Abstract
Six new photoactive unsymmetrical diarylethenes bearing thiazole ring with hydrogen at the reactive carbon atom have been synthesized. Their structures have been studied by DFT calculations and X-ray crystallography. All compounds undergo irreversible photochemical transformations under irradiation with ultraviolet light, proceeding through the photocyclization stage. It has been found that only some normal (thiophene, imidazole and pyrazole derivatives) and inverse type (oxazole derivative) diarylethenes form colored photoinduced isomers under UV. In polar acetonitrile these intermediates show relatively fast irreversible thermal reaction, while in nonpolar toluene slow cycloreversion to initial diarylethenes is the predominant process of these species.

Abstract
Click-like condensation of boronic acids with specifically designed triols (boronate-triol coupling) produces stable diamantane adducts in aqueous medium, which can be controllably cleaved to initial components under acidic conditions or by using boric acid as a chemical trigger. This novel "click-declick" strategy allows for the creation of temporary covalent connections between two or more modular units, which was demonstrated by the synthesis of new fluorophore-labeled natural molecules (peptides, steroids), supramolecular assemblies, modified polymers, boronic acid scavengers, solid-supported organocatalysts, biodegradable COF-like materials, and dynamic combinatorial libraries.

Abstract
The state of palladium and copper on the surface of the PdCl2–CuCl2/γ-Al2O3 nanocatalyst for the low-temperature oxidation of CO by molecular oxygen was studied by various spectroscopic techniques. Using X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS), powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), and diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy (DRIFTS), freshly prepared samples of the catalyst were studied. The same samples were also evaluated after interaction with CO, O2, and H2O vapor in various combinations. It was shown that copper exists in the form of Cu2Cl(OH)3 (paratacamite) nanophase on the surface of the catalyst. No palladium-containing crystalline phases were identified. Palladium coordination initially is comprised of four chlorine atoms. It was shown by XAS that this catalyst is not capable of oxidizing CO at room temperature in the absence of H2O and O2 over 12 h. Copper(II) and palladium(II) are reduced to Cu(I) and Pd(I,0) species, respectively, in the presence of CO and H2O vapor (without O2). It was found by DRIFTS that both linear (2114 cm−1, 1990 cm−1) and bridging (1928 cm−1) forms of coordinated CO were formed upon adsorption onto the catalyst surface. Moreover, the formation of CO2 was detected upon the interaction of the coordinated CO with oxygen. The kinetics of CO oxidation was studied at 18–38 °C at an atmospheric pressure for CO, O2, N2, and H2O (gas) mixtures in a flow reactor (steady state conditions).

High diastereoselective amine-catalyzed Knoevenagel-Michael-cyclization-ring-opening cascade between aldehydes, 3-arylisoxazol-5(4H)-ones and 3-aminocyclohex-2-en-1-ones. Mol Divers 2018; 22:627-636. Abstract
A highly diastereoselective three-component cascade reaction among aromatic aldehydes, 3-arylisoxazol-5(4H)-ones and 3-aminocyclohex-2-en-1-ones takes place under the catalysis of triethylamine, providing (3SR,4SR)-4-aryl-3-[(E)-(hydroxyimino)(aryl)methyl]-4,6,7,8-tetrahydroquinoline-2,5(1H,3H)-diones in 45-85% yields. The transformation presumably proceeds through a sequential cascade of Knoevenagel/Michael-addition/cyclization/ring-opening reactions. This process was carried out in green media (EtOH/water, 1:1-1:3) at reflux. Products are crystallized directly from the reaction mixture and their isolation includes only filtration. The structure of (3SR,4SR)-3-[(E)-(hydroxyimino)(phenyl)methyl]-7,7-dimethyl-4-phenyl-4,6,7,8-tetrahydroquinoline-2,5(1H,3H)-dione was confirmed by X-ray diffraction analysis.

Abstract
A novel important class of nanoporous crystalline solids, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), composed of organic ligands (linkers) and metal ions, is now considered as a platform for the development of various functional hybrid materials. In order to design new MOF-based asymmetric catalysts, two terephthalic acid derivatives, namely 2-{[1-(1-tert-butoxycarbonyl)-L-prolyl]amino}terephthalic acid, C18H22N2O7, (1), and 2-(L-prolylamino)terephthalic acid, C13H14N2O5, (2), which could find potential applications as chiral linkers for the construction of enantioselective MOFs, were synthesized and their powder samples were measured at synchrotron station ID22 (ESRF). Each sample contained two unknown crystalline phases, so four new crystal structures were determined, namely, the 2.24-hydrate of (1), (1a) (space group C2221), and the 2.08-hydrate of (1), (1b) (P2221), which are crystallohydrates, and two polymorphs of (2), i.e. (2a) (C2221) and (2b) (P212121), and were validated with DFT-d (dispersion-corrected density functional theory) optimizations.
