Abstract
Bacterial infections have become a serious threat to public health. The utilization of antibacterial textiles offers an effective way to combat bacterial infections at the source, instead of relying solely on antibiotic consumption. Herein, efficient and durable antibacterial fibers based on quercetin and cellulose were prepared by a triaxial microfluidic spinning technology using ionic liquids (ILs) as the solvents. It was indicated that the structure and properties of the antibacterial fibers were affected by the type of IL and the flow rates during the triaxial microfluidic spinning process. Quercetin regenerated from [Emim]Ac underwent structural transformation and obtained an increased water solubility, while quercetin regenerated from [Emim]DEP remained unchanged, which was proven by FI-IR, XRD, and UV analyses. Furthermore, antibacterial fibers regenerated from [Emim]Ac exhibited the highest antibacterial activity of 96.9% against S. aureus, achieved by reducing the inner-to-outer flow rate ratio to 0 and concentrating quercetin at the center of fibers. On the other hand, when [Emim]DEP was used as the solvent, balancing the inner-to-outer flow rate ratio to concentrate quercetin in the middle layer of the fiber was optimal for achieving the best antibacterial activity of 93.3% because it promised both the higher encapsulation efficiency and release rate. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) mathematically predicted the solvent exchange process during triaxial spinning, explaining the influence of IL types and flow rates on quercetin distribution and encapsulation efficiency. It was indicated that optimizing the distribution of antibacterial agents within the fibers can fully unleash its antibacterial potential while preserving the mechanical properties of the fiber. Therefore, the proposed simple triaxial spinning strategy provides valuable insights into the design of biomedical materials.

Abstract
This review summarizes the recent advances in preparing cellulose hydrogels via ionic liquid-based processes and the applications of regenerated cellulose hydrogels/iongels in electrochemical materials, separation membranes, and 3D printing bioinks. Cellulose is the most abundant natural polymer, which has attracted great attention due to the demand for eco-friendly and sustainable materials. The sustainability of cellulose products also depends on the selection of the dissolution solvent. The current state of knowledge in cellulose preparation, performed by directly dissolving in ionic liquids and then regenerating in antisolvents, as described in this review, provides innovative ideas from the new findings presented in recent research papers and with the perspective of the current challenges.

Abstract
In this study, a novel magnetic bio-adsorbent was synthesized by modifying cotton linter (CL) cellulose with deep eutectic solvents (DESs) and Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles. The adsorption capacity of CL, Fe3O4/CL, Fe3O4/CL-oxidation, and Fe3O4/CL-DES for Cu2+ was 11.0, 66.1, 85.7, and 93.1 mg g-1, respectively, under the optimal adsorption conditions of an initial pH value of 6.0, stirring rate of 300 rpm, and a temperature of 30 °C. The presence of Fe3O4 nanoparticles increased the proportion of hydroxyl groups and thus improved the ion-exchange ability of Cu2+. The dissolution of DES significantly decreased fiber crystallinity and increased the number of hydroxyl group (amorphous regions increased), thus improving the chelation reaction of Cu2+, which was favorable for surface adsorption. In addition, we used the Langmuir and Freundlich isothermal models to simulate the adsorption behavior of Fe3O4/CL-DES, and the results indicated that Cu2+ follows a Freundlich isotherm model of multilayer adsorption. The fitting of the adsorption kinetics model indicated that the adsorption process involves multiple adsorption mechanisms and can be described by a quasi-second-order model. These results provide a potential method for the preparation of high-efficiency adsorbents from low-value cotton linter, which has broad application prospects in wastewater treatment.

Abstract
Regenerated cellulose fiber (RCF) is an environmentally friendly material with outstanding mechanical properties and recyclability, which has been used in a large number of applications. However, during the spinning process using ionic liquids (ILs) as solvents, the dissolved cellulose continues to degrade and even produces degradation products such as glucose, which can enter the recycled solvent and coagulation bath. The presence of glucose can seriously affect the performance of the produced RCFs and hinder their applications, so it has become critical to clarify the regulation and mechanism of this process. In this study, 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium diethyl phosphate ([Emim]DEP) with different glucose contents was selected to dissolve wood pulp cellulose (WPC) and obtained RCFs in different coagulation baths. The effect of glucose content in spinning solution on fiber spinnability was investigated by rheological analysis, and the influence of coagulation bath composition and glucose content on the morphological characteristics and mechanical properties of the RCFs was also studied in depth. The results indicated that the morphology, crystallinity, and orientation factor of RCFs were influenced by the presence of glucose in the spinning solution or coagulation bath, resulting in corresponding changes in mechanical properties, which can provide practical reference and guidance for the industrial production of new type fiber.

Abstract
Two polymerizable ionic liquids (or monomeric ionic liquids, mILs) namely 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium and choline acrylates ([C4mim]A and ChA, respectively) were synthesized using the modified Fukumoto method from corresponding chlorides. The chemical structure of the prepared mILs was confirmed with FTIR and NMR study. Investigation of the thermal properties with DSC demonstrates that both mILs have a Tg temperature of about 180 K and a melting point around 310 K. It was shown that the temperature dependence of FTIR confirm the Tg to be below 200. Both mILs exhibited non-Newtonian shear thinning rheological behavior at shear rates >4 s−1. It was shown that [C4mim]A is able to dissolve bacterial cellulose (BC) leading to a decrease in its degree of polymerization and recrystallisation upon regeneration with water; although in the ChA, the crystalline structure and nanofibrous morphology of BC was preserved. It was demonstrated that the thixotropic and rheological properties of cellulose dispersion in ChA at room temperature makes this system a prospective ink for 3D printing with subsequent UV-curing. The 3D printed filaments based on ChA, containing 2 wt% of BC, and 1% of N,N′-methylenebisacrylamide after radical polymerization induced with 1% 2-hydroxy-2-methylpropiophenone, demonstrated Young’s modulus 7.1 ± 1.0 MPa with 1.2 ± 0.1 MPa and 40 ± 5% of strength and ultimate elongation, respectively.

Abstract
The increasing demand for cellulosic fibres is continuously driven by the growing earth population and requirements of the textile industry. The annual cotton production of ca. 25 million tons is no longer enough to meet the market demands. This market gap of cellulosic fibres is progressively filled by regenerated cellulosic fibres derived from the dissolving pulp. The conventional industrial process of viscose production is far from being environmentally friendly due to the use of hazardous reagents. Alternatively, new trends in the production of regenerated fibres are related to the direct dissolution of cellulose in appropriate environmentally sound recyclable solvents, allowing high quality rayon fibres. This article reviews the sources of dissolving pulps used for the production of viscose and its quality parameters related to the performance of viscose production. The prospective cellulose regeneration processes, both commercialized and under development, are reviewed regarding current and future developments in the area.

Abstract
In this study, we developed a novel method to prepare chemical fibers by plasticizing cotton with 1-allyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride (AMIMCl) under high temperature and pressure. Cotton was homogeneously mixed with AMIMCl by kneading in a certain mass proportion. It would be a sheet after hot-pressing and this process could be repeated several times. The morphologies of chemical fibers showed that cotton was successfully plasticized by AMIMCl with the crystallinity of the chemical fibers increased by about 15%. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) showed that the glass transition temperature (Tg) occurred in chemical fibers and we could further verify cotton was plasticized by AMIMCl. This simple and green method will be helpful to modify and broaden the application field of cotton.
