Abstract
In this paper, zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 was modified by N-(3-aminopropyl)-imidazole to obtain a novel MOF called AMOF. Subsequently, AMOF served as a carrier for the delivery of 2-mercapto-1-methyl imidazole (MMI) to inhibit the corrosion of Cu. Scanning electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction were applied to characterize the morphologies and structures of AMOF and AMOF@MMI. Ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis were adopted to value the capacity of the load and release of the AMOF, respectively. The mass ratio of loaded MMI molecules was 18.15%. In addition, the inhibition behavior of AMOF@MMI for Cu was evaluated by polarization curves and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The results indicated that the AMOF loaded MMI successfully, and the released MMI could adsorb on the Cu surface and inhibit the Cu corrosion. The inhibition efficiency could reach 88.2%. The binding and interaction energies between the AMOF surface and the MMI were -16.41 kJ/mol and -20.27 kJ/mol.

Abstract
There is growing interest in using corrosion inhibitors and protective treatments to limit the degradation of mild steel, leading to the development of numerous Schiff bases as cutting-edge inhibitors. In this study, the effectiveness of a Schiff base, 3-((5-mercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-yl)imino)indolin-2-one (MTIO), to prevent mild steel corrosion in HCl was investigated using weight loss measurements, potentiodynamic polarization measurements, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy techniques, and surface characterization. The experimental results showed that 0.5 mM MTIO exhibited a satisfactory inhibitor efficiency of 96.9% at 303 K. The MTIO molecules physically and chemically adsorbed onto the mild steel surface following the Langmuir model, forming a compact protective film attributed to the presence of a thiazole ring in the MTIO structure. Theoretical calculations were combined with experimental techniques to investigate the anticorrosion performance and mechanism of inhibition.

Abstract
In the present work, synthesis and characterization of 15 ionic liquids (ILs) derived from quaternary ammonium and carboxylates were carried out in order to proceed to their evaluation as corrosion inhibitors (CIs) of API X52 steel in 0.5 M HCl. Potentiodynamic tests confirmed the inhibition efficiency (IE) as a function of the chemical configuration of the anion and cation. It was observed that the presence of two carboxylic groups in long linear aliphatic chains reduced the IE, whereas in shorter chains it was increased. Tafel-polarization results revealed the ILs as mixed-type CIs and that the IE was directly proportional to the CI concentration. The compounds with the best IE were 2-amine-benzoate of N,N,N-trimethyl-hexadecan-1-ammonium ([THDA+][-AA]), 3-carboxybut-3-enoate of N,N,N-trimethyl-hexadecan-1-ammonium ([THDA+][-AI]), and dodecanoate of N,N,N-trimethyl-hexadecan-1-ammonium ([THDA+][-AD]) within the 56-84% interval. Furthermore, it was found that the ILs obeyed the Langmuir adsorption isotherm model and inhibited the corrosion of steel through a physicochemical process. Finally, the surface analysis by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) confirmed less steel damage in the presence of CI due to the inhibitor-metal interaction.

Abstract
The Fructus cannabis protein extract powder (FP), was firstly used as a green and high effective corrosion inhibitor through a simple water-extraction method. The composition and surface property of FP were characterized by FTIR, LC/MS, UV, XPS, water contact angle and AFM force-curve measurements. Results indicate that FP contains multiply functional groups, such as NH, CO, CN, CO, etc. The adsorption of FP on the carbon steel surface makes it higher hydrophobicity and adhesion force. The corrosion inhibition performance of FP was researched by electrochemical impedance, polarization curve and differential capacitance curve. Moreover, the inhibitive stability of FP, and the effects of temperature and chloride ion on its inhibition property were also investigated. The above results indicate that the FP exhibits excellent corrosion inhibition efficiency (~98 %), and possesses certain long-term inhibitive stability with inhibition efficiency higher than 90 % after 240 h immersion in 1 M HCl solution. The high temperature brings about the FP desorption on the carbon steel surface, while high concentration of chloride ion facilitates the FP adsorption. The adsorption mechanism of FP follows the Langmuir isotherm adsorption. This work will provide an insight for protein as a green corrosion inhibitor.

Abstract
Aizoon extract is used as an eco-friendly anti-corrosive material for stainless steel 430 (SS430) in a 2 M hydrochloric acid solution. Many strategies were utilized to estimate the mitigation efficacy such as mass reduction (MR), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and potentiodynamic polarization (PDP). The inhibition percentage (%I) increases by increasing the concentration of Aizoon and reaches 95.8% at 300 ppm and 298 K, while it lowers by raising the temperature, reaching 85.6% at 318 K. Tafel curves demonstrated that Aizoon extract is a mixed type inhibitor with an excellent ability to inhibit the cathodic reaction. Adsorption of the Aizoon extract on an SS430 surface is regulated by the Langmuir adsorption model. The value is is -20.9 kJ mol-1 at 298 K indicating that the adsorption is of mixed type affecting both cathodic and anodic reactions. Thermodynamic factors for adsorption and activation processes were estimated and discussed. The adsorption of Aizoon extract on the SS430 surface was tested utilizing Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) techniques. The Nyquist curves confirmed that Aizoon extract prohibits the disintegration of SS430 in an acid medium without changing the dissolution reaction mechanism. The theoretical calculations showed that Aizoon extract is considered as an excellent corrosion inhibitor. The experimental data were supported by theoretical evaluations.

Abstract
The effectiveness of phenyl phthalimide and its derivatives at preventing corrosion of carbon steel has been tested experimentally using gravimetric and electrochemical measurements. However, experimental studies have not thoroughly explained the structural patterns and coating mechanisms of phenyl phthalimide and its derivatives during corrosion inhibition. In this study, the density functional theory (DFT), ab initio MP2, and Monte Carlo simulation are applied to study phenyl phthalimide (PP) and its derivatives as corrosion inhibitors of carbon steel. The geometry, quantum parameters, and reactive site of the inhibitors were determined by DFT and ab initio MP2 methods. The real environment conditions of corrosion inhibition in the solution phase can be replicated by the Monte Carlo simulation. The corrosion inhibition efficiency of phthalimide derivatives is PP-OCH3 > PP-CH3 > PP-H > PP-Cl > PP-NO2. The theoretical study is consistent with previously reported experimental results.

Abstract
β-Cyclodextrin-based compounds are used to develop and innovate materials that protect against corrosion due to their sustainability, low cost, environmental friendliness, excellent water solubility and high inhibition efficiency. However, corrosion potentials of β-CD-based compounds were not reviewed with the modern trends. The essence of the problem is that a deep understanding of the development and innovation of β-CD-based compounds as corrosion inhibitors is very important in creating next-generation materials for corrosion protection. In this review, the fundamental behaviour, importance, developments and innovations of β-CD modified with natural and synthetic polymers, β-CD grafted with the organic compounds, β-CD-based supramolecular (host-guest) systems with organic molecules, polymer β-CD-based supramolecular (host-guest) systems, β-CD-based graphene oxide materials, β-CD-based nanoparticle materials and β-CD-based nanocarriers as corrosion inhibitors for various metals were reviewed and discussed with recent research works as examples. In addition, the corrosion inhibition of β-CD-based compounds for biocorrosion, microbial corrosion and biofouling was reviewed. It was found that (i) these compounds are sustainable, inexpensive, environmentally friendly, and highly water-soluble and have high inhibition efficiency; (ii) the molecular structure of β-CD makes it an excellent molecular container for corrosion inhibitors compounds; (iii) the β-CD is excellent core to develop the next generation of corrosion inhibitors. It is recommended that (i) β-CD compounds would be synthesized by green methods, such as using biological sustainable catalysts and green solvents, green methods include irradiation or heating, energy-efficient microwave irradiation, mechanochemical mixing, solid-state reactions, hydrothermal reactions and multicomponent reactions; (ii) this review will be helpful in creating, enhancing and innovating the next green and efficient materials for future corrosion protection in high-impact industries.

Abstract
In this study, the anionic state of Ceftriaxone sodium (Cefx) and Ceftazidime (Cefz) medication corrosion inhibition capabilities for Al in 0.1 M NaOH solution are explored using various electrochemical analyses. Furthermore, the morphological structure and surface chemical composition of the impact of these drugs on the Al substrate in NaOH are investigated. For the prediction and analysis of interactions between molecule structure and inhibition efficiency, quantum chemical calculations (QC), Monte Carlo simulations (MC), and molecular dynamics (MD) simulations (MD) are performed. The electrochemical findings reveal that the inhibitory effectiveness increases with increasing drug concentrations and declines with rising temperature, reaching a maximum value of 78.4% for 300 ppm Cefx while 59.5% for 300 ppm Cefz at 293 K, implying that Cefx outperforms for Cefz. In addition, the studied drugs act as cathodic inhibitors, and their adsorption is spontaneous and mixed type adsorption in its nature that obeys Freundlich isotherm for Cefz while Temkin isotherm is the best-fitted one for Cefx. Surface analysis and wettability measurements imply that Cefx and Cefz shield the Al against corrosion by surface adsorption and generating a protective hydrophobic film. Thermodynamic activation parameters in the absence and presence of 300 ppm of the studied drugs are calculated and discussed. The energies of the border molecular orbitals and computed molecular parameters for the investigated drugs revealed that anionic Cefx is more readily adsorbed on the Al surface than Cefz. This finding is validated further using MC and MD simulations. Overall, the proposed cephalosporin drugs delivered a cost-effective and facile approach for boosting the efficiency of corrosion inhibitors for Al under aggressive conditions.

Abstract
Matrix acidizing in carbonate reservoirs is a process that has been long used to increase productivity in oil and gas producing formations. The main goal is to create wormholes that bypass the damage in the formation. Hydrochloric acid (HCl) is the main acid used for this; however, it has several disadvantages that affect the success of these treatments. Its high reaction rate, inability to divert, and corrosive nature are a few of the reasons why research in this area has focused on finding alternative fluids. This paper discusses studies on successful alternatives to HCl. It has been observed that emulsified acids, which work with the addition of a surfactant to HCl, have shown positive results as their high viscosity allows them to retard the reaction rate between the acid and the rock and form effective and dominant wormholes. This is needed, especially in high-temperature environments. As HCl also lacks the ability to divert to low-permeability zones in highly heterogeneous formations, emulsified acids are also helpful for this task. While viscoelastic surfactants have been found to be less susceptible to form damage since they do not have any polymer content, their diversion performance has not been as effective as emulsified acids. Corrosion is one of the greatest and most expensive issues faced in matrix acidizing treatments. The use of corrosion inhibitors has been proposed as the best way to deal with this problem. Inorganic corrosion inhibitors are no longer an option as they are extremely toxic and pose a great danger to the environment. Organic corrosion inhibitors have been proposed as an alternative since the 1970s. However, organic compounds still pose a hazard in their use. Natural extracts as alternatives have been proposed for their inhibition ability. The use of henna extract and aqueous garlic peel extract as corrosion inhibitors has shown positive results with lower corrosion rates compared to some conventional inhibitors.

Abstract
The adsorption of azelaic acid dihydrazide as an environmentally friendly mild steel corrosion inhibitor on the iron surface was modeled in this study. We used density functional theory (DFT) calculations and Monte Carlo (MC) and molecular dynamics (MD) simulations to illustrate the interactions engaged. The interaction of the azelaic acid derivatives with iron metal (Fe) was examined by DFT as a typical example of a corrosion prevention mechanism after the optimized molecular structures of these molecules were investigated. Structures, binding energies, Fikui's charge indicator, electron transfer, and chemical potential are all discussed. The presence of significant binding between the inhibitor and Fe metal is supported by analysis of the resultant complex. Then, in an acidic solution comprising 491 H2O, nine chlorine ion Cl-, and nine hydronium ion H3O+, molecular dynamics and Monte Carlo (MC) simulation were used to model the adsorption of azelaic acid dihydrazide on the iron Fe (110) surface. In addition, radial distribution function (RDF) and interaction energy (Ei) were evaluated in this work to further our understanding of interactions between azelaic acid dihydrazide and iron surfaces. Furthermore, we discovered that our inhibitors have an excellent ability to slow down the movement of corrosive particles in law temperature and thus to inhibit the metallic substrate against corrosive electrolyte, based on the temperature impact investigation. The result of density functional theory and Monte Carlo and molecular dynamics descriptors obtained were in good agreement with the experimental result.
