Abstract
To better understand the molecular interactions between cetyltrimethylammonium chloride (CTAC) and bovine serum albumin (BSA), we report the alteration of the physicochemical characteristics of CTAC in aqueous BSA solutions in the presence of different alcohols. The analyses were performed using the conductivity method at temperatures ranging from 298.15 to 323.15 K, with 5 K intervals. The critical micelle concentration (CMC) values of the BSA + CTAC systems were found to change with variations in alcohol types, solvent compositions, and temperatures. The CMC values grew with the rising of alcohol contents. The negative free energy changes (∆Gm0) indicated the spontaneous association of the systems in all solvents media. The magnitudes of ∆Hm0 and ∆Sm0, determined from the micellization of the systems, indicated the presence of electrostatic, ion-dipole, and hydrophobic forces. The thermodynamics of transfer (free energy (∆Gm,tr0), enthalpy (∆Hm,tr0), entropy (∆Sm,tr0)), and compensation parameters (∆Hm0,∗ and Tc)-were also calculated, which provided significant insights into the potential interactions between CTAC and BSA in the presence of various alcohol additives. Furthermore, molecular docking studies suggested the binding of CTAC to different BSA binding sites with varying affinities.

Abstract
The research and development of alternatives to long-chain fluorocarbon surfactants are desperately needed because they are extremely toxic, difficult to break down, seriously harm the environment, and limit the use of conventional aqueous film-forming foam fire extinguishing agents. In this study, mixed surfactant systems containing the short-chain fluorocarbon surfactant perfluorohexanoic acid (PFHXA) and the hydrocarbon surfactant sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) were investigated by molecular dynamics simulation to investigate the microscopic properties at the air/water interface at different molar ratios. Some representative parameters, such as surface tension, degree of order, density distribution, radial distribution function, number of hydrogen bonds, and solvent-accessible surface area, were calculated. Molecular dynamics simulations show that compared with a single type of surfactant, mixtures of surfactants provide superior performance in improving the interfacial properties of the gas-liquid interface. A dense monolayer film is formed by the strong synergistic impact of the two surfactants. Compared to the pure SDS system, the addition of PFHXA caused SDS to be more vertically oriented at the air/water interface with a reduced tilt angle, and a more ordered structure of the mixed surfactants was observed. Hydrogen bonding between SDS headgroups and water molecules is enhanced with the increasing PFHXA. The surface activity is arranged in the following order: PFHXA/SDS = 1:1 > PFHXA/SDS = 3:1 > PFHXA/SDS = 1:3. These results indicate that a degree of synergistic relationship exists between PFHXA and SDS at the air/water interface.

Abstract
Pepsin is a proteolytic enzyme used in the treatment of digestive disorders. In this study, we investigated the physicochemical properties of the tetradecyltrimethylammonium bromide (TTAB) and pepsin protein mixture in various sodium salt media within a temperature range of 300.55-320.55 K with 5 K intervals. The conductometric study of the TTAB+pepsin mixture revealed a reduction in the critical micelle concentration (CMC) in electrolyte media. The micellization of TTAB was delayed in the presence of pepsin. The CMC of the TTAB + pepsin mixture was found to depend on the concentrations of electrolytes and protein, as well as the temperature variations. The aggregation of the TTAB+pepsin mixture was hindered as a function of [pepsin] and increasing temperatures, while micellization was promoted in aqueous electrolyte solutions. The negative free energy changes (∆Gm0) indicated the spontaneous aggregation of the TTAB+pepsin mixture. Changes in enthalpy, entropy, molar heat capacities, transfer properties, and enthalpy-entropy compensation variables were calculated and illustrated rationally. The interaction forces between TTAB and pepsin protein in the experimental solvents were primarily hydrophobic and electrostatic (ion-dipole) in nature. An analysis of molecular docking revealed hydrophobic interactions as the main stabilizing forces in the TTAB-pepsin complex.

Abstract
Ionic additives affect the structure, activity and stability of lipases, which allow for solving common application challenges, such as preventing the formation of protein aggregates or strengthening enzyme-support binding, preventing their desorption in organic media. This work aimed to design a biocatalyst, based on lipase improved by the addition of ionic additives, applicable in the production of ethyl esters of fatty acids (EE). Industrial enzymes from Thermomyces lanuginosus (TLL), Rhizomucor miehei (RML), Candida antárctica B (CALB) and Lecitase®, immobilized in commercial supports like Lewatit®, Purolite® and Q-Sepharose®, were tested. The best combination was achieved by immobilizing lipase TLL onto Q-Sepharose® as it surpassed, in terms of %EE (70.1%), the commercial biocatalyst Novozyme® 435 (52.7%) and was similar to that of Lipozyme TL IM (71.3%). Hence, the impact of ionic additives like polymers and surfactants on both free and immobilized TLL on Q-Sepharose® was assessed. It was observed that, when immobilized, in the presence of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), the TLL derivative exhibited a significantly higher activity, with a 93-fold increase (1.02 IU), compared to the free enzyme under identical conditions (0.011 IU). In fatty acids ethyl esters synthesis, Q-SDS-TLL novel derivatives achieved results similar to commercial biocatalysts using up to ~82 times less enzyme (1 mg/g). This creates an opportunity to develop biocatalysts with reduced enzyme consumption, a factor often associated with higher production costs. Such advancements would ease their integration into the biodiesel industry, fostering a greener production approach compared to conventional methods.

Abstract
The investigation of the micellization of a mixture of cetylpyridinium bromide (CPB) and levofloxacin hemihydrate (LFH) was carried out by a conductivity technique in aqueous and aq. additive mixtures, including NaCl, NaOAc, NaBenz, 4-ABA, and urea. The aggregation behavior of the CPB + LFH mixture was studied considering the variation in additive contents and the change in experimental temperature. The micelle formation of the CPB + LFH mixture was examined from the breakpoint observed in the specific conductivity versus surfactant concentration plots. Different micellar characteristics, such as the critical micelle concentration (CMC) and the extent of counter ion bound (β), were evaluated for the CPB + LFH mixture. The CMC and β were found to undergo a change with the types of solvents, composition of solvents, and working temperatures. The ΔG0m values of the CPB + LFH system in aqueous and aq. additive solutions were found to be negative, which denotes a spontaneous aggregation phenomenon of the CPB + LFH system. The changes in ΔH0m and ΔS0m for the CPB + LFH mixture were also detected with the alteration in the solvent nature and solution temperature. The ΔH0m and ΔS0m values obtained for the association of the CPB + LFH mixture reveal that the characteristic interaction forces may possibly be ion-dipole, dipole-dipole, and hydrophobic between CPB and LFH. The thermodynamics of transfer and ΔH0m-ΔS0m compensation variables were also determined. All the parameters computed in the present investigation are illustrated with proper logic.

Abstract
The polymer-surfactant mixture has usages in numerous industries mainly in the production of daily used materials. Herein, the micellization and phase separation nature of the sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) and TX-100 along with a synthetic water-soluble polymer-polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) have been conducted using conductivity and cloud point (CP) measurement tools. In the case of micellization study of SDS + PVA mixture by conductivity method, the CMC values were obtained to be dependent on the categories and extent of additives as well as temperature variation. Both categories of studies were performed in aq. solutions of sodium chloride (NaCl), sodium acetate (NaOAc), and sodium benzoate (NaBenz) media. The CP values of TX 100 + PVA were decreased and enhanced in simple electrolytes and sodium benzoate media respectively. In all cases, the free energy changes of micellization (∆Gm0) and clouding (∆Gc0) were obtained as negative and positive respectively. The enthalpy (∆Hm0) and entropy (∆Sm0) changes for SDS + PVA system micellization was negative and positive respectively in aq. NaCl and NaBenz media, and in aq. NaOAc medium the ∆Hm0 values were found negative while ∆Sm0 were found negative except at the highest studied temperature (323.15 K). The enthalpy-entropy compensation of both processes was also assessed and described clearly.

Abstract
Understanding the chemo-mechanical mechanisms that direct the motion of self-propulsive colloids is important for the development of active materials and exploration of dynamic, collective phenomena. Here, we demonstrate that the adsorption of solid particles on the surface of solubilizing oil droplets can significantly enhance the droplets' self-propulsion speeds. We investigate the relationship between the self-propulsion of bromodecane oil droplets containing silica particles of varying concentration in Triton X-100 surfactant, noting up to order of magnitude increases in propulsion speeds. Using fluorescently labeled silica, we observe packing of the particles at the oil-water interfaces of the rear pole of the moving droplets. For bromodecane oil droplets in Triton X-100, the highest droplet speeds were achieved at approximately 40% particle surface coverage of the droplet interface. We find particle-assisted propulsion enhancement in ionic surfactants and different oil droplet compositions as well, demonstrating the breadth of this effect. While a precise mechanism for the propulsion enhancement remains unclear, the simple addition of silica particles to droplet oil-water interfaces provides a straightforward route to tune active droplet dynamics.

Abstract
Abstract
Interaction of sodium carboxymethylcellulose (SCMC) with cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB; cationic in nature) in H2O and additives (alcohols and diols) media has been investigated using conductivity technique. The micellar parameters such as critical micelle concentration (cmc), fraction of counter ion binding (β), thermodynamic parameters, transfer properties, and enthalpy-entropy compensation parameters of CTAB + SCMC mixture have been assessed in water and aq. alcohols/diols media. One cmc value was achieved for CTAB + SCMC mixtures in the entire circumstances and the attendance of SCMC disfavors the CTAB micellization. The cmc values were obtained to be greater in alcohols and diols media compared to H2O medium. The cmc values also exhibit a dependency on the solvent composition and temperature variation. In all the cases, the ΔG

values were achieved to be negative which signifying the spontaneous formation of micelles while the extent of spontaneity is decreased in alcohols and diols media. Both the ΔH

reveal that hydrophobic, ion-dipole as well as electrostatic interactions are the proposed binding forces between CTAB and SCMC. The compensation parameters (ΔH

Abstract
Noble metal nanomaterials are particularly suitable as photothermal transduction agents (PTAs) with high photothermal conversion efficiency (PCE) due to local surface plasmon resonance (LSPR). Studies on different gold-platinum (Au-Pt) bimetal nanoparticles exhibiting the LSPR effect have provided a new idea for the synthesis of excellent PTAs. But there is no simple and scalable method for the controllable synthesis of Au-Pt nanoparticles with adjustable LSPR wavelength range. In this work, the effects of Ag+ and K2PtCl4 on the deposition of Pt on the surface of gold nanorods (AuNRs) were investigated. A fast, precise, and controlled synthesis of dumbbell-like Pt-coated AuNRs (Au@Pt NRs) under mild conditions is proposed. The synthesized Au@Pt NRs have a longitudinal LSPR wavelength of 812 nm, which is very close to a common laser wavelength of 808 nm. The Au@Pt NRs exhibit excellent photothermal properties when irradiated with a laser. The temperature increased by more than 36 °C after irradiation for 10 min, with a PCE of about 78.77%, which is much higher than that of AuNRs (57.33%). In addition, even after four on/off cycles, the Au@Pt NRs are able to maintain the photothermal properties and retain their optical properties, indicating that they have excellent photothermal stability and reusability.

Abstract
Green surfactants alkyl glycosides are key to solve the inherent problem of water solubility due to their commercial application and extensive scientific research. Based on the enhancement strategy of hydrophilicity through the reconstruction of the conventional alkyl β-d-maltoside by introducing an oxyethyl group (-OCH2CH2-), d-maltose was used to prepare a series of nonionic disaccharide-based surfactants alkoxyethyl β-d-maltosides (4a-h, n = 6-16) so that the related water solubility was effectively improved, while the corresponding surface activity and other excellent properties were still maintained. Their physicochemical properties, including water solubility, surface activity, moisture absorption, and thermotropic liquid crystalline behavior, were investigated. The liquid crystal texture of alkoxyethyl β-d-maltosides (n = 7-16) has a fan-shaped focal conic texture. Furthermore, decoxyethyl β-d-maltoside had the strongest foaming characteristic and the best foam stability. Moreover, dodecoxyethyl β-d-maltoside (4f, n =12) had stronger emulsifying activity in the rapeseed oil/water system. Finally, CTAC/4f binary surfactants had an obvious synergistic effect. Such β-d-maltosides should have good application prospects in the future.

Abstract
Herein, a conductivity method was engaged to explore the effects of a fluoroquinolone drug, namely ciprofloxacin hydrochloride (CFH)/CFH + polyols (organic compounds with multiple hydroxyl groups (glucose and fructose)), on the aggregation phenomenon of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) at different temperatures (298.15–318.15 K) while maintaining a gap of 5 K. In this study, the critical micelle concentration (cmc) of the SDS/SDS + CFH mixture in water and polyols media was determined from plots of the specific conductivity versus the concentration of SDS to gain knowledge of the effects of CFH/CFH + polyols on the micelle formation behavior of SDS. The cmc value of the surfactant decreases in the presence of CFH in an aqueous medium; thus, CFH favors the micellization of SDS. The cmc values of SDS and the SDS + CFH mixture were enhanced in polyols media. The cmc values of SDS/SDS + CFH show a U-shaped behavior with temperature. The counterion dissociation (α) of the pure surfactant is higher in the presence of the drug and is further enhanced through an increase in the CFH concentration in water/polyols media. Different thermodynamic parameters, such as the Gibbs free energy of micellization , standard enthalpy , entropy , different transfer energies and enthalpy–entropy compensation parameters of micellization were determined and illustrated in detail to compare these parameters between the pure SDS and SDS + CFH mixture in polyols media. The negative values of for the SDS/SDS + CFH mixture in all cases indicate spontaneous micelle formation. The and values indicate the presence of both hydrophobic and electrostatic interactions amongst the studied components. Abstract
Dioxyethene fragment (-(OCH2CH2)2-) was introduced into traditional alkyl β-d-glucopyranosides to ameliorate the water solubility, and eight nonionic surfactants, that is, alkoxy ethoxyethyl β-d-glucopyranosides with alkyl chain lengths (n = 6-16), were synthesized and characterized. Their hydrophilic and lipophilic balance number, water solubility, critical micelle concentration (cmc), γcmc, Γmax, and hygroscopic rate decreased with an increase in the alkyl chain length. Hexadecoxy ethoxyethyl β-d-glucopyranoside had no water solubility at 25 °C. Decoxy ethoxyethyl β-d-glucopyranoside had the best emulsifying property in the toluene/water and n-octane/water systems and the strongest foaming property, whereas dodecoxy ethoxyethyl β-d-glucopyranoside had the best emulsifying property in the rapeseed oil/water system. Such β-d-glucopyranosides (n = 6-12) exhibited excellent surface activity. In addition, for the binary mixture of alkoxy ethoxyethyl β-d-glucopyranosides (n = 8, 10, 12) and sodium dodecyl sulfate or cetyl trimethyl ammonium chloride, their cmc values were lower than the pure β-d-glucopyranosides, indicating that they had synergistic interactions. The fan focal conic textures of alkoxy ethoxyethyl β-d-glucopyranosides (n = 7-16) were observed during the cooling process under a polarizing optical microscope. Alkoxy ethoxyethyl β-d-glucopyranosides (n = 14, 16) had the related melting points and the clear points with differential scanning calorimetry. With β-d-glucopyranosides (n = 6-16) and n-butanol as the surfactant and cosurfactant, respectively, and with cyclohexane as the oil phase, the related microemulsion areas in their pseudoternary phase diagram system were investigated with the visual observation at 25 °C. Along with the slashing requirements of petroleum consumption, environmental protection, and green and sustainable development, nonionic sugar-based alkoxy ethoxyethyl β-d-glucopyranosides should be expected to have their potential practical application because of their strengthened hydrophilicity, improved water solubility, and enhanced surface activity.

Abstract
Anionic surfactants were widespread used in car cleaning agents, household detergents, agricultural and industrial processes, and considered as a major source of environmental pollutant. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a fast, simple, highly selective and sensitive probe for the detection of anionic surfactants. Here, we synthesized two aggregation induced emission (AIE)-active molecules 4,4',4″,4‴-(ethene-1,1,2,2-tetrayltetrakis(benzene-4,1-diyl))tetrakis (1-(4-bromobenzyl)pyridin-1-ium) bromide (TPE-Br) and 4,4',4″,4‴-(ethene-1,1,2,2-trayltetrakis(benzene-4,1-diyl))tetrakis(1-methylpyridin-1-ium)iodide (TPE-I), which were then applied as fluorescence probes for detecting sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) with high selectivity and sensitivity. In the presence of SDS, a multi-fold fluorescence emission intensity enhancement was observed in both two probes (TPE-Br and TPE-I) due to the electrostatic self-assembly of AIE molecular. The limits of detection are 71.5 and 120 nM for TPE-Br and TPE-I, respectively. This study may provide a new strategy for environmental monitoring by AIE-based fluorescent probe.
