Abstract
A magnetic molecularly imprinted polymer (MMIP) adsorbent incorporating amino-functionalized magnetite nanoparticles, nitrogen-doped graphene quantum dots and mesoporous carbon (MIP@MPC@N-GQDs@Fe3O4NH2) was fabricated to extract triazine herbicides from fruit juice. The embedded magnetite nanoparticles simplified the isolation of the adsorbent from the sample solution. The N-GQDs and MPC enhanced adsorption by affinity binding with triazines. The MIP layer provided highly specific recognition sites for the selective adsorption of three target triazines. The extracted triazines were determined by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) coupled with diode-array detection (DAD). The developed method exhibited linearity from 1.5 to 100.0 µg L-1 with a detection limit of 0.5 µg L-1. Recoveries from spiked fruit juice samples were in the range of 80.1- 108.4 %, with a relative standard deviation of less than 6.0 %. The developed MMIP adsorbent demonstrated good selectivity, high extraction efficiency, ease of fabrication and use, and good stability.

Abstract
The release of hazardous chemicals into aquatic environments has long been a known problem, but its full impact has only recently been realized. This study presents a validated liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS) method for detecting pharmaceutical and pesticide residues in mussels (Mytilus galloprovincialis). An innovative MS-compatible extraction method was developed and validated, demonstrating successful recovery rates for analytes at three different concentration levels (25-95%). The method detected the target analytes at ng/g concentrations with high accuracy (-7% to 11%) and low relative standard deviation (<10%) for both intra-day and inter-day analyses. After validation, the method was applied to mussel samples collected from a commercial farm near Senigallia, Adriatic Sea, detecting different contaminants in the range of 2-40 ng/g (dry weight). The study provides a valuable tool for investigating the potential threats posed by diverse contaminant classes with high annual tonnage, including analytes with known persistence and/or illegal status.

Abstract
Herein, the composite of polylactic acid (PLA)/ Iron-based metal-organic framework (r-MIL-88A)/ Cellulose electrospun nanofibers was fabricated; and then, applied as a novel sorbent for thin-film micro-extraction (TFME) of four selected pesticides followed by GC-FID analysis. From the evaluation of scanning electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction, the successful fabrication of composite nanaofibers was approved. The presence of r-MIL-88A/Cellulose with large surface area and plenty of OH-functional groups results in improving PLA extraction efficiency. The effect of various main parameters on extraction efficiency was evaluated. The LODs (based on S/N = 3) were in the range of 1.0 to 1.5 ng mL-1. Intra-day and inter-day relative standard deviations (RSDs) were in the range of 4.8% - 5.6% and 5.2%-6.4%, respectively. In addition, the fiber to fiber relative standard deviations were observed in the range of 5.2%-12.3%. By using the optimized factors, acceptable linearity ranges were obtained in the range of 3.0-1900.0 ng mL-1 for metribuzin and ethofumasate, and 5.0-2000.0 for atrazine and ametryn (R2 = 0.9913-0.9967). The developed method was investigated in fruit juice, vegetables, milk and honey samples, and recoveries (79.3-95.6%) indicate that the PLA/r-MIL-88A/Cellulose can be a prominent composite film for the extraction of the target analytes in various samples.

Abstract
A metal-organic framework UiO-66 was prepared and used as a sorbent for dispersive solid-phase extraction combined with high-performance liquid chromatography (DSPE-HPLC) for extracting and determining four pyrethroids in water samples for the first time. The as-synthesized material was confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and N2 adsorption-desorption analysis. In addition, several important parameters affecting DSPE efficiency, including sorbent dosage, extraction time, salt concentration, pH, elution solvent, elution volume, and elution time, were optimized. Under the optimum conditions, the UiO-66 based on the DSPE-HPLC method displayed a wide linear range (10-1000 ng/ml), low limits of detection (2.8-3.5 ng/ml), and good precision (relative standard deviations [RSDs] < 3%) for the four pyrethroids. The recoveries at different spiked levels ranged from 89.3% to 107.7%. In addition, UiO-66 featured good reusability and reproducibility. The results demonstrated that π-π stacking interactions, hydrophobic interactions, and van der Waals forces between UiO-66 and the four pyrethroids played a crucial role in the adsorption process. Meanwhile, the maximum extraction capability could be obtained within 5 min. Thus, the DSPE coupled with the UiO-66 sorbent can be successfully used in the analysis of four pyrethroids in environmental water samples. PRACTITIONER POINTS: Simultaneous determination of four pyrethroids using the developed UiO-66-based DSPE-HPLC method in water samples. The developed method had a short enrichment time, broad linear ranges, a low detection limit, and high enrichment factor. It is showed that π-π stacking interaction, hydrophobic interaction, and van der Waals forces were the main mechanism.

Abstract
UNLABELLED This study is devoted to optimization synthesis conditions of the N, S co-doped porous graphene via a single step thermal chemical activation process from agricultural wastes such as cabbage waste. To this end, the response surface method (RSM) was considered, and the synthesis parameters were varied in specific ranges. By doing so, the optimum conditions in terms of the best performance in mercury removal was determined which was characterized by TEM, SEM, BET, XRD, XPS, and FTIR techniques. The chosen key process parameters were Activation agent to carbon precursor ratio (A: KOH/C), Reaction time (B: Time), Activation temperature (C: Temperature), and (Dopant to carbon precursor ratio (D: Dopant/C). Each parameter was investigated in 3 levels with lower and upper bounds being A: 2-6; B:30-90 min.; C: 600-800 ˚C; D:2-10. The optimum conditions of the process were determined to be as: A: 2; B: 30 min.; C: 600 ˚C and D: 2. The optimized sample was prepared in repeated runs with reproducible results with Hg vapor adsorption capacity of 2100 µg/g at 40 ˚C and 2266 µg/g at 90 ˚C. In addition to the experiments, DFT calculations were also carried out which elucidated the positive role of N and S co-doping in improving the mercury adsorption intensity. SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION The online version contains supplementary material available at 10.1007/s40201-021-00712-y.

Abstract
In this paper, we intend to present a classical method of extraction and analysis of betanin from Algerian red beetroot, and to know the efficiency of the binary mixture (Ethanol-Water) on the extraction. Also, to know the betanin content of the extract obtained using optical spectroscopic methods. This dye is a natural pigment with high antioxidant power and widely used as a natural dye. In addition, the high bioavailability of this pigment reinforces its potential for future therapeutic applications. However, commercially the betanin content beet extracts never exceeds 1,2% and this molecule does not exist marketed in a more purified form, therefore it is necessary to have efficient tools for the enrichment of betanin extracts. The experimental results made in our laboratory, confirm the effectiveness of the binary mixture (Ethanol-Water) on the betanin extraction from Algerian beetroot, the yield obtained of extracted betanin pigment from red beetroot is 0,342 mg/g, when the mixture of solvents (Ethanol-Water) is used with a large quantity of water. As well as, the betanin has an absorption band varying from 480 nm to 540 nm and it has an emission band at 800 nm.

Abstract
PURPOSE Green approach to the nanoparticles, including metal oxides due to inevitable disadvantages of physical or chemical synthesis routes is attractive nowadays. Zink oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles play a key role in the medical and pharmaceutical fields. This research aimed to study the biologically synthesized ZnO nanoparticle using Bacillus subtilis, and evaluated its antibacterial properties. METHODS Bacillus subtilis culture in a broth nutrient environment was used, followed by adding the Zinc acetate dehydrate. Biosynthesis of the nanoparticles was confirmed by the XRD, FTIR, and SEM imaging. The antibacterial effects of NPs on the expression of AdeB efflux pump genes and the AdeRS regulator were studied; clinical species of the Acinetobacter baumannii were collected from clinical samples of Khorramabad, using the phenotypic (MIC) and the genotypic methods through real-time PCR. RESULTS X-ray diffraction pattern (XRD) result showed, that all of the peaks were related to the ZnO, and no other peaks were detected; it also demonstrated nanostructure nature with crystallite size of 25-50 nm. The results indicated, that the antibacterial properties of the nanoparticle increased the AdeRS expression and decreased the AdeB expression in 40% of the A. Baumannii. In addition, there was an increase in the AdeB expression in 60% of the species, indicating an increased probability for mutation. CONCLUSION Given the desirable inhibitory effects of biosynthesized ZnO NPs on the expression of AdeB and AdeRS, which play an important role in the pharmaceutical resistance of Acinetobacter species, it seems that ZnO NPs can be used as a medication candidate in pharmaceutical industry in the future.

Abstract
Here, catanionic surfactant vesicles were prepared by varying the types and compositions of anions and cations and the number of alkyl tails of the surfactants. The formed vesicles were employed to disaggregate and stabilize multiwalled carbon nanotubes bundles in aqueous solutions. Furthermore, the vesicle coated carbon nanotubes were used as the adsorbent in the dispersive micro-solid phase extraction. Additionally, micellar extraction was employed for the sample pre-extraction to avoid the use of toxic organic extraction solvents. The relative parameters that affect the extraction efficiency of targets were optimized using response surface methodology. Under the optimal microextraction conditions, the analytical performance of the established method was evaluated. The limits of detection (2.3-13 ng/mL) and quantification (7.6-42 ng/mL), inter- and intra- day precision (1.2-4.0 %, 2.0-5.0 %), and spiked recovery values (80-91 %) were obtained. The proposed method showed high sensitivity, precision and trueness. It was successfully applied to analyze phenols in Dendrobium genus samples.
