Abstract
The article divulges the crystal growth, synthesis, and X-ray structure characterization of one centrosymmetric cadmium complex, [Cd{CdL(μ2-1,3-acetate)}2] using Salen ligand (SL). The complex is further characterized using spectroscopic and analytical techniques, including DRS, SEM-EDX, PXRD, and ICP-MS. The crystallographic study showed that the complex has a monoclinic space P21/c. Addison parameters (Ʈ) show the hexagonal geometry of the central Cd(II) metal ion. Hirshfeld surface and 2-D fingerprint confirm supramolecular contacts despite weak C-H⋯O and C-H···π interactions. Energy frameworks, FMOs, global reactivity parameters, MEP, and energy bandgap explain the complex reactivity outlook. The complex inter- and intramolecular bonding interactions were explored through natural bond orbital (NBO), QTAIM, NCI-RDG, Electron Location Function (ELF), and Localized Orbital Locator (LOL) quantization methods. In addition, the complex and its synthetic components in vitro antibacterial efficacy were investigated using Gram-positive and Gram-negative microbial strains. SAR (structure-activity relationship) correlates with biological potency. Molecular docking assessed antimicrobial potency with proteins S. aureus (PDB ID: 1JIJ), C. albicans (PDB ID: 1M7A), E. coli (PDB ID: 1T9U), P. aeruginosa (PDB ID: 2UV0), and A. Niger (PDB ID: 3K4P). The findings are backed by the Protein-Ligand Interaction Profiler (PLIP). The antifungal potency and cell viability test of C. albicans were conducted using photodynamic therapy (APDT).

Abstract
This study demonstrates the potential of sono-photodynamic therapy as an effective approach for enhancing singlet oxygen generation using the synthesized Schiff-base diaxially substituted silicon phthalocyanines. In photochemical studies, the singlet oxygen quantum yields (Φ∆) were determined as 0.43 for Si1a, 0.94 for Q-Si1a, 0.58 for S-Si1a, and 0.49 for B-Sia1. In sono-photochemical studies, the Φ∆ values were reached to 0.67 for Si1a, 1.06 for Q-Si1a, 0.65 for S-Si1a, and 0.67 for B-Sia1. In addition, this study demonstrates the therapeutic efficacy of phthalocyanines synthesized as sensitizers on the PC3 prostate cancer cell line through in vitro experiments. The application of these treatment modalities exhibited notable outcomes, leading to a substantial decrease in cell viability within the PC3 prostate cancer cell line. These findings highlight the potential of utilizing these synthesized phthalocyanines as promising therapeutic agents for prostate cancer treatment.

Abstract
This study presents the synthesis of some metal {M = Zn(II), Lu(III), Si(IV)} phthalocyanines bearing chlorine and 2-(4-methylthiazol-5-yl) ethoxy groups at peripheral or axial positions. The newly synthesized metal phthalocyanines were characterized by applying FT-IR, 1H NMR, mass, and UV-Vis spectroscopic approaches. Additionally, the surface of gold nanoparticles was modified with zinc(II) and silicon(IV) phthalocyanines. The resultant nanoconjugates were characterized using TEM images. Moreover, the effect of metal ions and position of substituent, and gold nanoparticles on the photochemical and sonophotochemical properties of the studied phthalocyanines was investigated. The highest singlet oxygen quantum yield was obtained for the lutetium phthalocyanine by applying photochemical and sonophotochemical methods. However, the linkage of the zinc(II) and silicon(IV) phthalocyanines to the surface of gold nanoparticles improved significantly their singlet oxygen generation capacities.

Abstract
Although the sonophotodynamic method has an effective therapeutic outcome for anticancer treatment compared with the photodynamic method, there are not enough related studies in the literature and this study aims to contribute to the development of sonophotodynamic studies. For this purpose, the Schiff base substituted silicon phthalocyanines were designed and synthesized as effective sensitizer candidates and the photophysicochemical and sonophotochemical features of the phthalocyanines were examined to increase singlet oxygen efficiency. The calculated ΦΔ values indicate that the contribution of substituent groups improved the production of singlet oxygen compared with silicon (IV) phthalocyanine dichloride (SiPcCI2 ) and also the sonophotochemical applications increased the singlet oxygen yields. The ΦΔ values (ΦΔ = 0.76 for axially bis-{4-[(E)-(pyridin-3-ylimino)methyl]phenol} substituted silicon (IV) phthalocyanine (2a), 0.68 for axially bis-4-[(E)-{[(pyridin-3-yl)methyl]imino}methyl]phenol substituted silicon (IV) phthalocyanine (2b) in photochemical study) reached to ΦΔ = 0.98 for 2a, 0.94 for 2b in sonophotochemical study. This article will enrich the literature on increasing singlet oxygen yield.

Abstract
The synthesis, photophysical properties, and applications of highly fluorescent and phosphorescent palladium complexes are reviewed, covering the period 2018–2022. Despite the fact that the Pd atom appears closely related with an efficient quenching of the fluorescence of different molecules, different synthetic strategies have been recently optimized to achieve the preservation and even the amplification of the luminescent properties of several fluorophores after Pd incorporation. Beyond classical methodologies such as orthopalladation or the use of highly emissive ligands as porphyrins and related systems (for instance, biladiene), new concepts such as AIE (Aggregation Induced Emission) in metallacages or in coordination-driven supramolecular compounds (CDS) by restriction of intramolecular motions (RIM), or complexes showing TADF (Thermally Activated Delayed Fluorescence), are here described and analysed. Without pretending to be comprehensive, selected examples of applications in areas such as the fabrication of lighting devices, biological markers, photodynamic therapy, or oxygen sensing are also here reported.

Abstract
Antimicrobial photodynamic inactivation (aPDI) is an alternative treatment for the eradication of drug-resistant micro-organisms. One of the advantages of this technique, it that there is no possibility of microbial resistance. Hence, herein, the preparation and characterization of novel neutral and cationic morpholine containing Schiff base phthalocyanines are reported. The cationic complexes (4 and 5) gave moderate singlet oxygen quantum yields (ΦΔ) of ∼0.2 in aqueous media. Conversely, the neutral complexes generated very low ΦΔ values making them very poor candidates for antimicrobial studies. The cationic phthalocyanines showed excellent photodynamic activity against planktonic cells of all micro-organisms (Candida albicans, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella enterica subspecies enterica serovar Choleraesuis, vancomycin-resistant E. faecium, and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus). The efficiency of aPDI was shown to be both concentration and light-dose-dependent. Mono biofilms were susceptible when treated with 200 µM of cationic Pcs at 108 J/cm2. However, ∼10% of the mixed biofilm survived after treatment.

Abstract
Sono-photodynamic therapy, which show a very high therapeutic effect compared to photodynamic therapy, is a newer method for anticancer treatments. However, unlike Photodynamic therapy (PDT), the number of studies measuring the efficiency of singlet oxygen for the Sono-photodynamic therapy (SPDT) method is quite insufficient in the literature. Therefore, this study aimed to synthesis novel axially substituted silicon (IV) phthalocyanines containing imine groups with improved photochemical properties and then reported the efficiency of singlet oxygen by both of photochemical and sono-photochemical studies. According to the results, the substituent group increased the singlet oxygen yield of silicon (IV) phthalocyanine dichloride and the sono-photochemical effect increased the singlet oxygen yields (ΦΔ=0.35 for 2a, 0.69 for 2b in photochemical study, 0.78 for 2a, 0.97 for 2b in sono-photochemical study). This article may pave the way to achieve high singlet oxygen efficiency.

Abstract
New asymmetric Si(IV)Pc (1), monomeloxicammonotriethyleneglycolmonomethylether (phthalocyaninano)silicone, axially ligated with meloxicam as a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), or triethylene glycol monomethyl ether and symmetric Si(IV)Pc (2), diclofenac(phthalocyaninano)silicone, axially ligated with two diclofenac as NSAID, were synthesized and characterized as antioxidant and antimicrobial agents together with polyoxo-SiPc (3), ditriethyleneglycolmonomethylether(phthalocyaninano)silicone, and SiPc(OH)2 (4), dihydroxy(phthalocyaninano)silicone. The photophysical and photochemical properties of these compounds were investigated. Then, antioxidant assays, including 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and ferrous ion chelating activities, were performed for these Si(IV) phthalocyanine derivatives (1, 2, 3 and 4). The highest DPPH scavenging activity of 73.48% was achieved with compound 2 and the highest ferrous chelating ability of 66.42% was obtained with compound 3. The results of the antioxidant assays indicated that Pc derivatives 1, 2 and 3 have remarkable superoxide radical scavenging activities, and moderate 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl activities and metal chelating activities. The antimicrobial effects of the Si(IV) phthalocyanine compounds were studied against six pathogenic bacteria and two pathogenic microfungi. The results for the antimicrobial activity of these compounds indicated that Enterococcus faecalis (ATCC 29212) was the most sensitive microorganism and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (ATCC 27853) and Legionella pneumophila subsp. pneumophila (ATCC 33152) were the most resistant microorganisms against the tested compounds. The DNA cleavage ability and microbial cell viability of these compounds were studied. The studied compounds demonstrated excellent DNA nuclease activity and exhibited 100% cell viability inhibition at 500 mg L-1. Also, the antimicrobial photodynamic therapy of the compounds was tested against Escherichia coli (ATCC 25922) and significant photodynamic antimicrobial activity was observed. In addition, the effect of phthalocyanines on biofilm inhibition produced by Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC 25923) was also tested and 3 showed excellent biofilm inhibition of 82.14%.

Abstract
Antimicrobial resistance is a most important problem facing the treatment of infectious diseases. Antimicrobial photodynamic therapy is an alternative treatment strategy, considered to be cost-effective and feasible. For this purpose, octa-imine substituted ZnPc (3) have been prepared and conjugated to nitrogen, sulfur co-doped graphene quantum dots (N,S-GQDs) through π-π stacking. The photophysical and photochemical properties of Pc alone and and Pc-conjugated to the GQD nanomaterial such as absorption, fluorescence, fluorescence life time, singlet oxygen quantum yields, triplet state quantum yields and exited state lifetimes were investigated in solutions before in vitro cell studies. The PACT activity of prepared structures was investigated against Gram-positive (Staphylococcus aureus). Our results suggest that the in the case of conjugation of zinc Pc to N,S-GQDs, photodynamic inactivation increased with the 100 % reduction percentage.

Abstract
One of the most promising alternatives for treating bacterial infections is antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (aPDT), making the synthesis and application of new photoactive compounds called photosensitizers (PS) a dynamic research field. In this regard, phthalocyanine (Pc) derivatives offer great opportunities due to their extraordinary light-harvesting and tunable electronic properties, structural versatility, and stability. This Review, rather than focusing on synthetic strategies, intends to overview current progress in the structural design strategies for Pcs that could achieve effective photoinactivation of microorganisms. In addition, the Review provides a concise look into the recent developments and applications of nanocarrier-based Pc delivery systems.

Abstract
AbstractIn this present study, a new axially bis-4-tritylphenoxy substituted silicon phthalocyanine compound was synthesized and characterized using infrared, mass, electronic absorption and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. Fluorescence and absorption spectra studies of the disubstituted silicon phthalocyanine complex were conducted on the chloroform, dimethyl formamide, dimethyl sulfoxide and tetrahydrofuran solutions. The findings of the fluorescence studies demonstrated that the compound has fluorescence spectra in the different solvents. The effects of the substitution with axially bis-4-tritylphenoxy functionalized groups on these parameters were also compared with the previously synthesized axially disubstituted silicon phthalocyanines. These results proved that the compound has different fluorescence properties in the different solvents.
