Abstract
Ionic liquids (ILs) have unique physicochemical properties that make them advantageous for catalysis, such as low vapor pressure, non-flammability, high thermal and chemical stabilities, and the ability to enhance the activity and stability of (bio)catalysts. ILs can improve the efficiency, selectivity, and sustainability of bio(transformations) by acting as activators of enzymes, selectively dissolving substrates and products, and reducing toxicity. They can also be recycled and reused multiple times without losing their effectiveness. ILs based on imidazolium cation are preferred for structural organization aspects, with a semiorganized layer surrounding the catalyst. ILs act as a container, providing a confined space that allows modulation of electronic and geometric effects, miscibility of reactants and products, and residence time of species. ILs can stabilize ionic and radical species and control the catalytic activity of dynamic processes. Supported IL phase (SILP) derivatives and polymeric ILs (PILs) are good options for molecular engineering of greener catalytic processes. The major factors governing metal, photo-, electro-, and biocatalysts in ILs are discussed in detail based on the vast literature available over the past two and a half decades. Catalytic reactions, ranging from hydrogenation and cross-coupling to oxidations, promoted by homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysts in both single and multiphase conditions, are extensively reviewed and discussed considering the knowledge accumulated until now.

Abstract
Hiyama cross-coupling is a versatile reaction in synthetic organic chemistry for the construction of carbon-carbon bonds. It involves the coupling of organosilicons with organic halides using transition metal catalysts in good yields and high enantioselectivities. In recent years, hectic progress has been made by researchers toward the synthesis of diversified natural products and pharmaceutical drugs using the Hiyama coupling reaction. This review emphasizes the recent synthetic developments and applications of Hiyama cross-coupling.

Abstract
Herein, we studied a single-pot method with a dual catalysis process towards the conversion of primary aromatic alcohols to amides using ultrasmall PdNPs of controlled uniform size (1.8 nm) inside hybrid mesoporous organosilica nanotubes (MO-NTs). The catalyst exhibited excellent performance in water under mild conditions and showed high stability. The catalytic activity towards the tandem oxidation of alcohols in the presence of amine salts and H2O2 to their corresponding amides without producing byproducts was evaluated, and high yields were obtained for all products. The structure of the organosilica nanotubes containing palladium nanoparticles was investigated using various characterization techniques such as XRD, TEM, BET, solid-state 29Si NMR and solid-state 13C CP MAS NMR. Catalyst recycling tests showed that the catalytic power of PdNPs@B-SNTs was preserved after 8 cycles and a slight decrease in catalyst activity was observed.

Abstract
The unique properties of N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) as an effective ligand for palladium catalytic centers have recently found much attention. In this work, Fe3O4 nanoparticle supported palladium(II)-N-heterocyclic carbene catalyst was successfully designed, synthesized and characterized by various methods. The activity of the catalyst was evaluated in the Mizoroki-Heck cross-coupling reaction in which the desired products were obtained in high yield in H2O as a green solvent. The reaction was carried out in short reaction times using low amounts of the catalyst. Moreover, the catalyst was easily separated from the reaction media and reused for 5 cycles.

Abstract
Ionic liquids (ILs) are considered as highly useful materials for potential diverse uses such as greener and more convenient alternatives to volatile organic solvents, reagents, additives, ligands and co-solvents. Thermal stability, negligible vapor pressure and high polarity with ionic environments have possibly conferred some unique physico-chemical properties and a wider electrochemical window on ILs. More importantly, these properties are tuneable, depending on variations in alkyl chains and counter-anions. On the other hand, various transition-metal-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions constitute an important backbone of contemporary organic synthesis. A vast number of C-C and C-heteroatom cross-coupling reactions are reported in the presence of ILs, often showing better performance. The influence of IL on the action of a given catalyst or on the course of a reaction can be relatively complex, and is not understood well enough to be able to draw succinct conclusions. However, there are a few reports in the literature that help understand the role of actual and active catalytic species stabilized in an IL environment. Stabilization, which can be either helpful or detrimental to catalysis depends on specific circumstances. This review article is aimed primarily at summarizing the various applications of ILs during the past decade, focusing as far as possible on the task-specific properties of ILs in transition-metal-catalyzed C-C and C-heteroatom cross-coupling reactions. Several successful achievements and noteworthy progress in this field of research leads to the sensible conclusion that future prospects in this field of research are not only bright but promise new horizons.

Abstract
Nanoreactors are material structures with engineered internal cavities which create exclusive confined nanoscale surroundings for chemical reactions. The cavities of mesoporous silica SBA-15 can be used as nanoreactors for incorporating catalytic species such as metal nanoparticles, complexes etc. Since SBA-15 silica has a neutral framework, organic functional groups and heteroatoms have been embedded by direct or post-synthesis approaches in order to modify their functionality. Palladium is the most used transition metal for C-C bond formations. Because of the great importance of C-C coupling reactions, this review article aims at providing a deep insight into the state of art in the field of the synthesis and the application of mesoporous SBA-15 silica-supported Pd catalysts in C-C coupling transformations. In most cases, synthesis and modification of the catalyst, time and yield of reactions, recyclability and leaching of the Pd species from the SBA-15 support are discussed to reveal the role of SBA-15 in C-C coupling reactions.

Abstract
The lyotropic behavior of the ternary system formed by 1-tetradecyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride, 1-decanol, and water is investigated. A lamellar mesophase is formed for a wide range of compositions and is characterized by polarized optical microscopy, low-temperature scanning electron microscopy, small- and wide-angle X-ray scattering with synchrotron radiation, and differential scanning calorimetry. This phase presents onionlike structures. Two lamellar structures are formed: an Lα mesophase between 25 and 50 °C, with an isobaric thermal expansivity of the bilayer thickness of -3.2 × 10-3 K-1, and a lamellar gel phase, when the temperature decreases below 25 °C. This new medium is employed to perform in situ X-ray-initiated polymerization of N-isopropylacrylamide. When the monomer is incorporated in the lamellar structure, it is distributed between the water layer and bilayer interface and its polymerization can be followed by variations in the diffractograms with time.
