Since previous few decays the consideration of non-Newtonian liquids motion due to its immense usages in medicine, biology, industrial procedures, chemistry of catalysts and in environment. Various studies examine the significance of bio-materials flow in physiological procedures to explore the cure of diagnosed symptoms of disease appearing during movement in a human physiological system. To illustrate the characteristics of physiological liquids various non-Newtonian models have been proposed, but yet no such single liquid model is exploited which describes all the properties of nonlinear behaving liquids. Among these several non-Newtonian models, Jeffery liquid model should be reduced to its base fluid case (i.e. viscous liquid) by choosing λ₁ = λ₂ = 0. Various physiological materials which represents both linear and nonlinear characteristics respectively blood is one of these. Jeffery fluid and peristaltic motion have some common properties such as radii, relaxation time and retardation time. Moreover heat and mass transfer is also an important phenomenon which is suitable for various physiological processes such as hemodialysis and oxygenation etc. Thus due to such motivating facts this research is conducted to investigate the peristaltic motion of electrically conducting Jeffery liquid. The peristaltic propagating channel walls are asymmetric and inclined. Joule heating and magnetic field effects are considered by applying magnetic field in transverse direction to the flow. Further conservation laws modelled the flow situation via considering quadric mix convection, thermos diffusion and diffusion-thermos, heat generation and absorption, chemical reaction with activation energy features. Moreover, creeping flow and long wavelength assumptions are used to simplify the mathematical modelling. The reduced system of equation is solved numerically through built-in technique in Mathematica software. This built-in technique is working through ND Solve command and shooting and RK-Felburg numerical schemes are behind this technique. These numerical results are used to discuss the flow quantities i.e., velocity, temperature and concentration against the sundry dimensionless quantities. Examining the results it comes to know that both thermal and concentration nonlinear mix convection have oppositely affecting the axial velocity. Both heat and mass transfer are escalating function of thermo-diffusion/diffusion-thermo aspects.

Significance of Synthetic Cilia and Arrhenius Energy on Double Diffusive Stream of Radiated Hybrid Nanofluid in Microfluidic Pump under Ohmic Heating: An Entropic Analysis

This study investigates the thermal aspects of magnetohydrodynamic double diffusive flow of a radiated Cu-CuO/Casson hybrid nano-liquid through a microfluidic pump in the presence of electroosmosis effects. Shared effects of the Arrhenius activation energy and the Joule heating on the intended liquid transport are also incorporated. The inner wall of the pump is covered with electrically charged fabricated cilia mat that facilitates flow actuation and micro-mixing process. The governing equations for the proposed problem are simplified by utilizing the Debye-Hückel and lubrication approximations. The numerical solutions are calculated with the aid of shooting technique. The analysis reports that the substantial effects of electroosmosis contribute an important role in cooling process. Existence of electric double layer stimulates an escalation in liquid stream in the vicinity of the pump surface. The Arrhenius energy input strengthens the mass dispersion and regulates the thermal treatment. The proposed geometry delivers a deep perception that fabricated cilia in electroosmotic pumps are potential pharmaceutical micromixers for an effective flow and minimum entropy generation rate.

Numerical simulation of electroosmosis regulated peristaltic transport of Bingham nanofluid

The effects of slip condition and Joule heating on the peristaltic flow of Bingham nanofluid are investigated. The flow is taken in a porous channel with elastic walls. Mathematical formulation is presented under the assumption of long wavelength and small Reynolds number. The transformed equations for the flow are solved to seek values for the nanoparticles velocity, concentration and temperature along the channel length. Graphs are plotted to evaluate the behavior of various physical parameters on flow quantities in both slip and no-slip cases. The main features of the physical parameters are highlighted on the inclined non uniform channel. The results show an increment in velocity with rise in inclination and porosity while it reduces with magnetic field. Moreover, nanofluid favors the heat transfer and decline the concentration.

A Tumor-on-a-Chip System with Bioprinted Blood and Lymphatic Vessel Pair

Current in vitro anti-tumor drug screening strategies are insufficiently portrayed lacking true perfusion and draining microcirculation systems, which may post significant limitation in reproducing the transport kinetics of cancer therapeutics explicitly. Herein, we report the fabrication of an improved tumor model consisting of bioprinted hollow blood vessel and lymphatic vessel pair, hosted in a three-dimensional (3D) tumor microenvironment-mimetic hydrogel matrix, termed as the tumor-on-a-chip with bioprinted blood and lymphatic vessel pair (TOC-BBL). The bioprinted blood vessel was perfusable channel with opening on both ends while the bioprinted lymphatic vessel was blinded on one end, both of which were embedded in a hydrogel tumor mass, with vessel permeability individually tunable through optimization of the composition of the bioinks. We demonstrated that systems with different combinations of these bioprinted blood/lymphatic vessels exhibited varying levels of diffusion profiles for biomolecules and anti-cancer drugs. Our TOC-BBL platform mimicking the natural pathway of drug-tumor interactions would have the drug introduced through the perfusable blood vessel, cross the vascular wall into the tumor tissue via diffusion, and eventually drained into the lymphatic vessel along with the carrier flow. Our results suggested that this unique in vitro tumor model containing the bioprinted blood/lymphatic vessel pair may have the capacity of simulating the complex transport mechanisms of certain pharmaceutical compounds inside the tumor microenvironment, potentially providing improved accuracy in future cancer drug screening.

Concentration-dependent viscosity and thermal radiation effects on MHD peristaltic motion of Synovial Nanofluid: Applications to rheumatoid arthritis treatment

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE

The biomedical fluid which fills the Synovial joint cavity is called Synovial fluid which behaves as in the fluid classifications to Non-Newtonian fluids. Also it's described as a several micrometers thick layer among the interstitial cartilages with very low friction coefficient. Consequently, the present paper opts to investigate the influence of the concentration-dependent viscosity on Magnetohydrodynamic peristaltic flow of Synovial Nanofluid in an asymmetric channel in presence of thermal radiation effect.

METHOD

Our problem is solved for two models, in the first model which referred as Model-(I), viscosity is considered exponentially dependent on the concentration. Model-(2), Shear thinning index is considered as a function of concentration. Those models are introduced for the first time in peristaltic or Nanofluid flows literature. The governing problem is reformulated under the assumption of low Reynolds number and long wavelength. The resulting system of equations is solved numerically with the aid of Parametric ND Solve.

RESULTS

Detailed comparisons have been made between Model-(I) and Model-(2) and found unrealistic results between them. Results for velocity, temperature and nanoparticle concentration distributions as well as pressure gradient and pressure rise are offered graphically for different values of various physical parameters.

CONCLUSIONS

Such models are applicable to rheumatoid arthritis (RA) treatment. Rheumatoid arthritis patients can be treated by applying the magnetic field on an electrically conducting fluid, due to the movement of the ions within the cell which accelerates the metabolism of fluids.

Outlining the impact of melting on MHD Casson fluid flow past a stretching sheet in a porous medium with radiation

This article focused on framing the features of melting heat transfer on magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) Casson fluid flow in a porous medium influenced by thermal radiation. The present model is employed to simulate the viscoelastic behavior of fluid in the porous regime. Firstly, the governing partial differential equations are converted into ordinary differential equations via suitable similarity transformation and then solved the developed nonlinear equations by using Runge-Kutta Fehlberg-45 order method. A detailed analysis of certain parameters on the velocity, temperature, skin friction coefficient, and reduced Nusselt number are illustrated and examined. The results indicate that enlargement in M and Ω decline velocity profile but an opposite trend for temperature. Furthermore, an increment in R and M e results in uphill Nusselt number. The results of the present analysis are compared with the available works in particular situations and more agreement has been observed.

CFPD simulation of magnetic drug delivery to a human lung using an SAW nebulizer

Targeted drug delivery is an impressive topic that attracted the attention of many scientists in various scientific communities. Magnetic drug targeting is one of the targeted drug delivery techniques, which uses the magnetic field to externally control the magnetic drug particles. In this study, we aim to assess the magnetic drug delivery to the human respiratory system using a new aerosolization technique driven by surface acoustic waves (SAWs) into a realistic lung model geometrically reconstructed using computed tomography scan images. To achieve this aim, a simulation study using computational fluid-particle dynamics considering the Lagrangian approach for particle tracking is carried out. An external magnetic field was applied to govern the Magnetit (Fe₃O₄) particles as the magnetic drug career. The drug particles were assumed to be spherical and inert. The effects of magnetic field intensity, magnetic source position, and SAW injection position were examined for a light breathing condition (Q = 15 L/min). Given the realistic geometry of the respiratory system and its complexity, the airflow patterns vary as it penetrates deeper into the lung and experiences many irregularities, and bending deflections exist in the airways model. High-inertia particles tend to deposit at locations where the geometry experiences a significant reduction in cross section. Our results show that the magnetic field highly affects the particle deposition efficiency for fourfold. However, the magnet and SAW injection positions have a low impact on the deposition efficiency of drug particles.

Biomechanical study of magnetohydrodynamic Prandtl nanofluid in a physiological vessel with thermal radiation and chemical reaction

This article is intended to study the peristaltic motion of a Prandtl nanoliquid through an inclined tapered asymmetric channel. The simultaneous effects such as magnetic field, thermal radiation and chemical reactions have been considered. The geometrical model is considered as tapered asymmetric channel because this situation is observed in the flow of uterine fluid in the uterus. The equations governing the flow are simplified under the assumptions of long wavelength and low Reynolds number. The simplified equations are complex in nature, so that the numerical solutions are presented for the simplified nonlinear partial differential equations considering slip and convective boundary conditions using computational software Mathematica via shooting method. The sundry parameters on the flow quantities have been discussed in detail through graphical and tabular forms. The observed results show that rise in the magnetic effects leads to a reduction in velocity. The radiation parameter decreases the temperature and there is an increment in the pressure gradient with an increase in energy Grashof number. This study is encouraged by exploring the nanofluid dynamics in peristaltic transport as symbolized by heat transport in biological flows, novel pharmacodynamic pumps and gastrointestinal motility enhancement.

Free and confined Brownian motion in viscoelastic Stokes-Oldroyd B fluids

We linearize the Stokes-Oldroyd B model for small perturbations and instantaneous hydrodynamic friction to simulate the environment for a free and confined Brownian particle. We use the standard Green's function approach to determine the viscoelasticity, and show that the expression obtained for the frequency dependent viscosity is similar to that given by the Jeffrey's model, though the latter describes viscoelasticity by the bulk storage and loss moduli that is represented by a complex elastic modulus [Formula: see text] of the fluid concerned. In contrast, we consider the characteristics of the polymer chains and the Newtonian solvent of the complex fluid individually, and determine an expression for frequency-dependent viscosity that would be useful for microrheology performed from Brownian trajectories measured in experiments. Finally, we evaluate the trajectory of a free Brownian particle in a viscoelastic environment using our formalism, and calculate various important parameters quantifying Brownian dynamics, which we then extend to the particle confined in a harmonic potential as provided by optical tweezers.
