FT-IR, FT-Raman spectra and ab initio DFT vibrational analysis of p-bromophenoxyacetic acid

Topological analysis (BCP) of vibrational spectroscopic studies, docking, RDG, DSSC, Fukui functions and chemical reactivity of 2-methylphenylacetic acid

Experimental FT-IR and FT-Raman spectra of 2-methylphenylacetic acid (MPA) were recorded and theoretical values are also analyzed. The non-linear optical (NLO) properties were evaluated by determination of first (5.5053×10^-30 e.s.u.) and second hyper-polarizabilities (7.6833×10^-36 e.s.u.) of the title compound. The Multiwfn package is used to find the weak non-covalent interaction (Van der Wall interaction) and strong repulsion (steric effect) of the molecule and examined by reduced density gradient. The molecular electrostatic potential (MEP) analysis used to find the most reactive sites for the electrophilic and nucleophilic attack. The chemical activity (electronegativity, hardness, chemical softness and chemical potential) of the title compound was predicted with the help of HOMO-LUMO energy values. The natural bond orbital (NBO) has been analyzed the stability of the molecule arising from the hyper-conjugative interaction. DSSCs were discussed in structural modifications that improve the electron injection efficiency of the title compound (MPA). The Fukui functions are calculated in order to get information associated with the local reactivity properties of the title compound. The binding sites of the two receptors were reported by molecular docking field and active site bond distance is same 1.9Å. The inhibitor of the title compound forms a stable complex with 1QYV and 2H1K proteins at the binding energies are -5.38 and -5.85 (∆G in kcal/mol).

Molecular structure of phenyl- and phenoxyacetic acids--spectroscopic and theoretical study

The FT-IR, FT-Raman and (1)H and (13)C NMR spectra were recorded for phenyl- and phenoxyacetic acids in comparison with benzoic acid molecule. The density functional hybrid method (B3LYP/6-311++G(**)) was used to calculate optimized geometrical structures of studied compounds. The atomic charges were calculated by NBO (natural bond orbital) methods. Aromaticity indices, dipole moments and energies as well as the wavenumbers and intensities of IR spectra were calculated. The chemical shifts in NMR spectra using the gauge independent atomic orbital (GIAO) method were also analyzed. The theoretical parameters were compared to experimental characteristic of phenyl- and phenoxyacetic acids. The study of HOMO, LUMO and NBO analyses have been used to elucidate charge transfer within the molecule of title compounds. Molecular electrostatic potential (MEP) was also calculated.

DFT computation and experimental analysis of vibrational and electronic spectra of phenoxy acetic acid herbicides

An absolute vibrational analysis has been attempted on the basis of experimental FTIR and NIR-FT Raman spectra with calculated vibrational wavenumbers and intensities of phenoxy acetic acids. The equilibrium geometry, bonding features and harmonic vibrational wavenumbers have been calculated with the help of B3LYP method with Dunning correlation consistent basis set aug-cc-pVTZ. The electronic structures of molecular fragments were described in terms of natural bond orbital analysis, which shows intermolecular O-H···O and intramolecular C-H···O hydrogen bonds. The electronic absorption spectra with different solvents have been investigated in combination with time-dependent density functional theory calculation. The pKa values of phenoxy acetic acids were compared.

Vibrational Spectroscopy Investigation Using Ab Initio and Density Functional Theory Analysis on the Structure oftert-Butyl 3a-Chloroperhydro-2,6a-epoxyoxireno[e]isoindole-5-carboxylate

The molecular structure, vibrational frequencies, and infrared intensities of thetert-butyl 3a-chloroperhydro-2,6a-epoxyoxireno[e]isoindole-5-carboxylate were calculated by the HF and DFT (BLYP and B3LYP) methods using 6-31G(d) and 6-31G(d,p) basis sets. The FT infrared spectrum of the solid sample was measured under standard condition. We obtained two stable conformers for the title compound; however Conformer 1 is approximately 0.2 kcal/mol more stable than the Conformer 2. The comparison of the theoretical and experimental geometry of the title compound shows that the X-ray parameters fairly well reproduce the geometry of Conformer 2. Comparison of the observed fundamental vibrational frequencies of the title molecule and calculated results by HF and DFT methods indicates that B3LYP is superior for molecular vibrational problems. The harmonic vibrations computed by the B3LYP/6-31G(d,p) method are in a good agreement with the observed IR spectral data. Theoretical vibrational spectra of the title compound were interpreted by means of potential energy distributions (PEDs) using VEDA 4 program.

Spectroscopic (FT-IR, Raman, NMR) and DFT Quantum Chemical Studies on Phenoxyacetic Acid and Its Sodium Salt

FT-IR, Raman, and NMR spectra of phenoxyacetic acid and its sodium salt were recorded and analyzed. Optimized geometrical structures of studied compounds were calculated by B3LYP/6-311++ method. The atomic charges were calculated by Mulliken, NPA (natural population analysis), APT (atomic polar tensor), MK (Merz-Singh-Kollman method), and ChelpG (charges from electrostatic potentials using grid-based method) methods. Geometric as well as magnetic aromaticity indices, dipole moments, and energies were also calculated. The theoretical wavenumbers and intensities of IR spectra as well as chemical shifts in and NMR spectra were obtained. The calculated parameters were compared with experimental characteristics of these molecules.

Vibrational spectroscopic analysis of 2-bromobenzoic and anthranilic acids: a combined experimental and theoretical study

In this work, the vibrational spectral analysis was carried out by using Raman and infrared spectroscopy in the range 100-4000 cm(-1) and 50-4000 cm(-1) respectively, for the title molecules. The molecular structure, fundamental vibrational frequencies and intensity of the vibrational bands are interpreted with the aid of structure optimizations and normal coordinate force field calculations based on Hartee-Fock (HF) and density functional theory (DFT) method and different basis sets combination. The complete vibrational assignments of wavenumbers were made on the basis of potential energy distribution (PED). The scaled B3LYP/6-311++G(d,p) results show the best agreement with the experimental values over the other methods. The effects due to the substitutions of amino group and halogen bond were investigated. The results of the calculations were applied to simulate spectra of the title compounds, which show excellent agreement with observed spectra.

Density functional theory calculations and vibrational spectral analysis of 3,5-(dinitrobenzoic acid)

The FT-IR and Raman spectra of 3,5-dinitrobenzoic acid (DNBA) have been recorded and analyzed. The equilibrium geometry, various bonding and harmonic vibrational wavenumbers have been calculated with the help of density functional theory (DFT) method. Most of the vibrational modes are observed in the expected range. Mulliken population analysis shows the interactions C-N-O⋯H-C and C-O⋯H-C. The most possible interaction is explained using natural bond orbital (NBO) analysis. The strengthening and polarization of the CO bond increases due to the degree of conjugation. HOMO-LUMO energy and the thermodynamic properties are also evaluated.

Vibrational spectra and natural bond orbital analysis of the herbicidal molecule 2(4-chlorophenoxy)-2-methyl propionic acid

The herbicide 2(4-chlorophenoxy)-2-methyl propionic acid (MCPP) has been subjected to NIR FT-Raman and infrared spectral studies. The optimized molecular structure, vibrational wavenumbers, IR intensities and Raman activities have been calculated by using density functional method (B3LYP) with the standard 6-31G(d) basis set. The calculated molecular geometry has been compared with the XRD data. The detailed assignments of the normal modes have been performed based on the potential energy distribution (PED) following the scaled quantum mechanical force field (SQMFF) methodology. The IR and Raman spectra have been plotted for the calculated wavenumbers. The simulated spectra satisfactorily coincide with the experimental spectra. The strong hyperconjugative interaction and charge delocalization that leads to the stability of the molecule have been investigated with the aid of natural bond orbital (NBO) analysis.

Spectral characterization and antimicrobial activity of 2-(5-chloro/nitro-1H-benzimidazol-2-yl)-4-bromo/nitro-phenols and their zinc(II) complexes

2-(5-Chloro/nitro-1H-benzimidazol-2-yl)-4-bromo/nitro-phenols (HL(x); x=1-4) and their complexes with zinc(II)nitrate have been synthesized and characterized. In the tetrahedral mononuclear complexes, the ligands are bidentate, via the imine nitrogen and the phenolate oxygen atoms. The structures of the complexes were confirmed on the basis of elemental analysis, molar conductivity, TGA, FT-IR, NMR, mass and UV-vis spectroscopy. The optimized geometry of the complexes was derived from theoretical calculation in DGauss/DFT level on CACHE program. From theoretical calculations it was found that bromo derivatives of the ligands (HL(1) and HL(3)) have higher stability than the other ligands and similarly, their Zn(II) complexes have higher stability than the other complexes. The antimicrobial activities of the compounds were evaluated using the disk diffusion method against six bacteria and Candida albicans. All of the complexes exhibited selective antibacterial activity on Staphylococcus epidermidis. HL(3) and [Zn(L(1))(2)].H(2)O are more active than Ciprofloxazin and, [Zn(L(2))(2)] has antibacterial activity as potent as Ciprofloxazin against S. epidermidis.

Experimental and theoretical study on molecular structure and FT-IR, Raman, NMR spectra of 4,4'-dibromodiphenyl ether

In this work, both experimental and theoretical study on the FT-IR and Raman spectra as well as (1)H NMR and (13)C NMR chemical shifts of 4,4'-dibromodiphenyl ether have been carried out. The optimized geometry was obtained by using both HF and density functional B3LYP method with the 6-31G(d) and 6-311+G(d, p) basis sets. The calculated bond lengths and dihedral angles for both methods on 6-31G(d) level show the best agreement with the experimental data, while the dihedral angles of C(1')-O-C(1)-C(6) and C(1')-O-C(1)-C(2), critical geometry parameters for conformers in the ground state, indicates significant deviation of HF results from the experimental information. The harmonic vibration frequencies and intensities in IR and Raman spectra and chemical shifts of the molecule were calculated on the B3LYP/6-31G(d) and B3LYP/6-311+G(d, p) levels. The scaled theoretical vibration frequencies present good agreement with the experimental values. The larger basis set makes no significant improvement in the accuracy of the vibration frequencies. Besides, chemical shifts of hydrogen and carbon computed on B3LYP/6-31G(d) level agree well with the observations.

The molecular structure, vibrational frequencies and infrared intensities of the 3-(6-benzoyl-2-oxobenzo[d]oxazol-3(2H)-yl)propanoic acid were calculated by the HF and DFT methods using 6-31G(d) basis set. The FT-infrared spectra have been measured for the title compound in the solid state. We obtained 11 stable conformers for the title compound, however the Conformer 1 is approximately 3.88 kcal/mol more stable than the Conformer 11. The comparison of the theoretical and experimental geometry of the title compound shows that the X-ray parameters fairly well reproduce the geometry of the Conformer 1. The harmonic vibrations computed of this compound by the B3LYP/6-31G(d) method are in a good agreement with the observed IR spectral data. Theoretical vibrational spectra of the title compound were interpreted by means of PEDs using VEDA 4 program.
