Abstract
Herein, we report the DNA interaction studies of rhenium(I) and -(V) compounds with Schiff base chelates encompassing biologically relevant moieties. More specifically, the DNA interaction capabilities of these rhenium complexes were probed using Gel Electrophoresis and Calf Thymus-DNA titrations monitored by temperature-controlled electronic spectroscopy. The DNA binding modes of the metal compounds were corroborated by molecular docking simulations. In addition, the synthesis and characterization of a novel facial tricarbonyl rhenium(I) compound, fac-[Re(chrs)(CO)3Br], (chrs = {3-{[(2-hydroxyphenyl)imino]methyl}-4H-chromen-4-one) are reported.

Abstract
A novel trisarylborane-Bi(III) complex, tris(4-(dimesitylboryl)phenyl)bismuthine [Bi(PhBMes2 )3 ], in which (Ph = phenyl, and Mes = mesityl), was synthesized via the reaction of bismuth (III) chloride (BiCl3 ) with three equivalents of lithiated (4-bromophenyl)- dimesitylborane [BrPhBMes2 ]. The new trisarylbismuthine was characterized by elemental analysis, ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis) spectroscopy, and NMR (1 H and 13 C) spectroscopy. The molecular structure of Bi(PhBMes2 )3 in the solid state was determined using single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis, which showed short intermolecular C-H···H-C contact. The complex is a fluorescent emitter (λmax = 395 nm) at room temperature and a phosphorescent emitter (λmax = 423 nm) at 77 K, which displayed a long lifetime of 495 ms. The UV-vis transitions were investigated using density function theory (DFT) and time-dependent (TD)-DFT calculations. Natural bond orbital analysis showed that the bismuth (III) center was mainly Lewis acidic in nature.

Abstract
Dissolution of M(CO)3(Br)(L(Ar)) [L(Ar) = (2,6-Cl2-C6H3-NCMe)2CH2] in either acetonitrile [M = Mn, Re] or benzonitrile (M = Re) results in C-C coupling of the nitrile to the diimine ligand. When reacted with acetonitrile, the intermediate adduct [M(CO)3(NCCH3)(L(Ar))]Br forms and undergoes an intramolecular C-C coupling reaction between the nitrile carbon and the methylene carbon of the β-diimine ligand.
