Abstract
Aim: In the 21st century, we are witness of continuous onslaughts of various pathogen deformities which are a major cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Therefore, to investigate the grave for these deformities, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial biological activities were carried out against newly synthesized Schiff base ligands and their transition metal complexes, which are based on newly synthesized 2-phenoxyaniline and salicylaldehyde derivatives. Materials & methods: The synthesized compounds were characterized by various physiochemical studies, demonstrating the octahedral stereochemistry of the complexes. Results: The biological assessments revealed that complex 6 (3.01 ± 0.01 μM) was found to be highly active for oxidant ailments whereas complex 14 (7.14 ± 0.05 μM, 0.0041-0.0082 μmol/ml) was observed as highly potent for inflammation and microbial diseases. Conclusion: Overall, the biological and computational studies demonstrate that the nickel(II) complex 14 can act as an excellent candidate for pathogen deformities.

Abstract
This work describes the syntheses, structural characterization, and biological profile of Mn(II)- and Zn(II)-based complexes 1 and 2 derived from the aroyl-hydrazone Schiff base ligand (L1). The synthesized compounds were thoroughly characterized by elemental analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), UV-vis, electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), and single-crystal X-ray diffraction (s-XRD). Density functional theory (DFT) studies of complexes 1 and 2 were performed to ascertain the structural and electronic properties. Hirshfeld surface analysis was used to investigate different intermolecular interactions that define the stability of crystal lattice structures. To ascertain the therapeutic potential of complexes 1 and 2, in vitro interaction studies were carried out with ct-DNA and bovine serum albumin (BSA) using analytical and multispectroscopic techniques, and the results showed more avid binding of complex 2 than complex 1 and L1. The antioxidant potential of complexes 1 and 2 was examined against the 2,2-diphenyl picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) free radical, which revealed better antioxidant ability of the Mn(II) complex. Moreover, the antibacterial activity of synthesized complexes 1 and 2 was tested against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria in which complex 2 demonstrated more effective bactericidal activity than L1 and complex 1 toward Gram-positive bacteria. Furthermore, the in vitro cytotoxicity assessment of L1 and complexes 1 and 2 was carried out against MDA-MB-231 (triple negative breast cancer) and A549 (lung) cancer cell lines. The cytotoxic results revealed that the polymeric Zn(II) complex exhibited better and selective cytotoxicity against the A549 cancer cell line as was evidenced by its low IC50 value.

Abstract
Herein, we report the synthesis, characterization, and biological properties of eleven (3a-3k) novel Schiff bases. The spectral data of FT-IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and LC-MS are associated with these synthesized compounds. From the FT-IR analysis, we confirmed the azomethine (-C=N-) group and from 1H NMR data, the phenolic –OH proton is appeared at range δ 13.92–14.09ppm due to hydrogen bonding. The LC-MS analysis agreed with molecular ion peaks of synthesized Schiff bases. To evaluate the antibacterial activity of newly synthesized compounds were screened against b. licheniformis, b. species, e. coli, and s. aureus. Furthermore, the antioxidant activity was investigated by two methods 2,2-diphenyl-1-picryl hydrazyl (DPPH) and hydroxyl radical scavenging methods. The (-NO2,-Cl,-Br,-I) substituted compounds have shown good antibacterial activity against tested organisms. Also, these compounds were exhibited higher antioxidant activity by given methods.

Abstract
Nisin had been grafted onto quaternary ammonium chitosan (QCS) through an enzyme-catalyzed reaction to enhance its limited antimicrobial activity. QCS was synthesized by incorporating N-(3-chloro-2-hydroxypropyl) trimethyl ammonium chloride (CHPTAC) onto chitosan's primary amine group. The modification had been confirmed by FT-IR and 1H NMR spectroscopy. Degree of substitution (DS) of QCS-nisin could be controlled by adjusting the reaction conditions. The synthesized compounds were screened in vitro to evaluate their antimicrobial and antioxidant activities. The results suggested that QCS-nisin significantly suppressed the growth of both gram-positive bacteria and gram-negative bacteria; The antioxidant effects on 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical, hydroxyl radical and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) proved to be enhanced with increasing DS and concentration. In addition, QCS-nisin showed excellent moisture absorption and retention properties; MTT assay exhibited that QCS-nisin revealed low cytotoxicity effects on cultured NIH-3T3 fibroblasts. These results suggest that QCS-nisin would appear to be a promising candidate for wound dressing application.

Abstract
Synthesis of bio-efficient homobimetallic complexes, [Cu2(L1)2(dipic)](NO3)2.3H2O (1), [Zn2(L1)2(dipic)](NO3)2.4H2O (2), [Cu2(L2)2(oxa)](NO3)2.4H2O (3) and [Zn2(L2)2(oxa)] (NO3)2.5H2O (4) was carried out using Schiff bases [(N1E,N2E)-N1,N2-bis(5-chlorothiophen-2-ylmethylene)-4-chlorobenzene-1,2-diamine; L1] and [(N1E,N2E)-N1,N2-bis(5-chlorofuran-2-ylmethylene)-4-chlorobenzene-1,2-diamine; L2] as main ligands and dicarboxylate moieties of 2,6-pyridine dicarboxylic acid (H2-dipic) and oxalic acid (H2-oxa) as co-ligands, respectively in order to apprehend their structure activity relationships on the basis of pharmacophore hybrid approach. The stoichiometry, geometry, thermal stability, morphology and crystallite size of the compounds were inferred by analytical, spectral (FT-IR, 1H NMR and 13C NMR and Mass), thermal (TGA/DTA), SEM and XRD studies. In-vitro DNA and HSA binding profiles of complexes were analysed by different biophysical measurements. The absorption study divulged that the observed alterations in the physico-chemical properties of complexes upon binding with DNA connoted their intercalative binding mode while fluorescence quenching mechanism was quantified by using Stern Volmer constant (KSV); 1.73×104 (1), 1.47×104 (2), 5.65×103 (3) and 3.60×103M-1 (4) which discerned that hybrid pharmacophore active metal complexes (1 and 2) exhibited efficient quenching effect with Ct-DNA in comparison to complexes (3 and 4) due to greater planarity and extent of conjugation (π-π interactions). The intercalative binding mode of complexes is further supported by competitive displacement assay by using fluorogenic dyes (EtBr and Hoechst 33258). The results of HSA fluorescence study divulged static quenching of the complexes (1-4) with KSV values of 7.24×104 (1), 6.03×104 (2), 5.06×104 (3) and 2.85×104 (4) while Kb values; 1.16×105 (1), 2.01×104 (2), 5.84×103 (3) and 8.60×102 (4) suggested them potent avid binder of HSA. Additionally, comparative estimation of scavenging properties using DPPH, superoxide(O2.-), hydroxyl (OH-) and ABTS method and in-vitro cytotoxicity against different cell lines (MCF-7, HeLa and Hep G2) brought out distinct biopotency of complexes due to diverse structural features and chelation effect.
