A near-infrared xanthene-based fluorescent probe for selective detection of hydrazine and its application in living cells

Developing fluorescent probes for selective determination of the toxic and carcinogenic hydrazine are pretty significant. Herein, a rhodamine dye coupled to naphthalene was selected as a near-infrared fluorophore and acetyl group as a trigger unit for hydrazine sensing with a Stokes shifts of 62 nm. The probe showed about 77-fold NIR fluorescence enhancement in the presence of hydrazine. In addition, the detection limit was as low as 3.4 ppb, and the fluorescence intensity at 654 nm showed a satisfactory linearity with the concentration range of hydrazine from 0 to 120 μM. More importantly, the practical utility of probe has been successfully proved through the fluorescence bioimaging of hydrazine in living cells with low cytotoxicity and quantitative N₂H₄ detection in environmental water samples.

A novel ratiometric AIEE/ESIPT probe for palladium species detection with ultra-sensitivity

Existing fluorescent probes for palladium (Pd) species detection have revealed their vulnerabilities, such as low sensitivity, poor anti-interference ability and long reaction time. In order to develop a faster and more accurate detection method for palladium species at extremely low concentrations, in this study, we designed a novel ratiometric AIEE/ESIPT probe (HPNI-1) based on the Tsuji–Trost reaction for Pd. According to the data obtained, the probe was able to detect Pd species with an ultra-high anti-interference ability (Pd : other metals = 1 : 1000), rapid detection time (within 2 minute) and ratiometric fluorescent signal changes with a 1.34 nM detection limit. This study not only proves that existing methods can be improved but also provides future prospects for HPNI-1 as one of the greatest probes for Pd species detection.

A lysosome targetable fluorescent probe for palladium species detection base on an ESIPT phthalimide derivative

A novel lysosome-targetable phthalimide fluorescent probe was designed for detecting palladium based on ESIPT for signal transduction. The fluorescent probe conjugating with allylcarbamate displayed weak fluorescent due to the ESIPT process hinder by allylcarbamate. But with the addition of palladium, the ESIPT emission was recovery though the palladium-catalyzed deallylation reaction and the fluorescence intensity exhibited 40-fold enhancement at 511 nm. In addition, the probe showed excellent selectivity, high sensitivity, fast responds and low limit detection for palladium with a larger Stoke-shift. Moreover, the targetable probe was also successfully applied for detecting palladium in lysosomes of living cells. Hence, the probe though ESIPT modulation is a promising for monitoring palladium in practical samples.
