Abstract
A series of zinc(II) ([Zn(H2O)(L)Cl] (1)), copper (II) ([Cu(L)Cl] (2), [Cu(L)Br] (3), [Cu2(L)2(CH3COO)2]·4H2O (4)), nickel(II) ([Ni(HL)2]Cl2·H2O (5)), and cobalt(III) ([Co(L)2]Cl (6)) complexes were obtained with 2-formylpyridine N4-allylthiosemicarbazone (HL). In addition another two thiosemicarbazones (3-formylpyridine N4-allylthiosemicarbazone (HLa) and 4-formylpyridine N4-allylthiosemicarbazone (HLb)) have been obtained. The synthesized thiosemicarbazones have been studied using 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy, IR spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction analysis. The composition and structure of complexes were studied using elemental analysis, IR and UV-Vis spectroscopies, molar conductivity, and magnetic susceptibility measurements. Single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis elucidated the structure of thiosemicarbazones HL, HLa, and HLb, as well as complexes 4 and 5. The antiproliferative properties of these compounds toward a series of cancer cell lines (HL-60, HeLa, BxPC-3, RD) and a normal cell line (MDCK) have been investigated. The nickel complex shows high selectivity (SI > 1000) toward HL-60 cell line and is the least toxic. The zinc complex shows the highest selectivity toward RD cell line (SI = 640). The copper complexes (2–4) are the most active molecular inhibitors of proliferation of cancer cells, but exhibit not such a high selectivity and are significantly more toxic. Zinc and copper complexes manifest high antibacterial activity. It was found that calculated at B3LYP level of theory different reactivity descriptors of studied compounds strongly correlate with their biological activity.

Abstract
Classic Cu–O coordination bonds in 1 or elongated semi-coordination ones in 2 and 3 were applied to construct CuII–4f complexes composed of trinuclear subunits linked through μ-NO3− ions with formulae given as [Cu2Tm(H2tehy)2]2(NO3)6·H2O, (1), {[Cu2Ho(H2tehy)2(NO3)2][Cu2Ho(H2tehy)2(H2O)2]}(NO3)4·2H2O, (2), and {[Cu2Er(H2tehy)2(H2O)]2([Cu2Er(H2tehy)2(NO3)]2}(NO3)10·2H2O·4CH3OH, (3), where H2tehy = C19H20N2O4 is a tetrahydroxy Schiff base ligand. Topological analysis showed that the same characteristic motif of coordination accompanied by hydrogen bonds involving the uncoordinated nitrate oxygen atom and ligand’s phenoxy O atoms is responsible for linking trinuclear subunits into a hexanuclear one as well as for bridging the hexanuclear coordination units in 3 into a 1D supramolecular polymer, with the Cu–O distance being 3.19(1) Å, much longer than the limit of a semi-coordination bond (3.07 Å). The Cambridge Structural Database was used to discuss issues of crystallographic criteria (distance and angular preferences) for the assessment of the stabilizing or destabilizing effect of hydrogen bonding on coordination. The presented results show that the symmetrically repeated arrangement of molecules may provide a useful tool for identifying higher order non-covalently bonded supramolecular aggregates. The complexes 1–3 have been characterized by X-ray diffraction, FTIR, and thermal analysis. The magnetic studies indicated the ferromagnetic interaction between CuII and HoIII ions.

Abstract
Ni(II), Pd(II) and Pt(II) complexes of 5-mercapto-1,2,4-triazole-3-imine-2'-hydroxynaphthaline have been isolated and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, (1)H NMR, EI-mass, UV-vis, molar conductance, magnetic moment measurements and thermogravimetric analysis. The molar conductance values indicated that the complexes are non-electrolytes. The magnetic moment values of the complexes displayed diamagnetic behavior for Pd(II) and Pt(II) complexes and tetrahedral geometrical structure for Ni(II) complex. From the bioinorganic applications point of view, the interaction of the ligand and its metal complexes with CT-DNA was investigated using absorption and viscosity titration techniques. The Schiff-base ligand and its metal complexes have also been screened for their antimicrobial and antitumor activities. Also, theoretical investigation of molecular and electronic structures of the studied ligand and its metal complexes has been carried out. Molecular orbital calculations were performed using DFT (density functional theory) at B3LYP level with standard 6-31G(d,p) and LANL2DZ basis sets to access reliable results to the experimental values. The calculations were performed to obtain the optimized molecular geometry, charge density distribution, extent of distortion from regular geometry, the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO), the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO), Mulliken atomic charges, reactivity index (ΔE), dipole moment (D), global hardness (η), softness (σ), electrophilicity index (ω), chemical potential and Mulliken electronegativity (χ).

Abstract
Polynuclear Pt(II) complexes are a novel class of promising anticancer agents with potential clinical significance. A series of pyrazine (pz) bridged dinuclear Pt(II) complexes with general formulas {[Pt(L)Cl]2(μ-pz)}(2+) (L, ethylenediamine, en; (±)-1,2-propylenediamine, 1,2-pn; isobutylenediamine, ibn; trans-(±)-1,2-diaminocyclohexane, dach; 1,3-propylenediamine, 1,3-pd; 2,2-dimethyl-1,3-propylenediamine, 2,2-diMe-1,3-pd) and one pyridazine (pydz) bridged {[Pt(en)Cl]2(μ-pydz)}(2+) complex were prepared. The anticancer potential of these complexes were determined through in vitro cytotoxicity assay in human fibroblasts (MRC5) and two carcinoma cell lines (A375 and HCT116), interaction with double stranded DNA through in vitro assay, and molecular docking study. All complexes inhibited cell proliferation with inhibitory concentrations in the 0.5-120 μM range. While {[Pt(1,3-pd)Cl]2(μ-pz)}(2+) showed improved activity and {[Pt(en)Cl]2(μ-pydz)}(2+) showed comparable activity to that of clinically relevant cisplatin, {[Pt(en)Cl]2(μ-pydz)}(2+) was less toxic in an assay with zebrafish (Danio rerio) embryos, causing no adverse developmental effects. The in vitro cytotoxicity of all diazine-bridged dinuclear Pt(II) complexes is discussed in correlation to their structural characteristics.
