Abstract
BACKGROUND Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a disease characterized by chronic relapsing-remitting inflammatory disorders and is associated with environmental changes. AIM To explore the disease patterns of Chinese UC patients and to determine controllable related environmental factors. METHODS This multicentre cross-sectional study was performed using a questionnaire survey. Data on clinical characteristics and environmental factors were collected. Patients with a disease course ≥5 years were defined as the long course group, and those with a disease course < 5 years were defined as the short course group. RESULTS A total of 588 effective questionnaires were collected. The proportion of the chronic continuous pattern was the highest among patients with a long disease course (46.8%), and in patients with a short disease course, the proportion of the active to remission pattern was the highest (53.3%). In patients with a long disease course, a higher proportion of patients with adequate sleep was found in the active to remission pattern than in the chronic intermittent (72.1% vs. 43.3%, p = 0.008) and chronic continuous (72.1% vs. 52.4%, p = 0.016) patterns. In patients with a short disease course, the frequency of shellfish and shrimp was higher in the chronic continuous pattern group than in the active to remission pattern group (P = 0.001 and 0.017 respectively). CONCLUSIONS For early diagnosis patients, dietary guidance should be actively carried out. With the prolongation of the disease course, attention should be given to the sleep quality of patients.

Abstract
AIMS To comprehensively examine the prevailing condition of care dependence among middle-aged individuals who have experienced hemiplegia subsequent to a stroke and were currently undergoing post-acute rehabilitation. Additionally, the study sought to analyse the determinants that impacted this phenomenon. DESIGN A single-centre, cross-sectional study design. METHODS During the period from January 2020 to October 2022, a cohort of 196 hemiplegic stroke patients, aged between 40 and 65, and within 6 months of their stroke onset, was selected from the cerebrovascular outpatient clinic at a tertiary hospital in Hangzhou. The demographic and disease-related data, care dependence level, mental state, nutrition and depression status were collected. Furthermore, all collected data were analysed by descriptive and correlative statistical methods. RESULTS The care dependence level was 51.04 ± 9.42, with an incidence of care dependence of 78.1%. Multivariate regression analysis showed that age, history of falls, physical dysfunction, chronic comorbidities, depression, nutritional status and cognitive dysfunction were influencing factors for care dependence in the participants after a stroke. CONCLUSION The incidence of care dependence among hemiplegic patients aged from 40 to 65 years old in the early stage after a stroke was high. Nursing staff should focus on these patients with a history of falling, physical dysfunction, comorbidity, depression status, nutritional status and cognitive dysfunction in clinical practice. RELEVANCE TO CLINICAL PRACTICE The incidence of care dependence in middle-aged hemiplegic patients following a stroke is significantly increased. Some risk factors should be assessed, monitored, and controlled by nursing staff as early as possible in order to reduce the dependence levels in post-acute rehabilitation period and improve the quality of life of hemiplegia patients. Abstract
This study aimed to investigate the effect of soil pH change, and nitrogen amendment on ammonia oxidiser abundance and comammox Nitrospira community composition. The experimental design used soil mesocosms placed in a temperature-controlled incubator for 90 days. A Templeton silt loam was used as its physiochemical properties are typical of the region's dairy farms. The results showed that comammox Nitrospira clade B preferred the natural (pH 6.1-6.2) soil pH with no applied nitrogen. Furthermore, synthetic urine (N700) decreased the abundance of comammox Nitrospira clade B. This may have been because the large amounts of available ammonia in the N700 treatments inhibited the growth of comammox Nitrospira. These results suggest that while comammox Nitrospira clade B are present in New Zealand dairy farm soils, but their role in nitrification in the very high nitrogen environment under a urine patch in grazed pastures may be limited. Further research is needed to confirm this. In contrast to comammox, the AOB community (dominated by Nitrosospira) responded positively to the application of synthetic urine. The response was greatest in the high pH soil (7.1), followed by the natural and then the low pH (4.9) soils. This may be due to the difference in ammonia availability. At high pH, the ammonia/ammonium equilibrium favours ammonia production. Calculated ammonia availability in the N700 treatments accurately predicted the AOB amoA gene abundance. Interestingly, the AOA community abundance (which was predominantly made up of Thaumarchaeota group I.1b clade E) seemed to prefer the natural and high pH soils over the low pH. This may be due to the specific lineage of AOA present. AOA did not respond to the application of nitrogen.

Abstract
Parkinson's Disease (PD) is characterized by the loss of dopaminergic neurons, with ferroptosis playing a significant role. Salidroside (SAL) has shown neuroprotective potential, this study aims to explore its capacity to mitigate ferroptosis in PD, focusing on the modulation of the Nuclear Factor E2-Related Factor 2 (Nrf2)/ Glutathione Peroxidase 4 (GPX4) pathway. Male C57BL/6 mice were subjected to 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP) to induce PD-like symptoms, followed by SAL and Nrf2 inhibitor administration. Then behavioral tests, immunohistochemical staining, transmission electron microscopy, and Western blot analysis were conducted to assess motor functions, pathological changes, ferroptosis, and related protein expressions. In vitro, SH-SY5Y cells were treated with erastin to induce ferroptosis to assess the protective effects of SAL. Additionally, A53T-α-synuclein (α-syn) was used to stimulate the PD model, SAL and a Nrf2 inhibitor (ML385) was utilized to elucidate the role of the Nrf2/GPX4 pathway in mitigating ferroptosis in PD. In vivo, SAL significantly improved motor functions and reduced the expression of α-syn, while increasing tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) expression of PD mice. Additionally, SAL treatment notably enhanced the levels of antioxidants and reduced MDA and iron content in the substantia nigra of PD mice. In vitro, SAL treatment increased the TH, GPX4, Nrf2 expression, and mitochondrial membrane potential whereas alleviated ferroptosis through the Nrf2/GPX4 pathway, as evidenced in erastin-induced and α-syn overexpressing SH-SY5Y cells. While these effects were reversed upon Nrf2 inhibition. SAL demonstrates significant potential in mitigating PD pathology and ferroptosis, positioning the Nrf2/GPX4 pathway as a promising therapeutic target. However, future studies should focus on the long-term effects of SAL, its pharmacokinetics, addressing the multifactorial nature of PD pathogenesis.

Abstract
This article delves into the distributed resilient output containment control of heterogeneous multiagent systems against composite attacks, including Denial-of-Service (DoS) attacks, false-data injection (FDI) attacks, camouflage attacks, and actuation attacks. Inspired by digital twin technology, a twin layer (TL) with higher security and privacy is employed to decouple the above problem into two tasks: 1) defense protocols against DoS attacks on TL and 2) defense protocols against actuation attacks on the cyber-physical layer (CPL). Initially, considering modeling errors of leader dynamics, distributed observers are introduced to reconstruct the leader dynamics for each follower on TL under DoS attacks. Subsequently, distributed estimators are utilized to estimate follower states based on the reconstructed leader dynamics on the TL. Then, decentralized solvers are designed to calculate the output regulator equations on CPL by using the reconstructed leader dynamics. Simultaneously, decentralized adaptive attack-resilient control schemes are proposed to resist unbounded actuation attacks on the CPL. Furthermore, the aforementioned control protocols are applied to demonstrate that the followers can achieve uniformly ultimately bounded (UUB) convergence, with the upper bound of the UUB convergence being explicitly determined. Finally, we present a simulation example and an experiment to show the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Gastrointestinal tumors bleeding remains a significantly clinical challenge due to its resistance to conventional endoscopic hemostasis methods. While the efficacy of endoscopic tissue adhesives (ETA) in variceal bleeding has been established, its role in gastrointestinal tumor bleeding (GITB) remains ambiguous. AIMS This study aims to assess the feasibility and effectiveness of ETA in the treatment of GITB. METHODS The study enrolled 30 patients with GITB who underwent hemostasis through Histoacryl® tissue glue injection. Hemostasis success rates, ETA-related adverse events, and re-bleeding rates were evaluated. RESULTS ETA application achieved successful hemostasis at all tumor bleeding sites, with immediate hemostasis observed in all 30 (100.0%) patients. Among the initially hemostasis cases, 5 patients (17.0%) experienced re-bleeding within 30 days, and the 60 day re-bleeding rate was 20.0% (6/30). Expect for one case of vascular embolism, no adverse events related with ETA application were reported. The 6 month survival was 93%. CONCLUSION ETA demonstrated excellent immediate hemostasis success rate in GITB cases and showed promising outcomes in prevention re-bleeding.

Abstract
Protein-ligand binding affinity prediction plays an important role in the field of drug discovery. Existing deep learning-based approaches have significantly improved the efficiency of protein-ligand binding affinity prediction through their excellent inductive bias capability. However, these methods only focus on fragmented three-dimensional data, which truncates the integrity of pocket data, leading to the neglect of potential long-range interactions. In this paper, we propose a dual-stream framework, with amino acid sequence assisting the atomic data fusion for graph neural network (termed SadNet), to fuse both 3D atomic data and sequence data for more accurate prediction results. In detail, SadNet consists of a pocket module and a sequence module. The sequence module expands the "receptive field" of the pocket module through a mid-term virtual node fusion. To better integrate sequence-level information from the sequence module and 3D structural information from the pocket module, we incorporate structural information for each amino acid within the sequence module. Besides, to better understand the intrinsic relationship between sequences and 3D atomic information, our SadNet utilizes information stacking from both the early stage and later stage. Experimental results on publicly available benchmark datasets demonstrate the superiority of the proposed dual-stream approach over the state-of-the-art alternatives. Abstract
BACKGROUND Oral leukoplakia (OLK) is a prevalent precancerous lesion with limited non-pharmacological treatment options. Surgery and various lasers are the mainstay of treatment; however, their relative efficacy and optimal choice remain unclear. This first network meta-analysis compared the effects of different lasers and surgical excision on post-treatment recurrence and comfort in OLK patients. METHODS We searched four databases for relevant randomized controlled trials (RCTs) up to April 2023. The primary outcome was post-treatment recurrence, and secondary outcomes included intraoperative hemorrhage and postoperative pain scores. The Cochrane Risk of Bias tool was used to assess the study quality. Meta-analysis and network meta-analysis were employed to determine efficacy and identify the optimal intervention. RESULTS A total of 11 RCTs including 917 patients and 1138 lesions were included. Er,Cr:YSGG laser treatment showed significantly lower recurrence rates compared to CO2 laser (OR: 0.04; 95% CI: 0.01-0.18), CO2 laser with margin extension (OR: 0.06; 95% CI: 0.01-0.60), Er:YAG laser (OR: 0.10; 95% CI: 0.03-0.37), electrocautery (OR: 0.03; 95% CI: 0.00-0.18), and standard care (OR: 0.08; 95% CI: 0.02-0.33). Er,Cr:YSGG laser also ranked the best for reducing recurrence, followed by standard care and CO2 laser combined with photodynamic therapy (PDT). Er:YAG and Er:Cr:YSGG lasers minimized bleeding and pain, respectively. None of the interventions caused severe adverse effects. CONCLUSION For non-homogeneous OLK, Er:YAG, Er:Cr:YSGG, and CO2 laser combined with PDT offer promising alternatives to surgical excision, potentially reducing recurrence and improving patient comfort. Further high-quality RCTs are necessary to confirm these findings and determine the optimal laser-PDT combination for OLK treatment.

Abstract
BACKGROUND. Breast cancer HER2 expression has been redefined using a three-tiered system, with HER2-zero cancers considered ineligible for HER2-targeted therapy, HER2-low cancers considered candidates for novel HER2-targeted drugs, and HER2-positive cancers treated with traditional HER2-targeted medications. OBJECTIVE. The purpose of this study was to assess MRI radiomics models for a three-tiered classification of HER2 expression of breast cancer. METHODS. This retrospective study included 592 patients with pathologically confirmed breast cancer (mean age, 47.0 ± 18.0 [SD] years) who underwent breast MRI at either of a health system's two hospitals from April 2016 through June 2022. Three-tiered HER2 status was pathologically determined. Radiologists assessed the conventional MRI features of tumors and manually segmented the tumors on multiparametric sequences (T2-weighted images, DWI, ADC maps, and T1-weighted delayed contrast-enhanced images) to extract radiomics features. Least absolute shrinkage and selection operator analysis was used to develop two radiomics signatures, to differentiate HER2-zero cancers from HER2-low or HER2-positive cancers (task 1) as well as to differentiate HER2-low cancers from HER2-positive cancers (task 2). Patients from hospital 1 were randomly assigned to a discovery set (task 1: n = 376; task 2: n = 335) or an internal validation set (task 1: n = 161; task 2: n = 143); patients from hospital 2 formed an external validation set (task 1: n = 55; task 2: n = 50). Multivariable logistic regression analysis was used to create nomograms combining radiomics signatures with clinicopathologic and conventional MRI features. RESULTS. AUC, sensitivity, and specificity in the discovery, internal validation, and external validation sets were as follows: for task 1, 0.89, 99.4%, and 69.0%; 0.86, 98.6%, and 76.5%; and 0.78, 100.0%, and 0.0%, respectively; for task 2, 0.77, 93.8%, and 32.3%; 0.75, 92.9%, and 6.8%; and 0.77, 97.0%, and 29.4%, respectively. For task 1, no nomogram was created because no clinicopathologic or conventional MRI feature was associated with HER2 status independent of the MRI radiomics signature. For task 2, a nomogram including an MRI radiomics signature and three pathologic features (histologic grade of III, high Ki-67 index, and positive progesterone receptor status) that were independently associated with HER2-low expression had an AUC of 0.87, 0.83, and 0.80 in the three sets. CONCLUSION. MRI radiomics features were used to differentiate HER2-zero from HER2-low cancers or HER2-positives cancers as well as to differentiate HER2-low cancers from HER2-positive cancers. CLINICAL IMPACT. MRI radiomics may help select patients for novel or traditional HER2-targeted therapies, particularly those patients with ambiguous results of immunohistochemical staining results or limited access to fluorescence in situ hybridization.

Abstract
Magnetic skyrmions are promising as next-generation information units. Their antiparticle-the antiskyrmion-has also been discovered in chiral magnets. Here we experimentally demonstrate antiskyrmion sliding in response to a pulsed electric current at room temperature without the requirement of an external magnetic field. This is realized by embedding antiskyrmions in helical stripe domains, which naturally provide one-dimensional straight tracks along which antiskyrmion sliding can be easily launched with low current density and without transverse deflection from the antiskyrmion Hall effect. The higher mobility of the antiskyrmions in the background of helical stripes in contrast to the typical ferromagnetic state is a result of intrinsic material parameters and elastic energy of the stripe domain, thereby smearing out the random pinning potential, as supported by micromagnetic simulations. The demonstration and comprehensive understanding of antiskyrmion movement along naturally straight tracks offers a new perspective for (anti)skyrmion application in spintronics.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES The relationship between cognitive function and frailty in moyamoya disease (MMD) remains unclear, and the underlying mechanism is poorly understood. This study aims to investigate whether white matter hyperintensities (WMHs) mediate the association between frailty and cognitive impairment in MMD. METHODS Patients with MMD were consecutively enrolled in our study from January 2021 to May 2023. Pre-admission frailty and cognition were assessed using the Clinical Frailty Scale (CFS) and cognitive tests, respectively. Regional deep WMH (DWMH) and periventricular WMH (PWMH) volumes were calculated using the Brain Anatomical Analysis using Diffeomorphic deformation toolbox based on SPM 12 software. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was conducted to evaluate the association between frailty and cognitive function in MMD. Mediation analysis was performed to assess whether WMHs explained the association between frailty and cognition. RESULTS A total of 85 patients with MMD were enrolled in this study. On the basis of the CFS scores, 24 patients were classified as frail, 38 as pre-frail, and 23 as robust. Significant differences were observed in learning, memory, processing speed, executive functions, and semantic memory among the three groups (p < 0.001). Frailty was independently associated with memory and executive functions (p < 0.05); even after controlling for WMH. Mediation analysis indicated that the associations of frailty with memory and executive functions were partially mediated by WMH, DWMH, and PWMH (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION Frailty is significantly correlated with a higher risk of cognitive impairment in MMD, even after adjusting for other covariates. WMHs partially mediate the association between frailty and cognitive impairment.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Thyroid surgery involves the partial or complete removal of the thyroid gland and is a frequently performed surgical procedure. The adoption of robots, equipped with flexible and stable operating systems, has garnered acceptance among numerous surgeons for their capability to enable precise anatomical dissection in thyroid surgery. To gain a comprehensive insight into the present research landscape of robot-assisted thyroid surgery, this paper endeavored to conduct a thorough analysis of the field through bibliometric analysis. METHODS Relevant literature pertaining to robot-assisted thyroid surgery was retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection (WOSCC) database, spanning from the inception of WOSCC to October 17, 2022. Visual analyses of publication quantity, distribution across countries/regions, institutions/organizations, authorship, journals, references, and keywords were conducted using Microsoft Excel, the bibliometrix package in R, Citescape, and VOSviewer software. RESULTS A total of 505 articles from 406 institutions in 36 countries/regions were included. South Korea emerged with highest number of publications. Notably, Professor CHUNG WY from Yonsei University in South Korea and the journal "Surg Endosc" stood out with the most publications. The current research landscape indicated significant interest in endoscopic thyroidectomy, surgical procedures, and the axillary approach. In addition, transoral robotic thyroidectomy (TROT), and learning curve (LC) were recognized as research frontiers, representing potential future hotspots in this field. CONCLUSION This study marks the first bibliometric analysis of the literature on robot-assisted thyroid surgery. The results highlight endoscopic thyroidectomy, surgical procedures, and the axillary approach as current research hotspots, with TROT and LC identified as potential future research hotspots.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To determine the value of conventional DWI, continuous-time random walk (CTRW), fractional order calculus (FROC), and stretched exponential model (SEM) in discriminating human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) status of breast cancer (BC). METHODS This prospective study included 158 women who underwent DWI, CTRW, FROC, and SEM and were pathologically categorized into the HER2-zero-expressing group (n = 10), HER2-low-expressing group (n = 86), and HER2-overexpressing group (n = 62). Nine diffusion parameters, namely ADC, αCTRW, βCTRW, DCTRW, βFROC, DFROC, μFROC, αSEM, and DDCSEM of the primary tumor, were derived from four diffusion models. These diffusion metrics and clinicopathologic features were compared between groups. Logistic regression was used to determine the optimal diffusion metrics and clinicopathologic variables for classifying the HER2-expressing statuses. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were used to evaluate their discriminative ability. RESULTS The estrogen receptor (ER) status, progesterone receptor (PR) status, and tumor size differed between HER2-low-expressing and HER2-overexpressing groups (p < 0.001 to p = 0.009). The αCTRW, DCTRW, βFROC, DFROC, μFROC, αSEM, and DDCSEM were significantly lower in HER2-low-expressing BCs than those in HER2-overexpressing BCs (p < 0.001 to p = 0.01). Further multivariable logistic regression analysis showed that the αCTRW was the single best discriminative metric, with an area under the curve (AUC) being higher than that of ADC (0.802 vs. 0.610, p < 0.05); the addition of ER status, PR status, and tumor size to the αCTRW improved the AUC to 0.877. CONCLUSIONS The αCTRW could help discriminate the HER2-low-expressing and HER2-overexpressing BCs. CLINICAL RELEVANCE STATEMENT Human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-low-expressing breast cancer (BC) might also benefit from the HER2-targeted therapy. Prediction of HER2-low-expressing BC or HER2-overexpressing BC is crucial for appropriate management. Advanced continuous-time random walk diffusion MRI offers a solution to this clinical issue. KEY POINTS • Human epidermal receptor 2 (HER2)-low-expressing BC had lower αCTRW, DCTRW, βFROC, DFROC, μFROC, αSEM, and DDCSEM values compared with HER2-overexpressing breast cancer. • The αCTRW was the single best diffusion metric (AUC = 0.802) for discrimination between the HER2-low-expressing and HER2-overexpressing breast cancers. • The addition of αCTRW to the clinicopathologic features (estrogen receptor status, progesterone receptor status, and tumor size) further improved the discriminative ability.

Abstract
Circadian rhythm is an internal timing system and harmonizes a variety of cellular, behavioral, and physiological processes to daily environment. Circadian disturbance caused by altered life style or disrupted sleep patterns inevitably contributes to various disorders. As the rapidly increased cancer occurrences and subsequent tremendous financial burdens, more researches focus on reducing the morbidity rather than treating it. Recently, many epidemiologic studies demonstrated that circadian disturbance was tightly related to the occurrence and development of cancers. For urinary system, numerous clinical researches observed the incidence and progress of prostate cancer were influenced by nightshift work, sleep duration, chronotypes, light exposure, and meal timing, this was also proved by many genetic and fundamental findings. Although the epidemiological studies regarding the relationship between circadian disturbance and kidney/bladder cancers were relative limited, some basic researches still claimed circadian disruption was closely correlated to these two cancers. The role of circadian chemotherapy on cancers of prostate, kidney, and bladder were also explored, however, it has not been regularly recommended considering the limited evidence and poor standard protocols. Finally, the researches for the impacts of circadian disturbance on cancers of adrenal gland, penis, testis were not found at present. In general, a better understanding the relationship between circadian disturbance and urological cancers might help to provide more scientific work schedules and rational lifestyles which finally saving health resource by reducing urological tumorigenesis, however, the underlying mechanisms are complex which need further exploration.

Abstract
The prevalence of Crohn's disease (CD), a subtype of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), is increasing worldwide. The pathogenesis of CD is hypothesized to be related to environmental, genetic, immunological, and bacterial factors. Current studies have indicated that intestinal epithelial cells, including columnar, Paneth, M, tuft, and goblet cells dysfunctions, are strongly associated with these pathogenic factors. In particular, goblet cells dysfunctions have been shown to be related to CD pathogenesis by direct or indirect ways, according to the emerging studies. The mucus barrier was established with the help of mucins secreted by goblet cells. Not only do the mucins mediate the mucus barrier permeability and bacterium selection, but also, they are closely linked with the endothelial reticulum stress during the synthesis process. Goblet cells also play a vital role in immune response. It was indicated that goblet cells take part in the antigen presentation and cytokines secretion process. Disrupted goblet cells related immune process were widely discovered in CD patients. Meanwhile, dysbiosis of commensal and pathogenic microbiota can induce myriad immune responses through mucus and goblet cell-associated antigen passage. Microbiome dysbiosis lead to inflammatory reaction against pathogenic bacteria and abnormal tolerogenic response. All these three pathways, including the loss of mucus barrier function, abnormal immune reaction, and microbiome dysbiosis, may have independent or cooperative effect on the CD pathogenesis. However, many of the specific mechanisms underlying these pathways remain unclear. Based on the current understandings of goblet cell's role in CD pathogenesis, substances including butyrate, PPARγagonist, Farnesoid X receptor agonist, nuclear factor-Kappa B, nitrate, cytokines mediators, dietary and nutrient therapies were all found to have potential therapeutic effects on CD by regulating the goblet cells mediated pathways. Several monoclonal antibodies already in use for the treatment of CD in the clinical settings were also found to have some goblet cells related therapeutic targets. In this review, we introduce the disease-related functions of goblet cells, their relationship with CD, their possible mechanisms, and current CD treatments targeting goblet cells.

Abstract
Assessing the impact of transforming resource-based cities (RBCs) through scientific evaluation is a crucial approach to gauge the efficacy of implementation of national locational policies. Drawing upon panel data encompassing 113 RBCs over the period 2006 to 2020, this study employs the difference-in-differences (DID) model to systematically evaluate the impact of location-oriented policies, represented by the "National Resource-Based Economic Transformation Comprehensive Supporting Reform Pilot Zone" (CRPZ), on the trajectory of green transition development (GTD) within RBCs. The results indicate, firstly, that the CRPZ has facilitated the GTD of RBCs, and a series of robustness tests confirm this conclusion, revealing a stimulating effect that evolves from initial suppression to subsequent promotion. Secondly, CRPZ can drive the GTD of RBCs by optimizing industrial structure and enhancing innovation capability, which shows that different marginal utilities are observed in its impact on the GTD of RBCs. Finally, the effectiveness of the CRPZ in promoting the GTD of RBCs is influenced by the degree of resource dependence, with a more pronounced impact on cities with higher levels of resource dependence. The conclusions of this study provide valuable insights for the ongoing evaluation of location-oriented policies and the promotion of GTD in RBCs.

Abstract
The evolution of oxygen cycles on Earth's surface has been regulated by the balance between molecular oxygen production and consumption. The Neoproterozoic-Paleozoic transition likely marks the second rise in atmospheric and oceanic oxygen levels, widely attributed to enhanced burial of organic carbon. However, it remains disputed how marine organic carbon production and burial respond to global environmental changes and whether these feedbacks trigger global oxygenation during this interval. Here, we report a large lithium isotopic and elemental dataset from marine mudstones spanning the upper Neoproterozoic to middle Cambrian [~660 million years ago (Ma) to 500 Ma]. These data indicate a dramatic increase in continental clay formation after ~525 Ma, likely linked to secular changes in global climate and compositions of the continental crust. Using a global biogeochemical model, we suggest that intensified continental weathering and clay delivery to the oceans could have notably increased the burial efficiency of organic carbon and facilitated greater oxygen accumulation in the earliest Paleozoic oceans.

Abstract
The Postural Instability/Gait Difficulty (PIGD) subtype of Parkinson's disease (PD) has a faster disease progression, a higher risk of cognitive and motor decline, yet the alterations of structural topological organization remain unknown. Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI) and 3D-TI scanning were conducted on 31 PD patients with PIGD (PD-PIGD), 30 PD patients without PIGD (PD-non-PIGD) and 35 Healthy Controls (HCs). Structural networks were constructed using DTI brain white matter fiber tractography. A graph theory approach was applied to characterize the topological properties of complex structural networks, and the relationships between significantly different network metrics and motor deficits were analyzed within the PD-PIGD group. PD-PIGD patients exhibited increased shortest path length compared with PD-non-PIGD and HCs (P < 0.05, respectively). Additionally, PD-PIGD patients exhibited decreased nodal properties, mainly in the cerebellar vermis, prefrontal cortex, paracentral lobule, and visual regions. Notably, the degree centrality of the cerebellar vermis was negatively correlated with the PIGD score (r = -0.390; P = 0.030) and Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale Part III score (r = -0.436; P = 0.014) in PD-PIGD patients. Furthermore, network-based statistical analysis revealed decreased structural connectivity between the prefrontal lobe, putamen, supplementary motor area, insula, and cingulate gyrus in PD-PIGD patients. Our findings demonstrated that PD-PIGD patients existed abnormal structural connectomes in the cerebellar vermis, frontal-parietal cortex and visual regions. These topological differences can provide a topological perspective for understanding the potential pathophysiological mechanisms of PIGD in PD.

Abstract
Herein, carvacrol (CRV) and modified cellulose nanocrystal-zinc oxide (CNC-ZnO) were incorporated into a poly (lactic acid) (PLA) matrix to prepare a PLA-based composite film using a simple solution casting method to achieve antimicrobial effects for application in antimicrobial food packaging. Compared with films obtained from neat PLA, the PLA@CRV20%@CNC-ZnO3% composite film shows better performance in terms of mechanical properties, ultraviolet (UV) blocking, and antimicrobial effects. The PLA composites containing CRV and 3 wt% CNC-ZnO blends exhibit improved tensile strength (21.8 MPa) and elongation at break (403.1 %) as well as excellent UV resistance. In particular, CRV and the CNC-ZnO hybrid endow the obtained PLA composite films with a synergistic antibacterial effect, resulting in good antibacterial properties for microbes, such as Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Aspergillus niger. The diameters of the inhibition zone of the PLA@CRV20%@CNC-ZnO3% composite films against E. coli, S. aureus, and A. niger were 4.9, 5.0, and 3.4 cm, respectively. Appling the PLA@CRV20%@CNC-ZnO3% composite film as an antibacterial food packaging material, the storage period for strawberries was considerably extended. This study provides a theoretical basis for developing new organic/inorganic composite antimicrobial film materials from PLA.

Abstract
Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a gastrointestinal immune disease that requires clear diagnosis, timely treatment, and lifelong monitoring. The diagnosis and monitoring methods of IBD mainly include endoscopy, imaging examination, and laboratory examination, which are constantly developed to achieve early definite diagnosis and accurate monitoring. In recent years, with the development of nanotechnology, the diagnosis and monitoring methods of IBD have been remarkably enriched. Nanomaterials, characterized by their minuscule dimensions that can be tailored, along with their distinctive optical, magnetic, and biodistribution properties, have emerged as valuable contrast agents for imaging and targeted agents for endoscopy. Through both active and passive targeting mechanisms, nanoparticles accumulate at the site of inflammation, thereby enhancing IBD detection. This review comprehensively outlines the existing IBD detection techniques, expounds upon the utilization of nanoparticles in IBD detection and diagnosis, and offers insights into the future potential of in vitro diagnostics. STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE: Due to their small size and unique physical and chemical properties, nanomaterials are widely used in the biological and medical fields. In the area of oncology and inflammatory disease, an increasing number of nanomaterials are being developed for diagnostics and drug delivery. Here, we focus on inflammatory bowel disease, an autoimmune inflammatory disease that requires early diagnosis and lifelong monitoring. Nanomaterials can be used as contrast agents to visualize areas of inflammation by actively or passively targeting them through the intestinal mucosal epithelium where gaps exist due to inflammation stimulation. In this article, we summarize the utilization of nanoparticles in inflammatory bowel disease detection and diagnosis, and offers insights into the future potential of in vitro diagnostics.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Predicting secondary loss of response (SLR) to infliximab (IFX) is paramount for tailoring personalized management regimens. Concurrent pancreatic manifestations in patients with Crohn's disease (CD) may correlate with SLR to anti-tumor necrosis factor treatment. This work aimed to evaluate the potential of pancreatic radiomics to predict SLR to IFX in biologic-naive individuals with CD. METHODS Three models were developed by logistic regression analyses to identify high-risk subgroup prone to SLR. The area under the curve (AUC), calibration curve, decision curve analysis (DCA), and integrated discrimination improvement (IDI) were applied for the verification of model performance. A quantitative nomogram was proposed based on the optimal prediction model, and its reliability was substantiated by 10-fold cross-validation. RESULTS In total, 184 CD patients were enrolled in the period January 2016 to February 2022. The clinical model incorporated age of onset, disease duration, disease location, and disease behavior, whereas the radiomics model consisted of five texture features. These clinical parameters and the radiomics score calculated by selected texture features were applied to build the combined model. Compared to other two models, combined model achieved favorable, significantly improved discrimination power (AUCcombined vs clinical 0.851 vs 0.694, p = 0.02; AUCcombined vs radiomics 0.851 vs 0.740, p = 0.04) and superior clinical usefulness, which was further converted into reliable nomogram with an accuracy of 0.860 and AUC of 0.872. CONCLUSIONS The first proposed pancreatic-related nomogram represents a credible, noninvasive predictive instrument to assist clinicians in accurately identifying SLR and non-SLR in CD patients. CRITICAL RELEVANCE STATEMENT This study first built a visual nomogram incorporating pancreatic texture features and clinical factors, which could facilitate clinicians to make personalized treatment decisions and optimize cost-effectiveness ratio for patients with CD. KEY POINTS • The first proposed pancreatic-related model predicts secondary loss of response for infliximab in Crohn's disease. • The model achieved satisfactory predictive accuracy, calibration ability, and clinical value. • The model-based nomogram has the potential to identify long-term failure in advance and tailor personalized management regimens.

Abstract
One of the main challenges in tissue engineering is finding a way to deliver specific growth factors (GFs) with precise spatiotemporal control over their presentation. Here, we report a novel strategy for generating microscale carriers with enhanced affinity for high content loading suitable for the sustained and localized delivery of GFs. Our developed microparticles can be injected locally and sustainably release encapsulated growth factors for up to 28 days. Fine-tuning of particles' size, affinity, microstructures, and release kinetics is achieved using a microfluidic system along with bioconjugation techniques. We also describe an innovative 3D micromixer platform to control the formation of core-shell particles based on superaffinity using a polymer-peptide conjugate for further tuning of release kinetics and delayed degradation. Chitosan shells block the burst release of encapsulated GFs and enable their sustained delivery for up to 10 days. The matched release profiles and degradation provide the local tissues with biomimetic, developmental-biologic-compatible signals to maximize regenerative effects. The versatility of this approach is verified using three different therapeutic proteins, including human bone morphogenetic protein-2 (rhBMP-2), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), and stromal cell-derived factor 1 (SDF-1α). As in vivo morphogenesis is typically driven by the combined action of several growth factors, the proposed technique can be developed to generate a library of GF-loaded particles with designated release profiles.

Abstract
Acute myocardial infarction (AMI), a critical manifestation of coronary heart disease, presents a complex and not entirely understood etiology. This study investigates the potential role of immune infiltration and endothelial-mesenchymal transition (EndoMT) in AMI pathogenesis. We conducted an analysis of the GSE24519 and MSigDB datasets to identify differentially expressed genes associated with the TGF-β signaling pathway (DE-TSRGs) and carried out a functional enrichment analysis. Additionally, we evaluated immune infiltration in AMI and its possible link to myocardial fibrosis. Key genes were identified using machine learning and LASSO logistic regression. The expression of MEOX1 in the ventricular muscles and endothelial cells of Sprague-Dawley rats was assessed through RT-qPCR, immunohistochemical and immunofluorescence assays, and the effect of MEOX1 overexpression on EndoMT was investigated. Our study identified five DE-TSRGs, among which MEOX1, SMURF1, and SPTBN1 exhibited the most significant associations with AMI. Notably, we detected substantial immune infiltration in AMI specimens, with a marked increase in neutrophils and macrophages. MEOX1 demonstrated consistent expression patterns in rat ventricular muscle tissue and endothelial cells, and its overexpression induced EndoMT. Our findings suggest that the TGF-β signaling pathway may contribute to AMI progression by activating the immune response. MEOX1, linked to the TGF-β signaling pathway, appears to facilitate myocardial fibrosis via EndoMT following AMI. These novel insights into the mechanisms of AMI pathogenesis could offer promising therapeutic targets for intervention.

Abstract
The transition from intravenous (i.v.) to subcutaneous (s.c.) administration of biologics is a critical strategy in drug development aimed at improving patient convenience, compliance, and therapeutic outcomes. Focusing on the increasing role of model-informed drug development (MIDD) in the acceleration of this transition, an in-depth overview of the essential clinical pharmacology, and regulatory considerations for successful i.v. to s.c. bridging for biologics after the i.v. formulation has been approved are presented. Considerations encompass multiple aspects beginning with adequate pharmacokinetic (PK) and pharmacodynamic (i.e., exposure-response) evaluations which play a vital role in establishing comparability between the i.v. and s.c. routes of administrations. Selected key recommendations and points to consider include: (i) PK characterization of the s.c. formulation, supported by the increasing preclinical understanding of the s.c. absorption, and robust PK study design and analyses in humans; (ii) a thorough characterization of the exposure-response profiles including important metrics of exposure for both efficacy and safety; (iii) comparability studies designed to meet regulatory considerations and support approval of the s.c. formulation, including noninferiority studies with PK and/or efficacy and safety as primary end points; and (iv) comprehensive safety package addressing assessments of immunogenicity and patients' safety profile with the new route of administration. Recommendations for successful bridging strategies are evolving and MIDD approaches have been used successfully to accelerate the transition to s.c. dosing, ultimately leading to improved patient experiences, adherence, and clinical outcomes.

Abstract
Different amounts of glyoxal and paraformaldehyde were used to synthesize phenol-glyoxal (PG) and phenol-paraformaldehyde (PPF) resins, which were compared with conventional phenol-formaldehyde (PF) resins. Glyoxal oxidation leads to a pH value of 9.83 for PG 2.2. With the addition of polyformaldehyde, PPF 2.2 exhibited the highest viscosity at 17333.33 mPa s. The PPF 2.0 plywood has a maximum bonding strength of 1.94 MPa. The formaldehyde emission of PG 1.8 plywood is found to have a minimum value of 0.025 mg/m3, reaching the ENF limit (≤0.025 mg/m3). Acetaldehyde is found only in volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions from PG plywood and is associated with increased glyoxal. PPF plywood emitted more aromatic and total VOC (TVOC) than the other two plywood types. The measured TVOC for PPF 2.2 is 196.07 μg/m3. The results showed that the total cancer risk (TCR) values of PPF 1.8, PPF 2.0, and PG 1.8 were above the threshold of 1.00E-4, indicating a definite carcinogenic risk. Acetaldehyde in the PG plywood exceeded the safety threshold for noncarcinogenic risk. The use of paraformaldehyde in the wood-based panel production is been considered a possible means of improving the bonding strength of plywood. Glyoxal has also been shown to be a viable method for lowering the formaldehyde emissions from plywood. The VOC emissions from plywood changed significantly depending on the aldehyde used. Limiting VOCs that present high health hazards is crucial for reducing the negative impact of plywood on both indoor environments and human health.

Abstract
Intraosseous ultrasound imaging can serve as a guiding tool for the placement of pedicle screws during spinal fusion surgery; thus far, there has been limited scholarly exploration of methods for intraosseous multifrequency ultrasound imaging, which can achieve simultaneous high resolution and deep penetration. The proposed method introduced a dynamic fusion strategy grounded in wavelet transformation for multifrequency image decomposition. This strategy accomplished the effective amalgamation of high-frequency ultrasound images and low-frequency ultrasound images, enabling the obtaining of fused images with enhanced details and better overall image quality. A novel near-field effect elimination method was also proposed to improve the quality of ultrasound imaging in the near-field region. Experimental evaluations were conducted on isolated bovine circle bone and sheep spine with pedicle screw tracks. The fusion images are capable of effectively detecting areas within the pedicle screw track that have either ruptured or are in close proximity to rupture, even measuring the size of breaches. Evaluation criteria, including information entropy (IE), spatial frequency (SF), average gradient (AG), mutual information (MI), structural similarity index (SSIM), and edge information-based image fusion quality metric (QAB/F), were employed to assess the fusion performance; moreover, the influence of mother wavelet function selection and decomposition levels on computational complexity and fusion image quality was thoroughly discussed. The proposed method exhibited promising potential for intraosseous imaging navigation, which can aid in accurate diagnosis, treatment planning, and monitoring in fields such as orthopedics, surgery, and interventional procedures.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Acute pulmonary vein reconnection (PVR) via epicardial fibers can be found during observation period after PV isolation, the characteristics and related factors have not been fully studied. We aimed to investigate the prevalence, locations, electrogram characteristics, and ablation parameters related to acute epicardial pulmonary vein reconnection (AEPVR). METHODS Acute PVR was monitored during observation period after PV isolation. AEPVRs were mapped and distinguished from endocardial conduction gaps. The clinical, electrophysiological characteristics and lesion set parameters were compared between patients with and without PVR. They were also compared among AEPVR, gap-related reconnection, and epicardial PVR in repeat procedures. RESULTS A total of 56.1% acute PVR were AEPVR, which required a longer waiting period (p < .001) than endocardial gap. The majority of AEPVR were connections from the posterior PV carina to the left atrial posterior wall, followed by late manifestation of intercaval bundle conduction from the right anterior carina to right atrium. AEPVR was similar to epicardial PVR in redo procedures in distribution and electrogram characteristics. Smaller atrium (p < .001), lower impedance drop (p = .039), and ablation index (p = .028) on the posterior wall were independently associated with presence of AEPVR, while lower interlesion distance (p = .043) was the only predictor for AEPVR in acute PVR. An integrated model containing multiple lesion set parameters had the highest predictive ability for AEPVR in receiver operating characteristics analysis. CONCLUSIONS Epicardial reconduction accounted for the majority of acute PVR. AEPVR was associated with anatomic characteristics and multiple ablation-related parameters, which could be explained by nondurable transmural lesion or late manifestation of conduction through intercaval bundle.

Abstract
Body size has historically been considered the primary source of difference in the pharmacokinetics (PKs) of monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) between children aged greater than or equal to 2 years and adults. The contribution of age-associated differences (e.g., ontogeny) beyond body-size differences in the pediatric PKs of mAbs has not been comprehensively evaluated. In this study, the population PK of two mAbs (nivolumab and ipilimumab) in pediatric oncology patients were characterized. The effects of age-related covariates on nivolumab or ipilimumab PKs were assessed using data from 13 and 10 clinical studies, respectively, across multiple tumor types, including melanoma, lymphoma, central nervous system tumors (CNSTs), and other solid tumors. Clearance was lower in pediatric patients (aged 1-17 years) with solid tumors or CNST than in adults after adjusting for other covariates, including the effect of body size. In contrast, clearance was similar in pediatric patients with lymphoma to that in adults with lymphoma. The pediatric effects characterized have increased the accuracy of the predictions of the model, facilitating its use in subsequent exposure comparisons between pediatric and adult patients, as well as for exposure-response analyses to inform pediatric dosing. This study approach may be applicable to the optimization of pediatric dosing of other mAbs and possibly other biologics.

Abstract
Crohn's disease (CD) is regarded as a lifelong progressive disease affecting all segments of the intestinal tract and multiple organs. Based on genome-wide association studies (GWAS) and gene expression data, transcriptome-wide association studies (TWAS) can help identify susceptibility genes associated with pathogenesis and disease behavior. In this review, we overview seven reported TWASs of CD, summarize their study designs, and discuss the key methods and steps used in TWAS, which affect the prioritization of susceptibility genes. This article summarized the screening of tissue-specific susceptibility genes for CD, and discussed the reported potential pathological mechanisms of overlapping susceptibility genes related to CD in a certain tissue type. We observed that ileal lipid-related metabolism and colonic extracellular vesicles may be involved in the pathogenesis of CD by performing GO pathway enrichment analysis for susceptibility genes. We further pointed the low reproducibility of TWAS associated with CD and discussed the reasons for these issues, strategies for solving them. In the future, more TWAS are needed to be designed into large-scale, unified cohorts, unified analysis pipelines, and fully classified databases of expression trait loci.

Abstract
The Tripterospermum, comprising 34 species, is a genus of Gentianaceae. Members of Tripterospermum are mostly perennial, entwined herbs with high medicinal value and rich in iridoids, xanthones, flavonoids, and triterpenes. However, our inadequate understanding of the differences in the plastid genome sequences of Tripterospermum species has severely hindered the study of their evolution and phylogeny. Therefore, we first analyzed the 86 Gentianae plastid genomes to explore the phylogenetic relationships within the Gentianae subfamily where Tripterospermum is located. Then, we analyzed six plastid genomes of Tripterospermum, including two newly sequenced plastid genomes and four previously published plastid genomes, to explore the plastid genomes' evolution and phylogenetic relationships in the genus Tripterospermum. The Tripterospermum plastomes have a quadripartite structure and are between 150,929 and 151,350 bp in size. The plastomes of Tripterospermum encoding 134 genes were detected, including 86 protein-coding genes (CDS), 37 transfer RNA (tRNA) genes, eight ribosomal RNA (rRNA) genes, and three pseudogenes (infA, rps19, and ycf1). The result of the comparison shows that the Tripterospermum plastomes are very conserved, with the total plastome GC content ranging from 37.70% to 37.79%. In repeat sequence analysis, the number of single nucleotide repeats (A/T) varies among the six Tripterospermum species, and the identified main long repeat types are forward and palindromic repeats. The degree of conservation is higher at the SC/IR boundary. The regions with the highest divergence in the CDS and the intergenic region (IGS) are psaI and rrn4.5-rrn5, respectively. The average pi of the CDS and the IGS are only 0.071% and 0.232%, respectively, indicating that the Tripterospermum plastomes are highly conserved. Phylogenetic analysis indicated that Gentianinae is divided into two clades, with Tripterospermum as a sister to Sinogeniana. Phylogenetic trees based on CDS and CDS + IGS combined matrices have strong support in Tripterospermum. These findings contribute to the elucidation of the plastid genome evolution of Tripterospermum and provide a foundation for further exploration and resource utilization within this genus.

Abstract
Refrigeration technology based on the caloric effect is one of the more environmentally friendly alternatives to gas compression refrigeration. The barocaloric effect utilizes pressure to induce phase transition and results in a large entropy change. In this work, a colossal barocaloric effect in the liquid-solid transition (L-S-T) of binary fatty acid methyl esters (BFAMEs) was discovered. At 295 K, an isothermal entropy change as high as 591 J kg-1 K-1 and a reversible entropy change of 356 J kg-1 K-1 at a hydrostatic pressure of 80 MPa were obtained by mixing methyl palmitate and methyl stearate with a specific ratio to synthesize a BFAME. The value of the isothermal entropy change of the BFAME is comparable to that of a commercial gas compression refrigerant, R134a. This work will provide a new L-S-T candidate material to replace commercial refrigerants for the potential application of caloric effect refrigeration technology.

Abstract
Topological magnetic textures are promising candidates as binary data units for the next-generation memory device. The precise generation and convenient control of nontrivial spin topology at zero field near room temperature endows the critical advantages in skyrmionic devices but is not simultaneously integrated into one material. Here, in the Kagome plane of quantum TbMn6 Sn6 , the expedient generation of the skyrmion bubbles in versatile forms of lattice, chain, and isolated one by converging the electron beam, where the electron intensity gradient contributes to the dynamic generation from local anisotropy variation near spin reorientation transition (SRT) is reported. Encouragingly, by utilizing the dynamic shift of the SRT domain interface, the straight movement is actualized with the skyrmion bubble slave to the SRT domain interface forming an elastic composite object, avoiding the usual deflection from the skyrmion Hall effect. The critical contribution of the SRT domain interface via conveniently electron-assisted heating is further theoretically validated in micromagnetic simulation, highlighting the compatible application possibility in advanced devices.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To explore the performance of multiparametric MRI-based radiomics in discriminating different human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) expressing statuses (i.e., HER2-overexpressing, HER2-low-expressing, and HER2-zero-expressing) in breast cancer. METHODS A total of 771 breast cancer patients from two institutions were retrospectively studied. Five-hundred-eighty-one patients from Institution I were divided into a training dataset (n1 = 407) and an independent validation dataset (n1 = 174); 190 patients from Institution II formed the external validation dataset. All patients were categorized into HER2-overexpressing, HER2-low-expressing, and HER2-zero-expressing groups based on pathologic examination. Multiparametric (including T2-weighted imaging with fat suppression [T2WI-FS], diffusion-weighted imaging [DWI], apparent diffusion coefficient [ADC], and dynamic contrast-enhanced [DCE]) MRI-based radiomics features were extracted and then selected from the training dataset using the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) regression. Three predictive models to discriminate HER2-overexpressing vs. others, HER2-low expressing vs. others, and HER2-zero-expressing vs. others were developed based on the selected features. The model performance was evaluated using the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC). RESULTS Eleven radiomics features from DWI, ADC, and DCE; one radiomics feature from DWI; and 17 radiomics features from DWI, ADC, and DCE were selected to build three predictive models, respectively. In training, independent validation, and external validation datasets, radiomics models achieved AUCs of 0.809, 0.737, and 0.725 in differentiating HER2-overexpressing from others; 0.779, 0.778, and 0.782 in differentiating HER2-low-expressing from others; and 0.889, 0.867, and 0.813 in differentiating HER2-zero-expressing from others, respectively. CONCLUSIONS Multiparametric MRI-based radiomics model may preoperatively predict HER2 statuses in breast cancer patients. CLINICAL RELEVANCE STATEMENT The MRI-based radiomics models could be used to noninvasively identify the new three-classification of HER2 expressing status in breast cancer, which is helpful to the decision-making for HER2-target therapies. KEY POINTS • Detecting HER2-overexpressing, HER2-low-expressing, and HER2-zero-expressing status in breast cancer patients is crucial for determining candidates for anti-HER2 therapy. • Radiomics features from multiparametric MRI significantly differed among HER2-overexpressing, HER2-low expressing, and HER2-zero-expressing breast cancers. • Multiparametric MRI-based radiomics could preoperatively evaluate three different HER2-expressing statuses and help to determine potential candidates for anti-HER2 therapy in breast cancer patients.

Abstract
To deal with the shortage and high price of helium-3 resources, adiabatic demagnetization refrigeration technology as an alternative to helium-3-based refrigeration technology has received much attention. The magnetism and ultralow-temperature magnetocaloric effect (MCE) of the EuB4O7 compound have been investigated. The results of magnetic and quasi-adiabatic demagnetization measurements suggest the absence of a magnetic order above 0.4 K for EuB4O7. The dipolar interaction between the nearest-neighbor Eu atoms has a characteristic energy of about 800 mK, which may induce a large MCE. The maximum magnetic entropy change reaches 22.8, 36.2, and 47.6 J·kg-1 K-1 at μ0H = 0-10 kOe, 0-20 kOe, and 0-50 kOe, respectively. Measurements by a quasi-adiabatic demagnetization device show that the lowest temperature achievable (289 mK) for polycrystalline EuB4O7 is lower than that (362 mK) for the commercial refrigerant Gd3Ga5O12 (GGG) single crystals. The hold time is more than 70 min below 700 mK, with an environment temperature of 2 K, proving that EuB4O7 exhibits superior cooling performance.

Abstract
Aims: This study investigated the nonlinear associations between neutrophil-to-lymphocyte (NLR)/platelet-to-lymphocyte (PLR) and recovery rates in sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSNHL). Methods: Total of 244 SSNHL patients were included. The primary outcome was recovery rate. Results: A nonlinear association was detected between NLR and recovery rate using the LOWESS method, with a knot of 3. Patients with NLR ≥3 had a higher recovery rate than NLR <3. Using the linear-spline function, NLR was significantly associated with high recovery rate when NLR was <3. However, when NLR was ≥3, this association became nonsignificant. The trend test showed a similar result. PLR was not associated with recovery rate. Conclusion: The association between NLR and recovery rate is nonlinear, with a knot of around three. PLR is not associated with recovery rate.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Muscle strength decline and vitamin D deficiency are coexisting conditions associated with multiple adverse health outcomes. This prospective study aimed to investigate the multiplicative and additive interactions between handgrip strength (HS) and serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D [25(OH)D] on all-cause mortality in Chinese community-dwelling older adults. STUDY DESIGN This is a population-based cohort study. METHODS 2635 older adults (85.15 ± 12.01 years) were recruited from the Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey (2012-2018). Low HS was defined according to the Asian Working Group for Sarcopenia 2019 updated consensus (<28 kg for men and <18 kg for women). Serum 25(OH)D < 50 nmol/L were defined as vitamin D deficiency. Cox proportional hazard models were used to examine the association of HS and 25(OH)D with all-cause mortality. Socio-demographics, health status, and clinical characteristics were included as covariates. RESULTS 1715 (65.09 %) and 1885 (71.54 %) participants had low HS and vitamin D deficiency, respectively. During a median follow-up of 3.52 years, 1107 older people died. After multivariable adjustment, both HS and 25(OH)D levels were inversely associated with all-cause mortality risk (Ps < 0.001). The hazard ratios (HRs) of low HS and vitamin D deficiency for all-cause mortality were 1.73 (95 % CI: 1.41-2.13) and 1.61 (95 % CI: 1.32-1.93), respectively. Although significant multiplicative interactions were not found, the association between low HS and all-cause mortality was attenuated in the higher 25(OH)D subgroup than in the lower 25(OH)D subgroup (stratified by 50 nmol/L). The multiple-adjusted HR of mortality for combined low HS and vitamin D deficiency was 2.18 (95 % CI: 1.73-2.56), which was higher than that for these two conditions alone. Significant additive interactions between low HS and vitamin D deficiency on mortality were observed (relative excess risk due to interaction: 0.71, 95 % CI: 0.37-1.05). CONCLUSIONS Low HS and low 25(OH)D levels synergistically increased the risk of all-cause mortality. Our results added new insights to the priority of early detection for older adults with comorbid muscle strength decline and vitamin D deficiency.

Abstract
A novel triple physical cross-linking poly(ionic liquid) hydrogel, composed of poly(acrylamide-co-dodecyl methacrylate-co-1-vinyl-3-methyluracil-imidazolium chloride)/cellulose nanofibers-Ca2+ (PADV/CNFs-Ca2+), was synthesized through micellar-copolymerization followed by a solvent-soaked procedure. The synergistic interactions in polymer network (i.e. the hydrophobic association of dodecyl methacrylate moiety in surfactant micelles, the hydrogen bondings between imidazolium monomer segments and other monomer segments in polymers, and the ionic coordination between Ca2+ and -COO- on cellulose nanofibers surface) endowed the hydrogel with excellent mechanical properties, including high strength (754 kPa of tensile strength and 1905 kPa of compressive strength), outstanding stretchability (1963 %), elastic modulus (56.5 kPa) and remarkable mechanical durability (200 cycles with 500 % deformations and 100 cycles at 50 % compression strain). Besides, this hydrogel exhibited other advantages, such as satisfied conductivity (28.7 mS/cm), high strain/pressure/temperature-sensitive behavior, precise and stable signal transmission, varying degrees of antibacterial activity, and biocompatibility. Owing to the exceptional comprehensive performance, the hydrogel was then assembled as a multifunctional sensor to monitor the joint motion, vocal cord vibration, tactile sensation and body temperature with remarkable sensitivity in real time. This work offered a new strategy for the fabrication of durable, biocompatible, antibacterial and conductive materials for wearable multifunctional electronic devices.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE Atrial fibrillation (AF) and periodontitis, both classified under chronic inflammatory diseases, share common etiologies, including genetic factors and immune pathways. However, the exact mechanisms are still poorly understood. This study aimed to explore the potential common genes and immune characteristics between AF and periodontitis. METHODS Gene expression datasets for AF and periodontitis were downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database. Differential expression analysis was used to identify common genes in the training set. Functional analyses, including Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway enrichment, were conducted to elucidate the underlying mechanisms. Hub genes were further screened based on expression levels, receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves, and least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) regression. Then, based on the expression levels and ROC values of the hub genes in the validation set, the target genes were identified. Finally, immune cell infiltration analysis was performed on the AF and periodontitis datasets in the training set using the "CIBERSORT" R package. The relationships between target genes, infiltrating immune cells, and inflammatory factors were also investigated. In addition, AF susceptibility, atrial fibrosis, inflammatory infiltration, and RGS1 protein expression in rat models of periodontitis were assessed through in vivo electrophysiology experiments, Masson's trichrome staining, hematoxylin-eosin staining, immunohistochemistry, and western blotting, respectively. RESULTS A total of 21 common genes were identified between AF and periodontitis among the differentially expressed genes. After evaluating gene expression levels, ROC curves, and LASSO analysis, four significant genes between AF and periodontitis were identified, namely regulator of G-protein signaling 1 (RGS1), annexin A6 (ANXA6), solute carrier family 27 member 6 (SLC27A6), and ficolin 1 (FCN1). Further validation confirmed that RGS1 was the optimal shared target gene for AF and periodontitis. Immune cell infiltration analysis revealed that neutrophils and T cells play an important role in the pathogenesis of both diseases. RGS1 showed a significant positive correlation with activated memory CD4 T cells and gamma-delta T cells and a negative correlation with CD8 T cells and regulatory T cells in both training sets. Moreover, RGS1 was positively correlated with classical pro-inflammatory cytokines IL1β and IL6. In periodontitis rat models, AF susceptibility, atrial fibrosis, and inflammatory infiltration were significantly increased, and RGS1 expression in the atrial tissue was upregulated. CONCLUSION A common gene between AF and periodontitis, RGS1 appears central in linking the two conditions. Immune and inflammatory responses may underlie the interaction between AF and periodontitis.

Abstract
Enterovirus D68 (EV-D68) is an emerging pathogen that has caused outbreaks of severe respiratory disease worldwide, especially in children. We aim to investigate the prevalence and genetic characteristics of EV-D68 in children from Shanghai. Nasopharyngeal swab or bronchoalveolar lavage fluid samples collected from children hospitalized with community-acquired pneumonia were screened for EV-D68. Nine of 3997 samples were EV-D68-positive. Seven of nine positive samples were sequenced and submitted to GenBank. Based on partial polyprotein gene (3D) or complete sequence analysis, we found the seven strains belong to different clades and subclades, including three D1 (detected in 2013 and 2014), one D2 (2013), one D3 (2019), and two B3 (2014 and 2018). Overall, we show different clades and subclades of EV-D68 spread with low positive rates (0.2%) among children in Shanghai between 2013 and 2020. Amino acid mutations were found in the epitopes of the VP1 BC and DE loops and C-terminus; similarity analysis provided evidence for recombination as an important mechanism of genomic diversification. Both single nucleotide mutations and recombination play a role in evolution of EV-D68. Genetic instability within these clinical strains may indicate large outbreaks could occur following cumulative mutations.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Contrast-induced encephalopathy (CIE) is a rare complication during or after angiography, usually transient and reversible. CIE diagnosis is challenging due to the absence of no formal diagnostic criteria. CIE can mimic stroke symptoms, including visual disturbances, seizures, confusion, coma, and focal neurological deficits. This case reports neurological deficit reversal in a CIE patient due to the embolization of an intracranial aneurysm, the second angiographic procedure in six days. CASE PRESENTATION A 77-year-old woman was admitted to the hospital for headaches. The cerebral computed tomography (CT) scan indicated a subarachnoid hemorrhage. The first digital subtraction angiography (DSA) identified an aneurysm of 4 mm ∗ 3 mm in size in the M1 segment of the right middle cerebral artery (MCA). Then, embolization surgery was performed for the cerebral aneurysm, which was successful. However, the patient had post-operative headaches, slurred speech, epilepsy, limb weakness, and delirium post-procedure. The non-contrast cerebral CT indicated widespread edema in the right cerebral hemisphere. The patient was diagnosed with CIE and treated with symptomatic supportive therapy. Eventually, the patient's neurological deficits and cerebral edema improved significantly. CONCLUSIONS The current case emphasized the importance of early diagnosis and symptomatic treatment of CIE. Thus, CIE should be the first consideration during the differential diagnosis of a patient having acute neurological impairment after repeated DSA.

Abstract
Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) is characterized by debilitating pain. Electroacupuncture (EA), a traditional Chinese medical therapy, has shown promise in KOA pain management. This study investigated the therapeutic potential of EA in KOA and its impact on limbic system neural plasticity. Sixteen rats were randomly assigned into two groups: EA group and sham-EA group. EA or sham-EA interventions were administered at acupoints ST32 (Futu) and ST36 (Zusanli) for three weeks. Post-intervention resting-state fMRI was scanned, assessing parameters including Amplitude of low frequency fluctuations (ALFF), regional homogeneity (ReHo), functional connectivity (FC) and nodal characterizations of network within limbic system. The results showed that EA was strategically directed towards the limbic system, resulting in discernible alterations in neural activity, FC, and network characteristics. Our findings demonstrate that EA had a significant impact on the limbic system neural plasticity in rats with KOA, presenting a novel nonpharmacological approach for KOA treatment.

Abstract
Chitosan derivatives with two different phenylcarbamate pendants at the 6-position and 2,3-positions of the glucosamine unit were synthesized by triphenylmethyl as a protective group. The regioselective chitosan derivatives were prepared corresponding to coated-type chiral packed materials (CPMs), which were evaluated with thirteen chiral compounds by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The regioselective chitosan derivatives (4aⅠ/4aⅡ, 4bⅠ/4bⅡ) bearing electron-withdrawing 3,5‑chloro or 4‑chloro at the 6-position can recognize 7 or 8 of the 13 enantiomers and achieve baseline separation for enantiomers 5 and 7. They exhibited better chiral recognition abilities than the other derivatives with different substituents at the 6-position and the same 3,5-dimethylphenyl substituent at the 2,3-postion. In comparison to Chit-1 featuring a 3,5-dimethylphenyl substituent at the 2,3- and 6-positions, it was observed that the combination of both an electron-withdrawing and an electron-donating substituent of the regioselective chitosan derivatives (4aⅠ/4aⅡ, 4bⅠ/4bⅡ) showed better or similar enantioseparation abilities for racemic Compounds 7 and 6, respectively. The molecular weight-performance relationship of the regioselective chitosan derivatives was investigated in detail. It was found that with increasing molecular weight, the derivatives 4aⅡ and 4bⅡ all possessed greater enantioseparation power for 4 enantiomers, such as enantiomers 4, 7, 11, and 15, than the corresponding derivatives with low molecular weights. The molecular docking simulation results showed that excellent enantioseparation power significantly depended on the combination and interaction of multiple factors, such as steric hindrance, and polarity of the substituents on the CPMs and enantiomers.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The lateral profile is an important indicator of facial attractiveness. This study explored the general characteristics of the forehead profile and protrusion, and their relationship with related factors in structure and development. METHODS Four hundred fourteen Chinese participants in the Yangtze River Delta region were involved. Including 206 males (17.15 ± 7.68 years old) and 208 females (18.35 ± 8.06 years old); 94 children (8.54 ± 2.21 years old, ranging from 4 to 12 years old), 166 adolescents (14.83 ± 1.50 years old, ranging from 13 to 17 years old), and 154 adults (25.52 ± 4.89, 18 years or older). The frontal section of the forehead was used to explore its shape. The straight distance between the vertical line of the FH plane through the nasal root point and its parallel line, which is tangential to the forehead, indicates the forehead prominence. Frontal sinus width was measured using the method described by Mahmood. RESULTS The general shape of the forehead was straight and slightly bulged near the eyebrow arch in males but rounder in females. The average forehead protrusion in males was higher than that in females in adults. Significant differences in forehead protrusion between the dentoskeletal classifications and growth phases were notable. Frontal protrusion significantly correlated with frontal sinus depth, especially in males, adults, Class I, and those whose convex points were located in the lower section of the forehead. CONCLUSIONS Age, race, and sex affect the forehead protrusion and frontal sinus width. Forehead protrusion may be an indicator of dentoskeletal deformities in the early stage. And dentoskeletal deformities may impair the correlation between the frontal sinuses and forehead protrusion during development. TRIAL REGISTRATION This retrospective, cross-sectional study was reviewed and approved by the Research Ethical Committee (T2020008), and registered at ClinicalTrial.gov with an identified number (ChiCTR2100041913).

Abstract
AIM AND OBJECTIVES To investigate the nutritional status of older adults in nursing homes in Chongqing, China, compare and analyse the differences in the physical condition, cognitive function and social-related factors of older adults with different nutritional statuses. BACKGROUND Malnurtition in the older people has become a priority concer, and the incidence and factors associated with malnutrition vary somewhat by healthcare setting. In Chongqing ,China, there is lack of research on malnutrition of the older people in nursing homes. Here, we investigated the incidence of malnutrition and analysed the associated factors. DESIGN A cross-sectional study. METHODS From January to April 2023, a cross-sectional survey was conducted in three nursing homes in Chongqing, China. Participants completed a series of questionnaires, including the Demographic Information Questionnaire which included age, gender, education level, previous occupation, marital status and other information. The survey also included validated non-demographic instruments [Short-Form Mini-Nutritional Assessment (MNA-SF), Barthel Index (BI) and Mini-mental State Examination (MMSE)] to identify related impact factors. The Guidelines for cross-sectional studies were used in this study (Data S1). RESULTS 209 older adults aged 60 and over participated in this study, of whom 121 were women and 88 were men. The average (SD) age of the participants was 84.7 (6.3) years. Of the participants, 46.4% were classified as well nourished. About 39.2% were at risk of malnutrition and 14.4% were malnourished. Compared to those who were well nourished, those who were malnourished or at risk of becoming malnourished were more likely to suffer from comorbidities, polypharmacy, a higher risk of falling, ADL dependence and to receive more nutritional interventions. However, there are no significant differences after adjustment for age, education level, previous occupation, marital status, length of stay, and type of health care payment. CONCLUSION Malnutrition is a common problem among older adults innursing homes in Chongqing, China. There are certain differences in physical conditions and nutritional interventions among older adults withdifferent nutritional status. PUBLIC CONTRIBUTION This study suggests that the problem of malnutrition is very prominent in nursing homes in Chongqing, China. Cognitive impairment, impaired activities of daily living, fall risk and nutritional intervention need to be prevalent in older adults with (risk of) malnutrition.

Abstract
Selenium (Se) can reduce uptake and translocation of cadmium (Cd) in plants via plenty of ways, including regulation of root morphology. However, the underlying mechanisms on how Se will regulate root morphology under metal(loid) stresses are not fully illustrated. To fill up this knowledge gap, we investigated the effects of 0.5 mg L-1 selenite (Se(IV)) on root exudates, root morphology, root endogenous hormones, and Cd uptake efficiency of rice under the 1 mg L-1 Cd stress condition. The results showed that Se(IV) significantly reduced shoot and root Cd concentrations, and decreased Cd uptake efficiency via root hairs determined by a non-invasive micro-test (NMT) technology. When compared to the 1 mg L-1 Cd (Cd1) treatment, addition of 0.5 mg L-1 Se(IV) (1) significantly reduced root surface area and tip numbers, and non-significantly reduced root length, but significantly enhanced root diameter and root volume; (2) significantly enhanced concentrations of tartaric acid in the root exudate solution, root auxin (IAA) and root jasmonic acid (JA) via a UHPLC or a HPLC analysis; (3) significantly up-regulated metabolites correlated with synthesis of IAA, JA, gibberellin (GA), and salicylic acid, such as GA53, M-SA, (+/-)7-epi-JA, and derivatives of tryptophan and indole in the metabolome analysis. However, results of transcriptome analysis showed that (1) no upregulated differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were enriched in IAA synthesis; (2) some upregulated DEGs were found to be enriched in JA and GA53 synthesis pathways. In summary, although Se(IV) stimulated the synthesis of IAA, JA, and GA53, it significantly inhibited root growth mainly by 1) affecting signal transduction of IAA and GA; 2) altering IAA polar transport and homeostasis; and 3) regulating DEGs including SAUR32, SAUR36, SAUR76, OsSub33, OsEXPA8, OsEXPA18, and Os6bglu24.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Surgical site infections (SSIs) can pose significant risks to patients undergoing surgical procedures. This study aimed to investigate the risk factors and diagnostic value of neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and platelet to lymphocyte ratio (PLR) for SSIs in patients undergoing laparoscopic radical nephrectomy for renal cell carcinoma. METHODS A retrospective analysis of 866 patients at our hospital was conducted between June 2016 and June 2022. The study divided patients into two groups: those with SSIs and those without. General data and operative room-related information were collected. Inclusion and exclusion criteria were clearly defined. Peripheral blood indicators were analysed, and observation indicators were meticulously selected, including surgery time, usage of a laminar flow operating room and intraoperative hypothermia. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 25.0 software, including univariate, multivariate analysis and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis. RESULTS Thirty-six out of 866 patients developed SSIs. Statistically significant differences were found for surgery time, usage of non-laminar flow operating rooms and intraoperative hypothermia (p < 0.05). ROC curve analysis showed an AUC of 0.765 (95% CI: 0.636-0.868) for serum NLR and PLR, with optimal cut-off values at NLR 4.8 and PLR 196, indicating moderate to strong discriminative ability for SSIs. CONCLUSIONS The study identified non-laminar flow operating rooms, extended surgery time, and intraoperative hypothermia as significant risk factors for SSIs. Serum NLR and PLR were found valuable as biomarkers for SSIs diagnosis, holding potential for preoperative risk assessment and improved patient safety in renal cell carcinoma care.

Abstract
PURPOSE With technological progress, the integration of aged care with technology is a new challenge. This study developed a theoretical model of smart aged care in the community to meet the diverse needs of community-dwelling older adults. METHODS This qualitative study recruited 22 participants from three communities in Chongqing, China. Through semi-structured interviews and grounded theory, this study analyzed the needs of community-dwelling older adults for smart aged care and identified strategies. RESULTS Nine categories were identified, including five need categories, three important factors, and one outcome objective. Furthermore, four health provider topics were proposed. CONCLUSIONS Although the application of information technology has enhanced convenience and possibilities, its popularity and satisfaction are low. Information technology can be successfully introduced into the lives of community-dwelling older adults only by truly understanding their needs. IMPLICATIONS OF NURSING PRACTICE Smart aged care in the community has positive effects on nursing outcomes for older adults. This study's findings can help caregivers understand the various dimensions of the needs of community-dwelling older adults and relevant influencing factors under smart aged care to increase its popularity and satisfaction. Furthermore, this can promote the integration of intelligent technology and manual services in nursing practice.

Abstract
Supersolid, an exotic quantum state of matter that consists of particles forming an incompressible solid structure while simultaneously showing superfluidity of zero viscosity1, is one of the long-standing pursuits in fundamental research2,3. Although the initial report of 4He supersolid turned out to be an artefact4, this intriguing quantum matter has inspired enthusiastic investigations into ultracold quantum gases5-8. Nevertheless, the realization of supersolidity in condensed matter remains elusive. Here we find evidence for a quantum magnetic analogue of supersolid-the spin supersolid-in the recently synthesized triangular-lattice antiferromagnet Na2BaCo(PO4)2 (ref. 9). Notably, a giant magnetocaloric effect related to the spin supersolidity is observed in the demagnetization cooling process, manifesting itself as two prominent valley-like regimes, with the lowest temperature attaining below 100 mK. Not only is there an experimentally determined series of critical fields but the demagnetization cooling profile also shows excellent agreement with the theoretical simulations with an easy-axis Heisenberg model. Neutron diffractions also successfully locate the proposed spin supersolid phases by revealing the coexistence of three-sublattice spin solid order and interlayer incommensurability indicative of the spin superfluidity. Thus, our results reveal a strong entropic effect of the spin supersolid phase in a frustrated quantum magnet and open up a viable and promising avenue for applications in sub-kelvin refrigeration, especially in the context of persistent concerns about helium shortages10,11.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Fibroblast-like synoviocytes (FLSs) contribute to inflammation and joint damage in rheumatoid arthritis (RA). However, the regulatory mechanisms of FLSs in relapse and remission of RA remain unknown. Identifying FLS heterogeneity and their underlying pathogenic roles may lead to discovering novel disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs. METHODS Combining single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) and spatial transcriptomics, we sequenced six matched synovial tissue samples from three patients with relapse RA and three patients in remission. We analyzed the differences in the transcriptomes of the FLS subsets between the relapse and remitted phases. We validated several key signaling pathways using quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR) and multiplex immunohistochemistry (mIHC). We further targeted the critical signals in vitro and in vivo using the collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) model in rats. RESULTS Lining and sublining FLS subsets were identified using scRNA-seq. Differential analyses indicated that the fibroblast growth factor (FGF) pathway was highly activated in the lining FLSs from patients with relapse RA for which mIHC confirmed the increased expression of FGF10. Although the type I interferon pathway was also activated in the lining FLSs, in vitro stimulation experiment suggested that it was independent of the FGF10 pathway. FGF10 knockdown by small interfering RNA in FLSs significantly reduced the expression of receptor activator of NF-κB ligand. Moreover, recombinant FGF10 protein enhanced bone erosion in the primary human-derived pannus cell culture, whereas the FGF receptor (FGFR) 1 inhibitor attenuated this process. Finally, administering an FGFR1 inhibitor displayed a therapeutic effect in a CIA rat model. CONCLUSION The FGF pathway is a critical signaling pathway in relapse RA. Targeted tissue-specific inhibition of FGF10/FGFR1 may provide new opportunities to treat patients with relapse RA.
