Abstract
A stable crystalline organic porous salt (CPOSs-NXU-1) with 1D apertures has been assembled by the solvothermal method, which shows high-sensitivity "turn-on" fluorescence detection and large-capacity adsorption of As(III) ions in water. The detection limits, saturated adsorption capacity, and removal rate of CPOSs-NXU-1 for As(III) ions in an aqueous solution can reach 74.34 nm (5.57 ppb), 451.01 mg g-1, and 99.6%, respectively, at pH = 7 and room temperature. With the aid of XPS, IR, Raman, and DFT theoretical calculations, it is determined that CPOSs-NXU-1 adsorbed As(III) ions in the form of H2AsO3 - and H3AsO3 through hydrogen bonding between the host and guest. The mechanism for fluorescence sensitization of As(III) ions to CPOSs-NXU-1 is mainly to increase the energy level difference between the ground state and excited state investigated by UV-vis absorption spectra, UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectra, and theoretical calculations. By constructing fluorescent CPOSs, an integrated solution has been achieved to treating As(III) contamination in the water that is equipped with detection and removal. These results blaze a promising path for addressing trivalent arsenic contamination in water efficiently, rapidly, and economically.

Abstract
As a notable toxic substance, metalloid arsenic (As) widely exists in water body and drinking As-contaminated water for an extended period of time can result in serious health concerns. Here, the performance of nanoscale zero-valent iron (nZVI) modified N-doped biochar (NBC) composites (nZVI@NBC) activated peroxydisulfate (PDS) for As(III) removal was investigated. The removal efficiencies of As(III) with initial concentration ranging from 50 to 1000 μg/L were above 99% (the residual total arsenic below 10 μg/L, satisfying the contaminant limit for arsenic in drinking water) within 10 min by nZVI@NBC (0.2 g/L)/PDS (100 μM). As(III) removal efficiency influenced by reaction time, PDS dosage, initial concentration, pH, co-existing ions, and natural organic matter in nZVI@NBC/PDS system were investigated. The nZVI@NBC composite is magnetic and could be conveniently collected from aqueous solutions. In practical applications, nZVI@NBC/PDS has more than 99% As(III) removal efficiency in various water bodies (such as deionized water, piped water, river water, and lake water) under optimized operation parameters. Radical quenching and EPR analysis revealed that SO4·- and ·OH play important roles in nZVI@NBC/PDS system, and the possible reaction mechanism was further proposed. These results suggest that nZVI@NBC activated peroxydisulfate may be an efficient and fast approach for the removal of water contaminated with As(III).

Insights into the statistical physics modeling and fractal like kinetic approach for the adsorption of As(III) on coordination polymer gel based on zirconium(IV) and 2-thiobarbituric acid. JOURNAL OF HAZARDOUS MATERIALS 2023; 457:131783. Abstract
A novel coordination polymer gel based on zirconium(IV) and 2-thiobarbituric (ZrTBA) was synthesized and explored its potential to remediate As(III) from water. Box-Behnken design with desirability function and genetic algorithm yielded the optimized conditions (initial concentration=194 mg L-1, dosage = 42.2 mg, time= 95 min and pH = 4.9) for maximum removal efficiency (99.19 %). The experimental saturation capacity for As(III) was 178.30 mg g-1. The steric parameter n > 1 of the best fitted statistical physics model: monolayer with two energies (R2 = 0.987-0.992) suggested multimolecular mechanism with vertical orientation of As(III) molecules onto the two active sites. XPS and FTIR confirmed the two active sites being zirconium and oxygen. The adsorption energies (E1 = 35.81-37.63 kJ/mol; E2 = 29.50-36.49 kJ/mol) and isosteric heat of adsorption indicated that physical forces governed the As(III) uptake. DFT calculations implied that the weak electrostatic interaction and hydrogen bonding were involved. The best fitted (R2>0.99) fractal like pseudo first order model established energetic heterogeneity. ZrTBA showed excellent removal efficiency in the presence of potential interfering ions and could be used up to 5 cycles of adsorption-desorption with < 8 % loss in the efficiency. ZrTBA removed ≥96.06 % As(III) from real water samples spiked at different levels of As(III).

Abstract
Arsenic contamination is a severe issue because of its toxicity and related health risks. This review article presents an overview of the sources, health hazards, and treatment options for arsenic pollution. Conventional approaches to achieving the permitted level of 10 ppb set by the WHO, such as chemical oxidation, biological oxidation, and coagulation-flocculation, are ineffective and time-consuming. The paper analyses the advantages and disadvantages of various advanced treatment technologies, including membrane filtration, ion exchange, advanced oxidation, phytoremediation, and adsorption. This paper summarized the effectiveness of hybrid arsenic remediation techniques in removing arsenic and its operating conditions. This study is a helpful tool for putting remediation strategies into practice. This article describes arsenic pollution's damaging effects on human health, underscoring the necessity for careful treatment. The article addresses numerous treatment technologies, each with advantages and disadvantages preventing widespread use. Due to these limitations, deciding the best technique for arsenic remediation is difficult. As a result, hybrid treatment systems are urgently needed, with photocatalysis-adsorption being the most popular approach. The relevance of adaptable, user-friendly, low-maintenance hybrid technologies that are versatile, easy to use, and provide affordable arsenic removal options, especially for poor populations, is highlighted by prospects.

Abstract
This contribution aims to demonstrate the scope of new hybrids between biomass and metal-organic frameworks (MOF@biomass) used in the adsorption process of pollutants. After a brief presentation of the use of the main series of MOFs as efficient adsorbents for different types of pollutants, the limitations of these structures related to particle size and hydrodynamic problems during their application are highlighted. Lignocellulosic biomasses are also recognized as an alternative adsorbent, mainly due to their high natural abundance and their low environmental impact during and after their application. The limited capacity of bioadsorbents becomes important in this research. Consequently, the largest amount of information existing in the last ten years on MOF-Biomass functionalization as a hybrid and improvement technology for adsorption processes is compiled, analyzed, compared and contrasted. So far, there is no evidence of works that exploit the concept of functionalization of adsorbents of different nature to give rise to new hybrid materials. Through this review it was found that the hybrids obtained show a higher adsorption capacity (Qe) compared to their precursors, due to the increase of organic functional groups provided by the biomass. Thus, for heavy metals, dyes, Arsenium anions and other organic and pharmaceutical compounds, there are increases in Qe of about 100 mg g-1. The possibility of the new hybrid being studied for desorption and reuse processes is also raised, resulting in a new line of research that is attractive for the industry from an economic and environmental point of view. The functionalization methods and techniques used in the studies cited in this article are outlined. In conclusion, this research brings a new horizon of study in the field of adsorption and mentions the main future challenges related to new sustainable applications.

Abstract
Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) derived from recycled polyester (polyethylene terephthalate, PET) bottles were investigated in both batch and column studies for the removal of arsenate. As-synthesized Fe-MOF, Zr-MOF, and La-MOF were systematically analyzed by SEM, PXRD, FTIR, BET, and XPS techniques. The obtained MOFs showed high crystallinity with the specific surface areas of 128.3, 290.4, and 61.8 m2/g for Fe-MOF, Zr-MOF, and La-MOF, respectively. The Langmuir isotherm and pseudo-second-order kinetic model simulated arsenate adsorption on MOF materials well, which can be explained by electrostatic interactions, surface complexation, and ligand exchange mechanisms. The maximum adsorption capacities of arsenate onto Fe-MOF, Zr-MOF, and La-MOF were found to be 70.02, 85.72, and 114.28 mg/g at pH 7, respectively. The effect of pH and co-existing anions on the arsenate adsorption on MOF materials was also evaluated for practical applications. The MOF materials showed reduced adsorption capacity for arsenate by less than 10% up to four cycles of regeneration and did not induce any significant (p > 0.05) acute toxicity (<2.5% mortality) in Daphnia magna. In a flow-through system, Fe-MOF, Zr-MOF, and La-MOF were used to treat 176, 255, and 398 mL bed volumes of arsenate contaminated water, respectively, and consistently reduced the concentration of arsenate ions from 500 to 10 μg/L. This study clearly demonstrated that MOF materials derived from waste PET bottles are economically promising adsorbents for the successful elimination of arsenate species from aqueous environments.

Abstract
Anion pollution in water has become a problem that cannot be ignored. The anion concentration should be controlled below the national emission standard to meet the demand for clean water. Among the methods for removing excess anions in water, the adsorption method has a unique removal performance, and the core of the adsorption method is the adsorbent. In recent years, the emerging metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have the advantages of adjustable porosity, high specific surface area, diverse functions, and easy modification. They are very competitive in the field of adsorption of liquid anions. This article focuses on the adsorption of fluoride, arsenate, chromate, radioactive anions (ReO4-, TcO4-, SeO42-/SeO32-), phosphate ion, chloride ion, and other anions by MOFs and their derivatives. The preparation methods of MOFs are introduced in turn, the application of different types of metal-based MOFs to adsorb various anions were discussed in categories with their crystal structure and functional groups. The influence on the adsorption of anions is analyzed, including the more common and special adsorption mechanisms, adsorption kinetics and thermodynamics, and regeneration performance are briefly described. Finally, the current situation of MOFs adsorption of anions is summarized, and the outlook for future development is summarized to provide my own opinions for the practical application of MOFs.

Abstract
Biochar prepared by co-pyrolysis of nano-zero-valent iron and sewage sludge (nZVISB) was used to remove As(Ⅴ) from aqueous solution. When the initial pH was 2, the initial As(Ⅴ) concentration was 20 mg L-1, the dose of nZVISB was 10 g L-1, the contact time was 24 h, and the adsorption temperature was 298K, the removal efficiency of As(Ⅴ) was greater than 99%. The isothermal removal of As(Ⅴ) followed the Freundlich model better, and the maximum adsorption capacity of As(Ⅴ) was 60.61 mg g-1. The removal process of As(Ⅴ) could be better described by pseudo-second-order kinetic model, and the rate-controlling step should be liquid film diffusion and chemical reaction. Thermodynamic analysis indicated that the removal of As(Ⅴ) was a spontaneous and endothermic process dominated by chemical adsorption. The characterizations of nZVISB before/after adsorption and the solution after adsorption suggested that the iron-containing substances (Fe0, Fe2+, FeOOH) and organics in the nZVISB had a great effect on the removal of As(Ⅴ), and the As was mainly immobilized on nZVISB by speciation of As-O-Fe.

Abstract
Arsenic is a toxic element for humans and a major pollutant in drinking water. Natural and anthropogenic sources can release As into water bodies. The countries with the greatest arsenic contamination issues lack the affordable technology to attain the maximum permitted concentrations. Adsorption can be a highly efficient and low-cost option for advanced water treatment, and the development of new cheap adsorbents is essential to expand access to water with a safe concentration of arsenic. This paper aims to review the state of the art of arsenic adsorption from water in continuous mode and the latest progress in the regeneration and recovery of arsenic. The disposal of the exhausted bed is also discussed. Fixed-bed column tests conducted with novel adsorbents like binary metal oxides and biosorbents achieved the highest adsorption capacities of 28.95 mg/g and 74.8 mg/g, respectively. Iron-coated materials presented the best results compared to adsorbents under other treatments. High recovery rates of 99% and several cycles of bed regeneration were achieved, which can aggregate economic value for the process. Overall, further pilot-scale research is recommended to evaluate the feasibility of novel adsorbents for industrial purposes.
