FT-IR and computational study of (E)-N-carbamimidoyl-4-((2-formylbenzylidene)amino)benzene sulfonamide

A Novel Ibuprofen Derivative and Its Complexes: Physicochemical Characterization, DFT Modeling, Docking, In Vitro Anti-Inflammatory Studies, and DNA Interaction

A novel derivative of ibuprofen and salicylaldehyde N′-(4-hydroxybenzylidene)-2-(4-isobutylphenyl) propane hydrazide (HL) was synthesized, followed by its complexation with Cu, Ni, Co, Gd, and Sm. The compounds obtained were characterized by ¹HNMR, mass spectrometry, UV-Vis spectroscopy, FT-IR spectroscopy, thermal analysis (DTA and TGA), conductivity measurements, and magnetic susceptibility measurements. The results indicate that the complexes formed were [Cu(L)(H₂O)]Cl·2H₂O, [Ni(L)₂], [Co(L)₂]·H₂O, [Gd(L)₂(H₂O)₂](NO₃)·2H₂O and [Sm(L)₂(H₂O)₂](NO₃)·2H₂O. The surface characteristics of the produced compounds were evaluated by DFT calculations using the MOE environment. The docking was performed against the COX2 targeting protein (PDB code: 5IKT Homo sapiens). The binding energies were −7.52, −9.41, −9.51, −8.09, −10.04, and −8.05 kcal/mol for HL and the Co, Ni, Cu, Sm, and Gd complexes, respectively, which suggests the enhancement of anti-inflammatory behaviors compared with the binding energy of ibuprofen (−5.38 kcal/mol). The anti-inflammatory properties of the new compounds were assessed in vitro using the western blot analysis method and the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), consistent with the outcomes obtained from docking. The half-maximal inhibitory concentration (IC₅₀) values are 4.9, 1.7, 3.7, 5.6, 2.9, and 2.3 µM for HL and the Co, Ni, Cu, Sm, and Gd complexes, respectively, showing that they are more effective inhibitors of COX2 than ibuprofen (IC₅₀ = 31.4 µM). The brain or intestinal estimated permeation method (BOILED-Egg) showed that HL and its Co complex have high gastrointestinal absorption, while only the free ligand has high brain penetration. The binding constants of Co, Cu, and Gd complexes with DNA were recorded as 2.20 × 10⁴, 2.27 × 10^6, and 4.46 × 10³ M⁻¹, respectively, indicating the intercalator behavior of interaction. The newly synthesized ibuprofen derivative and its metal complexes showed greater anti-inflammatory activity than ibuprofen.

Spectroscopic investigation (FT-IR, FT-Raman), HOMO-LUMO, NBO analysis and molecular docking study of 4-chlorophenyl quinoline-2-carboxylate

FT-IR and FT-Raman spectra of 4-chlorophenyl quinoline-2-carboxylate were recorded and analyzed. The vibrational wavenumbers were computed using DFT quantum chemical calculations. The data obtained from wavenumber calculations are used to assign vibrational bands obtained experimentally. Potential energy distribution was done using GAR2PED program. The geometrical parameters obtained theoretically are in agreement with the XRD data. NBO analysis, HOMO-LUMO, first hyperpolarizability and molecular electrostatic potential results are also reported. The calculated hyperpolarizability of the title compound is 77.53 times that of the standard NLO material urea and the title compound and its derivatives are attractive object for future studies of nonlinear optical properties. Molecular docking results suggest that the compound might exhibit inhibitory activity against GPb.

Vibrational spectroscopic and molecular docking study of 4-Methylphenylquinoline-2-carboxylate

FT-IR and FT-Raman spectra of 4-Methylphenylquinoline-2-carboxylate were recorded and analyzed. The structure of the molecule has been optimized and structural characteristics have been determined by density functional theory. The geometrical parameters (DFT) are in agreement with the XRD results. HOMO and LUMO and other chemical properties are reported. Nonlinear optical properties are also reported. A detailed molecular picture of the title compound and its interactions were obtained from NBO analysis. The negative (red and yellow) regions of the MEP are related to electrophilic reactivity and the positive (blue) regions to nucleophilic reactivity, as shown in the MEP plot and the carbonyl group and the phenyl rings are observed as electrophilic. PASS analysis predicts that the 4-Methylphenylquinoline-2-carboxylate might exhibit anti-diabetic activity. Molecular docking results suggest that the compound might exhibit inhibitory activity against GPb.

Preparation, characterization and ion adsorption properties of functionalized polystyrene modified with 1,4-phenylene diisocyanate and diethylenetriamine

In the present work, linear polystyrene (PS) was functionalized by a sulfonation reaction providing sulfonated polystyrene (PSS). Then, the PSS polymer chains were cross-linked with the 1,4- phenylene diisocyanate (PPDI) group in tetrahydrofuran (THF), which led to a PSS-PPDI polymer. The PSS-PPDI was grafted by diethylenetriamine (DETA) in a solution of THF to obtain polymer PSS-PPDI-DETA. Their structures were characterized by infrared spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR), elemental analysis (EA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravemetric (TGA), thermodynamic (DTA) and differential thermogravimetric (DTG) analysis. Synthesis, structural, spectral (FTIR, FT-Raman, UV, NMR), NBO and first order hyperpolarizability analysis of N-phenylbenzenesulfonamide by density functional theory

In this study sulfonamide compound, N-phenylbenzenesulfonamide (NPBS) has been synthesized and grown as a high quality single crystal by the slow evaporation solution growth technique. The grown crystals were characterized by the Fourier transform infrared (4000-400cm(-1)), Fourier transform Raman (3500-500cm(-1)), UV-Vis (200-800nm) and NMR spectroscopy. Density functional (DFT) calculations have been carried out for the compound NPBS by utilizing DFT level of theory using B3LYP/6-31G(d,p) as basis set. The theoretical vibrational frequencies and optimized geometric parameters such as bond lengths and bond angles have been calculated by using quantum chemical methods. The stability of the molecule arising from hyper conjugative interaction and charge delocalization has been analyzed using NBO analysis. The dipole moment, linear polarizability and first order hyperpolarizability values were also computed. The chemical reactivity and ionization potential of NPBS were also calculated. In addition, Molecular Electrostatic Potential (MEP), Frontier Molecular Orbital (FMO) analysis was investigated using theoretical calculations. The thermodynamic properties of the compound were calculated at different temperatures and corresponding relations between the properties and temperature were also studied. Finally, geometric parameters, vibrational bands were compared with available experimental data of the molecules.

Vibrational spectroscopic studies (FT-IR, FT-Raman, SERS) and quantum chemical calculations on cyclobenzaprinium salicylate

FT-IR, FT-Raman and surface enhanced Raman scattering spectra of cyclobenzaprinium salicylate were recorded and analyzed. The vibrational wavenumbers were examined theoretically using the Gaussian09 set of quantum chemistry codes, and the normal modes were assigned by potential energy distribution calculations. The downshift of the OH stretching frequency is due to strong hydrogen bonded system present in the title compound as given by XRD results. The presence of CH3, CH2 and CO2 modes in the SERS spectrum indicates the nearness of the methyl group to the metal surface which affects the orientation and metal molecule interaction. The presence of phenyl ring modes in the SERS spectrum indicates a tilted orientation with respect to the metal surface. The geometrical parameters of the title compound are in agreement with XRD results. A computation of the first hyperpolarizability indicates that the compound may be a good candidate as a NLO material.
