Abstract
In this work, we report a two-step methodology for the synthesis of small silver nanoparticles embedded into hydrogels based on chitosan (CS) and hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) biopolymers. This method uses d-glucose as an external green reducing agent and purified water as a solvent, leading to an eco-friendly, cost-effective, and biocompatible process for the synthesis of silver nanocomposite hydrogels. Their characterization comprises ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy, Fourier-transform infrared spectra, differential scanning calorimetry, scanning electron microscopy with energy-dispersive spectroscopy, and transmission electron microscopy assays. Moreover, the structural stability of the hydrogels was investigated through sequential swelling-deswelling cycles. The nanomaterials showed good mechanical properties in terms of their structural stability and revealed prominent antibacterial properties due to the reduced-size particles that promote their use as new advanced antimicrobial agents, an advantage compared to conventional particles in aqueous suspension that lose stability and effectiveness. Finally, theoretical analyses provided insights into the possible interactions, charge transfer, and stabilization process of nanoclusters mediated by the high-electron-density groups belonging to CS and HPMC, revealing their unique structural properties in the preparation of nano-scaled materials.

Abstract
A solid-state Ultraviolet-photoreduction process of silver cations to produce Ag0 nanostructures on a mesoporous silica is presented as an innovative method for the preparation of efficient environmental anti-fouling agents. Mesoporous silica powder, contacted with AgNO3, is irradiated at 366 nm, where silica surface defects absorb. The detailed characterization of the materials enables us to document the silica assisted photo-reduction. The appearance of a Visible (Vis) band centered at 470 nm in the extinction spectra, due to the surface plasmon resonance of Ag0 nanostructures, and the morphology changes observed in transmission electron microscopy (TEM) images, associated with the increase of Ag/O ratio in energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) analysis, indicate the photo-induced formation of Ag0. The data demonstrate that the photo-induced reduction of silver cation occurs in the solid state and takes place through the activation of silica defects. The activation of the materials after UV-processing is then tested, evaluating their antimicrobial activity using an environmental filamentous fungus, Aspergillus niger. The treatment doubled inhibitory capacity in terms of minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) and biofilm growth. The antimicrobial properties of silver-silica nanocomposites are investigated when dispersed in a commercial sealant; the nanocomposites show excellent dispersion in the silicon and improve its anti-fouling capacity.

Abstract
Chitosan (CH) capped inorganic nanomaterials have been considered as significant antibacterial materials in the clinical field. This work shows the synthesis of two new different antibacterial composite films as a result of the incorporation of CH capped copper oxide (CHCuO) and copper (CHCu) nanoparticles (NPs). Here, CHCuO and CHCu NPs were achieved by a facile chemical reduction of Cu2+ ions using sodium hydroxide and ascorbic acid. TEM analysis revealed the morphology as rod-type nanoflakes for CHCuO and a spherical shape for CHCu NPs with ~7 ± 2 nm size. Antimicrobial activity of the developed materials was studied by the inhibition zone method, against both gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria. The antimicrobial activity revealed that the CHCuO NPs and CHCuO-CH film showed a higher inhibition zone than the other nanomaterials. The results suggested that the synthesized materials can be used in wound dressing applications.

Abstract
Recently most of the researchers have turned their interest towards plant mediated synthesis of metal nanoparticles to avoid several environmental toxicants. In this manuscript, we have discussed the ecofriendly syntheses of zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) were achieved using Glycyrrhiza glabra (G. glabra) seed aqueous extract. The green synthesized ZnO NPs were characterized using analytical techniques like XRD, TEM, particle size histogram and Zeta potential. From the results, it was found that the green synthesized ZnO NPs were around 35nm in size with irregular spherical shape. The Zeta potential study of ZnO NPs was resulted to be high stabile with electronegative charge around -56.3mV. Further the G. glabra seed aqueous extract mediated synthesis of ZnO NPs were subjected to treat human glioblastoma cells with the help of temozolomide (TMZ) a commercially available drug by the method of MTT cell viability assay. The results stated that the ZnO NPs shows IC50 value around 30μg/mL results significantly. The plausible mechanism behind the mortality rate was also discussed in this manuscript.

Abstract
Amide-functionalized materials have emerged as promising nonprecious catalysts for electrochemical sensing and catalysis. The covalent immobilization of chitosan (CS) onto graphene sheet (GS) (denoted as CS-GS) has been done via higher degree of amidation reaction to develop an electrochemical sensing matrix for simultaneous determination of dopamine (DA) and uric acid (UA). The enhanced amidation between CS and GS has not been reported previously. However, electrochemical results have revealed that the CS-GS enhances the electrocatalytic performance in terms of the oxidation potential and peak current due to the higher degree of amide functionalization compared to that of CS/GS, which has a lower amidation. Differential pulse voltammetry-based studies have indicated that the CS-GS matrix works at a lower detection limit (0.14 and 0.17 μM) (S/N = 3) and over a longer linear range (1-700 and 1-800 μM), with a comparatively higher sensitivity (2.5 and 2.0 μA μM-1 cm-2), for DA and UA, respectively. In addition, the CS-GS matrix demonstrates good selectivity toward the detection of DA and UA in the presence of a 10-fold higher concentration of AA and glucose. The as-prepared three-dimensional porous CS-GS also endows selective determination toward DA and UA in various real samples.
