Abstract
A novel bis-phenylurea-based aliphatic amine (BPUA) was prepared via a facile synthetic route, and evaluated as a potential green organic corrosion inhibitor for carbon steel in 1.0 M HCl solutions. NMR spectroscopy experiments confirmed the preparation of the targeted structure. The corrosion inhibitory behavior of the prospective green compound was explored experimentally by electrochemical methods and theoretically by DFT-based quantum chemical calculations. Obtained results revealed an outstanding performance of BPUA, with efficiency of 95.1% at the inhibitor concentration of 50 mg L-1 at 25 °C. The novel compound has improved the steel resistivity and noticeably reduced the corrosion rate from 33 to 1.7 mils per year. Furthermore, the adsorption study elucidates that the mechanism of the corrosion inhibition activity obeys Langmuir isotherm with mixed physisorption/chemisorption modes for BPUA derivatives on the steel surface. Calculated Gibb's free energy of the adsorption process ranges from -35 to -37 kJ mol-1. The SEM morphology analysis validates the electrochemical measurements and substantiates the corrosion-inhibiting properties of BPUA. Additionally, the eco-toxicity assessment on human epithelial MCF-10A cells proved the environmental friendliness of the BPUA derivatives. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations correlated the inhibitor's chemical structure with the corresponding inhibitory behavior. Quantum descriptors disclosed the potentiality of BPUA adsorption onto the surface through the heteroatom-based functional groups and aromatic rings.

Abstract
In this mini-review, we present our concepts for designing multicomponent reactions with reference to a series of sequential radical reactions that we have developed. Radical reactions are well suited for the design of multicomponent reactions due to their high functional group tolerance and low solvent sensitivity. We have focused on the photolysis of interelement compounds with a heteroatom-heteroatom single bond, which readily generates heteroatom-centered radicals, and have studied the photoinduced radical addition of interelement compounds to unsaturated compounds. First, the background of multicomponent radical reactions is described, and basic concepts and methodology for the construction of multicomponent reactions are explained. Next, examples of multicomponent reactions involving two interelement compounds and one unsaturated compound are presented, as well as examples of multicomponent reactions involving one interelement compound and two unsaturated compounds. Furthermore, multicomponent reactions involving intramolecular cyclization processes are described.

Greenly synthesized zeolites as sustainable materials for corrosion protection: Design, technology and application. Adv Colloid Interface Sci 2023; 314:102868. Abstract
The progress and use of effective and economic anticorrosive resources are in high mandate due to huge safety and economic concerns about corrosion. Significant advancements have already been achieved that help in minimizing corrosion costs up to US $375 to US $875 billion annually. The use of zeolites in anticorrosive and self-healing coatings is well-studied and documented in many reports. The self-healing property of zeolite-based coatings is attributed to their ability to provide anticorrosive protection in the defected areas through forming protective oxide films i.e. passivation. The synthesis of zeolites from the traditional hydrothermal method is associated with several drawbacks including their high cost and discharge of harmful gases such as oxides of nitrogen (NOx) and greenhouse gases (CO2 and CO). In view of this, some green approaches such as solvent-free, organotemplate-free, use of safer organic templates, green solvents (e.g. ILs) and energy efficient (MW and US) heating, one-step reactions (OSRs) etc. are adopted in the green synthesis of zeolites. Recently, the self-healing properties of greenly synthesized zeolites are documented along with their mechanism of corrosion inhibition.

Abstract
The inhibitory capabilities of the sweet yellow capsicum extract (SYCE) toward the rusting of steel rebars in cement pore solution (CPS) were tested employing the electrochemical and mass loss methods. Gallic acid, caffeic acid, p-coumaric acid, ferulic acid, luteolin, and cinnamic acid are the most important constituents in the SYCE extract. By adsorbing them on steel bars, the organic compounds in the CSA extract enable them with an effective mixed-type inhibition, suppressing both anodic and cathodic procedures. At 300 ppm, the highest performances were 95.3 and 97.5% utilizing mass loss and electrochemical approaches, respectively. The activation energy for the corrosion process is greatly increased by the addition of the SYCE extract, going from 13.2 kJ mol-1 (blank solution) to 30.0 kJ mol-1 (300 ppm SYCE extract). The physical adsorption actions of the SYCE extract are described by the Freundlich equilibrium constant's smallest value, which is 0.074 ppm-1. Many future investigators will be attracted by these discoveries to work relentlessly to uncover the anti-corrosion characteristics of novel plant extracts in the area of concrete additives.

Abstract
Surfactants enjoy an augmented share of hydrophilicity and hydrophobicity and are well-known for their anticorrosive potential. The use of non-toxic surfactants is gaining growing interest because of the scaling demands of green chemistry. Green surfactants have successfully replaced traditional toxic surfactant-based corrosion inhibitors. Recently, many reports described the corrosion inhibition potential of green surfactants. The present article aims to describe the recent advancements in using green surfactants in corrosion mitigation. They create a charge transfer barrier through their adsorption at the interface of the metal and the environment. Their adsorption is well explained by the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. In the adsorbed layer, their hydrophilic polar heads orient toward the metal side and their hydrophobic tails orient toward the solution side. They block the active sites and retard the anodic and cathodic and act as mixed-type inhibitors. Their adsorption and bonding nature are fruitfully supported by surface analyses. They can form mono- or multilayers depending upon the nature of the metal, electrolyte and experimental conditions. The challenges and opportunities of using green surfactants as corrosion inhibitors have also been described.

Abstract
Abstract
Semicarbazide (OC(NH2)(N2H3)) and thiosemicarbazide (SC(NH2)(N2H3)) are well-known for their coordination complex formation ability. They contain nonbonding electrons in the form of heteroatoms (N, O and S) and π-electrons in the form of >C=O and >C=S through they strongly coordinate with the metal atoms and ions. Because of their association with this property, the Semicarbazide (SC), thiosemicarbazide (TSC) and their derivatives are widely used for different applications. They serve as building blocks for synthesis of various industrially and biologically useful chemicals. The SC, TSC and they derivatives are also serve as strong aqueous phase corrosion inhibitors. In the present reports, the coordination ability and corrosion protection tendency of Semicarbazide (SC), thiosemicarbazide (TSC) and their derivatives is surveyed and described. These compounds are widely used as inhibitors for different metals and alloys. Through their electron rich sites they adsorb on the metal surface and build corrosion protective film. Their adsorption mostly followed the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. Through their adsorption they increase the value of charge transfer resistance and decrease the value of corrosion current density. Computational studies adopted in the literature indicate that SC, TSC and their derivatives adsorb flatly and spontaneously using charge transfer mechanism.

Abstract
Corrosion is considered to be the most severe problem facing alloys and metals, one that causes potentially dangerous industrial issues such as the deterioration of buildings and machinery, and corrosion in factory tanks and pipelines in petroleum refineries, leading to limited lifetime and weak efficacy of such systems. In this work, novel CeO2-nanoparticle-loaded carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) was successfully prepared by using a simple method. The structural configuration of the prepared CeO2-nanoparticle-loaded CMC was investigated by FE-SEM/EDX, TEM, FT-IR, and thermal analyses. The corrosion protection proficiency of uncoated and coated mild steel with CeO2-CMC systems in 1.0 M HCl solutions was studied by EOCP-time, EIS, and PDP tools. Moreover, the relationship between the structure of coating films and their corrosion protection was confirmed by DFT calculation and MC simulation. The obtained findings from the studied methods showed that the prepared CeO2-CMC-coated films reported high corrosion resistance. The protection capacity augmented with ceria presents an increase of up to 3% to achieve 98.4%. DFT calculation and MC simulation confirmed the influence of the chemical construction of coated films on its protection capacity, which was in accordance with the experimental results.

Abstract
Corrosion is a natural process between a metal and its environment that can gradually cause catastrophic damage to the metal equipment, which would have economic implications. Consequently, several protective methods have been utilized to prevent metals from severe degradation. Organic polymeric coatings have been widely used as the most convenient and cost-effective method to boost metals' anti-corrosion properties. Nonetheless, these coatings have a significant amount of solvent, resulting in shrinkage and micro defects in the films during the curing process. Many studies have verified that transition metal carbides/nitrides (MXenes) can form a "labyrinth effect" in the polymeric coatings due to their "nano-barrier effect". Furthermore, based on their sheet-like structures, they can considerably cover the surface defects of the polymeric films. Therefore, the penetration of corrosive elements can be substantially curbed. It is the first review that specifically focused on the new family of 2D nanomaterials, i.e., MXenes, and discussed their applications in corrosion protection systems. The MXenes' pros and cons in the polymeric matrixes as nanofillers will be clarified. Moreover, the synthesis and functionalization methods of the MXenes, their applications, and corrosion protection mechanism will be explored. Subsequently, the MXenes' superiority over other 2D nanomaterials will be highlighted while their future perspectives and industrial applications will be predicted.

Abstract
The synthesis of novel corrosion inhibitors and biocide metal complex nanoparticle surfactants was achieved through the reaction of sulfonamide with selenious acid to produce a quaternary ammonium salt. Platinum and cobalt surfactants were then formed by complexing the first products with platinum (II) or cobalt (II) ions. The surface properties of these surfactants were then investigated, and the free energy of form micelles (ΔGomic) and adsorption (ΔGoads) was determined. The obtained cationic compounds were evaluated as corrosion inhibitors for carbon steel dissolution in 1N HCl medium. The results of gravimetric and electrochemical measurements showed that the obtained inhibitors were excellent corrosion inhibitors. The anti-sulfate-reducing bacteria activity known to cause corrosion of oil pipes was obtained by the inhibition zone diameter method for the prepared compounds, which were measured against sulfate-reducing bacteria. FTIR spectra, elemental analysis, H1 NMR spectrum, and 13C labeling were performed to ensure the purity of the prepared compounds.

Abstract
Organic inhibitors have been considered as an effective way to control the corrosion of carbon steel weldment in an acidic environment. This work proposes a new green organic inhibitor made of extract of rambutan fruit (Nephelium lappaceum) peel and aims at analyzing its corrosion inhibitor properties and protection mechanism. Specimens of carbon steel weldment were tested for their corrosion by using electrochemical and immersion methods in 1 M HCl solution containing 0 to 6 g/L of Nephelium peel (NP) extract. Results showed that, in the same solution, the corrosion rate was measured to be higher on the weld metal zone than that of base metal zone, which could be related to the coarser grain of the weld metal zone and the stability of the formed oxide layer. The addition of NP extract was found to increase the stability of the oxide layer, thus increasing the corrosion resistance of the specimens. The maximum inhibition efficiency of the NP extract was reached at 97% for weld metal with 5 g/L of extract, at 80% for the heat affected zone with 5 g/L, and at 70% for base metal with 4 g/L. This work reveals the particularity of different weldment zones to the different needs of inhibitor concentration for obtaining the optimum corrosion protection.

Abstract
The inhibition efficiency of cationic surfactants such as 1-ethyl-4H-benzo[d][1,3]thiazin-1-ium bromide (BTB) and N-ethyl-N,N-dioctyloctan-1-aminium bromide (DAB) for X-65 type carbon steel in oil well formation water under a H2S environment has been studied using potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy measurements. Fourier transform infrared and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy techniques were used to confirm the chemical structures of BTB and DAB. The novelty of this work lies in modifying the long chains in the inhibitor, which leads to high efficiency. These surfactants act as good inhibitors, which inhibit both cathodic and anodic routes by adsorption on the electrode surface, which is compatible with the critical micelle concentration parameters, together with a slight positive change in the corrosion potential (E corr). The IE% reached 93.4% for compound BTB and 84% for compound DAB at 250 ppm. The equivalent circuit was used to analyze the model of the corrosion inhibition process. The atomic force microscopy image shows the morphology of the adsorbed layer formed on the steel alloy. Finally, a suitable inhibition mechanism was proposed.

Abstract
Molecular modelling of organic compounds using computational software has emerged as a powerful approach for theoretical determination of the corrosion inhibition potential of organic compounds. Some of the common techniques involved in the theoretical studies of corrosion inhibition potential and mechanisms include density functional theory (DFT), molecular dynamics (MD) and Monte Carlo (MC) simulations, and artificial neural network (ANN) and quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR) modeling. Using computational modelling, the chemical reactivity and corrosion inhibition activities of organic compounds can be explained. The modelling can be regarded as a time-saving and eco-friendly approach for screening organic compounds for corrosion inhibition potential before their wet laboratory synthesis would be carried out. Another advantage of computational modelling is that molecular sites responsible for interactions with metallic surfaces (active sites or adsorption sites) and the orientation of organic compounds can be easily predicted. Using different theoretical descriptors/parameters, the inhibition effectiveness and nature of the metal-inhibitor interactions can also be predicted. The present review article is a collection of major advancements in the field of computational modelling for the design and testing of the corrosion inhibition effectiveness of organic corrosion inhibitors.

Abstract
Gum Arabic (GA) is a plant exudate, consisting of glycoproteins (proteins with carbohydrate co-factor or prosthetic group) and polysaccharides mainly consisting of galactose and arabinose. Because of its polymeric nature and tendency to dissolve in water, GA is widely used as anticorrosive materials, especially in the aqueous electrolytes. GA contains various electron rich polar sites through which they easily get adsorbed on metallic surface and behaves as effective anticorrosive materials. Because of its natural and biological origin, GA is regarded as one of the environmental sustainable and edible alternatives to traditional toxic corrosion inhibitors. Present review piece of writing aims to illustrate the assortment of literatures on gum Arabic as a corrosion inhibitor. Limitation of traditional organic corrosion inhibitors and advantages of using GA as an environmental sustainable alternative have also been described along with the mechanism of corrosion inhibition.
