Abstract
Shear and thermal processing can greatly influence nanoparticles' orientation and dispersion, affecting the nanocomposites' conductivity and mechanical properties. The synergistic effects of shear flow and Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) nucleating ability on the crystallization mechanisms have been proven. In this study, Polylactic acid/Carbon nanotubes (PLA/CNTs) nanocomposites were produced by three different molding methods: compression molding (CM), conventional injection molding (IM), and interval injection molding (IntM). Solid annealing at 80 °C for 4 h and pre-melt annealing at 120 °C for 3 h was applied to research the CNTs' nucleation effect and the crystallized volume exclusion effect on the electrical conductivity and mechanical properties. The volume exclusion effect only significantly impacts the oriented CNTs, causing the conductivity along the transverse direction to rise by about seven orders of magnitude. In addition, the tensile modulus of the nanocomposites decreases with the increased crystallinity, while the tensile strength and modulus decrease.

Abstract
In this study, the effect of accelerated ultraviolet (UV) aging on the properties of polypropylene (PP) as well as its blend with PP-graft-maleic anhydride (PP-g-MA) and composite with amine-functionalized mullite nanofibers (AMNF) was compared. Solid-state NMR exhibited some changes in the macromolecular chain structure after aging, whereas the formation of degradation products was confirmed through Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. The aged composite was observed to exhibit the least increment in the crystallinity from X-ray and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) analyses (0.3 and 0.5%, compared to 9.7 and 10.4%, respectively, for PP) owing to the stability of its amorphous phase against degradation. Similar resistance toward degradation was also confirmed by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The surface morphology of the materials also exhibited the lowest extent of surface embrittlement as well as a small number of shallow cracks in the case of a-PP/PP-g-MA/AMNF composite. The aged composite had a much higher impact strength of 14.9 kJ m-2 compared to 2.5 kJ m-2 for aged PP, thus exhibiting its stability against degradation owing to a synergistic combination of the filler and compatibilizer. The optimal performance of the composite was further confirmed through the least extent of reduction in the tensile strength and elongation at break. These findings demonstrate the superior performance of AMNF-reinforced PP composite over PP for outdoor applications.

Abstract
In this work, formulations based on composites of a linear polypropylene (L-PP), a long-chain branched polypropylene (LCB-PP), a polypropylene-graft-maleic anhydride (PP-MA), a styrene-ethylene-butylene-styrene copolymer (SEBS), glass fibers (GF), and halloysite nanotubes (HNT-QM) have been foamed by using the improved compression molding route (ICM), obtaining relative densities of about 0.62. The combination of the inclusion of elastomer and rigid phases with the use of the LCB-PP led to foams with a better cellular structure, an improved ductility, and considerable values of the elastic modulus. Consequently, the produced foams presented simultaneously an excellent impact performance and a high stiffness with respect to their corresponding solid counterparts.

Abstract
In this work, an isotactic polypropylene (PP) and a polyethylene–octene copolymer (POE) have been blended and injection-molded, obtaining solids and foamed samples with a relative density of 0.76. Different mold temperature and injection temperature were used. The Izod impact strength was measured. For solids, higher mold temperature increased the impact resistance, whereas in foams, the opposite trend was observed. In order to understand the reasons of this behavior, the morphology of the elastomeric phase, the crystalline morphology and the cellular structure have been studied. The presence of the elastomer near the skin in the case of high mold temperature can explain the improvement produced with a high mold temperature in solids. For foams, aspects as the elastomer coarsening in the core of the sample or the presence of a thicker solid skin are the critical parameters that justify the improved behavior of the materials produced with a lower mold temperature.

Abstract
In situ microfibrillation and multiflow vibrate injection molding (MFVIM) technologies were combined to control the phase morphology of blended polypropylene (PP) and poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET), wherein PP is the majority phase. Four kinds of phase structures were formed using different processing methods. As the PET content changes, the best choice of phase structure also changes. When the PP matrix is unoriented, oriented microfibrillar PET can increase the mechanical properties at an appropriate PET content. However, if the PP matrix is an oriented structure (shish-kebab), only the use of unoriented spherical PET can significantly improve the impact strength. Besides this, the compatibilizer polyolefin grafted maleic anhydride (POE-g-MA) can cover the PET in either spherical or microfibrillar shape to form a core⁻shell structure, which tends to improve both the yield and impact strength. We focused on the influence of all composing aspects-fibrillation of the dispersed PET, PP matrix crystalline morphology, and compatibilized interface-on the mechanical properties of PP/PET blends as well as potential synergies between these components. Overall, we provided a theoretical basis for the mechanical recycling of immiscible blends.

Abstract
Improving the mechanical properties of immiscible PP/PET blend is of practical significance especially in the recycling process of multi-layered plastic solid waste. In this work, a multi-flow vibration injection molding technology (MFVIM) was hired to convert the crystalline morphology of the PP matrix from spherulite into shish-kebab. POE⁻g⁻MA was added as compatibilizer, and results showed that the compatibilization effect consisted in the formation of a core-shell structure by dispersing the POE⁻g⁻MA into the PP matrix to encapsulate the PET. It was found that the joint action of shish-kebab crystals and spherical core-shell structure enabled excellent mechanical performance with a balance of strength and toughness for samples containing 10 wt % PET and 4 wt % POE⁻g⁻MA, of which the yield strength and impact strengths were 50.87 MPa and 13.71 kJ/m², respectively. This work demonstrates a new approach to optimize mechanical properties of immiscible PP/PET blends, which is very meaningful for the effective recycling of challenging plastic wastes.

Abstract
Polypropylene (PP) contains promising application prospects in thermoplastic cables for high voltage direct current (HVDC) power transmission because of its outstanding thermal and dielectric properties. However, the problem of poor toughness and space charge has restricted the application of pure PP in HVDC cables. In this paper, polyolefin elastomer (POE) and nano-silica were blended thoroughly and added into a PP mixture by a melting method. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was employed to observe the dispersion of POE and nanoparticles. Thermal properties were characterized by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA). Mechanical properties were evaluated by tensile tests. The elastomeric properties of composites were improved as the dispersed POE could transfer and homogenize external mechanical forces. DC breakdown results showed that the fail strength of composite with 10 phr POE and 1 phr nano-silica was obviously enhanced. The pulsed electro-acoustic (PEA) results showed that the injection and accumulation of space charge was increased by the introduction of POE, while it was restrained by the collective effect caused by nano-silica filling. X-ray diffraction (XRD) spectrograms showed that secondary ordered structures existed in the composites of PP, POE, and nano-silica, and that the ordered structure around the nanoparticles contributed to the enhancement of breakdown strength. The mechanical and dielectric properties were modified synergistically, which made the modified PP a propitious insulation material for HVDC cables.
