Abstract
In this study, novel Cu-complexes of heterocyclic cellulose which were synthesized via the reaction of carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) from bagasse pulp with NH2NH2 to give hydrazide cellulose which easily reacted with CS2 to form salt and then cyclized in the presence of HCl to afford cellulose oxadiazole, or with hydrazine hydrate to give cellulose triazole. Furthermore, the cellulose oxadiazole and triazole moieties acting as chelating agents with metal ion Cu (II), and all synthesized compounds were examined for their spectral analysis to show the adsorption of Cu (II) on the surface of cellulose through intramolecular hydrogen bonding. Results illustrated that cellulose oxadiazole and Cu- cellulose oxadiazole exhibited antimicrobial activities more than triazole and Cu- cellulose triazole. Furthermore, anticancer results showed that both cellulose oxadiazole and triazole exhibited activity higher than Cu-cellulose oxadiazole and Cu-cellulose triazole, where the cellulose triazole showed the highest activity (IC50 = 58.7 μg/μL). Additionally, the docking simulation of the synthesized cellulose complexes with different proteins such as PDBID:3t88, PDBID:4ynt, PDBID:1tgh, PDBID:2wje, and PDBID:4hdq and shortage bond length to confirm the experimental results. Optimization of metal complexes utilized the DFT/B3LYP/LANL2DZ basis set to confirm the stability of these metals theoretically and their physical descriptors and FMO analysis.

Abstract
Heterocyclic derivatives serve as the fundamental components of both natural and synthetic drugs. Enaminones play a crucial role as foundational units in the synthesis of numerous bioactive heterocyclic compounds, including pyrazoles, pyridines, oxazoles, isoxazoles, as well as fused heterocyclic structures like indoles, carbazoles, quinolines, acridines, and phenanthridines. These diverse heterocyclic rings are well-known for their various therapeutic activities, encompassing anticancer, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antidepressant, and antiviral properties. By reacting with nitrogenbased nucleophiles, enaminones can generate bioactive azoles, azines, and their fused systems. This study focuses on the recent advancements in enaminone reactions with (a) nitrogen-based nucleophiles, such as aliphatic amines, derivatives of aniline, heterocyclic amines, hydroxylamine, hydrazine derivatives, guanidine derivatives, urea, and thiourea derivatives, and (b) nitrogen-based electrophiles, such as diazonium salts. These reactions have led to the synthesis of a wide range of bioactive fused heterocyclic compounds from 2010 to the end of 2022.

Abstract
In this study, the oxidation of microcrystalline cellulose using NaIO4 to yield the corresponding cellulose aldehyde utilized microwave irradiation as a green tool, the obtained cellulosic aldehyde was confirmed through spectral analysis and it has an active site to react with the synthesized uracil acetamide to afford the corresponding arylidene cellulosic MDAU(4), the latter compound which can easily due to presence of active CH=group behind a cyano group react with nitrogen nucleophile's and cyclized with hydrazine hydrate to give pyrazole cellulosic MDPA(5). The spectral analysis of the obtained cellulosic derivatives was confirmed with FT-IR, NMR, and SEM. Additionally, a neutral red uptake analysis has been used to investigate the cytotoxic activity of the cellulosic compounds MDAC(2), MDAU(4), and MDAP(5) against the cancer cells A549 and Caco2. After 48 h, Compound MDAU(4) had a stronger inhibitory effect on the growth of A549 and Caco2, compared to standard values. Then, using QRT-PCR, the appearance sites of the genes -Catenin, c-Myc, Cyclin D1, and MMP7 in A549 cells were examined. By reducing the expression levels of the Wnt signaling cascade genes -Catenin, c-Myc, Cyclin D1, and MMP7 when administered to A549 cells, compound MDAU(4) was shown in this investigation to be a viable candidate compared to lung cancer. Additionally, docking simulation was used to explore the uracil cellulosic heterocycles attached to different proteins, and computational investigations of these compounds looked at how well their physical characteristics matched the outcomes of their experiments.

Abstract
Heterocyclic scaffolds are frequently employed in drug development to treat a variety of conditions, including cancers. These substances have the ability to engage covalently or non-covalently with particular residues in the target proteins, inhibiting them. In this study, the formation of N-, S-, and O-containing heterocycles by the interaction of chalcone with nitrogen-containing nucleophiles such as hydrazine, hydroxyl amine, guanidine, urea, and aminothiourea was explored. FT-IR, UV-visible, NMR, and mass spectrometric studies were used to confirm the heterocyclic compounds that were produced. These substances were tested for their antioxidant activity by their capacity to scavenge the artificial radicals 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH). The strongest antioxidant activity was demonstrated by compound 3 (IC50 = 93.4 μM), whereas compound 8 (IC50 = 448.70 μM) had the lowest activity when compared to vitamin C (IC50 141.9 μM). Also, the experimental findings and the docking estimation of these heterocyclic compounds with PDBID:3RP8 were in agreement. Additionally, the compounds' global reactivity characteristics, such as HOMO-LUMO gaps, electronic hardness, chemical potential, electrophilicity index, and Mulliken charges, were identified using DFT/B3LYP/6-31G(d,p) basis sets. The two chemicals that displayed the best antioxidant activity also had their molecular electrostatic potential (MEP) ascertained using DFT simulations.

Abstract
In this investigation, pressure microwave irradiation was used to clarify the activity of 1-(2-hydroxyphenyl)-3-(4-methylphenyl)prop-2-en-1-one (3) towards several active methylene derivatives utilized the pressurized microwave irradiation as green energy resource . Chalcone 3 was allowed to react with ethyl cyanoacetate, acetylacetone, and thioglycolic acid; respectively, at 70 °C with pressure under microwave reaction condition to afford the corresponding 2-hydroxyphenylcyanopyridone, 2-hydroxyphenyl acetylcyclohexanone, and thieno[2,3-c]chromen-4-one derivatives respectively. Moreover, the reaction of chalcone 3 with hydrogen peroxide with stirring affords the corresponding chromen-4-one derivative. All the synthesized compounds were confirmed through spectral tools such as FT-IR, 1HNMR, 13CNMR, and mass spectrum. Furthermore, the synthesized heterocycles were exhibited excellent antioxidant activity and comparable with vitamin C, where the presence of the OH group increases the scavenger radical inhibition. Furthermore, the biological activity of compound 12 was demonstrated through molecular docking stimulation using two proteins, PDBID: 1DH2 and PDBID: 3RP8, which showed that compound 12 possesses greater binding energy and a shorter bond length comparable with ascorbic acid. Also, the compounds were optimized through DFT/B3LYP/6-31G (d,p) basis set and identification of their physical descriptors, whereas the compound 12 was confirmed through X-Ray single structure with Hirsh field analysis of the compound to know the hydrogen electrostatic bond interaction, and correlated with the optimized structure by comparing their bond length, bond angle, FT-IR, and NMR, which gave excellent correlation.

Abstract
Cancer is a large group of diseases in which the rapid proliferation of abnormal cells generally leads to metastasis to surrounding tissues or more distant ones through the lymphatic and blood vessels, making it the second leading cause of death worldwide. The main challenge in designing a modern anticancer therapy is to develop selective compounds that exploit specific molecular targets. In this work, novel oxazolo[5,4-d]pyrimidine derivatives were designed, synthesized, and evaluated in vitro for their cytotoxic activity against a panel of four human cancer cell lines (lung carcinoma: A549, breast adenocarcinoma: MCF7, metastatic colon adenocarcinoma: LoVo, primary colon adenocarcinoma: HT29), along with their P-glycoprotein-inhibitory ability and pro-apoptotic activity. These oxazolo[5,4-d]pyrimidine derivatives, which are structurally similar to nucleic purine bases in general, are characterized by the presence of a pharmacologically favorable isoxazole substituent at position 2 and aliphatic amino chains at position 7 of the condensed heterocyclic system. In silico analysis of the obtained compounds identified their potent inhibitory activity towards human vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-2 (VEGFR-2). Molecular docking was performed to assess the binding mode of new derivatives to the VEGFR-2 active site. Then, their physicochemical, pharmacokinetic, and pharmacological properties (i.e., ADME-administration, distribution, metabolism, and excretion) were also predicted to assess their druglikeness. In particular, compound 3g (with a 3-(N,N-dimethylamino)propyl substituent) was found to be the most potent against the HT29 cell line, with a 50% cytotoxic concentration (CC50) of 58.4 µM, exceeding the activity of fluorouracil (CC50 = 381.2 μM) and equaling the activity of cisplatin (CC50 = 47.2 µM), while being less toxic to healthy human cells (such as normal human dermal fibroblasts (NHDFs)) than these reference drugs. The results suggest that compound 3g is a potentially promising candidate for the treatment of primary colorectal cancer.

Abstract
A brominated thiazolyl benzenesulfonamide (BTB) derivative is conjugated with the cell-penetrating peptide octaarginine (R8) in an effort to construct innovative antibacterial products. The noncovalent complex of BTB and R8 is characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, which indicates hydrogen bonding between the two constituents. Attachment of the peptide moiety renders aqueous solubility to the hydrophobic benzenesulfonamide drug and bestows bactericidal activity. Confocal imaging in conjunction with dye probes shows successful clearance of intracellular Staphylococcus aureus bacteria by the BTB-R8 complex. Scanning electron micrographs and studies with a set of fluorescent dyes suggest active disruption of the bacterial cell membrane by the BTB-R8 complex. In contrast, the complex of BTB with octalysine (K8) fails to cause membrane damage and displays a modest antibacterial effect. A complex of BTB with the water-soluble hydrophilic polymer poly(vinylpyrrolidone) (PVP) does not display any antibacterial effect, indicating the distinctive role of the cell-penetrating peptide (CPP) R8 in the cognate complex. The leakage of the encapsulated dye from giant unilamellar vesicles upon interaction with the BTB-R8 complex further highlights the membrane activity of the complex, which cannot be accomplished by bare sulfonamide alone. This work broadens the scope of use of CPPs with respect to eliciting antibacterial activity and potentially expands the limited arsenal of membrane-targeting antibiotics.

Abstract
Sulfonamide derivatives exhibit a wide biological activity and can function as potential medical molecules in the development of a drug. Studies have reported that the compounds have an effect on many enzymes. In this study, the derivatives of amine sulfonamide (1i-11i) were prepared with reduced imine compounds (1-11) with NaBH4 in methanol. The synthesized compounds were fully characterized by spectral data and analytical. The effect of the synthesized derivatives on acetylcholinesterase (AChE), glutathione S-transferase (GST) and α-glycosidase (α-GLY) enzymes were determined. For the AChE and α-GLY, the most powerful inhibition was observed on 10 and 10i series with KI value in the range 2.26 ± 0.45-3.57 ± 0.97 and 95.73 ± 13.67-102.45 ± 11.72 µM, respectively. KI values of the series for GST were found in the range of 22.76 ± 1.23-49.29 ± 4.49. Finally, the compounds have a stronger inhibitor in lower concentrations by the attachment of functional electronegative groups such as two halogens (-Br and -CI), -OH to the benzene ring and -SO2NH2. The crystal structures of AChE, α-GLY, and GST in complex with selected derivatives 4 and 10 show the importance of the functional moieties in the binding modes within the receptors.Communicated by Ramaswamy H. Abstract
Chalcones (E)-1,3-diphenyl-2-propene-1-ones, a class of biosynthetic precursor molecules of flavonoids, have a wide variety of biological applications. Besides the natural products, many synthetic derivatives and analogs became an object of continued interest in academia and industry. In this work, a synthesis and an extensive structural study were performed on a sulfonamide chalcone 1-Benzenesulfonyl-3-(4-bromobenzylidene)-2-(2-chlorophenyl)-2,3-dihydro-1H-quinolin-4-one with potential antineoplastic application. In addition, in silico experiments have shown that the sulfonamide chalcone fits well in the ligand-binding site of EGFR with seven μ-alkyl binding energy interactions on the ligand-binding site. Finally, the kinetic stability and the pharmacophoric analysis for EGFR indicated the necessary spatial characteristics for potential activity of sulfonamide chalcone as an antagonist.

Abstract
In this investigation, we studied the reactivity of 5-aminouracil (1) with ethyl cyanoacetate (2) utilizing microwave irradiation to afford the corresponding 2-cyano-N-(2,4-dioxo-1,2,3,4-tetrahydropyrimidin-5-yl)acetamide (3) in excellent yield. The electrophilic azo-coupling reaction of acetamide 3 with aromatic diazonium salts afforded the corresponding hydrazone derivatives 4a-d. The Michael addition cyclization of hydrazone in pyridine to give pyrazolo[5,1-c][1, 2, 4]triazine-3-carboxamide 5a-d derivatives. The obtained compounds were elucidated against antimicrobial activity and antitumor activity breast cancer cells (MCF-7) and liver cancer cells (HepG2) utilized MTT assay. Compounds 5b, 5c and 5d revealed more inhibitory influence on MCF7 and HepG2 growth than the reference drug doxorubicin (Dox) after 48 h incubation. Furthermore, molecular docking studies were carried out on one of the most effective compound 4-amino-N-(2,4-dioxo-1,2,3,4-tetrahydropyrimidin-5-yl)-7-(4-fluorophenyl) pyrazole [5,1-c][1, 2, 4]triazine-3-carboxamide (5c) (TFC) with (PDB: 3t88), (PDB: 2wje) , (PDB: 4ynt), (PDB: 1tgh), (PDB: 4hdq) and (PDB: 3pxe) which attached with different proteins with different energies and shortage bond distance. Also; the comprehensive theoretical and experimental mechanical studies of compound TFC and TMC were compatible with FTIR and 1H NMR spectral data. The optimized molecular structure of TFC with FTIR was examined via DFT/ B3LYP/6-31G (d) level.Communicated by Ramaswamy H. Sarma.

Abstract
Breast cancer is the second most leading cause of death among women. Multiple drugs have been approved by FDA for the treatment of BC. The major drawbacks of existing drugs are the development of resistance, toxicity, selectivity problem. The other therapies like hormonal therapy, surgery, radiotherapy, and immune therapy are in use but showed many side effects like bioavailability issues, non-selectivity, pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic problems. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop new moieties that are nonviolent and more effective in the treatment of cancer. Isoxazole derivatives have gain popularity in recent years due to anticancer potential with the least side effects. These derivatives act as an anticancer agent with different mechanisms like inducing apoptosis, aromatase inhibition, disturbing tubulin congregation, topoisomerase inhibition, HDAC inhibition, and ERα inhibition. In this article, we have explored the synthetic strategies, anticancer mechanism of action along with SAR studies of isoxazole derivatives.

Abstract
Development of the oxidation process of cellulose has occurred to decrease the reaction time. Dialdehyd cellulose (DAC) has synthesized via periodate oxidation under microwave irradiation and Graphen oxide (GO) was synthesized by modified Hummer method. A new composite of DAC/GO has prepared from GO and DAC. The structure and morphology of DAC, GO and DAC/GO composite were evaluated via Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction. Mechanical properties of DAC and DAC/GO were investigated. Additionally, the computational calculations of cellulose, DAC and GO by DFT/B3LYP/6-31G (d) basis sets were investigated. DAC/GO composite demonstrated specific antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. The molecular docking of DAC shows binding energy interaction (- 4.1, - 4.0, and - 4.0) Kcal/mol against microbial protein of Pseudomonas aeruginosa as Gram-negative bacteria PDB (2W7Q), and Staphylococcus aureus as Gram-positive bacteria PDB (1BQB) as well as Covid-19 PDB (7BZ5) respectively. DAC shows drug-like behavior when it is compared with binding energy interaction of Hydroxychloroquine against Covid-19, as a standard drug.

Abstract
A series of heterocyclic compounds with a sulfonamide moiety were synthesized from reaction of enaminone 4 with active methylene compounds, glycine derivatives, 1,4-benzoquinone, hydroxylamine hydrochloride, hydrazonyl halides and dimethylacetylenedicarboxylate. The newly synthesized sulfonamide derivatives were characterized by FT-IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, mass spectroscopy, elemental analysis and alternative synthetic routes. The reactions products were evaluated for their antiproliferative activity against a panel of three different human cancerous cell lines, MCF-7 (breast), HepG-2 (liver) and HCT-116 (colon) and the results were deployed to derive the structure-activity relationships (SAR). Various test compounds were potent antiproliferative to cancerous cells; reaching very low micromolar levels, as in case of 21 which showed IC50 value of 6.2 μM against HepG-2 cell. In addition, treatment of cancerous cells with the synthesized compounds induced cell apoptosis and G2/M phase arrest evidenced by flow cytometric analysis. Furthermore, the activity of the synthesized compounds against TOP I and II were documented by DNA relaxation assays. Data revealed that compound 24 significantly interfered with TOP I- and II-mediated DNA relaxation, nicking and decatenation, with IC50 values 27.8 and 33.6 μM, respectively. Moreover, the molecular docking studies supported the results from enzymatic assays, where compound 24 was intercalated between nucleotides flanking the DNA cleavage site via pi-pi stacking and hydrophobic interactions. In conclusion, aromatic heterocycles linked to sulfonamides are excellent molecular frameworks amenable for optimization as dual TOP I and II poisons to control various human malignancies.

Abstract
Cyanoethyl cellulose (CEC)/ magnetite (Fe3O4) flexible composite film with enhanced dielectric and magnetic properties was successfully prepared. CEC has been synthesized from micro crystalline cellulose (MCC). The effects of magnetite mass fraction on the morphology, microstructure, thermal stability, and antimicrobial activity of the as-prepared composite films were investigated. The Vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) and broadband dielectric spectrometer was also employed to study the magnetic and dielectric properties, respectively. In addition to study the computational calculation of MCC, and CEC by DFT/ B3LYP/6-31G (d) basis sets. The results showed that, the sample that is magnetite free has a diamagnetic response to the applied magnetic field, however the other samples that is loaded with magnetite show super-paramagnetic behavior indicating that the particles' sizes of the magnetite mostly below 20 nm. Also, antimicrobial activities of composite films against (G + ve), (G-ve), were investigated.
