Abstract
In this paper, we highlight the synthesis of a variety of primary phosphine-boranes (RPH2 ⋅BH3 ) from the corresponding dichlorophosphines, simply by using Li[BH4 ] as reductant and provider of the BH3 protecting group. The method offers facile access not only to alkyl- and arylphosphine-boranes, but also to aminophosphine-boranes (R2 NPH2 ⋅BH3 ) that are convenient building blocks but without the protecting BH3 moiety thermally labile and notoriously difficult to handle. The borane-protected primary phosphines can be doubly deprotonated using n-butyllithium to provide soluble phosphanediides Li2 [RP⋅BH3 ] of which the phenyl-derivative Li2 [PhP⋅BH3 ] was structurally characterized in the solid state.

Abstract
We herein describe the syntheses and characterization of extended germa[N]pericyclynes, which are macrocycles composed of germanium-butadiyne units. The obtained novel extended germa[4]-[8]pericyclynes were characterized by X-ray crystallography, UV-Vis spectroscopy, fluorescence and phosphorescence emission spectroscopy, and cyclic voltammetry, and exhibited characteristic absorptions and emissions. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations suggested smaller HOMO-LUMO gap energy compared to that of general germapericyclynes.

Abstract
The stepwise syntheses of germa[N]pericyclynes, including [5]pericyclynes, and their characterization are described. The yields of germa[4] and [8]pericyclynes were improved significantly compared to those obtained in previous studies. The routes reported herein afforded the novel germa[5] and [10]pericyclynes, which were characterized by X-ray crystallography, UV-Vis spectroscopy, and fluorescence emission spectroscopy. A unique fluorescence emission was observed for the large germa[10]pericyclyne ring.

Abstract
1,2-Bis(N,N-dimethyl-aminochlorophosphanyl)-1,2-dicarba-closo-dodecaborane(12) reacts with lithiated phenylacetylene to give a carbaboranyl-based phosphane, while alkynylchlorophosphanes and dilithiated carbaborane give bis(alkynylphosphanyl)carbaboranes.

Abstract
The reactivity of bis-TMS-substituted C,C-diacetylenic phosphaalkene (A(2)PA) 1 in Sonogashira-Hagihara cross-coupling reactions has been examined. The selective and successive deprotection of the two silyl groups in 1 is enabled by the steric bulk of the Mes* group which renders the acetylene trans to Mes* more reactive and thereby facilitates selective and consecutive couplings with iodoarenes. In situ transformation of the TMS-protected acetylenes into Cu(i)acetylides is the key step in the synthetic sequence and enables the preparation of the first dimeric A(2)PA linked by a phenylene spacer. cis-trans Isomerization across the P[double bond, length as m-dash]C bond is triggered by a tertiary amine and exclusively observed in the case of nitrophenyl-substituted A(2)PAs. The introduced aryl groups are integral parts of the entire π-system as evidenced by spectroscopic and electrochemical studies.
