Abstract
A novel hydrogen-bonded supramolecular crown-ether-based inclusion compound, [(DL-α-Phenylglycine)(18-crown-6)]+[(CoCl4)0.5]-(1), was obtained via evaporation in a methanolic solution at room temperature using DL-α-phenylglycine, 18-crown-6, cobalt chloride (CoCl2), and hydrochloric acid. Its structure, thermal properties, and electrical properties were characterized via elemental analysis, single-crystal X-ray diffraction, variable-temperature infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, differential scanning calorimetry, and variable temperature-variable frequency dielectric constant testing. The compound was a monoclinic crystal system in the C2 space group at low temperature (100 K) and room temperature (293 K). Analysis of the single crystal structure showed that [(CoCl4)0.5]- presented an edge-sharing ditetrahedral structure in the disordered state, while the protonated DL-α-phenylglycine molecule in the disordered state and intramolecular hydroxyl group (-OH) underwent dynamic rocking, causing a significant stretching motion of the O-H···Cl-type one-dimensional hydrogen bond chain. This resulted in dielectric anomalies in the three axes of the crystal, thus showing significant dielectric anisotropy.

Abstract
Supramolecular synthon is identified as a unit and provides important structural and energetic information in the study of organic crystals. However, the direct estimation of the supramolecular interaction remains challenging. In the present work six polyhalogenated di- or triamino pyridines were synthesised, their crystalline structure was characterised, and corresponding supramolecular synthons were studied using a combination of quantum mechanical calculations and FT-IR and Raman spectroscopy. Some distinctive features were identified especially for three vibrational normal modes (RNMs) related to the pyridine ring (viz. RNM1, RNM3 and RNM7) in the vibrational spectra (FT-IR and Raman) of the solid samples, which are due to the supramolecular interactions, hydrogen bond (hb) in particular, according to the quantum mechanical calculations. The comparison between the IR and Raman spectra of experimental and simulated results indicates that the adjacent intermolecular hydrogen bonds between two same molecules extensively exist in the solid samples. Moreover, some quantitative correlation was established among the dimerisation energies for hb dimers (hb1 dimers for compounds 1 and 2), the ring structure defined by the distribution of the substituents and quantitative characteristics of the vibrational spectra, for instance, the splitting magnitudes for RNM3(2) in IR spectra and the peak gap between RNM1 and RNM2 in Raman spectra.

Abstract
Strengthening (para-isomers) or weakening (ortho-isomers) of π-electron aggregation due to the crystal structure rearrangement results in the bathochromic or hypsochromic shift of the fluorescence maximum.

Abstract
Two cocrystals of 18-crown-6 with isophthalic acid derivatives, 5-hydroxyisophthalic acid and trimesic acid, have been successfully grown by the slow evaporation solution growth technique. Crystal structures of (18-crown-6)·6(5-hydroxyisophthalic acid)·10(H2O) (I) and (18-crown-6)·2(trimesic acid)·2(H2O) (II) elucidated by single crystal X-ray diffraction reveal that both cocrystals pack the centrosymmetric triclinic space group P{\overline 1}. The molecules are associated by strong/weak hydrogen bonds, π...π and H...H stacking interactions. Powder X-ray diffraction analyses, experimental and simulated from single-crystal diffractogram data have been matched. The vibrational patterns in FT-IR spectra are used to identify the functional groups. The band gap energy is estimated by the application of the Kubelka-Munk algorithm. Hirshfeld surfaces derived from X-ray diffraction analysis reveal the type of molecular interactions and their relative contributions. The constructed supramolecular assembly of crown ether cocrystal is thoroughly described. Both cocrystals exhibit a significant third-order nonlinear optical response and it is observed that (I) possesses a significant first-order molecular hyperpolarizability whereas it is negligible for (II).
