal-Anal Distress Inventory (CRADI-8) was used to evaluate the functional outcomes. RESULTS The participants had a mean age of 60 ± 8.79 years. The mean PFDI-20 score in the VH + SSLF groups is higher than that in the AH + SCP group (p = 0.047). There is no significant difference among three VH + SSLF, LH + SCP and AH + SCP groups regarding scores of POPDI-6, UDI-6, CRADI-8, and PISQ-12. CONCLUSION In the present study, it was concluded that AH + SCP group had a higher quality of life than the VH + SSLF group did while the sexual function was not affected significantly by the vaginal or abdominal surgical procedures. The pelvic surgeon should skillfully choose different prolapse surgical techniques to tailor the surgical treatment to the patient's needs.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION AND HYPOTHESIS Treatment of anterior vaginal and/or apical prolapse by sacrocolpopexy is most often performed by systematic placement of two non-resorbable meshes, anterior and posterior, whether or not there is an associated posterior vaginal prolapse. We believe that isolated correction of an anterior vaginal and/or apical prolapse in the absence of posterior vaginal prolapse is not associated with a higher rate of de novo posterior vaginal prolapse. METHOD A prospective, observational, monocenter study performed in the Gynecology unit of the Conception UHC in Marseille from May 2011 to October 2014. Patients over 18 years of age exhibiting an anterior vaginal and/or apical prolapse of stage ≥ 2 of the POP-Q classification resulting in functional impairment with alteration of the quality of life, without an associated posterior vaginal prolapse were included and underwent a laparoscopic anterior sacrocolpopexy (ASP). They were seen again in consultation one year from the intervention. Validated quality of life questionnaires were completed pre- and one year postoperatively. RESULTS 50 patients were included. The rate of de novo posterior vaginal prolapse was 8/50 (16 %). At one year, there was a significant improvement in terms of the SPDI-20 and SPIQ-7 (p < 0.0001) questionnaire, without significant improvement in the quality of sexual function (PISQ-12 questionnaire) (p = 0.073). CONCLUSION The risk of de novo posterior vaginal prolapse at one year is low when an ASP is carried out.

Abstract
AIM To compare 2-year outcomes of laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy (LSCP) either with polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) or hybrid polypropylene containing a resorbable polyglecaprone (PP+ PG) mesh. MATERIALS AND METHODS Retrospective audit on 105 consecutive patients undergoing LSCP a with PVDF-mesh (DynaMesh, FEG Textiltechniken), matched by prolapse stage and cervicopexy or vault suspension to 105 controls undergoing LSCP with a hybrid PP + PG-mesh (Ultrapro, Ethicon). Patients are part of an ongoing prospective study. The primary outcome measure was the Patient Global Impression of Change score (PGIC), the coprimary variable was failure rate at the vault (≤1 cm). Other outcomes were intraoperative and postoperative complications within 3 months categorized by the Clavien-Dindo classification, reinterventions, graft-related complications (GRCs) and functional outcomes. All assessments were performed by an independent assessor. Data are reported as median (interquartile range) number and percent as appropriate, the Mann-Whitney U, χ2 , or Fisher exact were used for comparison. RESULTS Patient satisfaction in the PVDF group, as measured with the PGIC, was high (90.9% PGIC, ≥4) as well as was the anatomical success (97.3%) at a follow-up of 26 months. These outcomes were comparable to those of PP + PG-patients (84.8% PGIC, ≥4; 94.9% anatomical success). There were five patients (2.4%) with Dindo-III or higher complications and three patients had GRCs (1.5%), without differences between mesh type. Level-II posterior defects (Bp ≥ -1) were less likely in PVDF patients (34.1% vs 50% for PP + PG-patients; P = .003). Women in the PVDF group also were less bothered by prolapse (7.5% vs 26.4%; P = .001), yet they complained more of constipation (15.0% vs 9.0%; P = .01). CONCLUSION There were no differences in patient satisfaction and anatomical outcomes after LSCP either with PVDF or PP + PG mesh.

Abstract
Introduction and hypothesis The use of synthetic mesh in transvaginal pelvic floor surgery has been subject to debate internationally. Although mesh erosion appears to be less associated with an abdominal approach, the long-term outcome has not been studied intensively. This study was set up to determine the long-term mesh erosion rate following abdominal pelvic reconstructive surgery. Methods A prospective, observational cohort study was conducted in a tertiary care setting. All consecutive female patients who underwent robot-assisted laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy and sacrocolporectopexy in 2011 and 2012 were included. Primary outcome was mesh erosion. Preoperative and postoperative evaluation (6 weeks, 1 year, 5 years) with a clinical examination and questionnaire regarding pelvic floor symptoms was performed. Mesh-related complications were assessed using a transparent vaginal speculum, proctoscopy, and digital vaginal and rectal examination. Kaplan–Meier estimates were calculated for mesh erosion. A review of the literature on mesh exposure after minimally invasive sacrocolpopexy was performed (≥12 months’ follow-up). Results Ninety-six of the 130 patients included (73.8%) were clinically examined. Median follow-up time was 48.1 months (range 36.0–62.1). Three mesh erosions were diagnosed (3.1%; Kaplan–Meier 4.9%, 95% confidence interval 0–11.0): one bladder erosion for which mesh resection and an omental patch interposition were performed, and two asymptomatic vaginal erosions (at 42.7 and 42.3 months) treated with estrogen cream in one. Additionally, 22 patients responded solely by questionnaire and/or telephone; none reported mesh-related complaints. The literature, mostly based on retrospective studies, described a median mesh erosion rate of 1.9% (range 0–13.3%). Conclusions The long-term rate of mesh erosion following an abdominally placed synthetic graft is low. Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the safety and effectiveness of laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy (LSC)/laparoscopic sacrohysteropexy (LSH) at 1-year follow-up for female pelvic-organ prolapse (POP). Patients and methods: In all, 52 patients were included and underwent LSC/LSH in the Eldemerdash Hospital, Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt. All patients with POP, with Grade ≥II of any anatomical site (anterior, posterior or combined) who were medically fit for general anaesthesia, were included in the study. Patients with previous major abdominal surgery, a body mass index (BMI) of >40 kg/m2 or un-correctable bleeding diatheses, were excluded. Preoperative data, peri- and postoperative functional and anatomical outcomes were assessed. The patients were followed-up at 3, 6 and 12 months postoperatively. Results: Pre- and postoperative data were available for the 52 patients operated on for POP. The subjective cure rate was 92.3% and the objective cure rate was 98.1%. Failure was defined as recurrence of Grade ≥II POP. Conclusion: LSC/LSH is a safe and effective procedure for the treatment of female POP due to its durable results and low rates of complications with high objective and subjective cure rates. Abstract
PURPOSE The aim of our study was to assess the impact of laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy on pelvic symptoms, quality of life and sexual function in patients with symptomatic pelvic organ prolapse. Secondary goals included the assessment of anatomical correction, recurrence and complication rates. METHODS This is a prospective, single-center study that included 82 patients between 2009 and 2016. A clinical evaluation took place before surgery, and was repeated at 3, 12, 36 and 60 months postoperatively. Patients routinely received an anterior prosthesis, associated with a posterior prosthesis in case of symptomatic rectocele. Patients included self-administered questionnaires for functional pelvic problems (PFDI-20), quality of life (PFIQ-7), and sexual function (PISQ-12), and a clinical examination with POP-Q staging, at each medical visit. RESULTS Functional pelvic problems derived from prolapse (PFDI-20 scores) and their impact on patients' quality of life (PFIQ-7 score) significantly improved at 3, 12, 36 and 60 months postoperatively. Improvement on sexual activity was significant at 3 and 60 months postoperatively. Effective prolapse anatomical correction (POP-Q score < 2) was found in 94.4% and 97.2% of patients at the anterior and middle stages, respectively, at the end of follow-up, but only in 80.3% at the posterior stage. Symptomatic recurrence required surgical intervention in 4 patients (5.3%). CONCLUSIONS This long-term follow-up prospective analysis confirms the good functional and anatomical results of laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy for pelvic organ prolapse.

Abstract
Hysterectomy is a potential risk factor for subsequent surgery for pelvic organ prolapse, especially when the prolapse exists before hysterectomy. Women without prolapse before hysterectomy may also experience prolapse after hysterectomy. This study aimed to describe a surgical modification of laparoscopic colposuspension with round ligaments after hysterectomy in women without preexisting genital prolapse and to evaluate the initial surgical results in these patients.We reviewed data of 54 patients who underwent laparoscopic hysterectomy with colposuspension with unilateral or bilateral round ligaments after hysterectomy at Chia-Yi Chang Gung Memorial Hospital from July 2012 to March 2015. Vaginal length was measured before and after colposuspension after complete hysterectomy. Preoperative characteristics of the patients, perioperative quality, postoperative outcomes, and vaginal length differences were analyzed.Vaginal length increased by a mean of 2.59 cm after colposuspension. The mean extra-operative time needed for laparoscopic colposuspension was about 10 minutes. No severe complications were reported in our patients, and we did not find any cystocele after completing vaginal cuff suspension to the round ligament.The vaginal apex level was maintained in our modified laparoscopic hysterectomy. Therefore, laparoscopic colposuspension with round ligaments is a promising option as a routine, first-line standard procedure in younger women without genital prolapse to maintain an acceptable vaginal length after laparoscopic hysterectomy.

Abstract
Introduction and hypothesis Female pelvic organ prolapse (POP) can severely influence sexual function. Robot-assisted surgery is increasingly used to treat POP, but studies describing its effect on sexual function are limited. The objective of this study was to evaluate sexual function after robot-assisted POP surgery. Methods This prospective cohort study included all patients who underwent a robot-assisted sacrocolpopexy (RASC) or supracervical hysterectomy with sacrocervicopexy (RSHS). Exclusion criteria were unknown preoperative sexual activity status or concomitant surgery. In sexually active women, sexual function was measured with the translated validated version of the Pelvic Organ Prolapse/Urinary Incontinence Sexual Questionnaire (PISQ-12). Changes in sexual activity were scored. Prolapse stages were described using the simplified Pelvic Organ Prolapse Quantification (S-POP) system. Results A total of 107 women were included (median follow-up 15.3 months). No difference was found in the total number of sexually active women before and after surgery [63 (58.9%) vs. 61 (63.5%), p = 0.999]. Significantly fewer women avoided sexual intercourse postoperatively compared with preoperatively. Preoperatively, sexual intercourse was avoided due to vaginal bulging (2% vs. 24%, respectively, p = 0.021). Total mean PISQ-12 scores improved significantly 1 year after prolapse correction (33.5 vs. 37.1; p = 0.004), mainly due to improved scores on the physical and behavioral–emotive domain. No significant difference in pre- and postoperative complains of dyspareunia was found. Conclusion Robot-assisted middle-compartment surgery improved sexual function 1 year after surgery according to enhanced physical and emotional scores. The total number of sexually active women and complains of dyspareunia before and after surgery did not differ.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) is prevalent and can impact women's physical and psychosocial health. To develop interventions that support this population, an understanding of the state of research on psychosocial factors related to POP is essential. We conducted a scoping study focused on the psychosocial experience of women with POP. The purpose of this review was to (1) inventory and describe the current state of knowledge of the psychosocial experience of women with POP, (2) identify gaps in knowledge, and (3) identify targets for future research. METHOD Electronic databases PsycINFO, PubMed, EMBASE, and CINAHL were searched through November 1, 2017. RESULTS Of 524 titles reviewed, 103 articles met all inclusion criteria. Articles were grouped by the disease period (ie, prediagnosis, diagnosis/preintervention, intervention, follow-up, and mixed) and psychosocial factors. Most articles (n = 73) focused on women undergoing intervention. Articles focusing on the preintervention period was the next largest category (n = 14). Follow-up after intervention (n = 8) and samples of mixed disease periods (n = 7) were less common. One article focused on women before diagnosis. Articles focused on quality of life (QOL; n = 79), sexual function (n = 51), satisfaction (n = 16), body image (n = 13), psychological distress (n = 4), and knowledge (n = 3). CONCLUSIONS Research on the psychosocial experience of POP has largely focused on changes in QOL and sexual function. Future research should target emotional experience of women with POP; relationships among QOL, psychological distress, body image, and sexual function; and psychosocial factors related to treatment outcomes.

Abstract
Background Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) is a common health problem. The lifetime risk of undergoing surgery for prolapse is 11%. POP significantly affects the effects on quality of life and activities of daily living. Laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy (LSC) has been viewed as the gold standard treatment for women with POP who desire reconstructive surgery. However, LSC is associated with technical difficulties, resulting in a long learning curve and operative time. Recently, our team introduced a new laparoscopic technique of inguinal ligament suspension (LILS) and had confirmed its safety and efficacy in treating vaginal vault prolapse. As a new surgical technique for POP, a prospective randomized controlled trial comparing the LILS with the standard technique of LSC is necessary. Therefore, we will conduct a trial. Methods The trial is a randomized controlled trial. It compares LILS with LSC in women with stage 2 or higher uterine prolapse. The primary outcomes of this study are perioperative parameters, including surgical time, blood loss, intraoperative complications, and hospital stay as well as surgical anatomical results using the pelvic organ prolapse questionnaire (POP-Q) classification at 6 weeks, 6 months, 12 months, and annually till 5 years after surgery. Secondary outcomes are subjective improvement in urogenital symptoms and quality of life, postoperative complications, postoperative recovery, sexual functioning, and cost-effectiveness at each follow-up point. Validated questionnaires will be used and the data will be analyzed according to the intention-to-treat principle. Based on an objective success rate of 90%, a noninferiority margin of 15%, and a dropout of 20%, 107 patients are needed in each arm to prove the hypothesis with a 95% confidence interval. Discussion The trial is a randomized controlled, multicenter, noninferiority trial that will provide evidence whether the efficacy and safety of LILS is noninferior to LSC in women with symptomatic stage 2 or higher uterine prolapse. Abstract
AIM To compare our developed nerve preserving technique with the non-nerve preserving one in terms of de novo bowel symptoms.
METHODS Patients affected by symptomatic apical prolapse, admitted to our department and treated by nerve preserving laparoscopic sacropexy (LSP) between October, 2010 and April, 2013 (Group A or “interventional group”) were compared to those treated with the standard LSP, between September, 2007 and December, 2009 (Group B or “control group”). Functional and anatomical data were recorded prospectively at the first clinical review, at 1, 6 mo, and every postsurgical year. Questionnaires were filled in by the patients at each follow-up clinical evaluation.
RESULTS Forty-three women were enrolled, 25/43 were treated by our nerve preserving technique and 18/43 by the standard one. The data from the interventional group were collected at a similar follow-up (> 18 mo) as those collected for the control group. No cases of de novo bowel dysfunction were observed in group A against 4 cases in group B (P = 0.02). Obstructed defecation syndrome (ODS) was highlighted by an increase in specific questionnaires scores and documented by the anorectal manometry. There were no cases of de novo constipation in the two groups. No major intraoperative complications were reported for our technique and it took no longer than the standard procedure. Apical recurrence and late complications were comparable in the two groups.
CONCLUSION Our nerve preserving technique seems superior in terms of prevention of de novo bowel dysfunction compared to the standard one and had no major intraoperative complications.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To compare laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy (LSC) or sacrohysteropexy (LSH) with vaginal sacrospinous ligament fixation (VSSLF) for middle compartment pelvic organ prolapse (POP). METHODS Data were retrospectively reviewed from patients with POP (stage 3 or worse) who underwent LSC, LSH, or VSSLF at a center in Shanghai between January 2009 and March 2014. POP quantification (POP-Q) and Pelvic Floor Distress Inventory scores were compared at the 2-year follow-up. RESULTS Data were available for the 2-year follow-up for 102 LSC, 11 LSH, and 94 VSSLF procedures. Compared with patients who had undergone VSSLF, those who had undergone LSC/LSH had better POP-Q C values (P<0.001), longer total vaginal length (TVL) (P<0.001), and lower Aa and Ba scores (P=0.003 and P=0.002, respectively). Apical compartment and overall success rates of LSC/LSH and VSSLF did not differ significantly. Quality of life was improved in both groups (P<0.001). Both groups achieved symptomatic relief, although bowel and urinary functions were significantly improved only in the VSSLF group (P<0.001 for both). More patients in the LSC/LSH group were sexually active at 2 years (P<0.001); improvement in sex life was similar between the groups. CONCLUSION Although LSC/LSH achieved longer TVL, both groups achieved the same success rate and improvement in quality of life. Specifically, VSSLF yielded a significant improvement in bowel and urinary function.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of robot assisted laparoscopic sacrohysteropexy (RALS), with preservation of the uterus, in patients with pelvic organ prolapse on short and long term outcome. We report on (anatomical) status of the prolaps and the associated health related quality of life of women treated with RALS before and five years after surgery. STUDY DESIGN A prospective cohort study in a teaching hospital in The Netherlands was performed. Quality of life was assessed pre-operative, post-operative and five years after RALS using the UDI/IIQ validated self-questionnaire designed for Dutch-speaking patients. Clinical and operative data were prospectively collected up to five years. Statistical analysis of categorical data was performed with the paired T-test. Descriptive statistics were computed with the use of standard methods for means, median and proportions. RESULTS Hundred women with utero vaginal prolapse were treated with RALS with preservation of the uterus. The overall success rate of pelvic organ prolapse (POP) was 89.2%. After surgery the quality of life improved (P<0.05) Overall health status, based on a 0-100% visual analogue scale (VAS), improved from 72.6% pre-operative to 82.2% six weeks postoperative (P<0.05). Postoperative patients experienced less feelings of nervousness (P=0.01), shame (P<0.05) and frustration (P<0.05). The positive effects on these feelings remained present after five years. The learning curve shows a decrease in operating time with gained experience. CONCLUSION RALS has proven to be a safe and effective treatment for uterine preserving surgery in cases of pelvic organ prolapse. The long term anatomical outcomes and quality of life after RALS compare favorably with laparoscopic and open hysteropexy.

Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) is defined as the protrusion of pelvic organs to the vagen and is an important health problem in patients of older age. Today, most women with POP prefer uterine sparing surgery due to the changes in lifestyle, beliefs, pregnancy desire, and understanding the role of the uterus and cervix in sexual function. Therefore, the need for newer surgical procedures that involve less invasive surgery, reduced intraoperative and postoperative risks, and a faster healing time in POP surgery have gained importance. Vaginal, abdominal, laparoscopic, and robotic methods are defined in uterine preserving surgery but there is not yet a consensus on which of them should be chosen. In choosing the proper technique, the patient's general status, accompanying disease, correct indication, and the surgeon's experience are all important. In our practice we prefer laparoscopic mesh sacrohysteropexy in patients who prefer to preserve their uterus because of the lower costs and high success rates compared with abdominal and robotic techniques.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Adverse event reporting for laparoscopic promontofixation is highly variable and non-standardized in the literature. The aim of this study was to better characterize early postoperative complications of laparoscopic promontofixation for genital prolapse using a standardized reporting methodology. PATIENTS AND METHODS A retrospective study was conducted on 174 women with genital prolapse undergoing laparoscopic promontofixation from January 2008 to January 2013. Complications arising during the first month after surgery were reviewed according to the Clavien and Dindo classification. RESULTS At least one postoperative adverse event was reported in 57 out of 174 (33 %) women, grade 1 in 22 patients (13 %), grade 2 in 31 patients (18 %) and grade 3 in 4 patients (2 %). No patient experienced a grade 4 or 5 complication. Fifty-three out of 57 (93 %) complications were grade 1 or 2. The most frequently reported adverse event (n=24; 14 %) was constipation (grade 2). DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION Laparoscopic promontofixation is a safe procedure with almost exclusively benign (grade 1 or 2) early complications. The hypothesis of induction or increasing constipation by this type of genital prolapse surgery should be further evaluated.

Abstract
CONTEXT Abdominal sacrocolpopexy (ASC) represents the superior treatment for apical pelvic organ prolapse (POP) but is associated with increased length of stay, analgesic requirement, and cost compared with transvaginal procedures. Laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy (LSC) and robot-assisted sacrocolpopexy (RSC) may offer shorter postoperative recovery while maintaining equivalent rates of cure. OBJECTIVE This review evaluates the literature on LSC and RSC for clinical outcomes and complications. EVIDENCE ACQUISITION A PubMed search of the available literature from 1966 to 2013 on LSC and RSC with a follow-up of at least 12 mo was performed. A total of 256 articles were screened, 69 articles selected, and outcomes from 26 presented. A review, not meta-analysis, was conducted due to the quality of the articles. EVIDENCE SYNTHESIS LSC has become a mature technique with results from 11 patient series encompassing 1221 patients with a mean follow-up of 26 mo. Mean operative time was 124 min (range: 55-185) with a 3% (range: 0-11%) conversion rate. Objective cure was achieved in 91% of patients, with similar satisfaction rates (92%). Six patient series encompassing 363 patients treated with RSC with a mean follow-up of 28 mo have been reported. Mean operative time was 202 min (range: 161-288) with a 1% (range: 0-4%) conversion rate. Objective cure rate was 94%, with a 95% subjective success rate. Overall, early outcomes and complication rates for both LSC and RSC appeared comparable with open ASC. CONCLUSIONS LSC and RSC provide excellent short- to medium-term reconstructive outcomes for patients with POP. RSC is more expensive than LSC. Further studies are required to better understand the clinical performance of RSC versus LSC and confirm long-term efficacy. PATIENT SUMMARY Laparoscopic and robot-assisted sacrocolpopexy represent attractive minimally invasive alternatives to abdominal sacrocolpopexy. They may offer reduced patient morbidity but are associated with higher costs.

Abstract
AIM The goal of this study was to evaluate the long-term outcomes of laparoscopic colposuspension to the Cooper's ligament after hysterectomy for uterovaginal prolapse. MATERIAL AND METHODS We performed chart reviews of 43 patients with uterovaginal prolapse who underwent laparoscopic colposuspension to the Cooper's ligament after hysterectomy at Daejeon St. Mary's Hospital, Catholic University of Korea from 2003 to 2009. These patients exhibited grade 3 (29 patients) or grade 4 (14 patients) uterovaginal prolapse. RESULTS The mean age was 63.2 years (range, 39-76). The mean follow-up period was 44.2 months (95% CI, 36.8-51.5). Forty-three patients showed no sign or recurrence of prolapse. Postoperative complications were tolerable and curable. Urinary frequency (2 patients, 4.7%), voiding difficulty (2 patients, 4.7%), nocturia (1 patient, 2.3%) and vaginal spotting (1 patient, 2.3%) were reported. CONCLUSION Laparoscopic colposuspension using Cooper's ligament after hysterectomy could be an effective surgical option for the treatment of uterovaginal prolapse.

Abstract
Over the past decade, the use of quality of life (QOL) questionnaires in the evaluation of pelvic organ prolapse (POP) has become a standard part of most clinical studies. Investigators have attempted to correlate QOL scores with objective findings and treatment efficacy and as outcome measures in comparing different treatment modalities. Many of the QOL questionnaires are available in short forms, making them easier to adapt to clinical settings. This article includes an overview of several validated QOL questionnaires and their application in studies whose results provide useful guidelines for health care professionals who diagnose and manage women with POP.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Measuring quality of life of women with disorders of the pelvic floor is crucial when evaluating a therapy. The aim of this study is to profile health related quality of life of women with pelvic organ prolapse who are treated with robot assisted laparoscopic sacrohysteropexy (RALS). We also compare the operative characteristics and learning curve in this study with the current literature and describe the surgical technique. STUDY DESIGN A prospective cohort study in a teaching hospital in The Netherlands. Fifty women with uterovaginal prolapse were treated with RALS. This study presents the largest cohort in Europe treated by RALS to date. Quality of life was assessed pre- and post-operatively using the UDI/IIQ validated self-questionnaire designed for Dutch-speaking patients. Clinical and operative data were prospectively collected up to 29 months. RALS was performed with preservation of the uterus. Statistical analysis of categorical data was performed with the paired T-test. Descriptive statistics were computed with the use of standard methods for means, median and proportions. RESULTS Before operation, overall wellbeing was scored at 67.7% and after surgery this improved to 82.1% (p=0.03). Feelings of nervousness, frustration and embarrassment reduced significantly. Sexual functioning improved, but not significantly. The mean operative time was 223 (103-340) min. Operative time decreased significantly with gained experience and became comparable to the operative time for abdominal sacrocolpopexy and classic laparoscopy. Average blood loss was less than 50 ml and patients had a mean hospital stay of 2 days. Of all women, 95.2% were very satisfied with the result after RALS. CONCLUSION Health related quality of life improves significantly after RALS. There are high rates of patient satisfaction. RALS proves to be a safe and effective treatment of pelvic organ prolapse. Operative time is comparable to abdominal sacrocolpopexy and classic laparoscopy in the current literature.

Abstract
Approximately 11% of women will undergo a surgical procedure for the treatment of pelvic organ prolapse (POP) or urinary incontinence by age 80 years. Abdominal sacrocolpopexy has been found in multiple studies to have high long-term success rates for repair of severe vault prolapse. Robotic or laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy offer similar success to an open approach. This article describes the techniques of laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy and robotic sacrocolpopexy. The role of hysteropexy for the treatment of POP is also discussed.
