Abstract
Two novel cellulose and amylose derivatives bearing bulky tris(2-benzothienylformate) pendants (Cel-3 and Amy-3) were expeditiously prepared by one-step esterification. The fluorescent sensing performance of six polysaccharide derivatives, including Cel-3/Amy-3, and other four previously prepared benzothienyl- or benzofuranyl-phenylcarbamates of cellulose and amylose (Cel-1/Amy-1, Cel-2/Amy-2), were carefully evaluated using eight metal ions, including Co2+, K+, Na+, Li+, Hg2+, Ni2+, Ca2+ and Fe3+. All six derivatives exhibited excellent fluorescence quenching property to Fe3+ ions with high sensitivity and selectivity. Especially, the limit of detection of Amy-2 with benzofuranylphenylcarbamates for Fe3+ was 3.0 μM, much lower than the maximum contaminant level for Fe3+ in the drinking water. Additionally, the six bulky derivatives displayed the interesting fluorescence "turn-off" and "turn-on" observation, indicating a desirable reversibility for Fe3+ detection. The high anti-interference ability was also observed for detection of Fe3+ on the benzothienyl/benzofuranyl derivatives of cellulose and amylose in the combined system containing Co2+, K+, Na+, Li+, Hg2+, Ni2+ and Ca2+. It suggested that the obtained polysaccharide derivatives with bulky chromophores possessed good potentials for detection of Fe3+ as high-efficient fluorescent sensors in diverse applications. The sensing mechanism for detection of Fe3+ was further proposed based on the Stern-Volmer plots and fluorescence titration analysis.

Abstract
In this work, three Schiff-based fluorescent probes with aggregation-induced emission (AIE) and excited intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) characters were synthesized by grafting 2-aminobenzothiazole group onto 4-substituted salicylaldehydes. More important, a rare tri-responsive fluorescent probe (SN-Cl) was developed by purposeful variation of substituents in the molecule. It could selectively identify Pb2+, Ag+ and Fe3+ in different solvent systems or with the help of masking agent and show complete fluorescence enhancement without interference of other ions. Meanwhile, the other two probes (SN-ON and SN-N) could only recognize Pb2+ in DMSO/Tris-HCl buffer (3: 7, v/v, pH = 7.4). According to Job's plot, density functional theory (DFT) calculations and NMR analysis, coordination between SN-Cl and Pb2+/Ag+/Fe3+ was determined. The LOD values for three ions were as low as 0.059 μM, 0.012 μM and 8.92 μM, respectively. Ideally, SN-Cl showed satisfactory performance in real water samples detection and test paper experiments for three ions. Also, SN-Cl could be used as an excellent imaging agent for Fe3+ in HeLa cells. Therefore, SN-Cl has the ability to be a "single fluorescent probe for three targets".

Abstract
By rational assembly of polytorsional-amide [N,N′-bis(4-methylenepyridin-4-yl)-1,4-naphthalene dicarboxamide (L)] and polytorsional-carboxylates [H2ADI = adipic acid, H2PIM = pimelic acid, H2SUB = suberic acid], three new Cd-based coordination polymers (CPs) C30H30CdN4O7 (1), C31H32CdN4O7 (2) and C31.03H30.55CdCl0.24N4O5.52 (3) were successfully synthesized. CPs 1–2 and 3 are 2D networks and a 3D framework, which all display 3,5-connected topologies with different structural details. The effects of carboxylates with different carbon chains on the structure of the complexes were studied. Fluorescence experiments show that CPs 1–3 have good multi-functional sensing ability for metal cations (Fe3+), anions (MnO4−, CrO42−, Cr2O72−) and organochlorine pesticides (2,6-dichloro-4-nitroamine) with good anti-interference and recyclable characteristics. The possible sensing mechanism is also investigated in detail. Abstract
Background:
Dichromate (Cr2O7
2-) ion is one of the carcinogenic and toxic spices in
environment which can easily contaminate the environment due to its high solubility in water. Therefore,
a lot of attention has been focused on the detection of Cr2O7
2- with high sensitivity and selectivity.
Methods:
In present work, nitrogen-rich precursor was used for synthesizing graphitic carbon nitride
(g-C3N4) nanostructures through hydrothermal oxidation of g-C3N4 nanosheets. The prepared
nanostructures show two distinct fluorescence emissions centered at 368 and 450 nm which are highly
sensitive toward Cr2O7
2- ions.
Results:
The as-prepared g-C3N4 was characterized by several techniques such as Fourier-Transform
Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), X-ray Diffraction (XRD) and
fluorescence emission spectra. The XRD pattern of prepared nanostructures illustrated two diffraction
patterns (at 13.4° and 27.6°) indicating tri-s-tri-azine-based structures. The g-C3N4 exhibited good selectivity
and sensitivity toward Cr2O7
2- among other anions. According to titration test, the detection
limit and stern-volmer constant (Ksv) were calculated as 40 nM and 0.13×106 M-1, respectively. The
investigation of quenching mechanism shows that Cr2O7
2- may form hydrogen bonding with surface
groups of g-C3N4 (such as NH2, OH and COOH) resulted in more fluorescence quenching in comparison
with the pure inner filter effect.
Conclusion:
The g-C3N4 nanostructures were successfully synthesized through the hydrothermal oxidation.
The as-prepared g-C3N4 can be used as a highly sensitive fluorescent probe for the selective
determination of Cr2O7
2 ion among other anions. The quenching mechanism was experimentally studied.
According to reliable responses in real sample tests, it can be proposed that g-C3N4 nanostructure
is a suitable sensitive nanosensor for detection of Cr2O7
2 ions in aqueous media.

Abstract
The interaction between polyelectrolytes and metal ions is governed by different types of interactions, leading to the formation of different phases, from liquid state to weak gels, through an appropriate choice of metal ion/polyelectrolyte molar ratio. We have found that lanthanide ions, europium(III) and terbium(III), are able to form polymer composites with poly(sodium acrylate). That interaction enhances the luminescent properties of europium(III) and terbium(III), showing that Eu3+/poly(sodium acrylate) (PSA) and Tb3+/PSA composites have a highly intense red and green emission, respectively. The effect of cations with different valences on the luminescent properties of the polymer composites is analyzed. The presence of metal ions tends to quench the composite emission intensity and the quenching process depends on the cation, with copper(II) being by far the most efficient quencher. The interaction mechanism between lanthanoid ions and PSA is also discussed. The composites and their interactions with a wide range of cations and anions are fully characterized through stationary and non-stationary fluorescence, high resolution scanning electronic microscopy and X-ray diffraction.

Abstract
A novel three-dimensional coordination polymer, namely, poly[[diaquabis(μ-4,4'-bipyridine)bis{μ3-5-[(2-carboxyphenoxy)methyl]isophthalato}tricadmium(III)] dimethylformamide monosolvate 2.5-hydrate], {[Cd3(C16H9O7)2(C10H8N2)2(H2O)2]·2C3H7NO·5H2O}n, was obtained by the reaction of ether-linked 5-[(2-carboxyphenoxy)methyl]isophthalic acid (H3L) with CdII salts in the presence of 4,4'-bipyridine (bpy) under solvothermal conditions. In this complex, the CdII centres are connected by the carboxylate ligands to form two-dimensional wave-like layers, which are pillared by bpy ligands and extended into a rare three-dimensional (3,6)-connected sqc27 framework. The complex demonstrated good water stability and strong luminescence emissions. It not only possesses excellent luminescence sensing activities toward Fe3+ and Cr2O72- in aqueous solution, but can also distinguish between Cr2O72- and CrO42- by luminescence. Furthermore, it could be simply and quickly regenerated at least five times. A study of the sensing mechanism indicated that luminescence quenching may be related to the energy competition between the complex and sensing analytes.

Abstract
Two series of lanthanide metal-organic frameworks (Ln-MOFs) from two structurally related flexible carboxylate-based ligands were solvothermally synthesized. H3L2 with additional -CH2- group provides more flexibility and different coordination modes and conformations compared with H3L1. As a result, 2-Ln MOFs are modulated from two-dimensional kgd of 1-Ln to three-dimensional rtl topological frameworks and further achieve enhanced chemical stability. The Eu- and Tb-MOFs exhibit strong fluorescent emission at the solid state because of the antenna effect of the ligands. Interestingly, the emissions can be tuned by simply doping Eu3+ and Tb3+ of different concentrations within the Eu xTb1- x MOFs. Notably, 2-Ln MOFs realize nearly white light emission by means of a trichromatic approach (red of Eu(III), green of Tb(III), and blue of the H3L2 ligand). Furthermore, 2-Ln MOFs also exhibit water stability and demonstrate high selective and sensitive sensing activities toward Fe(III) and Cr(VI) in aqueous solutions. The results further highlight the importance of the ligand flexibility on tuning MOF structures with improved structural stability and ion-sensing properties.
