Abstract
CONTEXT Various concentrations of (E)-4-methoxy-N'-(2-(trifluoromethyl)benzylidene) benzohydrazide (EMT) adsorbed on colloidal silver nanoparticles were studied using SERS and results were compared to the normal Raman spectrum. DFT calculations were used to validate experimental findings. Theoretically, the structures of the EMT and EMT-Ag6 systems were optimized. The UV-Vis spectral analysis's red shift and lower intensity behavior show that EMT has chemisorbed onto Ag nanoparticles. Charge transfer (CT) from Ag to EMT is highlighted by FMO analysis. The CT interaction in EMT and EMT-Ag6 was further verified by MEP and Mulliken charge analyses. The EMT was adsorbed on Ag nanoparticles with tilted orientation and orientation changes with colloidal concentration, according to SERS spectrum analysis. Docking EMT with 4PQE and 5DYW binding affinities are found to be -9.7 and -8.1 kcal/mol. MD simulations give the competence of 5DYW-EMT and 4PQE-EMT in their intended binding interactions and their ability to establish enduring associations with the protein of interest. METHODS DFT was used to optimize the molecular structures of EMT and EMT-Ag6 using B3LYP/6-311++G* (LANL2DZ basis set for Ag). A molecular dynamics simulation study was conducted on the 4PQE-EMT and 5DYW-EMT systems using the Desmond software for 100 ns.

Abstract
This work reports the convenient approach for the synthesis of thiazole based thiourea derivatives (1-21) from 2-bromo-1-(4-fluorophenyl)thiazole-1-one and phenyl isothiocyanates. The scope and diversity were achieved from readily available phenyl isothiocyanates. This protocol involves an oxidative C-S bond formation. Moreover, hybrid thiazole based thiourea scaffolds (1-21) according to literature known protocol were screened in vitro for anticancer Potential against breast cancer, antiglycation and antioxidant inhibitory profile. All newly developed scaffolds were showed moderate to good inhibitory potentials ranging from 0.10 ± 0.01 µM to 11.40 ± 0.20 µM, 64.20 ± 0.40 µM to 385.10 ± 1.70 µM and 8.90 ± 0.20 µM to 39.20 ± 0.50 µM against anticancer, antiglycation and antioxidant respectively. Among the series, compounds 12 (IC50 = 0.10 ± 0.01 µM), 10 (IC50 = 64.20 ± 0.40 µM) and 12 (IC50 = 8.90 ± 0.20 µM) with flouro substitution at phenyl ring of thiourea were identified to be the most potent among the series having excellent anticancer, antiglycation and antioxidant potential. The structure of all the newly synthetics scaffolds were confirmed by using different types of spectroscopic techniques such as HREI-MS, 1H- and 13C-NMR spectroscopy. To find structure-activity relationship, molecular docking studies were carried out to understand the binding mode of active inhibitors with active site of enzymes and results supported the experimental data.Communicated by Ramaswamy H. Abstract
Anthracenes are aromatic compounds with flexible structure and reactivity which are of great interest to theoretical and experimental chemists. Theoretical investigations of 1,4-dihydroxy-5,8-bis[2-(2-hydroxyethylamino)ethylamino]anthracene-9,10-dione (Mitoxantrone) (DDEA) based on density functional theory, molecular dynamics and adsorption on fullerene are reported in the present research. The suitable situation for adsorption with fullerene (C60) is the cyclohex-2-ene-1,4-dione ring of DDEA. Selected quantum-molecular descriptors have been calculated to predict the most reactive sites of the DDEA molecule. Interactions of DDEA with water have been studied using MD simulations. MD simulations were also used to study solubility parameter, a significant quantity for the development of pharmaceutical formulations. The affinity of DDEA on human dihydrofolate reductase and deoxyuridine triphosphatase enzymes was investigated by MD simulation of the protein-ligand complex obtained by molecular docking study.Communicated by Ramaswamy H. Abstract
Single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) are well-known for their excellent electrical conductivity. One promising application for SWCNT-based thin films is as transparent electrodes for uncooled mid-IR detectors (MIR). In this paper, a combination of computational and experimental studies were performed to understand the chemistry behind the stability of carboxylic SWCNTs (SWCNTs-COOH) dispersions in different solvents. A computational study based on the density functional tight-binding (DFTB) method was applied to understand the interactions of COOH-functionalized carbon nanotubes with selected solvents. Attention was focused on understanding how the protonation of COOH groups influences the binding energies between SWCNTs and different solvents. Thin film electrodes were prepared by alternately depositing PEI and SWCNT-COOH on soda lime glass substrates. To prepare a stable SWCNT dispersion, different solvents were tested, such as deionized (DI) water, ethanol and acetone. The SWCNT-COOH dispersion stability was tested in different solvents. Samples were prepared to study the relationship between the number of depositions, transparency in the MIR range (2.5–5 µm) and conductivity, looking for the optimal thickness that would satisfy the application. The MIR transparency of the electrode was reduced by 20% for the thickest SWCNT layers, whereas sheet resistance values were reduced to 150–200 kΩ/sq.

Abstract
Cancer of the lungs and thyroid is particularly difficult to manage and treat. Notably, selpercatinib has recently been suggested as an effective drug to combat these diseases. The entire world is currently tackling the pandemic caused by the SARS-CoV-19 virus. Numerous pharmaceuticals have been evaluated for the management of the disease caused by SARS-CoV-19 (i.e., COVID-19). In this study, selpercatinib was proposed as a potential inhibitor of different SARS-CoV-19 proteins. Several intriguing effects of the molecule were found during the conducted computational investigations. Selpercatinib could effectively act as a proton sponge and exhibited high proton affinity in solution. Moreover, it was able to form complexes with metal ions in aqueous solutions. Specifically, the compound displayed high affinity towards zinc ions, which are important for the prevention of virus multiplication inside human cells. However, due to their charge, zinc ions are not able to pass the lipid bilayer and enter the cell. Thus, it was determined that selpercatinib could act as an ionophore, effectively transporting active zinc ions into cells. Furthermore, various quantum mechanical analyses, including energy studies, evaluation of the reactivity parameters, examination of the electron localisation and delocalisation properties, as well as assessment of the nonlinear optical (NLO) properties and information entropy, were conducted herein. The performed docking studies (docking scores -9.3169, -9.1002, -8.1853 and -8.1222 kcal mol-1) demonstrated that selpercatinib strongly bound with four isolated SARS-CoV-2 proteins.
